    Icarus for idiotarian.
    David for heroism.
    Solomon for anti-idiotarian.

All of which evoke the appropriate idea without referring to a possibly-unfamiliar individual.

The Obama administration and Jordan laid out a new tack in Mideast peace efforts on Friday, pressing Israel and the Palestinians to take on the tough issues of borders for a Palestinian state and the status of Jerusalem before addressing other obstacles.

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and Jordanian Foreign Minister
Nasser Judeh said that dealing with those matters first would eliminate

Palestinian concerns about continued construction of Jewish settlements in disputed areas. Clinton and Judeh said negotiations should begin as soon as possible and be bound by deadlines.

Clinton is freaken moron. Has she read ANY history. Is she competing to have an award after her?

Just saying hello to you all. I just registered with this site. I still go to LGF once in a while but rarely post anymore. Charles can be right on sometimes but as a Christian I really don’t feel welcome there anymore. Heaven forbid that I should make any kind of ‘fundie’ remark (BTW, I’m an old-earther creationist, not young-earth). if you are going to send a message, do it right. WOW!

MEXICO CITY – The body of 36-year-old Hugo Hernandez was left on the streets of Los Mochis in seven pieces as a chilling threat to members of the Juarez drug cartel. A note read: “Happy New Year, because this will be your last.”

To drive home the point, the assailants skinned Hernandez’s face and stitched it onto a soccer ball.

On the eve of his visit to the Middle East, US special envoy George Mitchell threatened that his country would freeze its aid to Israel if the Jewish state failed to advance peace talks with the Palestinians and a two-state solution.

Mitchell clarified in an interview to the PBS network that the United States would use incentives or sanctions against both sides.

According to American law, Mitchell said, the US can freeze its support for aid to Israel. He added that all options must remain open and that the sides must be convinced about what their important interests are.

I hope all my liberal Jewish friends and Family are happy now! UNFUCKINBELIVABLE

Google Applies to Become Power Marketer
    By MIGUEL HELFT
Google is stepping up its forays into the energy world.

The Internet search company, which consumes vast amounts of electricity to run the computers in its data centers, created a subsidiary last month called Google Energy. It then applied for approval from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to be allowed to buy and sell power much like utilities do.

    Can you say ENRON?

I don’t think so either. OK, I’m gonna blurt it out …..

I am wearing out the scroll wheel on my trackball going past the interminable “ever-so-clever new ways to trash Chuck” posts. I just want to totally forget that fool exists. And I don’t think it advances our common issues one iota flaming him on here. Also ….
It seems to me that the awards should be named for someone or something that doesn’t require an attached explanation of who/what the name means. Sure, many or most here now are familiar with Fallaci and Neda (I wasn’t) but I don’t think they’ll get much traction beyond.
All that said, shouldn’t there be a runoff of the top two names and then candidates in each category? Otherwise a winner could have only …say 22% of the total votes.
    JMHO and /just sayin’

OT: I don’t know the way to present an article here more formally. But this one is a serious assessment of the major shift in American foreign policy under Obama.
It’s not pretty…and it bodes ill for the free world.

I urge you all to read it.

    A snippet:

“…Obama and his foreign policy team have apparently rejected two of the main pillars of this post–World War II strategy. Instead of attempting to perpetuate American primacy, they are seeking to manage what they regard as America’s unavoidable decline relative to other great powers. They see themselves as the architects of the “post-American” world. Although they will not say so publicly, in private they are fairly open about their policy of managed decline. In dealings with China, especially, administration officials believe they are playing from a hopelessly weak hand. Instead of trying to reverse the decline of American power, however, they are reorienting American foreign policy to adjust to it….”
