Back before they became Government Motors and were producing cars people wanted to buy.

Of course, even back then, they were kowtowing to the unions, sowing the seeds of their own destruction, and failing to build reliability into their products.

  6. 6 | December 28, 2009 18:38

    What is that?

I don’t give a shit if that car costs 100 thousand bucks, I gotta have it!

If GM puts that baby out on the production line with all the modern goodies and safety stuff required these days, GM would be out of bankruptcy in 40 days.

I see a 57 Chevrolet Belair nose and hood. A 1959 Chevrolet Impala Trunk and tail light array. Short body frame would lead me to believe that it is on a Corvette chasis. What does the instrument cluster look like? You can’t get much better than the ’59 Impala SS IMHO.

I agree. It’s beautiful. I was rolling down the road today, thinking how all the cars look the same.

    UPDATE at 12/28/09 6:03:37 pm:

I’ve been undecided on the issue of trying Gitmo detainees for a long time — but I’m now in favor of trying the Gitmo detainees in civilian court, throwing the book at them, and locking them up after they’ve been given due process, and convicted, and no one can complain any more.

And if they aren’t convicted, it’s because we didn’t have enough evidence to convict them.

I have a lot more faith in the American criminal justice system than I do in Saudi Arabia’s “art therapy” program.

    Thus spake Icarus.

Here we go. It’s a custom job built on a C6 Corvette chassis, as I thought:

    1957 Chevrolet Bel Air 789 by n2a – C6 Corvette Chassis

Combining design elements from different classic Chevrolet models, the 789 shows the world that you really can’t have enough of a good thing. The 789 looks instantly iconic because it is a melding of 1957, 1958 and 1959 Chevys. Who says you can’t have it all, time tested classic design and up-to-date performance and reliability. This vehicle is built on a 2005-2007 Corvette C6 chassis, virtually the same chassis that won its class at the 24 hours of LeMans for the past few years and is known in the car world as the best value in a performance chassis ever produced.

That’s the car I saw in Raton. Not that exact car in the pictures, but one like it.

There’s nobody in there for “trying to blow up a Humvee in Iraq,” or for “buying a fallafel at the wrong stand.”

Only a tiny percentage of the tens of thousands of people we’ve captured over the past 8 years end up in Gitmo.

What will be interesting is that if these terrorist scum at Gitmo get their criminal trial in the USA, and for some reason get off on a technicality, what happens then?

The USA isn’t going to let these guys go free.

Obama has already said they will be found guilty and they will be executed.

I’m sorry to post another CJ comment but since I haven’t been to LGF in a few weeks I am astounded to see this defense of ABC News by Charles in the “Bush Administration Releases Two Al Qaeda Leaders…” thread. This is hardly the CJ of ye olde LGF (bold comments are dear leader’s):

This is but a single report…that Gitmo released prisoners were behind this. Shouldn’t we call a 24 hr rule on this before we go all Bush Derangement on this?

It looks pretty solid to me. ABC News is not likely to run something like this unless they’re sure of it.

Since this has turned into another Chuckles-bashing thread, here’s his latest doozy:

As we catch up on environmentalist Peter Sinclair’s excellent videos debunking the most common climate change denial canards, here’s one from earlier this year about the so-called “Medieval Warming Period” — another false talking point that shows up in every LGF thread about global warming.

Huh. There was no medieval warming period.

    Amazing.

    @ Runner:

It ain’t Charles Johnson. He’s done a Wonkette/Sullivan on us. It’s three college kids. That’s why the persona seems to shift over time.

Yup. Dread Pirate Roberts in charge. Has anyone checked to see if he has actually sold the business and is more like a Col. Sanders figurehead now?
