This is supposed to be an earthshaking revelation? Spouting raaaaacist slurs ok, invoking the name of G-d baaaad.

Schmidt said he asked Palin about her serenity in the face of becoming “one of the most famous people in the world.” He quoted her as saying, “It’s God’s plan

    More nontroversy from Schmidt:

Schmidt credited Palin with being a quick study and for giving a great speech at the Republican convention in St. Paul, Minn., but he said it soon became clear that she often was not accurate in her remarks.

“There were numerous instances that she said things that were — that were not accurate that, ultimately, the campaign had to deal with. And that opened the door to criticism that she was being untruthful and inaccurate. And I think that that is something that continues to this day,” he said

    .

Yeah because the other candidate was a font of truth and knowledge. He said so. In all 57 states, recounting the story of his uncle liberating Auschwitz and how open his administration would be.

She wouldn’t be growing gov’t, talking over private industry, raising taxes, and ignoring the deadly threat of ISLAMIC TERRORISM. And she would be using those words.

Word-of-mouth story from Hyannis, MA – Saturday, from friend who’d attended Scott Brown rally. 9 out of 10 cars honked in favor of their signs supporting Mr. Brown. Lots of ground swell support!

Later, party in private home conversations with Mr. Brown. Someone suggested Michael Steele come up and stump his campaign as the Clinton’s were about to do for Coakley…Mr. Brown rejected the plan, saying “When I go to Washington, I only want to be accountable to the people who’d elected me…” words to that effect.

Brit Hume follows Joshua’s lead – stepping into “strong and courageous”.

So today, we live a contradiction. We seek to convert politically while condemning as intolerant those who seek to convert religiously. Thus we fail to realize that politics and religion are inextricably linked. After all, politics is about putting into practice what is good, and this is impossible unless there is a knowable good. And there cannot be good in a real sense unless there is moral Truth — something outside of and above man that is the yardstick for making value judgments — and this implies God. Thus, we cannot determine good as a society unless we discuss Truth and God — those things categorized under “religion.” Ergo, faith is not a private matter.

President Obama declassifies our security information?

On December 29, and very much under the radar, (he was sunnin’ and funnin’ in Hawaii at the time), Obama declassified just about everything he possibly could. All of it will help foreign governments and Obama’s Communist-Socialist associates in the U.S. This executive order is a tsunami info-dump of newly declassified data — material that was classified before June 29, 1985. It is all about to be made public — despite the danger this poses to U.S. national security — 180 days from the signing of the Executive Order.

Taking the Measure of Obama’s Foreign Policy

Saying that the U.S. will ‘bear witness’ to brutality around the word is, in effect, to say that we will send flowers to funerals.

If the first year of President Barack Obama’s foreign policy were a law firm in Charles Dickens’s London, it would have a name like Bumble, Stumble and Skid.

It began with apologies to the Muslim world that went nowhere, a doomed attempt to beat Israel into line, utopian pleas to abolish nuclear weapons, unreciprocated concessions to Russia, and a curt note to the British to take back the bust of Winston Churchill that had graced the Oval Office. It continued with principled offers of serious negotiation to an Iranian regime too busy torturing, raping and killing demonstrators, and building new underground nuclear facilities, to take them up. Subsequently Beijing smothered domestic coverage of a presidential visit but did give the world the spectacle of the American commander in chief getting a talking-to about fiscal responsibility from a Communist chieftain.

Corrupt China officials pocket 50 billion: media

Thousands of officials have fled China over the past 30 years with some 50 billion dollars in public funds, state media said Monday, as the government scrambles to stem the tide of corruption.

As many as 4,000 officials have disappeared, using criminal gangs, mainly in the United States and Australia, to launder their ill-gotten gains, buy real estate and set up false identities, the Global Times said.

A joint task force involving 15 Chinese ministries has been set up to choke off graft in government ranks, the paper said.

In 2009, authorities investigated 103 cases involving the outbound travel of more than 300 officials, the paper said, citing a party official tasked with disciplinary issues.

In one case, the disappearance to France in 2008 of Yang Xianghong, a top Communist Party official in Wenzhou city, led to the arrest of his wife, who was charged with trying to launder 20 million yuan (2.9 million dollars), it said.

The paper did not detail how the 50 billion dollars were funneled overseas, or how the officials were linking up with criminal gangs abroad.

    @ Guggi:
And this is why China will not be a world power; there is a hollow core to its soul, it is intellectually bankrupt.

Before anyone buys a Chinese car, look at this video, ok?

Those cars should NOT be imported into this country.
Look how they crumple like an aluminum beer can.

I bet they’re covered in lead paint too.

    @ savage:
This reminds me of the old Doritos commercials with Jay Leno. The tag line was “Crunch all you want; we’ll make more.” This is fitting for both the cars and the Chinese people. Chinese automakers could give a wet slap for safety standards; make as much money as possible as fast as possible and don’t think about the safety standards– there are lots more consumers where they came from.

    @ m:
I think when the top vote getter has less than 50%, a run off election is necessary. Not trying to make more work, or steal the election or anything, jus sayin 32% is pretty low.

OT/ If you have kids or pets:

    Paper Shredder Dangers

    Excerpts:

[Story tells of how woman's pet dog accidentally got most of his tongue ripped out from licking the paper shredder. Vet advised her to put dog down, but as the article says, "t is possible for dogs to survive without their tongues, she learned. There are case studies to prove it." -and her dog is recovering just fine.]

Between January 2000 and September 2005, the CPSC received 50 reports of finger injuries – including lacerations and amputations – from home paper shredders. The majority of those injured were children younger than 5, although at least two dogs have endured similar experiences, and there are other cases of dogs getting their ears caught in shredders.

Among the victims was a 5-year-old boy in Dallas who had two fingers shredded when the device he was feeding paper into hesitated and then started up again, yanking his fingers into the blades.

Admins: please feel free to move my above post to another thread. I didn’t realize this was a special sticky topic until after I hit the “submit” button.

Anyway, I don’t know, several of the choices are very good. I like “Broken Spokes,” “Upchuck,” and “The Ponytail.” I haven’t voted yet because I’m still undecided.

The underwear bomber was read his rights and then used his right to remain silent. He isn’t an american citizen, legal resident or enev legal guest… Reading his rights should have been a short list… He has none.

I am proud to have voted. Although, I wish that William F. Buckley, the first openly conservative media member had been nominated in some manner. Perhaps an award for excellence in Journalism could be awarded from this prestigious site in his honor. Just my personal opinion.

    @ Mrs.Robinson:
I get what youre saying but he’s just not important .Its fun to point out his hypocrisy, false facts, conspiracy mongering ,and hysterical shrieking over nothing(while ignoring the big picture)but hes powerless.
While ,say,Obama is a denger to the entire country(and therefore the world),Charles is just flicking his “little green footballs”at a poster of Sarah Palin.
Now if we have a special “Pod Person” award(think”Invasion of the Body Snathers”,he gets all my votes!

Wasn’t there a Republican candidate for POTUS who was ruined because of using the word “macacha” (sp) in a speech? I have never heard the word before and have no idea of it’s meaning, however the donks pounced on him and destroyed his candidacy.
Yet Harry Reid will get a free pass for his blunder.
The double standard at work here is breathtaking.

I voted to keep it ‘The Fallaci’ and ‘The Ponytail’–it has a nice ring to it.

I agree generally with calling it the Icarus Award, although I wonder if we should have two separate categories.

The Icarus Award would be for paranoid faux-rationalist asshattery.
Then another award would be for exemplary leftwing idiocy; we could call it something like “The Nobel Peace Prize”.
