SENATOR LINDSEY GRAHAM, (R-S.C): Can you give me a case in United States history where a enemy combatant caught on a battlefield was tried in civilian court?
ERIC HOLDER, ATTORNEY GENERAL: I don’t know. I’d have to look at that. I think that, you know, the determination I’ve made --
GRAHAM: We’re making history here, Mr. Attorney General. I’ll answer it for you. The answer is no.

We're not easily offended and don't want people to think they have to walk on eggshells around here (like at another place that shall remain nameless) but of course, there is a limit to everything.
Caught an excerpt of that on my local radio while driving home from school… Holder sounded like an incompetent douche. Glad someone finally grew a set to start challenging all these idiots.
(sorry… my first name is Graham, so you can imagine how I feel when I read stories about this guy. It seems popular to refer to him by his surname.)
Anyway, thread derail time! Reposting from down thread because this is important:
Another breaking news that’ll scare the bejeesus out of the global warming mongers if it’s true. The Hadley Climate Research Unit, which is part of/attached to the Met Office here in the UK, has been hacked and thousands of e-mails and files have been released, wherein top climate scientists casually discuss faking data, obfuscating results and ponder destroying their real data in order to prevent skeptics getting hold of it.
IF it’s true it’s a bombshell. The sheer amount of data makes it hard to think it’s anything but true but it will have to be confirmed. Hadley have already circulated an e-mail warning about the hack so it seems likely it will be proven true. This just might be the end of the AGW hoax.
I smell mistrial approaching…………

I was watching this yesterday on Cspan. Talk about chutzpah. Holder told Grassly when asked to produce a list of Justice Dept lawyers who had worked for detainees rights, “I’ll think about it”.
Some Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee were taken aback Wednesday by Attorney General Eric Holder’s refusal to reveal conflicts of interest involving Justice Department lawyers who, before joining the Obama administration, worked on behalf of Guatanamo detainees.
I’ve decided to go into suspended animation for the next 3 years…
If something seriously violent happens a bad accident happens to b-Ho, please wake me….
The sick thing about this asshole’s answer to that question is, he said that he spent six months mulling over all the ups and downs of his decision, don’t you think prior case law, or precedent would have found its way into all of that mulling? This just means he did not spend a minute thinking about it, their mind was made up six months ago, as proven by N.Y. Governor Patterson stating that they told him six months ago to expect this.
Holder is like the dog that runs after cars while barking. Well now that he has finally caught the car he doesn’t know what the hell to do. Kind of like his boss Oblahblah.
Isn’t it? I was a young adult during the Watergate scandal, what a huge deal that was for all the world to see. Man does that seem like nothing compared to these criminals.

Neither last that long.
True, but a lot of the Rs got their panties in a twist over Nixon too.The biggest complaint Ds have about Hussein is that he isn’t moving further leftward.
Overbroad. It’s quite sufficient to observe that he’s a disgrace to the office he holds, and has no right to lecture his fellow Americans—many of whom are not disgraces to their positions—about their “cowardice,” or anything else.
FOXNews.com The Rev. Jesse Jackson said Wednesday night that any black lawmaker who votes against President Obama’s sweeping health care overhaul isn’t really black, the Hill newspaper reported.
In light of the hubub that was made during the election regarding Obowma’s relations to domestic terrorists is the following regarding Obowma’s pick for AG:
As Deputy Attorney General, Holder, as The Washington Post explained, “was the gatekeeper for presidential pardons.” Indeed, Holder was a key figure entrusted with the task of vetting the Clinton administration’s 176 last-minute pardons in January 2001. The beneficiaries of those pardons included such notables as former Weather Underground members Susan Rosenberg (who was involved in the deadly 1981 armed robbery of a Brink’s armored car) and Linda Evans (who had used false identification to buy firearms, harbored a fugitive, and was in possession of 740 pounds of dynamite at the time of her arrest in 1985).
Holder and the Pardon of Marc Rich
Holder also played a role in the presidential pardon granted to the billionaire financier Marc Rich, a fugitive oil broker who had illegally purchased oil from Iran during the American trade embargo — and who then proceeded to hide more than $100 million in profits by using dummy transactions in off-shore corporations.
…
Holder was also intimately involved in President Clinton’s August 11, 1999 pardon of 16 members of the FALN, acronym for the Armed Forces of National Liberation—a violent terrorist organization (as designated by the FBI) that was active in the U.S. from the mid-1970s through the early 1980s.
The FALN was a Marxist-Leninist group whose overriding mission was to secure Puerto Rico’s political independence from the United States.
…
Holder has stated that he is personally opposed to the death penalty.
…
This might explain why he stopped the execution of KSM, and sent it to Civil Court in NY]
I suspect B. Hussein is doing this to suck up once again to the Muslims and is in essence another way to bow vicariously and with a double dip sets up further his insistence to change the way things have traditionally been, setting the stage for further socialization and deconstruction of our laws.
Note, by the way, that if Obama’s shooting his mouth off about KSM’s guilt is held to have irredeemably tainted the judicial process, KSM may well walk. Charles Manson almost walked because Nixon did something similar. If the civilian court process is ruled tainted by the President’s remarks, KSM will surely not be handed back to military jurisdiction, so could—conceivably—walk free, Ayers style.
This might seem like an incredible blunder. But in fact it would provide a chance for the show-trial indictment of Bush Administration practices before letting KSM loose—and Obama would be relieved of the need to confine him at Gitmo, or anywhere else.
This is part of the problem when you have folks who think too much like lawyers and not enough like warriors. There are some instances in life when thinking like a lawyer can actually inhibit and jeopardize one’s activities, and I think this whole situation is one of those cases. Try KSM et al., in a military tribunal and be done with it.
I’ve downloaded the zip, and scanned it for viruses (it didn’t find any). It seems authentic, for reasons that are too involved to get into, but there’s always the concern that it’s spiked. Proving that it wasn’t dinked with is going to be just about impossible.

any black white lawmaker who votes against for President Obama’s sweeping health care overhaul isn’t really black white

OK let’s see if it’s fixed.
I heard that Obama said that if KSM walks, he won’t be let back into the U.S.
Which would be great had he actually needed to be in the U.S. when he planned 9/11 A-Z. Seriously, has he ever actually been in the U.S. until we brought/bring him here for trial?
Obama & Co. can’t really be this stupid, it has to be on purpose.
Thanks chick. This is horrifying. I’d like to see a thread on the all important topic. We must not fall victim to the diversionary tactics Hussein Co. are using to take our eyes off the monstrous healthcare bill.
That is a fine point, and I’m fairly certain you are referring to this. Just last night B. Hussein, in his interview with Major Garret, said with certainty that KSM WILL BE CONVICTED. B. Hussein has to know what a statement like that means ala Nixon and Manson. He did that on purpose; I’m convinced of that.

If Dodd doesn’t opt for discovering lost ballots in car trunks we could have an R senator in CT. That has not happened for many a year.
Dodd is gone, too much to steal, like the NJ governors race.

I just tried to call Landrieu and got the main # of the senate. I guess the lines are overwhelmed.
But keep trying. A phone call that gets thru is one more resonating NO.
This is why they are in such a hurry to remake the USA in their commie image. The window of opportunity is limited and this makes them very dangerous imho.

It is on purpose. B. Hussein wants to change the way things are done here in America and with many of his policies attempts to set new precedence that will be built upon in the future. He is a fan of the dangerous slippery slope style of politics.

Yes , they are in a huge hurry & they don’t want us to notice. They announce anything major on the weekend to avoid the news cycle.
A big hurry to take over the economy. To reenforce our troops in afghanistan, not so much.

I say let his live next door to me and the many Military officers that live around here. Don’t worry he will not be seen again, a boat ride out 100+ miles off tha coast of New England would be nice right now.
@ WrathofG-d:
ksm attended school here and apparently speaks excellent English. Nice huh?
With the amount of Anti-Israel terrorists educated in the U.S. (or Israeli Universities) this is not surprising at all. Sick, depressing, and upsetting…but not surprising.
Obama is an attorney, and supposedly a very well educated one. This only further gives weight to the fact that it cannot be a mistake. (ignoring the amount of law his AG seems not to know).
As the friend of Terrorist Hasan said, “let Americans get pissed now about my encouragement of his act, they will all get distracted and forget all about this in a couple days.”
Probably not, a leftist would have to open a bible to find out what it says, the problem being that no true leftist would be caught dead with a bible in their hand. On that note, if some were to call the driver on the sticker verse all the driver would have to do is invoke the leftwing defense “Well, that’s your interpretation of it”.
Army officials had said they would prohibit coverage of Palin’s on-post event,
saying it would turn into political grandstanding against President Barack Obama
.
The Associated Press and The Fayetteville Observer objected and the military changed its position slightly on Thursday night. It will grant a pool of reporters restricted access to Monday’s appearance.
I didn’t know that, but it lends clarity to this wayward choice to give enemy combatants constitutional guarantee while they are not citizens. It affords terrorists, who unlike Ayers, to be given rights where there should be no right to constitutional protection, the same provisions under our laws.
They know exactly what they are doing. These trails will give legitimacy to the complaints of the Muslims as victims in relation to the Zionist agenda that America was and is complicit to. And the soapbox for this outlandish program will be provided by B. Hussein and Co. with a really nice bow on top.
If being called names, persecuted, and insulted for your religion were an excuse for what Islam is doing, Jews (with our history) would be murdering people everywhere.
I have, in the past, suggested that people read Ralph Ellison’s excellent novel “Invisible Man,” which deals with racial issues in midcentury America. It is a deeply layered work, one of the best novels of the last century—but, more, it contains an extended section in which “the Brotherhood” (the Communist Party) picks the unnamed narrator out of the crowd and offers him the chance to become a “community organizer,” with the promise that he will be “the next Booker T. Washington”—if he follows orders.
This novel was read by everybody in the early ’60s. It would certainly have been read by Bill Ayers, and by many of the other radicals of that generation, ten years and more senior to Obama, who have supported, and who surround, the President—including the Black Muslim who assisted Obama in getting into Harvard, the attorneys who first hired him, etc.
Zombie, during the campaign, did an excellent exploration of Obama’s years at Columbia, and his interests at the time—which, coincidentally, coincided with the last years of the Weather Underground’s activity and with Bill Ayers’ residence in New York City not far from where Obama lived. Despite extensive research, revealing many parallels and seeming near convergences, zombie was unable to establish that Ayers and Obama actually met or worked together at that time. Nonetheless, it is difficult if one reads zombie’s report and is familiar with Ellison’s work to wholly quash the suspicion that we are seeing life mirror art, on the national scale, to an astounding degree.
Agreed. Not only an indictment of Bush-Cheney, but a screed against Israel. The original intent of ksm along with the 9/11 atrocities was to hijack another plane, land it, then make his case against America and the Jews.
Louis Farrakhan: As you know, since 9/11, in America and in other parts of the world, those anti-Islamic forces have stepped up their efforts to make Muslims… to cause the Muslims to be looked at as uncivilized, savage, or wicked people. This is an attempt by anti-Islamic forces
Interesting, but no one was anti islamic or even thought much about islam, until they started up with all the jihads
Of course. If only AlGore hadn’t been cheated out of his rightful place in the White House, then the eeevil Bushitler wouldn’t have been able to implement his nefarious plot, along with the Juice, to frame innocent, peace-loving Muslims around the world. There were NO Muslim terrorists prior to 9/12. Bushitler’s war on Islam created them because Mohammed was being attacked for no reason. We know that there were tens of millions of people nationwide insulting Allah and Mohammed. Mosques were torched by the thousands. Korans were used for toilet paper in schools, military installations, churches & temples. Innocent Muslims were beaten, even slaughtered around the world by Bushitlers evil minions.
Now, now, Wrath. That is an outdated screed written by a dead, white, Euro-centric, phallocratic slaveholder. Worse yet, from the text itself you can see he was……gasp!….a creationist!!!!
@ m:
If being called names, persecuted, and insulted for your religion were an excuse for what Islam is doing, Jews (with our history) would be murdering people everywhere.
Yep. But I don’t see any of that holding islamists back. Bush went out of his way to make nicey with muslims.
If President Bush had made a comment that a defendant would be convicted and put to death regardless of the trial, countless American lives would have been lost…………..trampled to death by the stampede of ACLU lawyers rushing to the microphones and TV cameras to denounce him. I guess we should be grateful that it was a Democrat that said that.
Hey, that would make a good new statistic for this administration. The number of American lives saved or not killed…..
This whole claim of being islamophobic for pointing out the threat, and violence of Islam is ridiculous. Ignoring a real threat is not moral, its suicide. Any American with 1/2 a brain would/should be “islamophobic”. Calling Americans “Islamophobic” after 9/11 is like calling the Founding Fathers Anglophobic!
If the ignorant masses don’t like it, they can go back to the Queen!
Its too bad Bush wasn’t the president now trying to pull all of this shit. The left would be rioting in the streets and calling it for what it is, but prefer somehow not to notice these days.

Right, and as some not-so-intellectuals like to claim: “unpatriotic”
I am convinced that the Ayers connection is why he ended up in Chicago in the first place. Why Chicago? In his autobiography he never explains that choice. Why not stay in New York? Why not go back to the Pacific coast?

why not chicago, its the perfect place to train under the thugocracy and have many very safe democrat seats ready for the prodigy, after he is well trained.
The connections to Ayers and many other meretricious B. Hussein associations are, so far, unlinked, with the exception of Frank Marshall Davis and the un-Rev. Wright. But it is a known fact B. Hussein launched his IL senatorial campaign in the house of Ayers.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that allsome men are created equal evolved more then others , that they are endowed by their Creatorevolution / Dick Dawkins with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Health insurance, Cap and Trade, Carbon credits and giving Zero lotsa Lunch money. That to secure these rights, Governments Obama was instituted over Men, deriving their his just powers from the consent of a few stupid dhimmicraps.
All I can say is, read the novel, and zombie’s report at zombietime (in no particular order). The similarities between the “Brotherhood” chapters—before the narrator wakes up—and a certain picaresque hero’s progress to the White House are striking.

our local (now on xm, too) morning conservative went through that whole story a while back. it was fascinating.
O’Rieley interviewing Sarah Palin right now.
As usual he is making it about him, “This is how I would have done it”
He is contrasting his self absorbed image of himself at her expense.
Part 2 coming up after the break.
He lived in the same neighborhood as Ayers when he was in NY. In his autobiography he says he hung out with the radicals in his neighborhood and even attended the seminars at the Marxist center down the street. Then right after graduation he went to Chicago.
Someone w/ connections in Chicago must have lured him there. Ayers is as good a bet as any. Just my theory.
The left are using very dangerous tools to build a new socialist leaning American paradigm. I guess we can adopt a wait and see what becomes of this attitude, but the boding and wait smells with a stench that would not be welcome in the nostrils of our founders.
As long as we’re talking about bringing KSM to New York for trial, how ’bout we talk about bringing Obama to Washington to do his fucking job. Cavorting around the world in permanent campaign mode is not doing your job Mr President. You may have gotten by at Harvard by slacking off but that doesn’t cut it in your current position. Or is actually doing your job above your pay grade?
Assface.
I never did find the article from a few weeks after inauguration when Michelle was quoted about how happy they were to finally get out of the WH… they don’t like living there, they don’t feel at home in it and will find all sorts of reasons to leave the property.
Maybe less then a month, they couldn’t stand their new digs.
On his front page today, Rush Limbaugh has a prominent link to “Prison Planet,” the website of whacked out conspiracy freakazoid Alex Jones, titled: Algore Photoshops Fake Earth.
And possibly even more ridiculous, Limbaugh says his “official climatologist” is Dr. Roy Spencer — a notorious climate change denier and creationist, who believes “intelligent design” creationism should be taught in schools as if it were science. Dr. Spencer is one of the best examples of the anti-science convergence of climate deniers and creationists.
First of all, Dr. Spencer isn’t a “denier”, even if you accept that kind of language as legitimate. Secondly, your hero, James Hansen is also a creationist. Thirdly, no rational person cares if someone is a creationist.

Classy act.
They won’t say it—and the media would never intimate it—but I would bet money that they are not only intimidated but shamed (quietly and secretly) by the White House. Not only because they know in their heart of hearts that they are mountebanks with no business there, and that they don’t measure up to some of the greats who occupied the same house, but because they also know that their job is to tear down everything that edifice stands for.
And that is why they leave whenever possible. It is not the house that is whispering to them, “Geeeeeeeeeet ouuuuuuuuuuuut!”; it is their own vestigial consciences.

I don’t give their consciences that much credit buzz. I think these are cold, souless people that have no respect for the institution but only disdain. I think they laugh to themselves about how they ‘got over’ and beat the man.
It is we who should be ashamed of who we’ve chosen to occupy that House of the People. I know I am.
In short, I think they suck. The Big Wazoo.
That’s an interesting thought.
Sometimes, no matter how good you are at conning other people, no matter how pleased you are that you won, you can’t quite fool yourself.
It is ironic that the site that “Fact Checks Your Ass” is currently talking about and supporting the global warming hoax, just as the rest of the blogsphere is reeling with the release of a certain zip file.

LG, unfortunately I lived in an apartment with quite a few cold blooded narcissists. I think rather than feel actual guilt or shame when they are up to no good, the subconscious knows whats going on, but the ego twists it around into smug denials and blaming others.
I’m taking your recommendation for Emerson’s book, but I’ll have you know its order supersedes the Kipling plug.
Ellison, not Emerson. Ralph Ellison. He was one of the earliest black conservative writers of the modern era. He wrote little after “Invisible Man,” mostly short pieces—and had a tragic fire late in life which destroyed the longer work he had been laboring over. However, his place in the literary pantheon is, in my opinion, ensured by “Invisible Man.”

#178 – doing ok. Actually, I’m WIPED OUT from work. The last several weeks have been really hectic and this week is really hideous what with the short (holiday) week next week. I feel like somebody has whacked me with a 2 x 4… how’ve you been? When are you celebrating the birthday? Today, tomorrow, and the whole weekend? Where’ve you been?
There is a devious complexity behind this Manchurian candidate that has yet to be revealed.
Let’s think about it. He became a community organizer in Chicago after a purported successful education in law. He was thrust on the national stage after invited to the 2004 DNC election shindig as keynote speaker and then elected as an IL senator to Congress and from there became POTUS in a time span that would make King George jealous.
Now we may consider this an atypical career that is motion picture script like in essence, but there is more here than meets the eye that just fortune for a lucky one.

I pray the damage they are attempting fails and backfires on all of those bastards. Something has to give. There is just no way this gov takeover can really happen. Really is like a nightmare and each morning you wake up to find out its not a dream.
It’ll be the weekend before I can celebrate. But tonight my kids cooked dinner and the hubby cleaned up the mess! This is cause for a celebration all on it’s own! lol!

Soros has a lot to do with it. There’s a few articles out there about how he groomed zero to become senator. Zero is pulling of Soros dream of dreams. Just wonder who else is involved in Soros brood.
It’s nuttier than that. A couple days after AlGore says that the earth’s core is millions of degrees, they’re flipping out because Rush has the temerity to point out that AlGore’s photoshopped pictures are photoshopped.
And when one of them calls AlGore an idiot, he gets downdinged. Well, shiite. If the earth’s core is millions of degrees, no wonder it’s getting kind hot…
Good of Sen. Graham to ask a pointed question. Might have been nice to question Holder a little more like that when his confirmation was the issue.
Perhaps he’d like to explain his vote to confirm Holder in light of his apparent incompetence to be an attorney much less AG.
Great point. The inconsistency is what drives me nuts. Just a couple weeks ago I saw the same Graham on Fox arguing in support of the Fairness Doctrine. That made me lose it. I think I scared my neighbors by screaming at my TV. I know I traumatized my dogs. It was nice to see Holder being grilled but the lack of discipline on the Republican side just drives me nuts.
With respect to those who differ, and believe that the Obamas are laughing at us while in the White House, I disagree.
Laugh they may—but they would not be fleeing it at every opportunity if they felt comfortable there. You may recall that almost as soon as they’d dropped their bags in the front hall, they mobilized a motorcade to go out for pizza or something, because they “couldn’t stand being cooped up there.”
Yes, they may laugh—but it is the uneasy laugh of the ruler who deeply fears the tread of the jacquerie, and who is haunted in the night, despite his best efforts, by the ghosts that in the daylight he brazenly pretends do not trouble his sleep. To quote another great work of the last century, Robert Penn Warren’s “All the King’s Men,” they cannot stand the house’s eyes upon them.

I have deep respect for your viewpoints and your eloquence buzz and I’m willing to consider what you say.
But I still think they suck.

great, just what we need, a 12 step program led by rodan and savage!
If KSM doesn’t end up dead one way or another, then this could be the end of 0bama, as far as politics go. At least I hope it would be.
KSM was going to plead guilty and insisted upon the death penalty if he was going in front a military court. That sounds like a fair deal to me, so why would H0lder choose a civilian trial all of a sudden?
Why grant terrorists and enemy combatants more rights than they are entitled to and why move the trail to a civilian court, where it will turn into a sham and a circus, not to mention the uncertainty as to the final outcome? And even if the scumbag terrorist is found guilty, will he actually be executed?
None of the other terrorists connected to Al-Qaeda have been given death when convicted in civilian courts in this country. Will KSM and 0sama Bin Laden end up in prison for life playing checkers with each other and reading the koran after they’ve been tried in civilian court?
This sets a very bad precedent for how future terrorists can expected to be treated also. The 0bama administration has got to be the worst administration since the founding of this country. Current day Somalia is practically run better than the current US.
I’ve been expressing fear that Holder will actually find a guilty verdict by perverting our legal system and thereby setting a disgusting precedent by the most powerful prosecutor in the land.
Rather than respecting our legal system, these buffoons feel that it’s theirs to molest because they won an election.
If KSM doesn’t end up dead one way or another, then this could be the end of 0bama, as far as politics go. At least I hope it would be.

Just too Depressing!
Cannot believe Eric Holder’s performance before the Judiciary Committee. Well, come to think about it, yes, I can. (Somehow that last phrase is unpleasantly familiar.) Affirmative action in all its glory. And that goes triple for his even-more incompetent boss.
This sets a very bad precedent for how future terrorists can expected to be treated also. The 0bama administration has got to be the worst administration since the founding of this country. Current day Somalia is practically run better than the current US.
I think that the left has a tremendous anger towards the right. Far greater an anger than they show to our real enemies. And this anger makes them dangerous because it causes them to do things that in effect ‘cut off their nose to spite their face’. The only possible logic there can be to this otherwise sand poundingly stupid gesture is to unleash the ACLU and it’s far left lawysres on the preceding administration and put it on trial. And damn the consequences to the country.
The left is truly dangerous and is a domestic enemy. One that I swore an oath to defend the Constitution against. I’m a lot older now than when I took that oath but I am fighting mad.
terrorism should be an act of war and the terrorists treated as such.
terrorism is not a law issue, it is an act of war. if a state bombed NYC, we would go to war with that state…we can substitute individuals for state, its real easy.

I was watching this yesterday on Cspan. Talk about chutzpah. Holder told Grassly when asked to produce a list of Justice Dept lawyers who had worked for detainees rights, “I’ll think about it”.

FOXNews.com
The Rev.

(all) “Hi Kansas!”
