The 1960′s Cultural Revolution Still Leaving Mark On Society

by WrathofG-d ( 190 Comments › )
Filed under Politics, Progressives, Socialism at November 17th, 2009 - 2:45 pm

The 1960′s were a turning point in America where the Progressives of that time overturned the old “outdated” mores of their parents. The result of this cultural revolution, and spreading of the associated Liberal values throughout the previously conservative society, and ideals of that time -including the incorrectly lauded “sexual revolution”- continues to make its negative mark on society: Sex infections still growing in U.S., says CDC

So what is the response to this horrible result of the failed Progressive/Liberal policies of the 1960′s which brought us, free-sex, excessive drug use, free-condoms, teaching sex in schools, and the chasing of personal responsibility, and religion, etc. out of society?

More of it of course! The complete backwardness of this article evidences the effort Liberals will take to not have to question their underlying Progressive/Liberal assumptions.

In the headline, they tell us that STD’s are spreading. This is in a post-1960′s environment where sex is practically everywhere, including the schools.

Then, they give us this doozy, not based in reality of course, of what the cause is – Conservative ideals of course!

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – American squeamishness about talking about sex has helped keep common sexually transmitted infections far too common, especially among vulnerable teens, U.S. researchers reported Monday.

Are you kidding me? Who isn’t talking about sex? And seriously, let’s compare these numbers to the pre-1960s when sex wasn’t being taught, and sold everywhere.

Thereafter, just in case you missed the upside down thinking of the Left, they let you know who is really to blame:

The administration of President Barack Obama has signaled a willingness to move away from so-called abstinence-only sex education approaches promoted by his predecessor, George W. Bush, and conservative state and local governments.

Yea, I see. Its all George Bush’s fault. Sure the social problems in America got exponentially worse after the Progressive Cultural Revolution of the 1960s, but its really George W. Bush’s fault within the last approximately 8 years.

It is said that Albert Einstein defined insanity as doing the exact same thing over and over again expecting the same (oops!) a different result. This however won’t deter a Progressive when the alternative is having to admit that their social policies of rampant liberal morality are causing problems, of course. No, the solution to the fact that STD’s and other socially liberal results are occuring is more of the same apparently – we just haven’t been discussing sex enough!

“We are not honestly and openly dealing with this issue and it’s the larger issue of sexual health,” he said.

Douglas said children and teens need to know about condom use, and should limit their number of sex partners and avoid sex with people who do have many other sex partners.

“If you are a man who has sex with men you ought to be getting a battery of STD tests every year,” Douglas added.

Luckily, there is this: Vaccines on Horizon for AIDS, herpes…

Yea, compared to today the 1950s lifestyle just looks horrible doesn’t it?

To say that today we are “Not talking about sex” is ludicrous. It’s in their face everywhere. Abortions, up. Teen pregancy up, STD’s up.

Sex sells. Always has, always will.

The American public shows it’s insanity every voting cycle when they keep returning Democrats to office. And then scratch their heads as to why the country is failing.
If it wasn’t sofa king deadly serious, it would be funny.

So its Bush’s fault for not giving everyone a monthly case of condems and free aids testing?

What do those of us who don’t fuck everything with a heartbeat get for not using our state issued condom allowance….carbon credits for not using resources? Can I get ammo and toilet paper instead?

Was this accidentally cross-posted from The Onion or something?

How about if children just don’t have sex? Wouldn’t that be simpler?

I was reading an article about the increase in std’s among our youth. In the article the false claim was made that abstinence doesn’t work, these people are messed up, the kids who practice abstinence are not the ones getting sick.

In my opinion the worst thain that came out of the Sexual Revolution is the sexualization of children.
Little girl tweeners dress up like hos & their mothers take them to the mall to get the clothes.
It really seems like a theft of innocence.

    @ RIX:

The point I was trying to get across here, and I think I failed, (too busy at real work) was that we as a society, led by our Liberal educators, media, political correctness, etc., continue to mock those who point out things like “Bratz” dolls, the sexualization of our children, etc., while simultaneously ignoring the effect they are, and similar things actually HAVE had on our society.

Government issued condoms are made by the lowest bidder! I remember we used to get G.I. condoms in the mess hall, they had a whole box of them right by the door, I also recall everyone who used those things would complain about them breaking.

There is a lot of pressure on kids to get sexually active.
It’s in the music , TV & movies, plus peer pressure.

I have an 18 yr old daughter. She has one boyfirned and has been sexually active with 2-3 other boys so far. We are close and she tells me these things. She gets depressed because all her childhood girlfriends are basically Hoes, fucking any and every guy they are attracted to, and bragging about how they “hooked up”. She tried real hard to stay a virgin, but hormones do what they do and at about 15 came to me and asked if she could get birth control. I said yes and took her to the doctor to get it, telling her it won’t stop AIDS, or most VD, only a condom can help with those, and they are not 100%. I described in detail what different types of VD will do to you and your reproductive organs. I also told her if she gets prego I would give her the beating of her life, kick her out of MY house, and her life would be in ruins. Its hard having girls when the sluts of the day are on every magazine cover getting knocked up all the time and almost never married.

    Brief Candles:

There she sits her hands are held
    Tight around her glass
She only needs to be alone
She knows this mood will pass
To realize that she was strong
And he too weak to stay
And to realize that she is better off this way

    Brief candles in her mind
Bright and tiny gems of memory
    Brief candles burn so fine
Leaves a light inside where she can see
    What makes it all worthwhile
    Her sadness makes her smile…

    His alone girl fades away
    Left out on a limb
Finds he needs her more because
She’s no more need for him
    He understood so very well
The things she had to say
Soon he’ll understand that he is better off this way

    Brief candles in his mind…….

Liberals think that they are so edgey when they trash convention.
It plays into their concept of superiority, that the rules don’t apply to them. They pass that snatrky attitude on to their children, we have all seen it.
They never stop to think that there might be a reason for convention.

That teenagers using condoms crap does not work. Once a kid gets used to having sex he’s not going to stop just because he doesn’t happen to have a condom on him.

Not sure, but I remember condoms being handed out at the front gates of practically all high schools for a while. There was a basket.

Condoms are a band aid for the symptoms of the larger problem. You cannot walk down the street for 10 seconds without seeing something promoting an immoral lifestyle. There is advertising everywhere, and it practically all consists of some whore, or sexual situation selling something.

The Left creates this environment then tells us that it is natural and unavoidable. They thereafter will inform you that any steps to actually eliminate it from society is impracticable or oppressive.

They create the problem, maintain it, then tell you they are the ones to save you from it.

I am currently re-reading this book

Slouching Towards Gomorrah: Modern Liberalism and American Decline is a 1996 book by former United States Court of Appeals judge Robert H. Bork. Bork’s thesis in the book is that American and more generally Western culture is in a state of decline and that the cause of this decline is modern liberalism and the rise of the New Left. Specifically, he attacks modern liberalism for what he describes as its dual emphases on radical egalitarianism and radical individualism. The title of the book is a play on the last couplet of W. B. Yeats’s poem The Second Coming: “And what rough beast, its hour come round at last, / Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?” Bork contends that the “rough beast of decadence … now sends us slouching towards our new home, not Bethlehem but Gomorrah.”

Bork first traces the rapid expansion of modern liberalism that occurred during the Sixties, arguing that this legacy of radicalism demonstrates that the precepts of modern liberalism are antithetical to the rest of the American political tradition. He then attacks a variety of social, cultural, and political experiences as evidence of American cultural decline and degeneracy. Among these are affirmative action, increased violence in and sexualization of mass media, the legalization of abortion, pressure to legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia, feminism and the decline of religion.

    Whole Wide Wold:

When I was a young boy
    My mama said to me
There’s only one girl in the world for you
And she probably lives in Tahiti

I’d go the whole wide world
I’d go the whole wide world
    Just to find her

Or maybe she’s in the Bahamas
Where the Carribean sea is blue
Weeping in a tropical moonlit night
Because nobody’s told her ’bout you

I’d go the whole wide world
I’d go the whole wide world
    Just to find her
I’d go the whole wide world
I’d go the whole wide world
Find out where they hide her

Why am I hanging around in the rain out here
Trying to pick up a girl
Why are my eyes filling up with these lonely tears
When there’re girls all over the world

Is she lying on a tropical beach somewhere
    Underneath the tropical sun
Pining away in a heatwave there
    Hoping that I won’t be long……

I am also sick of the “kids can’t help it” bullsheet. Only animals living in the wild “cannot help it”Only human beings are able to determine right from wrong and make decisions based on this knowledge. The problems began in the 60s when little was considered immoral by many baby boomers. If it “felt” good.Today parents are often disconnected from their kids, many are more concerned with being their pals instead of mentors.

Anybody remember this big hit from the early-mid Sixties? It is about a woman refusing premarital sex in order to avoid bearing an out-of-wedlock child like herself—even though she knows she’ll lose the man for turning him down:

    Love Child
    —Diana Ross and the Supremes

    Tenement slum
    Ooh, ooh, ooh….aaaahhh

You think that I don’t feel love
What I feel for you is real love
In other’s eyes I see reflected
    A hurt, scorned, rejected

    Love child
    Never meant to be
    Love Child
    Born in poverty
    Love Child
    Never meant to be
    Love Child
    Take a look at me

    Started my life
In a old, cold, run-down tenement slum (tenement slum)
My father left he never even married mama
I shared the guilt my mama knew
So afraid that others knew I had no name

    This love we’re contemplatin’
Is worth the pain of waitin’
    We’ll only end up hatin’
The child we may be creatin’

    Love Child
    Never meant to be
    Love Child
    (Scorned by) Society
    Love Child
    Always second best
    Love Child
(Different from) Different from the rest

(Hold on hold on just a little bit longer) Mmmmm baby
(Hold on hold on just a little bit longer) Mmmmm baby

    I started school
And a worn, torn dress that somebody threw out
    (Somebody threw out)
I knew the way it felt to always live in doubt
To be without the simple things
So afraid my friends would see the guilt in me

    Don’t think that I don’t need ya
Don’t think I don’t want to please ya
But no child of mine will be bearing
The name of shame I’ve been wearing

    Love Child
    Love Child
    Never quite as good
    Afraid, ashamed
    Misunderstood

    But I’ll always love you
    Always love you
    I’ll always love you
    Always love you

I was right with you up to: “I also told her if she gets prego I would give her the beating of her life, kick her out of MY house, and her life would be in ruins.”

I would like to think that after educating my daughter to the best of my ability, acknowledging that it is hard to put the genie back in the bottle because sex is just so much damn fun and seeing that she got the best medical care available — all of which you did — IF she still managed to get pregnant, my support wouldn’t just stop. My love for my daughter (a few years younger than yours) is not conditioned upon successful birth control.

I would do my best to see that a mistake did not cost her, and my grandchild, a chance at success and happiness. I would rather help with another child than see my daughter suffer through what single parents (and let’s face it, do I want her marrying the guy anyway?) lacking family support go through.

At least I think this is what I think I would do if she wasn’t headed for the convent.

What offends me is the fucking Tween Hooker look. I mean, WTF? 12 year olds with “Juicy” written across their ass, and outfits that would make a stripper blush. No shit dancers don’t dress that way away from the club. The kids don’t know no better, but the parents have to buy this shit.

It is disgusting, and it is not attractive. If I want a hooker, I’ll go to a whorehouse and get a hooker (well, not now, but I’m just saying). I don’t need to see 12 year olds looking like they are peddeling ass in my mall or at the grocery store.

I found this in my notes, here’s what’s NOT to do.

10 ways to make your son a delinquent

1 Give them everything they want from infancy, this way they’ll grow up thinking the world owes them something

2 When they pick up bad words laugh at them, this way they’ll think that they’re cute and amusing.

3 never give them any spiritual training, wait until he’s 21 and let them decide on their own.

4 pick up after them/ do everything for them (clothes, books, things on the floor), this way they will have experience putting responsibility on others.

5 Quarrel frequently in their presence, this way when the home breaks up they are prepared for it.

6 Give him all the money you can, this way they never learn to earn on their own.

7 Satisfy he’s every craving for food clothing and comfort, denial could lead to frustration.

8 Take his side against neighbors, teachers and police officers, they’re all prejudiced against your child anyways.

9 when he gets into trouble apologize for yourself saying “I could never do anything with him”

10 prepare yourself for a life of grief…you earned it.

I can NOT sit with my kids and watch TV. Yeah, I’ll admit, I’ve seen some ‘South Park’ episodes that made me chuckle… but the night my son put it on
and I turned to see a transexual school teacher getting anally raped on the edge of a bed…
‘Its only a cartoon you dick !’

Oh I see, sorta kinda like Bugs Bunny…what was I THINKIN’ !! (in my best Bugs impression).

And, its this kinda mindset they’re talking about – I’m going to get my kids
KILLED some day with all my high moral BS !
I’m convinced AMC is outright OWNED by ‘Lavitra’ or how ever its spelled.
I swear, if I ever run into that couple – I’ve lived over 5 decades with out ever striking a woman…’Oh and the size thing, not that I really needed it but I gotta admit, it was kinda fun do” Yes ‘do’. He sez the word ‘to’ in an ingratiating Joe 6 pack way that has caused me to…I’ll admit it here…kick… the… freakin’…. ‘entertainment center’ that houses my TV – thought I was gonna say “the dog” didn’t ya ?
And WHY does Viagra need to be advertised still ?? What man hasn’t heard of Viagra ? Even Tropical Rain Forrest tribesman know of its existence !!
“I’m having a problem with the plumbing lately….hmmmmm…what to do ? To bad someone couldn’t come up with a drug….”
Every DAMN MAN on the planet Earth new all about Viagra the very first week it went on the market !! GEeeeeezzzzz….you should NOT have started this thread !!!

Sex, sex and more sex. 24/7 sex. Every TV sit-com joke has to somehow include a sexual reference or the show will be canceled ! I’m convinced this is a industry must ! Now, I’m as …. ummm….well, as the next guy and I don’t have a problem with a good bawdy joke here and there but I never thought I’d get to the point or see the day that I’d be yelling at the ceiling ‘Sex,sex, sex… enough ! I’m SICK OF IT !!”

I’m just waiting for this PSA / commercial:

Father to son: “So you have a hot date tonight ? Here, let me give you this here son – you shouldn’t go out without ‘protection’ … (whispers) “So sport, is she a blond, brunette…?”

Son: “Who said it was a ‘she’ dad ?? You’re such a square !!” (chuckle, chuckle).

Father: “Yer right son, still stuck in that last ‘century mid-set’ I guess – you see when your mother and I first ….”

Son “Ok dad, I’d really love to hear the way you and mom used to do it, but I’m in a bit of a hurry…Tom and I have our annual appointment for our battery of STD tests !”

Father: “I raised a smart young man…better get going then son, don’t want to be late !”.

I’ve had all I can stand and I can’t standz no more.

In the Torah, it tells of the Jewish people among some tribe before they go into the Land of Israel. G-d is speaking with Aaron, and behind him a fellow Israelite is practicing the idol worship, and direct violations that G-d had just warned the Jewish people of…. Aaron seeing this responds…

Vice President Biden’s motorcade was involved in a multi-car, West Side collision that sent three people to the hospital during evening rush hour today, sources said.
Biden, who was headed to an appearance on “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart,” was not hurt.
The accident occurred at 5:40 p.m. at West 49th Street and Tenth Avenue, a few blocks from the show’s Eleventh Avenue studio.
Police and fire rescuers rushed to the scene after reports that the Biden motorcade was struck.
Three injured people were taken to Roosevelt Hospital. Biden continued on his way to the studio.
The identities of the victims and their conditions was not immediately known.

Lot was after all observing a tradition that guests were to be treated as equals. And they were also, after all, ministers of the Lord. However, you make a valid point in the bad decision making of Lot. He chose to be there after another faulty decision between him and Abraham and selected to live in the valley for it’s lushness. Greed played a part in his choice and he took advantage of his uncles generosity. And look at how his story ended. Incest.

What is so terrible is that children don’t even have a say when they will become sex objects. It is pushed on them younger and younger. It is a money making proposition so there is no consideration of the possibility that young girls might really prefer to still play with their dolls rather than parade around like hookers. It encourages pedophiles. It robs children of the play time that used to establish bonds of friendship and allow kids to learn abt. life. Play time even exists in the animal world to establish bonds and allow a juvenile to be nurtured by the group until it actually matures. It is just hideous that human beings push their children into dangerous situations way beyond what is appropriate. It is child abuse of the worst order.

I’d go the whole wide world

    Just to find her
Or maybe she’s in the Bahamas

Where the Carribean sea is blue

Weeping in a tropical moonlit night

Because nobody’s told her ’bout you
I’d go the whole wide world

I’d go the whole wide world

    Just to find her

I’d go the whole wide world

I’d go the whole wide world

Find out where they hide her
Why am I hanging around in the rain out here

Trying to pick up a girl

Why are my eyes filling up with these lonely tears

When there’re girls all over the world
Is she lying on a tropical beach somewhere

    Underneath the tropical sun

Pining away in a heatwave there

    Hoping that I won’t be long……

    Old song no one knows.

When my son was 18 a 42 year old crazy woman tried to be his lover. I squashed that as he still lived at home. But I told him that somewhere on Earth there was his girl waiting for him and not to mess it up. He was angry, but he found her a couple years later and they have been married since 1992. Sometimes ma is just plain right.

Wrath, I guess Lot was probably not the best example, after all he did try to sacrifice his virgins to the homosexual agenda. (Gen 19:8).

You do not understand the story.

The sin(s) of Sodom had primarily to do with their rapacity, greed, and hostility to strangers. The story of the destruction of Sodom follows the story of Abraham welcoming the 3 angelic messengers as guests; one announces that Sarah will bear a son, and the remaining two go on to Sodom. Lot, like Abraham, welcomes the guests, but such hospitality was accounted contrary to the laws of Sodom. The men of Sodom assemble, basically as a lynch mob, outside Lot’s house and demand the strangers be turned over to them.

The threatened gang-rape has nothing to do with “the homosexual agenda”—the very concept of “homosexuality” as something separate and distinct does not exist in the Torah—but has to do with humiliating and forcing the submission of the strangers, just as occurs today in prisons among otherwise heterosexual men.

Now, what was Lot to do? The entire town, or most of it, was assembled before his house in an ugly mood. There was no police force he could rely upon, even if he could have called them—whatever form of “watch” there was was out there too. He had no shotgun, no revolver, no automatic weapons; these things did not exist. His house was doubtless fortified, as all houses were back then, but it could not withstand a mob attack by the entire town, even if he had superior firepower and was not outnumbered.

So what does he do? He offers his daughters to the mob. Why does he do this? Because even to the residents of Sodom, such an action would be shocking, and might, therefore, arouse the better feelings of some in the mob, thereby discouraging them from participating in the imminent sack of his home. Even if it did not arouse their better feelings by shocking their sensibilities, it provided an alternative for the mob to argue about—rape the strangers, or take the daughters?

Cadmus, in Greek mythology, employs a similar stratagem when armed men spring up from the dragon’s teeth he has sown; on Athena’s instructions, he throws the helmet that had contained the teeth and bonks one of the men on the head. They commence quarreling among themselves and kill each other off.

In Lot’s case, the idea was to set the mob arguing among itself, thus deflecting it from its original purpose. If they set upon each other, so much the better—but at any rate, they would dissipate their energies in argument and the moment of resolve when the mob would have the nerve to attack as one would pass, giving those inside the house a better chance at survival.

I tuned into an episode of one of those mid-afternoon talk shows a few years ago, where this parent was tearing themselves up over their 12-year-old being disrespectful and dressing up every day like a whore.

My first question (staring at the screen) was what the eff? Lady, the kid dosen’t have a job – if she’s got those clothes, YOU bought them for her! Also, frankly, I’m sick of the government telling us how to raise our kids. Their teachers are quick to tell them to report us to CPS if we so much as LOOK at them funny. We can’t spank, we can’t punish. And then they blame us as parents when things go wrong. I had a friend who was put in jail for three months because he hit his 15-year-old in the shoulder when he caught him stealing from his wallet. Great.

There was a parent on Dr. Phil one night whose teenager had gotten into several accidents texting while driving, and when Phil asked if she was taking the phone away from her, she said “yeah, MAYBE, for awhile.” MAYBE? For a WHILE? My son got a DUI at 17, no injuries, no property damage, and the first thing I did was sell his car.

I was sexually active at a very young age. And in that day there were not many of us, but I was a rebel as a kid. Heck I had my ear pierced at 12 and worn outrageous clothes. This was in 1969. But nowadays this is typical of undisciplined youth.

My son is 15 and he almost got his girlfriend pregnant. Of course I was disappointed in him, but he is at that age of raging hormones. And I talked to him about his future and how one bad decision could change his whole life. We, that is, her parents and I, are now keeping a close eye on their socializing and activities. Also, I’m proud that my son chooses good friends from solid families, and his attraction to this really beautiful girl shows his ability to pick nice people as friends. Her parents are a doctor and lawyer.

BTW, anyone seen the commercial where this kid and his friends mom are in the friends bedroom – they share something …candy ? Can’t remember but there the are salivating with this stuff in their mouth – the mother leaning towards the kid as we, the audience, her her and his carnal thoughts. As she is apparently about to ‘go for’ the 14 year old, the friend and dad happen to come home and surprise them/ bust them actually – the son opens the bedroom door to this room the mom/teen are in and the moms son yells “Mom !!” as dad/hubby stands there in shock and horror – its quite obvious that the 2 are hot and bothered. Can you imagine this 40 years ago ?? The pols. today will defend this as ‘freedom of speech’ and c’mon, it was funny, right ??
“You’re so uptight – these kind of commercials are common every day stuff in Europe !” Well,’we’ LEFT Europe !! If ‘we’ were so enamored with Europe we wouldn’t be here now would we ??
The Pols back then would be on a plane to D.C. before their offices even got the call from my dad, uncles, grandfather (and every dad etc. across the country). The show would probably be pulled off the air immediately !
But of course STD’s and teen pregnancy was rampant back in those days !!
Some years back I took my boys and a few of their friends to see a movie named ‘Jackass’.I wasn’t too thrilled with the title but my son assured me it was just about a few dopey guys that do dopey stuff. We weren’t in there 20 minutes when I announced ‘grab your jackets, we’re outta here”.
They were peeved but I didn’t care. As we walked back out of the theater I saw kids there half the age of my teen aged sons – I couldn’t believe it ! My kids pointed this out to me also and told me how I made ‘em look like dweebs in front of their friends. Then they brought up the point that I had just wasted $8.00 tickets the other kids with us moms put out and they probably weren’t gonna be happy. Yep, they were right but I didn’t give a damn – I claimed ‘in loco parentis’.
Before the emphasis on ‘gun control/violence’ one never ever thought to bring a gun to school. I went to a pretty rough school and was ganged up on more than once. My father was an avid hunter and a cop. We had guns in every room of the house. I never touched them without permission and as pissed off as I was after a few of these beatings I can honestly say the though of grabbing one of those pistols/rifles/shot guns ever crossed my mind.
Before the emphasis on ‘sex/sex eduction’, at least in my school, it was very, very rare you’d hear about a pregnant teen girl. When we went on dates we might try to get to 1st/2nd base but you knew you were taking a big chance of being humiliated, let alone the reaction of the girl should she not be ‘game’. Most times they were not ! To my mind the correlation is indisputable.

Any of the ‘over 50′ crowd here ? Can I get a witness ?? I have one ex high school sweet heart that still e-mails me almost daily. She said shes comfortable with me ’cause any of the guys she went on to have casual sex with,as she experienced the later changes of the 60′s with, she is not comfortable chatting with. She said it just ‘hangs there’ between them and she feels embarrassed and somewhat ashamed.Told me I was her knight in shining amour to this day and always a gentleman. Shes also a late comer to Conservatism and has told me several times “what was I thinking ?”. I’ve told her not to be so hard on herself, she was just a kid with ADULTS all around her telling her it was ‘liberating’.And thats the thing thats REALLY pisses me off – the Libs hate money, free enterprise/capitalism, but if they have to corrupt minors to make their fortunes, so be it !! Bastards. I’ve wrestled with my conscience too as I went full tilt boogie with the sex thing too as the 60′s neared and end and on into the 90′s, I had my fun…regrets now as I think back on all the really great ladies that I used and abused just to ‘get mine’ and really didn’t care to get to know them – who they were. It ain’t ‘Catholic Guilt’ either. Its called a conscience…which I allowed my self to bury with all the other trappings of the late 60′s/70′s etc. because , hey, thats what really counted in life !! NOT.
    Boy, I do go on….

Yes. You didn’t read what I wrote, did you?

I wrote that the threatened gang-rape by the residents of Sodom, like the gang-rapes which occur in prisons today, was a matter of asserting power and dominance. “Homosexuality” does not exist as a separate phenomenon in the Torah; it prohibits acts, and does not address “feelings” or “conditions.”

The concept of “homosexuality” as existing somehow separately from “heterosexuality”, rather than recognizing that both are part of a continuum of human desires, is a modern product, going back no more than 150 years or so. Yes, homosexual activity has existed since the dawn of time—but assigning it a separate status is part of the same pseudoscientific impulse that brought us phrenology and eugenics.

I can personally attest to that. I left home when I was 13 and hit the road, got busted and was eventually returned home after spending time in juvenile hall. I don’t think you read my post, because I in no way dispute that the residents of Sodom wanted to gang-rape Lot’s guests.

I merely pointed out that the threatened gang-rape was not a matter of “sexuality” because the Torah does not recognize “homosexuality” as a separate thing, and that the intent of the gang-rape, like those gang-rapes that occur today in prisons, had to do with humiliation and dominance.

The Talmud goes into the story of Sodom at length, and while the sages there claim that the residents were into “all kinds of wickedness,” they at no point dwell on sexual behavior, but rather on greed, inhospitability, and hostility to strangers.

    @ davehm:

Yes. You clearly don’t understand this either.

“Abomination” (“toevah”) is a technical term which applies to improper forms of worship—and, in fact, the first of the Levitical prohibitions occurs in the parsha Acharei Mos (“after the death of [Aaron's sons Nadab and Abihu, who were killed by bringing "strange fire" before the Tabernacle]), and immediately follows, and is followed by, proscriptions against idolatrous worship.

You may not be aware that homosexual orgies were part of the worship among some of the ancient world idolatrous cults, but the prohibition in Deuteronomy 23:18 against Israelites working as male or female sacred prostitutes confirms that the Levitical prohibitions were also aimed—at least originally—at ensuring that there was no participation in the rites of the other idolatrous religions. It is likely that the Sages extended this prohibition to a more general application when Greek culture, with its pervasive pederastic practices, came to dominate the eastern Mediterranean after the conquests of Alexander.

One thing I have noticed today is that young girls can’t “play the field” anymore. It is assumed (mostly correctly) that dating and having sex automatically go together, so if you date a lot of guys, you must be a slut.

When I was in high school —in a different culture entirely—parents preferred that their daughters see more than one guy, get to know more people, “shop around.” They were wary of their daughters “going steady” because that was what could lead to sex. It was taken for granted that a girl would never in a million years have sex with a guy unless it was an exclusive relationship and they were “in love.”

The result was that you had a barrel of fun dating casually and going to dances without all of the anxieties of today.

Girls today take dating soooo seriously. And no wonder, since if you go out a couple of times you’re expected to sleep with the guy.

That is: All the BS about ‘its your responsibility as a parent, to control what your kids watch or listen to’ is TOTAL, FLAT OUT, UTTER BS !! No matter what you limit in your home, they still have to go to school, visit friends houses etc. They’re going to hear about it on ‘the playground’ or see it at the friend house whose parents you’ve met and assume have the same values as you…until your kid comes home and tells you all about ‘the experience’. You may actually make your kid more a victim as its human nature (or kids nature) to want to find out what all the other kids are talking about that your kids never heard of ‘at home’. I’ve seen these type of kids be the ‘victim’ and suffer harder then the kids with the f’ed up home life. They’re little degenerates right out of the high chair ! I feel for ya.
    Seriously.

I should give it a rest for awhile and sit back and read others posts BUT, this thread is giving me the oppurtunity to get all over one of the most shameful parts of todays ‘culture’. I’ve never personally felt I should post my thoughts ..but since its started…. I have another ‘theory’
that I Think I’m DEAD ON about (IMHO).
    Long and short of it:
In the 50′s Playboy Magazine was introduced and the birth of the sexaul revolution was announced. Until this time, any man that wanted to look at pix of neked women had to do a little bit of searching. Most men were too busy with career/home/family and too tired at the end of the day to even be bothered. Now he could pick up the monthly center fold down at eh local news stand along with the morning paper.Hugh Hefner had only to come up with a woman month who was willing to take her clothes off in front of the camera.
Soon a man named Bob Guicione (sp ?) had the idea that ‘one’ wasn’t enough and that there was room for another monthly magazine with great articles !
    2 women per month now…
Guicione really poured it on along with Hefner and before you know it, ‘BOOBs’ and ‘Jugs’ and…. were all behind Time/Life magazines wrapped in brown paper just waiting for Mr. Joe 6 pack… the need to find woman that would not only do ‘nudes’ but to do graphic posing rose exponentially…if a man wanted that extra kink though he’d have to travel down to Time Square/district in every city USA. Most men were to tied up with career/home/family and too tired at the end of the day to bother with a trip like that…maybe he’d get lucky at a friends ‘stag/bachelor party’.
Now there were a lot of men paid to be actively on the hunt for women with the talents of a ‘Linda Lovelace’ (who could now be seen in the same hometown theatre/drive in movies that fathers once took the kids to see ‘The Sound of Music’ or ‘The son of Flubber’). Oh, wives were encouraged to ‘loosen up’ and get creative, maybe accompany hubby to see ‘Deep Throat” down town. Loosen up ladies…you’re liberated now, this ain’t he 50s’ anymore and you know you want it just as bad as hubby…yes !! Yes you do !! No ?? “Well maybe you need family counseling or something to find out why you’re so ‘represed !”
Skip to the 90′s. On line porn…
Billion dollar industry, available in every home around the world. Men get bored looking at the same old, same old so the demand is now for more and more ‘fresh faces’ to fo more and more depraved acts in front of a video camera – which, incidentally, may be preserved indefinably on the net !! A little screw up back when you were 17 girl friend ?? Guess what – you can be seen 24/7 by anyone with a PC and a hook up. More and more girlz are going to be neeeded…thousands upon thousands are going to be needed to keep the gavy train going. Those bastards aren’t going to let those BILLIONS just slip through their hands when all they have to do is show your young, confused daughter some ‘Girls Gone Wild’ and give ‘em the old “See EVERYONE’S doing it – have some fun – and get paid for it too.I’ll get the toys and lubricants, make yourself at home, cracks on the table, wines in the fridge”.
Unless, WE AS MEN ACT LIKE MEN, REAL MEN WHO PROTECT OUR YOUNGINS and stop thinkin’ of our own pleasure just because shes someone else’s daughter and you have a severe case of ‘arrested development’!!
I don’t give a flyin’ sh*t that the POTUS violated a 19 year old girl with a cigar in the Oval Office and her father said hes ‘OK with that’ !
POS isn’t a man and either was that POS POTUS !!
Sorry again for the rant but I feel it needs to be said and I want to have a hand in doing something about it – just don’t even know where to start – until just now. Thank you Admins for the opportunity.

*I don’t mean to imply anyone here is …ya know. I have to go recline and chill somewhere for a few minutes…

Nothing yet… While I like him a great deal, I plan on voting against him in 2010 because as I said earlier I very much agree with TFK (Tax Free Killer), we need to send congress a message that they cannot possible fail to understand. The only possible way to do that is vote every one out of office.

You can choose to disbelieve 3300 years of Jewish scholarship on this matter all you like, but don’t pretend that you’re just being curious or doubtful.

Using the Jewish Bible as a weapon against Jews is a common pastime for some. Deliberately misunderstanding (or pretending to misunderstand) the Jewish explanations about the Bible so that Jews have to explain it 100 times while some still feign ignorance and doubt is one of those things that Jews have to put up with online (not to mention in other places).

The Jewish position is backed by thousands of years of Jewish scholarship.

If you doubt it, then find some other religion to use for your games.

At least they’ve found a rather benign outlet for their ‘issues’ (generally speaking). A pinch of ‘Arrow Root’ in your apple cider at midnight on ‘Halloween’ probably won’t prove fatal to you or have any adverse effect(s) (unless mixed with ‘Wolfs Bane’ and I probably shouldn’t let that out here but you all are my buds and all so …).
Lord, I pray we don’t have any blog members who are member(s) of the council of the ‘wise’. If they suspect you don’t take them serious,a visit from one or more, on-line or in person, will make being cornered by those with finger cymbals a chiming down at the local regional airport seem like casual summer afternoon relaxation.

This was all in jest and the strike trough continuing through all these words is only because I didn’t close the HTML tag by oversight – not ‘suicidal thoughts because I’m pathetic and lonely. Hey, never know. I’ve got concerned over things posted by people I never had an exchange with.

    @ mawskrat:

Don’t know your age, but if you’re serious, deal with it somehow so you can put it all into perspective. Thats why its called ‘youth’ not ‘adult’. If you grew up in the late 50′s and went trough the 60′s and all, you had many ‘adults’ that knew damn well what they were doing to the youth in this country and around much of the world. Not to make excuses for every deed, don’t know what they were but you were overwhelmed by experts in manipulating the media, infiltrating the public school system – it even affected the young in uniform too. I purchased my 1st true ‘suit’ around 1971 because it seemed like every time I turned around,I was being asked to do ‘pal bearer’ honors for yet another buddy (gals too). They weren’t killed on the battle fields of ‘Nam. No, practically right in their own back yards. Stupidity ? How can so many be ‘stupid’ ? I’m talkin’ several dozen over the years. Like the old teaching adage – ‘If every student failed the test, the test is fouled, not the student’. To me, that sums up the great ‘let it all hang out’/ ‘do what you like, do it ’til you’re satisfied’/ ‘die young, leave a good looking copse’ experiment/attitude of those days.Once I was very
angry about it all. I got some help workin’ it all out and now I’m just pissed. Don’t know if you saw what I wrote about my uncle who did 2 tours in the Marine Corps in the S.Pacific. He live through all that, returned home and began working on a family. He and my aunt raised 4 good sons. 2 were killed in separate car accidents, hit by drunk/high kids.
We had one student from our high school killed in the jungles of ‘Nam (Tet) the entire war !! The thing I learned from some very good people is ‘you can do nothing about the past. You can contemplate and face your ‘sins’,ask for forgiveness and once done, put it behind you. But never, ever repeat the ‘sin’ as it demeans the whole process (don’t know how to put it as I don’t know if you are ‘religious’ or what). I’m not giving you my ‘pearls of wisdom’ here. I’m just re-stating the best I can in as short a space as possible, the years of counseling I benefited greatly from – Doctors, not down at the local watering hole. You will get on in your later years a lot easier if you deal with it now – that I can tell you. Good luck.
ps – a little last second advice if I might – should you decide to see a professional and he/she tries to sell you on some convoluted, hard to understand, lengthy program that ‘may take years to resolve’ I’d ‘say thank you for your time’ and try elsewhere.Unless you have some serious issues – like criminal behavior which is based in pathology of some type then ….ignore everything I just said ! Impossible to give good advice in a blog. There is at least one Doctor member here too – not trying to drag you in Doctor, just saying I’m certainly not the most qualified here – most likely not in the top 10 although I did work for decades in the mental health field – still, like playing ‘one on TV’ in comparison.
Maybe someone can advise you after your 1st appoint. If it sounds like your getting a ‘line’..or not. Been there, done that, wasted some serious $.It wound up being the shortest Tx session wise and also the most affordable that was at long last, the final ‘magic touch’. Listen to me ! I have you in therapy already LOL !! ‘Dr Phil’ anyone ?? STAY FAR AWAY FROM THOSE SELF HELP BOOKS from him and many others IMHO. People will come outta the wood work with their favorite ‘BOOK O’ THE MONTH CLUB’ testimonials. Now going against my own advice, the only book I found valuable for follow up (post therapy) was Dr Wayne Dyers ‘Your Erroneous Zones’. That book came out decades ago but that little book has some of the best advice (really common sense) I’ve ever read. I would imagine there are others – I really didn’t look too much as once I ‘got it all down’, there really was no reason to look further.
Now mawskrat,If your thinking: “Yeah ? But 4_Sticks, you sound like a freakin’ loony tune yourself, why should I listen to anything you have to say ?’
Good question but I can answer that – just remember, “its the message not the messenger’. Hey, I actually heard Charlie Manson say something once that rang ‘true’.
NOT. Just a funnin’ with ya !
And if I typed all of this – worked on this for over (approx.) 1 1/2 hours and turns out you just ‘forgot’ the ‘sarc’ tag, well, I’m gonna go off the rails again !! LOL !
