    Hatred runs deep.

From the comments on the news story about the driver who targeted the Dutch Royal Family:

Now you see why there are suicide bombers in the Gaza and occupied Palestine.
This guy couldn’t pay rent, in a society that would has an ample social security net and he tried to kill the queen.
What about when your family is bombed with missiles and your lands occupied, what do you want to do then

If Marri serves his time in Qatar, I’ll get that (a) he gets released early, or (b) he can come and go as he pleases, as many other terrorists can in Muslim jails.

While we have the linkfest, check this out – it’s few days old but I just got up the nerve/stomach to actually watch the video. For clarity, I am not racist (far from it, strict non-collectivist of any kind) – but can you imagine the firestorm if somehow they were talking about the correct level of *whiteness* in a President, and attributing his positive qualities to the fact that he was white?

    http://michellemalkin.com/2009/04/29/do-you-have-the-swagga/

Philosophical note: what is going on here is really terrible, ascribing any qualities of an individual to which group they belong to involuntarily (i.e, of course it’s logical to judge someone if they choose to belong to, say, a white supremacist organization) is a horrible fallacy, and the fact that it’s done so openly, and evidently widely accepted, when it’s apparently PC to do so is shocking, and a scary indictment of just how far our society implicitly accepts collectivist ideals.
