Hot tuna! Guess he wants to be re-elected next year after all.

So how did he vote on health care?

On further reflection, this is interesting. I wonder if it’s just the beginning of a trend -- Blue Dog Democrats switching to the GOP, one by one. Pelousy has already stated that she can live with losing 40 seats in the House…..and it was intimated that she was ready to sacrifice the Blue Dogs.

Now, if we can only start getting some Red-State Democrat Senators to switch…

Oh, and look for the MSM to talk about what a betrayal of the voters who elected him that this party switch is….

    From Fox News:

Griffith’s party switch is the first one in recent memory where any member of either party in the House or Senate has moved from the majority to the minority party. Earlier this year, Sen. Arlen Specter moved from the Republican Party to the majority Democratic Party.

His thinking may not be a total surprise, however. In August, Griffith told voters at a town hall meeting at the University of North Alabama that if given the chance he would not vote again for Nancy Pelosi as House speaker.

“I would not vote for her. Someone that divisive and that polarizing cannot bring us together,” he said.

Alabama’s two U.S. senators, as well as Rep. Robert Aderholt, whose district borders Griffith’s, were instrumental in helping Griffith change his mind. Senior Sen. Richard Shelby is himself a former Democrat who switched parties while in office.

Rep. Mike Rogers, another Alabama Republican, called the switch “a great development,” and likened it to the party switch by Louisiana Rep. Rodney Alexander, who moved from the Democrats to the GOP about six years ago.

“He just could not stomach what the Democrats are doing any longer,” Rogers said of Griffith’s move.

Griffith’s departure means the Democrats will still hold an advantage of 257 seats to the GOP’s 178. But the Democratic majority is expected to shrink by at least two seats again in January. Reps. Robert Wexler, D-Fla., and Neil Abercrombie, D-Hawaii, are expected to resign.

Precisely my question! Is it just a trick to get them re-elected next Fall? I don’t want them if they are just going to be the new version of our current rinos! These so-called blue dogs all voted with Queen Pelousy! I don’t want them on our team!

Considering the pressure that the Blue Dog Democrats have been under from Pelosi all year, I’ve been wondering for months why they don’t just switch over to the GOP since they ran as conservatives when they were elected.

I hope this is the first of many who switch over to the GOP!

    @ vapig:

Judging from the statements, he’s sickened by Pelousy. This is his first term, and I think he’s a Democrat in the fashion of Zell Miller. This type of gamesmanship makes him sick.

I hope the GOP gives his a warm welcome, a hearty handshake and a laurel wreath — it might encourage more to join the party.

    @ Eliana:

I’ve been smacking the keyboard from here to Free Republic to GCP and back asking them to do just that! Switch! Especially since the plan next year is to take a leaf from the Dumbocrat playbook and run against Obama, Reid and Pelousy, all of whom should have completely abysmal ratings by the time the primaries roll around.

I’d love to see every single Blue Dog switch. And I hope their constituents support them enthusiastically each time one of them do.

Meanwhile, Dem Alan Grayson wants the DOJ to jail a person for criticizing him on a website.

But Grayson is not amused, and he is asking U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder to conduct an investigation into the Web site and Langley, according to a report in the Orlando Sentinel.

In a four-page letter sent to Holder, Grayson accuses Langley of lying to federal elections and requests that she be fined and imprisoned for five years.

    The Lie? The Big Sin?

Party switching is a very strange political move. I am surprised that such a decision does not automatically suspend the vote of the switching representative and prompt a swift local election. People vote for parties. Party discipline should be strong. There should be “litmus” tests for party membership. This would encourage the formation of new parties, or strengthen the 2 party system.

Doctor admits Israeli pathologists harvested organs without consent
    Excerpt:

Israel has admitted pathologists harvested organs from dead Palestinians, and others, without the consent of their families – a practice it said ended in the 1990s – it emerged at the weekend.

The admission, by the former head of the country’s forensic institute, followed a furious row prompted by a Swedish newspaper reporting that Israel was killing Palestinians in order to use their organs – a charge that Israel denied and called “antisemitic”.

The revelation, in a television documentary, is likely to generate anger in the Arab and Muslim world and reinforce sinister stereotypes of Israel and its attitude to Palestinians.

    @ Iron Fist:
Oh man, I had to pick my jaw up off the floor when I thought Feinstein said that.

Not denial, just good old fashioned grade a hipocrisy.

And as I’ve said before, I’ll believe Hollywood is sincere about AGW and/or Climate Change the day they carpool to the Oscars.

Feinstein’s quip reminds us of the conflicts inherent in what they call liberalism. They always have a snarky put-down for their political opponents, because they are so certain their way is the right way, that the only people to disagree would have to be either stupid or evil. But more than half the time, serving one of their interests is at polar opposite to serving another. (Eg: labor unions and environmentalists) So how can both sides be evil when they, the Dems, ARE both sides?

In this case, it is even more focused than that. On one side, the environmentalists who believe the answer is solar and wind power. Versus. The environmentalists that do not want to build anything anywhere at anytime. She snarks at the “opposite” side but it is just her own people.

It also points out another inherent flaw in leftism. They are all about complaining about how others handle things and insisting they should be given control, but when they are in charge, they have no idea how to solve anything.
“We should build solar farms, you oil-addicted warmongering neanderthals!!!!”
    “Okay, build them.”
    “Uhhhhhhhh…building is bad.”

There’s some extremely nasty stuff being posted about me today on the wingnut blogs, after my Tim Pawlenty post.

The mind of a full grown “man”

Had I said that to friends back at the corner hangout, they would have been rolling on the sidewalk with laughter.

What a wimp ass bicycle rider.

    @ Silhouette:
(Keep in mind the words quoted aren’t the Senator’s)
Another example is the Kennedy’s refusal to build wind turbines near their beach house.

Conservatives should start saying “We need to drill for oil and mind coal because liberals won’t let us build solar and wind near them.”

Oh, and Chaz, would that be nasty as in calling RS McCain, Michelle Malkin, et al. racists and facists, or Pam Geller an Alcoholic Loon -- that kind of nasty, Chaz?

You reep what you sow, jazzman. How does it feel to be the laughingstock of cyberspace? And keep giving us material. You’re a bottomless pit when it comes to bullshit.

    @ bellamags:

You know, that comment speaks volumes.

I can’t see where anywhere else, the issue of skin color was even brought, yet some how this is the most important aspect to the story alone.

It really illustrates where they are over there, and quite frankly they do judge by the color of one’s skin, and not the content of their character.
