How about some freaking amnesty for citizens?
TFK’s been warning us.
They say it’s a myth that lemmings really commit mass suicide. Not so western countries.
Lou’s a racist. That’s it.
Good God. POS does not even come close to describing this bill.

Legal immigrants should be outraged at this bill.
A lot of Independents that voted for Obama must be getting buyer’s remorse right about now.
My girlfriend is a hard working, law abiding, tax paying LEGAL alien.
She has been contributing to this Country for the past 20 years.
This Amnesty Bill is an insult to every single Legal alien residing in The United States of America.
And we all know damned well that it is just another attempt by the Democratic Party to increase its base and gain complete control.
I am now absolutely convinced that they want to destroy this country and turn it into their own socialist workers paradise.

I think that Goddess will agree that there are more suitable and expressive words which have more than four letters, which we would rather see Netizens use, especially when two or more of them go at it hammer and tongs. We must also accept that on the odd occasion it is natural to let off an f bomb but we hope that this happens on the odd occasion.
Is “Mandy Manners” meant to be an ironic name?
@ WrathofG-d:
Well, I see the humor, but from a Jewish viewpoint it could be seen as a bit risquée, coming as close as it does to violating the Second Commandment. I mean, if you’re going to write “G-d” and not “God” in your nic, do you really want to using humorous representations of the aforementioned deity as an avatar? No problem with me, man, but you might want to think that over.
@ Eliana:
Yes, like “Family Court”
Or, “Long Island Expressway”
@ wolfie:
Off Topic:
When it comes to religion, I think that watering it down, or using gimmicks cheapens it, and is disgusting. Religion is not a thing to be sold, but instead a worship, a way of life, a practice, a being.
On Topic:
The only reason I can think of for these types of amnesty plans is a larger desire to destroy borders in general. Just another step on the road to International community.
@ Moe Katz:
You bring up an interesting point and one I would have to think about deeper, but I didn’t make the image, and the image is not of G-d, but instead a character in a Monty Python movie. There is no question as to if I am using it or consider it an idol. This representation is no more of the actual G-d, then any other character in the Monty Python series.
@ WrathofG-d:
Yeah, I dunno. Maybe ask your rabbi.
@ BuddyG:
Same with my mother. And it makes her doubly angry when people against illegal immigration are called racist. (She really is a wise Latina!)
@ Moe Katz:
Yes it surely would make sense to get an opinion from a rabbi, but I could probably guess at what he would say – and that doesn’t mean I would agree.
Doesn’t hurt to ask though I guess.
@ WrathofG-d:
I mean, it is a kind of parody of Hashem and it appears over the word “G-d”. Your call, anyway.
@ WrathofG-d:
Amen to both statements.
I’m very modern, Wrath, but I’m just not used to any sort of religious iconography in Judaism, I find it jarring.
@ Moe Katz:
But that is the point. It isn’t a parody of Hashem. No one in their right mind would really consider that image to be of G-d, or a true imagine in His likeness. It is a character in a Monty Python skit. Furthermore, the 2nd Commandment centers around idol worship (in my opinion) and there is no question as to if I am using this image as an idol.
I know you are being intentionally provocative, but I’ll grant you that it is an interesting question that you bring up.
Orthodox Jews are modern, too, by the way.
@ Eliana:
What are your thoughts on “Moe Katz’s” statement?
@ WrathofG-d:
I’m fairly certain that a picture of W. R. Grace wearing a crown is not a form of blasphemy.
@ WrathofG-d:
As I just posted, I’m not just being provocative; it really makes me uncomfortable. If you’re going to write your nic “G-d” I don’t think you should fool around with images like that. But I’m not so observant, and anyway it’s your call.
@ WrathofG-d:
I think you’re right that the image is just from a skit.
G-d Himself isn’t limited by time or the physical world, so the idea that G-d might look like an actor in a Monte Python skit had never occurred to me.
I think you’re ok with the avatar if it’s what you want.
Wrath, jazz it up and enable animated avatars on the Blogmocracy.
@ BuddyG:
Ha, that is pretty good. Do animated avatars not work here?
OT,
I have not seen Vapig commenting for a while. Does anyone know if she is OK? I thought that she might come in for a quick gloat at the Virginia results and am a little worried at her silence. I hope everything is all right on her side.

@ Bunk X:
I get a little tired of your incapacity to put two intelligent sentences together, but do I nag you about it?
@ African Moondog:

I thought about her as we were discussing the VA results.
@ WrathofG-d:
I’ve always loved your avatar. And I got the joke the first time I saw it. My God has a sense of humor. I hope yours does too.
Now, about “The Castle Anthrax”………..
@ WrathofG-d:

Anyway, for the sake of diversity, check this out.

@ BuddyG:

@ Moe Katz:
Such as? I meant no offense, Moe, I just get tired of hearing the inane bickering.
@ WrathofG-d:
Is that the golden blight? Sheesh, mosques all kind of look the same to me.

“Of COURSE it’s a good idea.”
@ BuddyG:
Yup, that is it.
Anyway, I’m off soon, but sometimes around here I feel like Mickey.
@ BuddyG:
To be fair, some mosques are architectural and artistic masterpieces.
Is it a representation of God…. or a parodic representation of the representation of the “God” who appears as a stock character in grade B movies?
Here’s a question. Is representing God with Morgan Freeman in Bruce Almighty blasphemous? Would an avatar with him in that role be a representation of God?
@ African Moondog:
Yes, many mosques are aesthetically beautiful, but even so, they tend to look alike.

From the Huff Po,
“Barack Obama is a leader of great capacities and great contradictions. Perhaps the measure of his capacities is the magnitude of his contractions. He is a man of exceptional grace. But the grace misleads; this is a politician of intense ambition, discipline and grit. He understands and wields the power of the word. But his soaring oratory misleads, for his temperament is moderate; his predilection is for compromise. He rouses a new generation to politics, but prefers to cut the deals in the backrooms. He calls us to a new direction, then staffs his administration’s team with the acolytes of the old ideas he scorns.
One year is too soon to measure a president or assess an administration. Hell, this administration has less than half of its political appointees in place.”

Apology accepted!

@ Moe Katz:
You bring up an interesting question. I’ll give you that. But since we are on the topic, maybe we should talk about our violations of the 612 other Commandments, and why it is only this one that bothers you so much.

And as for the people he appointed to his cabinet, aren’t many of them—except for fellow radicals like Holder— window dressing? What about all the radical Czars?
Yikes!
@ WrathofG-d:
I’m really being honest with you. It makes me uncomfortable. I’m just so unused to seeing any sort of religious iconography in a Jewish context, even humorously. I’m not telling you what to do, though, just bringing it to your attention and suggesting you maybe get a rabbinical opinion if that matters to you.
So that’s all. I find it jarring.
Be well, Moe
@ WrathofG-d:
Yes, the Hagia Sophia in Instanbul being a good example. I wonder where the domes come from. Are they a Jewish feature ot were they inspired by old Hindu temples as they do not feature in the older African mosques such as those at Timbuktu. Basically a feature of a House of G-d, (and it does not matter which religion we are talking about), is beauty, magnificence and attention to detail. They were erected with love and reverence, which belies the hate filled sentiments uttered in some of them.
@ Bunk X:
Holy carp. I just learned about the Spinel Twin Law.
Hey! I could go on 1.0 and present myself as an expert in geology!!!
Eliana, do you like the Pirke Avot?
@ Moe Katz:
I would hardly call using a character from Monty Python “religious Iconography”, but I know that is your argument.
My question was however; “why does this 1 possible violation of the 613 Commandments bother you when you are more than happy to ignore the other 612?
@ Eliana:
Heh. Moe likes to yank chains just to get a reaction. He’s a harmless troll IMO. It’s a fun game to play, and I do it too, occasionally.
@ Moe Katz:
I’d like to hear rabbis discuss the relative merits of teaching school children to chant the name of the Great Leader.
Better yet, I’d like to know what in the name of all that is holy is wrong with people who aren’t repulsed at the sight of children being indoctrinated in to a personality cult.
@ wolfie:
List me as a reference! I’ll back up whatever you tell ‘em.
@ WrathofG-d:
You have no idea to what extent I practice the other 613, nor do I know of your observance. That is beneath you.
@ African Moondog:
The domes are of (pre-Christian)Roman origin. There are still some domed Roman temples in the Mediterranean world, I believe, though none quite as impressive or well-preserved as the Pantheon.
@ Crusader Rabbit:
Pretty far off topic, but sure, fine.
@ Moe Katz:
Yeah. Moe’s right. Just what are you sitting on, Wrath?
@ Bunk X:
The truly sad thing is that we could get away with it! No sweat!
@ Moe Katz:
Finally, the true “Moe Katz” comes out. I knew it was inevitable. It usually happens when you are asked to defend your claims and “opions” with something other than “claims and opinions”.
But, to answer your question; I do know because our discussions about religion started on a similar conversation where you criticized Orthodoxy (all of it, and without provocation), and stated your observance (and your complete disgust for “orthodox” observance)
So why don’t you swear (although you could lie) that you follow the 613, or even the 10. Tell me honestly that you even keep Shabbat or keep Kosher and I will give you some leeway.
You don’t have to do any of the above (before you claim me of making an “i’m a better Jew than you argument”, which I am not) but in that case I repeat my initial question about why this one possible violation of one of the 613 Commandments bothers you so much when you don’t care about the other 612.
@ Moe Katz:
Off topic?
You can’t be serious.
@ wolfie:
It would be fun to draw some lizards into the discussion, while getting progressively more absurd. Too easy.

Saudi paedophile to be beheaded
A Saudi court has ruled that a man convicted of raping five children will be beheaded and crucified.
Muhammad Basheer al-Ramaly, 22, left his youngest victim, aged three, stranded in the desert to die.
He was caught when he tried to abduct another boy by offering him a lift home from school in his car.
The court of appeal in Riyadh approved the death sentence handed down in June. Beheading is permitted for serious offences in the conservative kingdom.
More than 40 people have been executed in such a fashion this year.
Reports suggest Ramaly lured children into his car near their school, near the town of Hail, and took them to isolated areas to rape them.
Human rights group Amnesty International has criticized the court proceedings saying Ramaly did not have access to a lawyer during his trial and that there are reports he may suffer from a psychological disorder.
International rights advocates have long been critical of the death sentences in Saudi Arabia, but the authorities defend the practice as a quick and clean form of execution sanctioned by the Islamic faith.
Crucifixion means the body will be attached to wooden beams and displayed in public after the beheading.
@ mawskrat:
Very rugged on the body, more power to her! People used to think I worked third because after all patients sleep all night, light duty.Actually it was to have a bit more autonomy, no supervisors and even the Docs are more pliable at night. Oh wait, let me rephrase that…..

Climate: G77 takes on West
NEW DELHI: The Barcelona talks on climate change saw further fireworks with the chairperson of one of the two parallel tracks of the negotiations coming under fire from G77 countries, including India, for directing the process away from the ambit of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Bali Action Plan, which differentiates between rich countries and the rest.
The Indian delegation warned that the proposals being made by the chairperson and industrialised countries did away with distinctions between developed and developing countries and imposed new commitments on developing countries.
India also strongly disagreed with US on the suggestion that areas of disagreement on crucial issues of a long-term agreement on climate change be sent to respective ministers to decide. India pointed out that it was not mere divergence of viewpoints but the fact that US and others were asking for a deal which fell out of the rules of the UN convention.
Even as the African countries on Tuesday night accepted a temporary truce on the Kyoto Protocol track of negotiations, the G77 and China grouping led a powerful counter offensive against the attempt to hoist a greenhouse gas emission reduction regime on developing countries similar to the one right now in place for industrialised countries.
snip
Russia Still Dragging Its Feet on Climate Change
Russia doesn’t seem to care two bits about global warming, and it’s not hard to see why. Most Russians would probably be happy if the country was a little warmer. Officials even joke that once climate change has run its course, people may start pouring into Siberia instead of trying to escape it. If the polar ice caps melt any further, Russia would be able to drill for oil and gas in the Arctic Ocean, where it’s believed to have huge fossil-fuel reserves. For the rest of the planet, however, the picture is not so cheerful.
To say that Russia is hesitant about tackling climate change is putting it mildly. The last time the world tried to get the country’s cooperation on the issue was in 1997, during negotiations for the Kyoto Protocol (the international treaty on limiting greenhouse-gas emissions). Because Russia is the world’s third largest source of emissions after the U.S. and China, the accord would have failed without it. So the treaty was written in a way that would allow Russia to keep polluting as much as it wanted and grant the country billions of dollars in emissions allowances to sell to other countries that needed to meet their Kyoto commitments. (Read about getting air traffic under control.)

OT,
Some more good news from the recent election. Gun rights won nearly everywhere. In NY-23 it wasn’t even in doubt, as everyone was NRA A rated (although that isn’t necessarily definitive; the NRA supported Jack Brooks in Texas after he voted for the “Assault Weapons” ban. Brooks was definately vulnerable, had the NRA wanted to make it an issue. He lost despite their endorsement). This is an area where the Republicans are stepping on their dick, bit time. Second Amendment rights are a winning position almost everywhere in the country now. Being vocal and leading the fight in gaining back what has already been lost would be a politically smart thing for the Republicans to do. Even if the Democrats try to say “me, too” on the issue, the Republican would be seen as the leader. that isn’t going to hurt them, really, at all. Any place where being pro-Second Amendment is going to hurt them, the Republicans don’t stand a chance anyway. Not unless they run a Super-RINO like Bloomberg. It is hard to count that as a victory for the Republican Party.

from a military standpoint, katushas are pretty worthless. They don’t have any degree of accuracy. The concept of accuracy isn’t built into them. They are terrorist weapons, pure and simple. That wasn’t what i was really talking about. I’d take any AK-47s, RPDs, or, if I’m lucky, a PKM.
They are making a semi-automatic PKM now. It runs between $6000-7000, but damn what a cool toy to own

Their main military use is psychops. They make a fearful screech, like that of a car braking which gets louder and louder which ends in a god almighty bang. You know, I haven’t had the time or inclination to really look over there for a week or so. I did gather that Charles was all happy-happy joy-joy over Hoffman losing, but typically ignorant of any of the real significance of what happened there. What are they discussing today? KKKilgore burn some more virtual crosses to show how”racist” his opponents are?
Good morning all!
The reason the dems and their stenographers are so upset about V is because it shows them for who they really are. Perhaps the V’s that try to help the humans will come to represent the ‘Blue Dogs’, if they stand up and defeat this p.o.s. healthcare debacle as well as the climate change bill.

I was a huge fan of the original in the 1980′s – Jane Badler was a most delicious villainess.
Since they scripted before the election and filmed after, I think homage to Kenneth Johnson’s original “V” allegory to Nazism was what they were actually intending – unfortunately, the progress of this current administration is a little too shockingly similar.
All in all, I thought it was okay – except that the reveal of the Visitors’ true nature was a little too quick. There will be five episodes then the show will go on hiatus until after the holidays.
I have heard one rumor, for what it’s worth, that the “Administration” is not very happy about it and demanded that one of the “runners” be changed, and ABC complied.

Speaking of Michelle Bachman, has anyone seen any video or heard any news as to the gathering on the Capitol steps today – on Mark Levin’s show for the past two days, people have been calling to say they’re boarding buses and planes to get themselves to D.C. for the anti-health care “TEA” party at the Capitol – after which they are going to enter the building to try and see their Congressman.
I expect to see several things today: (1) a crowd of 10,000 or more; (2) Nazi Pelousy deny access to the Capitol building to them, calling them a “mob” of “astroturfing racists”; (3) the MSM to ignore it completely; and (4) Congress critters to run out the back door or lock their office doors to the people whose votes they’ll be seeking a year from now.
Oh, and I look to the moron who runs 1.0 to call it a gathering of Ron Paulian birthers who believe in God and therefore don’t have a clue.
@ African Moondog:

Actually a lot of jihad news goes completely ignored or even denigrated over there these days (Rifqa).
@ African Moondog:
Heh™ I bet Corzine thinks all the other races were irrelevant, too. Did you see my earlier post about NY-23? It appears that all the candidates involved ranked as pro-Second Amendment. That surprised me. Don’t get me wrong, I wish Hoffman had won, but if he had to lose, then I’d prefer a pro-Second Amendment Democrat to an anti-Second Amendment Democrat. Ultimately, I’d like to see gun control become as irrelevant as seggregation (and as universally despised as seggregation). I don’t expect to see that in my lifetime, though.
@ The Osprey:
Lovely. He does seem to have a hate on for Michelle Bachman. Maybe he made a pass at her and she shot him down
Despite my personal grievances, I almost feel sorry for Charles. He had something really good going and he’s rammed it into the ground for no rational reason that I can see. ah, well. If they don’t want to be sent home, I’d suggest they change their party affiliation. The big thing next year is going to be to change the MAJORITY party in Congress to get Pelousy and Reid out of there. Being a Blue Dog won’t cut it, even if you’re a Democrat – because a Dem winning the seat keeps Pelousy in power.
Of course, they could see the writing on the wall and tell Nazi behind closed doors that she needs to step down, that the country hates her and every time she opens her mouth she’s an embarrassment to the Party. But since when do Donks admit mistakes.
The BIGGEST mistake Nazi could do today is deny access to the Capitol Building to the TEA party people looking to talk to their Congress critter. So of course, she’ll do just that – the woman is a moron.
Damn, that is a “Piece of shit bill.” I guess the only way to get around it is to go to Mexico, apply for citizenship there and then run back across the Rio Grande to all the fabulous rewards and benefits that Americans don’t get but must pay for.
Elderly American citizens, in particular, are looking at all their hard work slip through their fingers. They will be the first to suffer as illegals siphon off first rights to Health Care and Welfare (food stamps, college money, tax benefits when they have never paid taxes.)
Libs see these illegals as future voters to keep them in power.

KKKalifornia is a lost cause. You all passed the ammo ban after the 9th Circuit ruled that Heller applied to the State. Surely someone will sue, and unless the Supreme Court surprises us next June, the ammo ban will be thrown out in due course. This should be a reletively inexpensive lesson for you all. It makes sense to have a reasonable supply of ammo on hand for all your weapons (not that any of y’all have weapons, but, you know, as if). It requires a bit of overhead expenditure to get the initial stock, but then all you have to do is replace it as you use it.

@ Iron Fist:
Fist, it’s not so much an ammo “ban” per se, as it is an infringement on the freedom to buy it. You can buy all the ammo you want in California – however, you will need to be fingerprinted when you do so (we have always had to show ID for any purchases other than shotgun shells). Additionally, it bans sales of ammunition over the internet, in direct contravention of federal interstate commerce laws. I think the law will be struck down in federal court on the internet sales section (which is fine with me, since that’s how we’re able to get most of our ammunition these days).
Of course, me and Flyboy are just going to go for a nice Saturday drive to Nevada to Cabellas and grab what we can when we run low.
CJ is very simple…he needs a bogeyman…it started with Muslims, then went to Dan Rather, then Hamas…now, he has turned and he demonizes Beck, Rush, Ron Paul, Tea Parties and other various people that he sees at neo-nazis. All it takes is one comment by someone that fits his paranoid beliefs and he turns on them…ranting for weeks in his posts.
I noticed a few weeks back someone was asking him, and the other lizards, what pundits they liked or who they read. Not one answer other than “go read for yourself”. It struck me that CJ would never answer that question because someday he might want to turn on that person and wouldn’t want to be on record as supporting or liking them.
I know there was at least one post a few years back where CJ’s nipples got all hard because Rush had mentioned him on his radio show…guess it was okay to look past his “racist” statements back then…
Even a five-point swing in 2010 could bring a tidal wave of change

@ typicalwhitey:
that is to be hoped for, but we are going to have to work for it. And even after it happens, we need to be holding the Republican’s feet to the fire on the issues that are important: fiscal responsibility, low taxes, small government. It should be noted that even after the sweep in 1994 the Republicans didn’t care to or couldn’t muster the votes to repeal the “Assault Weapons” ban. That is unacceptible. And that is something that has me really concerned. Suppose we do sweep it next year. The democrats could call a lame duck session and pass all kinds of shit legislation. would the Republicans have the balls to repeal it? History suggests not.
The Republicans have not been particularly good stewards of the public trust. It is just that, by comparison to the Democrats, they become acceptable to the alternative.

New Jersey and Virginia should speak loud and clear:
Fiscal Responsibility will win.
Lower taxes will win.
All they have to do is run against the policies that are killing the country fiscally and they will win.

@ Iron Fist:
They squandered the majority they achieved in the 90′s by turning into RINO’s and tax and spenders as much as the Donks did. They should have told Bush flat out NO on amnesty. And when the Donks came to them with that “let’s share the power – in ‘fairness’” they should have given them their marching orders.
One can only hope that this will be a lesson learned by them in next year’s election. First, run as conservatives; second, when/if you win the majority and the Donks come with their “share” plan, tell them you remember 2006-2010 and no way in hell; and third, vote NO, NO, a thousand times NO on any amnesty, new taxes, bailouts and stimulus.
David Harmer got 45% of the vote in the California 10th special election. That is saying a LOT for this district, which went over 60% for the big Zero in 2008.
Yesterday Rush was talking about Andy Spano getting trounced in Blue Westchester County in N.Y. by Republican Rob Asterino who hosts the Catholic Channel and interviews the Cardinal once a week.
Fck the MSM and the libs who say we are going to lose because of social issues. The religious Republican won by 16% over a long time Dem. incumbent. I wonder if CJ has addressed this.
