Coldwarrior…go back to last nights thread about the Twilight Zone. I reposted a conversation I had with a really young cousin on facebook last night. Teh Stoopid is strong in this one. You should get a kick out of it.
@ vagabond trader:
I have no idea where he came up with his shit. lol I schooled him though. Haven’t heard from him since. Maybe he is reading….a BOOK!!! **gasp** I hope he took something from our conversation though.
The Obama administration and Jordan laid out a new tack in Mideast peace efforts on Friday, pressing Israel and the Palestinians to take on the tough issues of borders for a Palestinian state and the status of Jerusalem before addressing other obstacles.
Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and Jordanian Foreign Minister
Nasser Judeh said that dealing with those matters first would eliminate
Palestinian concerns about continued construction of Jewish settlements in disputed areas. Clinton and Judeh said negotiations should begin as soon as possible and be bound by deadlines.
Clinton is freaken moron. Has she read ANY history. Is she competing to have an award after her?
The German government has passed intelligence concerning terrorist elements which have recently infiltrated Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon to the government in Beirut, Al-Nahar reported on Friday.
This is a headline from today’s paper? It could have been written 60 years ago, 50 years ago, 40 years ago, 30……………..makes ha want to cry.

I should be a youth counselor. Or a teacher. I have a calling that I never answered and I am sorry for that now. I hate stupidity. But, all young people know everything and we old folks are just narrow minded.//
Just saying hello to you all. I just registered with this site. I still go to LGF once in a while but rarely post anymore. Charles can be right on sometimes but as a Christian I really don’t feel welcome there anymore. Heaven forbid that I should make any kind of ‘fundie’ remark (BTW, I’m an old-earther creationist, not young-earth). He tends to go way overboard about whatever hobby-horse he’s riding on any particular day.
@ m:
Is there a specific place we’re supposed to vote, other than on the thread? I haven’t seen anything, and I have Noscript set to accept scripts here. Do I need to do anything else?
@ vagabond trader:
IMO he is on the cusp of adulthood. How he spends his next 10 to 15 years is what matters to me. Oh, and I hope he DOESN’T register to vote. lol
Had a great time on Facebook last night with Princess Natasha. She was celebrating the Orthodox Christmas. She seems like a really nice lady. I am proud to claim her as a friend. Remember to ask her how her Christmas went.
Does Zombie come here? I was really missing him at LGF

I would like the Falacci to stay the Falacci. She was awesome and a real feminist, not a feminazi, caring about the plight of women in truly repressive cultures. If the last baby had been a girl (he wasn’t!), we were thinking of the name Orianna. (It was actually my husband’s suggestion.)

all of the new russian orthodox parishes are to celebrate on the 25th, the orthodox church of america celebrates on the 25th….i fear the later celebration will fall away eventually. and that is sad
@ coldwarrior:
There is a beautiful Byzantine church up towards Sewickley. You can see its beauty and granduer from outside. I asked Natasha if it would be a good idea to try a mass there. She told me to go for it. I embrace my Orthodox brethren.
if you are going to send a message, do it right. WOW!
MEXICO CITY – The body of 36-year-old Hugo Hernandez was left on the streets of Los Mochis in seven pieces as a chilling threat to members of the Juarez drug cartel. A note read: “Happy New Year, because this will be your last.”
They used to do that out at Bluff Point in Groton. Libturds are so eager to impose restrictions on human life in the name of lebensraum but have such high standards when it comes to eliminating overpopulated disease carrying animals.
@ vagabond trader:
Was it our esteemed blog founder who threatened to shove a stick in “someones” spokes too? I could be wrong but that sounds familiar. That was the death threat, right? LOL hilarious and clever.
On the eve of his visit to the Middle East, US special envoy George Mitchell threatened that his country would freeze its aid to Israel if the Jewish state failed to advance peace talks with the Palestinians and a two-state solution.
Mitchell clarified in an interview to the PBS network that the United States would use incentives or sanctions against both sides.
According to American law, Mitchell said, the US can freeze its support for aid to Israel. He added that all options must remain open and that the sides must be convinced about what their important interests are.
I hope all my liberal Jewish friends and Family are happy now! UNFUCKINBELIVABLE
Not even sure the H even knew about the infamous death threat.Too funny! Uh-oh, bet this sets off the correlator tool app.for ferreting weaseling out raaaaacists.

Google Applies to Become Power Marketer

Google is stepping up its forays into the energy world.
The Internet search company, which consumes vast amounts of electricity to run the computers in its data centers, created a subsidiary last month called Google Energy. It then applied for approval from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to be allowed to buy and sell power much like utilities do.

I don’t think so either. OK, I’m gonna blurt it out …..
I am wearing out the scroll wheel on my trackball going past the interminable “ever-so-clever new ways to trash Chuck” posts. I just want to totally forget that fool exists. And I don’t think it advances our common issues one iota flaming him on here. Also ….
It seems to me that the awards should be named for someone or something that doesn’t require an attached explanation of who/what the name means. Sure, many or most here now are familiar with Fallaci and Neda (I wasn’t) but I don’t think they’ll get much traction beyond.
All that said, shouldn’t there be a runoff of the top two names and then candidates in each category? Otherwise a winner could have only …say 22% of the total votes.

OT: I don’t know the way to present an article here more formally. But this one is a serious assessment of the major shift in American foreign policy under Obama.
It’s not pretty…and it bodes ill for the free world.
I urge you all to read it.
A snippet:
“…Obama and his foreign policy team have apparently rejected two of the main pillars of this post–World War II strategy. Instead of attempting to perpetuate American primacy, they are seeking to manage what they regard as America’s unavoidable decline relative to other great powers. They see themselves as the architects of the “post-American” world. Although they will not say so publicly, in private they are fairly open about their policy of managed decline. In dealings with China, especially, administration officials believe they are playing from a hopelessly weak hand. Instead of trying to reverse the decline of American power, however, they are reorienting American foreign policy to adjust to it….”

I saw “jazz guitarist” referenced upthread (downthread?) and fetched my vinyl copy of Stanley Clarke’s School Days because I knew Charles Johnson played on it. I laughed out loud when I saw for the first time: Icarus Johnson: electric guitar, acoustic guitar
I had just voted for “The Icarus” on the poll. Thought the reference was to the Greek fable. I didn’t know Charles was using it in order to vote twice. Lol.
I had just voted for “The Icarus” on the poll. Thought the reference was to the Greek fable.
Great! That’s a big plus for that choice. It stands on its own as a reference to foolish presumption and hubris. (But it also has a poke at CJ in it for those who want one!)
Icarus for idiotarian.
David for heroism.
Solomon for anti-idiotarian.
All of which evoke the appropriate idea without referring to a possibly-unfamiliar individual.
i voted the olberman, becasue he isnt quite as irrelevant as cj

Ha ha ha, the Jazz Guitarist is an online Stalin.
No. The NYT is an archaic, contemptuous rag as it always has been. Feeble fools with a captured audience.

Welcome. Enjoy the taste of freedom.
Happy Friday all!
Lol.

Great! That’s a big plus for that choice. It stands on its own as a reference to foolish presumption and hubris. (But it also has a poke at CJ in it for those who want one!)
I see Keep it “The Fallaci”! is currently winning. What we change it to is less important than the fact that it really ought to be changed.
