Blogmocracy Awards – 2009!

by m ( 162 Comments › )
Filed under Blogmocracy, Polls at January 29th, 2010 - 6:00 pm

Here we go again!

Sorry for the late start on voting. Since the nominations were spread out over a bunch of different threads, it took me longer than I thought finding time to sort through them.

The polls will stay up until next Friday, Feb 5th. One vote per day, per person please.

The Icarus Award – formerly known to us as “The Fiskie”.

The Fallaci Award

(with many thanks to Bosch Fawstin for the images)

Update: Thank you Robert Spencer! The Fallaci is back!

Comments are the sole opinion of the comment writer, just as each thread posted is the sole opinion or post idea of the administrator that posted it or of the readers that have written guest posts for the Blogmocracy.

Obscene, abusive, or annoying remarks may be deleted or moved to spam for admin review, but the fact that particular comments remain on the site in no way constitutes an endorsement of their content by any other commenter or the admins of this Blogmocracy.

We're not easily offended and don't want people to think they have to walk on eggshells around here (like at another place that shall remain nameless) but of course, there is a limit to everything.

Play nice!

Beck and O’Reilly had a sold out show of 19,000 people at their event in Florida. It is incredible that conservative pundits are the new rock stars of the world. Who would have thought this before Zero was crowned king of the world?
BTW, Zero only had abt. 2000 people at his “job town hall” in Fla. Zero just doesn’t have what it takes.

    Don’t ask,
    Don’t tell,,

don’t ask about the weather and fixing the water gaps

all’s your going to get is ,,, cold, windy, rainey, and at the end of the day, snow

don’t tell me about man made global warming
to much work on man made water gaps,,,

of some note : after got in the house
the Republicans for Gov. of Texas were
on TV ABC channel 8 Dallas…

ms tfk says Debra Media won it once more, hands down

mr tfk thinks so, too, also

Perry just dodges the questions and wiggles and grin’s
Hutchison looks blank and tells bs

Debrah looks at the camera, “at the people”
talks clear, is very beliveable, and gives real answers

our bet is she is ahead of Hutchison now,
and will draw even with Perry soon…

It’s not just about doing something about the commie Democrats

the R’s need some weeding done too…

    later

Type O Negative:Wolf Moon (Including Zoanthropic Paranoia)

    The 28th day
    She’ll be bleeding again
    And in lupine ways
    We’ll alleviate the pain

    Unholy water
    Sanguine addiction
    Those silver bullets
    A last blood benediction

    It is her moon time
When there’s iron in the air
    A rusted essence
Woman may I know you’re there

    Unholy water
    Sanguine addiction
    Those silver bullets
    A last blood benediction

    Hey wolf moon
Come cast your spell on me
    Hey wolf moon
Come cast your spell on me

    Don’t spill a drop dear
Let me kiss the curse away
    Yourself in my mouth
Will you leave me with your taste?

    Hey wolf moon
Come cast your spell on me
    Hey wolf moon
Come cast your spell on me

    Beware
    The woods at night
    Beware
    The Lunar light

    So in this gray haze
    We’ll be meeting again
    And on that great day
I will tease you all the same

    Unholy water
    Sanguine addiction
    Those silver bullets
    A last blood benediction

    Hey wolf moon
Come cast your spell on me
    Hey wolf moon

That leak was the single most significant act of the year.

It must be maddening being the leaker. You see all the headlines, you see the books being sold, you see all the people being interviewed on TV, and you know you caused it all, but you can’t say anything. It is true…. Bruce Wayne puts on the mask of Batman, but Superman, when he needs to hide who he is…. becomes the bumbling Clark Kent.

Just as Batman is Bruce Wayne’s personification of fear to be struck into the underworld, Clark Kent is the personification of how Superman views humanity.

The odd bit about Superman, though, is that he has no courage. He fights criminals armed with guns that can’t hurt him, gas that can’t kill him and lasers that can’t cut him. He has nothing to fear and, as such, never faces fear.

Courage is facing fear and engaging in the fearful activity anyway.

That is one of the most important lessons a parent needs to teach a child. Especially boys, because they are more apt to confuse fearlessness with courage.
I think it’s a part of nature that males need to appear confident and cool when facing trouble, so as not to give the enemy any clue or advantage. So heroes present themselves to us as fearless, when what they really are doing is controlling and overcoming fear.

Maybe some better minds than mine can explain what is really happening here:

WASHINGTON — Former President George H.W. Bush and his son Jeb paid a social call on President Barack Obama at the White House Saturday.

The former president, 85, walked gingerly into the White House, using a cane, as heavy snow fell. He departed 35 minutes later, telling reporters it was a “good meeting, good meeting.”

His son Jeb, a former governor of Florida, was with him.

White House aides said the visit was simply a social call because the former president was in Washington for a dinner.

Obama to Propose $3.8 Trillion Budget

President Obama is expected to send a $3.8 trillion budget to Congress on Monday for the coming fiscal year, according to The New York Times.

Obama’s budget would increase financing for education and for civilian research programs by 6 percent and provide cash-strapped states $25 billion, the newspaper reported.

The proposal comes as the president seeks to impose a three-year spending freeze on domestic spending not related to national security or entitlement programs.

The budget proposes increases for programs at the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation and the Energy Department, according to the newspaper.

The fiscal budget looks to cut projects of the Army Corps of Engineers and scrub NASA’s plan to return astronauts to the moon.

National security, veterans programs, Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security would be exempted from the cuts.

WTF is this guy thinking? I remember, back in the 80s, when Reagan lamented that the entire National Debt hit $1 Trillion, now this guy is proposing a budget FOR JUST ONE YEAR of $3.8 TRILLION?

Recently, the insanity of a $1.38 TRILLION budget has been widely lamented, NOW IT’S UP TO $3.8 TRILLION?!?

    The man is friggin INSANE!!!
