Two Reported Shot at Holocaust Museum in D.C.

WASHINGTON — Two people were shot at the Holocaust Museum, one of the capital’s most-visited sites, shortly after 1 p.m. Thursday, the police said.

Early reports indicated that those who were wounded were an armed man who entered the museum and began shooting and a security guard who returned fire. Their conditions were not immediately known, although witnesses told television reporters that the security guard was on the ground and bleeding profusely afterward.

Who Is James Von Braunn?

Hitler’s worst mistake is that he did NOT gas the Jews.
–James von Braunn,

God bless the security guard.

Think Progress having a ball already-

    misscoleopteramolly Says:

A Department of Homeland Security report leaked earlier this year — and subsequently retracted — warned of right-wing extremists “that are primarily hate-oriented (based on hatred of particular religious, racial or ethnic groups).”

And conservatives of every stripe condemned this report as being unfair — as they all (apparently) identified with extremists.

I’m sure now all these same conservatives will excuse this latest nutcase as merely exercising his right to bear arms and “just letting off some steam.”

I remember when Shep was ripping into some US Soldier, a few years ago, when we first went into Iraq.

The soldier being interviewed was telling Shep how well it had gone in tha there was low loss of life, the oilfields had not been set on fire and there weren’t many bombs set off.

Shep ripped into him for not having saved more items in the museum from the previous curators who did some looting in the confusion.

and the left rips on Fox for being ‘right wing’

Wright apparently didn’t like being a Marine. After being PFC for 2 years, he switched over to the navy and became a cardio-technician.

So he went from being a Marine to hospital staff.

He quit the marines, he isn’t one in my book.

Shep- Me too. I thought he was ok until one day during Lebanon/Israel 2006. I can’t believe I found this, but someone else took offense as well-

Of particular note, in a mid-week segment Smith conducted an aggressive near cross-examination of a young member of the Israeli Air Force. Smith’s tone was belligerent; his manner accusatory as he grilled the soldier about whether he felt good about the activity he was engaged in, as if Smith was speaking to a member of the Waffen SS.

Later Smith went ballistic -- eyes popping -- when a guest of his called members of Hezbollah “animals.” This sent the correspondent into a bizarre rant along the lines of, “no matter what we think about them they provide essential services…food, housing and after all they have the loyalty of the people,” etc.

Yep. That’s how I remember it.

    UPDATE at 6/10/09 12:36:47 pm:

With the Tiller shooting and now this — the DHS report that caused such an uproar has been vindicated.

The report was a heads-up to law enforcement, warning of a risk of increased attacks from right wing extremists, and with two attacks in two weeks it looks like the heads-up was well warranted.

  47. 47 | June 10, 2009 12:53 pm

Here’s a portion from his book that not only shows his ignorance, but also (to me) gives evidence that the 89 year old shooter conspiracy nut is not a christian, from his book:

Jesus Christ WAS NOT A JEW. He was a rabbi
(teacher) who worshipped the Mosaic Law and despised the
Pharisaical Oral Law (Talmud). Jesus (if he did exist) was
born in Galilee (“Unclean Land of the Gentiles”). He may
have been Semitic but he could just as easily have been

Jesus was a Jew, from the line of David, as the Bible clearly shows. Jesus could NOT have been “Aryan” as Jesus was a Jew, from the line of David, as the Bible clearly shows.

The part that makes it clear to me that this scumbag is specifically not a christian is that part in the parenthesise. “if he did exist”. . .

I expect the lefties of the world to overlook that when they call him an anti-abortionist creationist christian.

The german people were poor after World War 1. Hitler came in and set up the Jew as someone to be kicked out as the one that causes all the problems.

The root of the nazi hatred of jews was that the image of the jew was that they were a rich banker and were profiting from the german poverty.

Hitler’s hatred of jews came from his own sick mind and was reinforced by those around him.

They didn’t hate jews because their ancestors were christians or because they were pagans…. they hated jews because those in power set up the jews as the reason for their sucky life. Those in power were not jews (though Hitler has a jewish ancestor), which made jews (who looked and dressed differently) an easy target.

For some religious folks, Hiler may have had whispers from certain sinister forces who have tried to strike out against God since God threw him out.

Jews and Christians were executed in the Holocaust, as were the innocently weak and lame. Evil always preys upon such folks.

Problem is though…. it isn’t the federal government’s job to limit gambling. It is the job of the states.

If someone in a state is gambling and gambling is illegal in that state, it is the state’s job to arrest the gambler, not the federal government’s job to try and shut down the website.

Hey all. Did you guys see this? .

    Miranda Rights for Terrorists

When 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammad was captured on March 1, 2003, he was not cooperative. “I’ll talk to you guys after I get to New York and see my lawyer,” he said, according to former CIA Director George Tenet.

Of course, KSM did not get a lawyer until months later, after his interrogation was completed, and Tenet says that the information the CIA obtained from him disrupted plots and saved lives. “I believe none of these successes would have happened if we had had to treat KSM like a white-collar criminal – read him his Miranda rights and get him a lawyer who surely would have insisted that his client simply shut up,” Tenet wrote in his memoirs.

If Tenet is right, it’s a good thing KSM was captured before Barack Obama became president. For, the Obama Justice Department has quietly ordered FBI agents to read Miranda rights to high value detainees captured and held at U.S. detention facilities in Afghanistan, according a senior Republican on the House Intelligence Committee.

This president is turning out to be more dangerous that I initially predicted.

The german people were poor after World War 1. Hitler came in and set up the Jew as someone to be kicked out as the one that causes all the problems.
Who was rich after World War I especially after the world wide market crash? Nobody. The Nazi anti Semitism had its roots in popular medieval anti Semitism as I previously posted and they were particularly sympathetic towards Islam. Ever see Julius Streicher’s Der Sturmer newspaper with its pictures of Jews collecting Christian blood? Where did that blood libel come from? Yes the Nazis were paganistic. I know you are a devout Christian but not every nominal Christian was a saint. By the way, German Jews were patriotic Germans (over 100,000 served in World War I with 28,000 dying) and highly assimilated into German society. Anne Frank’s father Otto, as a matter of fact was a German officer in World War I. Through their undeniable brilliance they (the Jews of Germany and Austria) were particularly well represented in academia, medicine, the arts, science, etc. Ever hear of Albert Einstein? The Nazi anti Semitism had its roots in popular medieval anti Semitism as I previously posted

You saying it doesn’t make it true. Didn’t matter who WAS rich, what mattered was who could be PAINTED as rich.

That, after Hitler’s PR campaign, was the Jews. That cemented a disdain for them amongst the common German folk. If Hitler had wanted to, instead, get rid of soccer players, he’d have painted them as the ones who profit from the common folk’s poverty.

The TRUTH was, it was Hitler who profited from their poverty, but most huddled oppressed masses don’t realize that if they’ve been effectively distracted.

If Hitler was following “christian” hatred of the jews, why was he and his inner circle pushing pagan beliefs so much?

I know you are a devout Christian but not every nominal Christian was a saint.

The Christians were not behind the killing of jews in Germany during World War 2. Let the lie rest.

Through their undeniable brilliance they (the Jews of Germany and Austria) were particularly well represented in academia, medicine, the arts, science, etc. Ever hear of Albert Einstein?

Yes, which meant that they would be MUCH easier to point out as the ones profiting from the common folk’s misery. What, exactly, is your point?

    Huh read the New Testament?

I thought the Romans were the ones who killed Christ but obviously you have different sources, and even if the Jews did (which they did not), Joshua (Jesus) was a Jew so it would be a case of Jews killing a fellow Jew. Also nobody in the New Testament (at lest in the 4 Gospels) was even a Christian starting with the Man Himself, his mother Miriam (Mary), his family and friends.

You take everything personally.

  135. 135 | June 11, 2009 7:29 am

    re: #134 by Speranza

Yes, Martin Luther, who spent the majority of his life no only fighting against the Catholic church but also defending the jews.

Yes, yes, after years of being rejected he did change his views and wrote some pretty mean things in late 1530′s.

So let’s look at some of the things he said prior to that:

In 1519 Luther challenged the doctrine Servitus Judaeorum (“Servitude of the Jews”), established in Corpus Juris Civilis
    Corpus Juris Civilis

The Corpus Juris Civilis is the modern name for a collection of fundamental works in jurisprudence, issued from 529 to 534 by order of Justinian I, Byzantine Emperors….
    by Justinian I
    Justinian I

Flavius Petrus Sabbatius Iustinianus , AD 482 or 483 ? 13 or 14 November 565, was the second member of the Justinian Dynasty and List of Roman Emperors from 527 until his death….
in 529. He wrote: “Absurd theologians defend hatred for the Jews. … What Jew would consent to enter our ranks when he sees the cruelty and enmity we wreak on them—that in our behavior towards them we less resemble Christians than beasts?”

His turning point was when he believed that he was poisoned. Was he? who knows. You’ll say that he wasn’t.

Most of Martin Luther’s life was spent defending the jews in the catholic and (budding) protestant circles. All of that is ignored.

That is, and pretty much always has been, my point.

My only personal experience of contention with the jewish folk are the ones I’ve met who think I am good enough to talk to and die to protect them, but consider me inferior when it comes to marriage, suggesting that I ‘weaken’ the bloodline.

Racism is Racism, no matter how it is defended.
