Thank you Goddess for the list. Brady, who was on the last prayer list, no longer needs our prayers but the family he left behind certainly do. So please include them, and all others who suffer inconceivable loss, in our prayers.

Goddess, it is sure nice to have people like you and the rest of this blog.
I would like to add one Name on your prayer list:

    The United States Of America

After last nights vote in the house we are all going to need prayers.

Thank you, Goddess, for the prayer list. Could you please add our beloved country, the United States of America, to the list? In view of the looming disasters on the horizon, prayers are desperately needed. Thank you.

We all will need our god to get this next few months. I hope that the old adage of “If God stands with us, who can oppose us?” is true.

In my 50 some years as a viable thiking adult I have never seen anything like what we are going through now..it is downright scary.

    @ Conservative Democrat:
This morning, when I found out that this atrocity had passed the House, my thoughts about Pelosi and the others who rammed this through were such that had I voiced them publicly, I would be banned from The Blogmocracy for life.

This is from the previous post, I thought it should be posted on a newer post for all to see. after I read the bad news I decided to go to opencongress, com and find out what the actual tally was. It is good to see a lot of “Democrats” in “against” aisle but very sad to see one RINO in the for side.

Perhaps the root of our current problems is that we, as a nation, have made “God” the unspeakable word and portayed believers in Him as simpletons and fools.

Perhaps we’re being “slapped around” in order to remind us that our prosperity and good fortune has ultimately flowed from Him, and we are not to forget the role that He plays in the continuation of that prosperity.

This is very true, I really hope that the “God forgive them, they know not what they do” is applicable here. I also think the lack of ANY diety of our lives have lead us down this path. I as a non practicing Catholic, have decided to ammedd my ways and vow to return to the church. I really think all of us need to get back to our basics and include our religion in our daily lives.

This is nice. What potus thinks of patriotic dissent.

Mr. Obama, during his private pep talk to Democrats, recognized Mr. Owens election and then posed a question to the other lawmakers. According to Representative Earl Blumenauer of Oregon, who supports the health care bill, the president asked, “Does anybody think that the teabag, anti-government people are going to support them if they bring down health care? All it will do is confuse and dispirit” Democratic voters “and it will encourage the extremists.”

    GODDESS— Thank you so much.

Please add RedneckNaRocknRollBar to the list. He (or she?)has been looking for you to ask that his (her?) name be on the list. The problem is either nerve damage on one side of the brain or epilepsy. The docs aren’t exactly sure yet, so I guess ‘neurological problems’ will have to do for now.

And I second the motion to add the United States of America to the list.

    From Mark Steyn this morning:

If it were done when ’tis done, then ’twere well it were done quickly [Mark Steyn]

I don’t like to say I told you so, but I’ve been saying for months now that the trick is to drag this thing across the finish line with 50.0000000000001 per cent of the vote as soon as possible. From my “Happy Warrior” column in NR back in July:

Obama believes in “the fierce urgency of now”, and fierce it is. That’s where all the poor befuddled sober centrists who can’t understand why the Democrats keep passing incoherent 1,200-page bills every week are missing the point. If “health care” were about health care, the devil would be in the details. But it’s not about health or costs or coverage; it’s about getting over the river and burning the bridge. It doesn’t matter what form of governmentalized health care gets passed as long as it passes. Once it’s in place, it will be “reformed”, endlessly, but it will never be undone.

Right now, they can trade anything – abortion, death panels, whatever. The trick is to plant the seed and let the ratchet effect of Big Government take care of the rest. I said on Rush’s show on Friday that if Barack Obama had been Bill Clinton he’d have woken up on Wednesday morning and begun triangulating. Instead, Obama woke up and figured that he needed more fierce urgency, and right now. The short-term hit in 2010 is worth it for the long-term benefits: Obscure congressmen will be just as happy as obscure ambassadors or obscure chairmen of obscure agencies. And the prize of permanent irreversible statist annexation merits the risk:
Governmentalized “health care” puts us on the fast track to Euro-sclerosis and redefines the relationship between citizen and state in ways that make genuine conservative politics all but impossible.

Will the Senate stop it? And, if they don’t, will a post-2010 GOP Congress reverse it? The way they reversed, say, the federal Department of Education?

Yesterday was a tragedy for America. Hence, the Bard in the headline. And while I’m quoting Macbeth, let me cite Mrs Thatcher on who gets stuck with the tab for all of this:

‘To borrow and to borrow and to borrow’ is not Macbeth with a heavy cold. It is Labour Party policy. Most people do not want to mortgage the future and leave their children to pick up the bill.

“Most” people? We’ll see about that.

“That is not very flattering ***. In today’s fast paced world of the sound bite and cut and pasted links, the true danger is that those who post OPINIONS which I fully admit am one of and am proud to do so, do not begin their statements responsibly enough by using the words “I think” or “we feel” if speaking for a group. Instead, if you care to … Read Morelook at your positions, and those of others who pose as ultimately correct like Mr. Bush used to so often it was sickening, statements are made to apear to be fact when they too are only OPINIONS of either individuals much like us or groups of them. Using your words….”back up a minute” and go into all of your posts. Try to retype them with the words “I feel” or “I found this to be interesting and would like to share this with you” before your blogs and you will then earn the respect you are trying to get. Until you can begin with the humility that you nor those you promote do not in fact know it al with 100% certaintyl, you will never be taken seriously by real american thinkers. I respect what you do and your passion, but I feel you might want to consider taking a more humble, less agressive approach so you don’t come off so hate filled. I mean, c’mon, you are clearly trying to be helpful and for that you deserve some real credit. You may just want to try not to alienate your readers.”

Since the beginning of our nation we have professed our faith in God and He has stood with us. I’m afraid now that we have a POTUS who has declared that we are no longer a Christian nation God has left our side. I can’t see any other reason for the evil that has been allowed to take over. I’ll keep praying to Him for our country and for all of those that Goddess has on the prayer list because miracles do happen and we all need one now.

This may seem like a strange thanksgiving, but the NFL has devoted today to the troops and are doing the best pregame show EVER right now in Afghanistan. so, I appreciate the NFL and the USA and all the sponsors who made this possible. The troops are loving it. And the hosts are so gracious to them. I’m sure this took a lot of hard work and planning from a large number of people too.

No such luck. Remember the purple Hamas fingers in 2006 and the carving up of Israel every recent POTUS continues to do.

  58. 59 | November 8, 2009 09:16

    @ Kirly:
the hosts are even playing some football with the troops!

they are doing all sorts of tributes and pre-recorded statements of aprpeciation from members of the NFL to the troops and little historical blurbs about their own family members who have served. It’s great.

    @ ms.p.henry:
imo, we (collectively, as a nation) have left God’s side. Look at the history of the UK. Remember, the sun never set on the British empire until her support of Israel waned. We will suffer the same fate. It’s in The Bible… I will bless him that blesses thee; I will curse him that curses thee.

yes, and the only people who can change it are folks like us. we have to overcome so much – ignorance of the populace who keep voting in the corrupt idiots (barney frank the pothead whore for one) and marxist, apathy of the populace who just don’t bother to vote or who think things like the public option HC will never affect them, voter fraud (which, imo, is rampant wherever voting by mail occurs and i will NEVER do that). i’m sure the list is huge. it’s quite daunting.

ROTFLMAO… The face is probably close, he was after all Jewish, but he was also a Carpenter so he probably wasnt 110lbs, and the Gospels suggest that he was of above average height, so the suggesting of him being 5’1″ is probably wrong as well. He was probably closer to 6’1″ and 220lbs. Also because he was a Galilean his hear was probably long, black and very curly.

To quote Wright: “a Black man”.

I agree he probably was a lot more Middle Eastern than the white hippy depictions that the Europeans show, but he wasn’t black. Unless you want to buy this replacement theology stuff.

  112. 113 | November 8, 2009 10:12

    @ waldensianspirit:
you know, if that picture is representative of the folks who lived in the area at the time, then maybe Jesus did look similar to that picture. i agree that the blond, blue-eyed representations are not likely to be accurate. But, i don’t think what his eartthly body looked like is in the least bit important.

  113. 114 | November 8, 2009 10:17

    @ snork:

Oh there is no way he was a “effiminate white hippy”, that whole image was Roman propaganda. Remember, the Romans spread the rumor that his mother was a whore and his father was a Roman solider. It was one of their attempts to discredit him as the Messiah.

  115. 116 | November 8, 2009 10:24

yeah, i think your description is much more likely. The man was a carpenter in a time when it was 100% manual labor. He was strong. He also scared the bejeebers (no pun intended) out of the money changers when he turned over their tables so there is no way he was a puny 110 pounds.

  116. snork
    117 | November 8, 2009 10:26

Please don’t be sidetracked by what this bill means to our economy and future debt.

This bill will make YOUR Health (and therefore your LIFE/DEATH) decisions for you. Not your doctor, not your relatives (if you are incapacitated) but some nameless federal bureaucrat in an office far from accountability and oversight.

Even if you are young or remain healthy for a long time, this bill will seize your property and put you in jail if you do not comply with their funding demands and/or the coverage requirements MANDATED by this bill for having a plan to cover any future Health Care costs.

This is UNCONSTITUTIONAL and should be rebelled against out of hand. Regardless of whether something needs to be done about Health Care Costs, Coverage or the lack of some people to participate.

If the government can REQUIRE YOU TO PURCHASE INSURANCE FOR JUST BEING ALIVE then they can require you to PURCHASE OR DO ANYTHING THEY CAN PASS A BILL FOR.

This is totally in violation of the Spirit of the Founding of this Nation. Stand up regardless of the outcome of this bill in the Senate. We must make clear our displeasure and our power by voting the petty Tyrants that have attempted to USURP THE AUTHORITY OF THE CONSTITUTION AND OF THE PEOPLE. We must be ready to participate in outright rebellion if this passes. To not do so condemns our posterity to enslavement and destitution until the chains now being forged are finally cast off (and at what price?).

DO NOT pass this burden of tending to the tree of Liberty and Freedom

The tree of Liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of Patriots and Tyrants.” Thomas Jefferson

to our posterity. We must FIGHT NOW. To do anything else will condemn our generation to the jeers and disdain of HISTORY (if their is one for this Country) besides invoking a future of slavery and drudgery on our children.

We will never be through with our fight for Liberty, because there will always be people who do not want the responsibility of freedom, and there will always be people who will gladly take that responsibility away from them, for the power it brings.” N. Scott Mills

Thanks for the prayers. Very much needed. John’s (brother-in-law) memorial services were so hard to get through, but God’s presence was felt. My sister is slowing down some, now that the memorials have been held, which is starting to “freak [her] out”, as she says. She’s trying to get things cleared up with insurance, truck loans, school loans, etc. this week; my other sister and I would do that for her, but don’t want to take away the ever-shrinking sense of control over her life that she has left. My sisters and I have a hard time accepting help, especially when it is given freely.

I’m trying to keep myself from slipping into the familiar isolation-as-coping-mechanism which usually portends my depression surfacing. Telling myself it’s just a reaction to John’s suicide, but I don’t know.

Thank you again for those prayers, my sister (and John’s family) will need them desperately within the coming weeks and months.
