Vegas has the line (at 1600 eastern) with the Colts -4 and the over under at an astounding 57 points!

Tonight its the Saints and the Colts in the big one. Rodan tells me from the parties in Miami that my beloved Steeler Nation is there in force (which should go without saying) and that they are 100% behind the Saints. I like that choice, but if I were betting, its the Colts winning it.  The Saint’s defense is going to have play well above their 25th ranking to win this.

Next year is uncapped salary year, then if negotiations fail, its another NFL players strike. Regardless of who you root for, or even root at all, enjoy the day!

The Nor’eastern that blew through the mid-Atlantic dropped record snow in DC, Delaware, New Jersey, Maryland, Pennsylvania, et cetera. It was strong enough to drop 21” in Pittsburgh. That’s the 4th highest total in history. There are pictures on part 1 if you want to see the

WASHINGTON — President Obama’s top counterterrorism adviser expressed frustration with Washington on Sunday, saying Republicans are playing politics on national security and making ignorant allegations about the investigation into the Christmas airliner plot.

Saying congressional Republicans are using a “500-mile screwdriver” to criticize the administration about its response to the failed attack in Detroit, Deputy National Security Adviser John Brennan said the GOP is motivated by partisan purposes and second-guessing the case.

“Quite frankly, I’m tiring of politicians using national security issues such as terrorism as a political football,” Brennan said. “They are going out there. They’re unknowing of the facts. And they’re making charges and allegations that are not anchored in reality.”

Where was this fuckin asshole the last 8 years when President Bush was in charge and during the Election when the Democrats only played politics. Dick weed.

BHO now on with Katie Couric doing partisan Q&A as the run up to
the Super Bowl. He will just not get out of our faces.
He said that he has to continue on healthcare & as an example a
California Insurer is taking a 39% increase on personal policies.

That is not 39% to to their bottom line, it is to cover underwriting losses & their margins are probably the same.
The only way that a national plan could curb those increases is rationing, but don’t say Death Panels.

The Israeli boy who was seriously injured over the weekend when a land mine exploded in the Golan Heights said on Sunday that the area his family had been visiting had not been marked as a closed military zone.

“At the place where we were playing there was no fence and we could all enter freely,” said Daniel Yuval, 11, adding that there “there was a fence further up the mountain.”

I feel real bad for the kid and his family. But anyone who has spent alot of time on the Golan knows the risks. Every year many cows meet the same fate.

My guess is the game starts defensively. The opening drive will fizzle, and eventually some team will put up 3 points to mark the first score of the game. The second quarter will see a little more action with a couple of TD’s.

Going into the half, it will be Colts 13, Saints 17.

Then, in the 4th with about 5 mins left in the game, it will be Colts 30, Saints 24. Brees will toss a rare pick and the Colts will wind the clock down to just past the two minute warning and put another 3 up. 33 to 24. Saints get the ball, drive, fail.

Final score Indy 33 to N.O. 24 hitting 57 points total on the dot. Wooo!!!

Get ready for the ridiculous Katrina drivel throughout the game. Afterwards, a disastrous flood will strike New Orleans again… this time it will be the tears of Saints fans causing the city to seek refuge in the Superdome again. Cue photo of Saints jersey wearing fan floating face down in the murky tear water.

In all seriousness though. The Saints most certainly have a shot. Chalk me up on board with the “dislike Indianapolis” folks. But I’ve watched too many games this season hoping for them to fail and they didn’t. So maybe I can jinx them with my prediction.

It is their game. The Saints have motivation, the Colts think of history… Remember Giants at Patriots. Game over

An exclusive survey of some 3,000 active-duty troops shows such opposition has fallen sharply from nearly two-thirds (65 percent) in 2004 to about half (51 percent) today. The survey results appear Monday in Army Times, Air Force Times, Navy Times and Marine Corps Times

    @ vagabond trader:

You have snow, we have Democrats. Lots of STUPID Democrats!
Here’s a plan to raise tax revenues:

“The bill to allow casino gambling was introduced by Rep. Jon Riki Karamatsu, a Democrat who is chairman of the Judiciary Committee.

HB 2251 allows for a gaming commission to issue one 5-year license to a casino gaming operation in a county with a population of more than 500,000 — i.e., the City & County of Honolulu.

The bill would limit casino gaming to persons over 21 who are either nonresidents or have round-trip tickets with a final destination outside of Hawaii. It would also create a wagering tax on casino gaming.”

Get that? Hawaii residents not allowed to gamble!
God, don’t save me from myself. Save me from Democrats!

Watching the game with the wife, just to be polite and keep the peace. She knows more about sports than I would ever hope to. She is the daughter of a university b-ball coach and was was a uni team manager as an undergrad.

I did however make some shit fire and save the matches chili, which I am washing down with a central coast pinot noir. I spent the day roughing in the waste lines for our new basement bathroom and filling my new ammo cans up with this past years acquisitions, which were temporarily stored in beer coolers, so my man card is firmly intact despite my lack of the gene that causes sportomania.

Saints need to get in the game or this thing will be over by halftime. I had to make an emergency run to Navasota to get some oil & gas leases signed. 4 of the 5 family members balked which pretty much shot my need to drive over here on Super Bowl Sunday. So I’m stuck here in a motel room.

It will be interesting to see what Pete Townsend can do at 65. I saw those guys in Dallas in 1970. I don’t know if it was the hyper-decibels or too much pot smoke but I ended up with a heck of a nose bleed.

Don’t like to watch sports, so I’ve been working on a new skill. My sister wants me to teach her continental-style knitting when she comes up from Texas to visit in a couple of weeks. Despite her opinion, I don’t know everything there is to know about the fiber arts, so I’ve had to teach myself how to do it first.

Too bad she didn’t ask earlier, methinks. It’s a more efficient and faster method, even though I’m still having a bit of a problem with tension control.

Less money for Big Abortion is less money in the coffers of the Democrat Party. It really is that simple. A truly vicious—and probably effective—anti-abortion campaign could likely be done by collecting all those “dead baby jokes” that were popular among elementary school kids in the late ’60s, and issuing them as part of an anti-abortion book.

My path on abortion is much the same. I was in the camp of “it ain’t the guv’ment’s bidness”. One day I thought, (1) “why does abortion occupy the highest plank of the democrit platform?” and (2) “In the law of nature, what could be more perverse than ripping a baby from its mother’s womb?”

There’s in my mind a disingenuousness factor. They claim that abortion should be “safe, legal, and rare”. And they they flip whenever someone tries to discourage it.

I don’t know if the doctors themselves couldn’t make as good money doing something else, but Big Abortion basically means Planned Parenthood. And they are addicted to the income.

Maui has nice beaches on the Kihei coast. Night life is not big deal there. Hana is a time capsule back to 1960.
Oahu has it all. Shopping, night life, restaurants, nice beaches outside of Waikiki if you do your homework and explore. In the winter there’s the North Shore surfing to see. Those guys are nuts!
Big Island has few beaches. Very young island. It’s beautiful country style resorts, good fishing, and active volcanoes.
Kauai is my favorite. Unreal beaches, the most natural beauty. Waimea Canyon (Grand Canyon gone Aloha!), Hanalei Bay is like walking into a post card. But Kauai is the wettest spot on earth. So rain can ruin a vacation.
I suggest she do as much research she can about each Island. Allow 5-6 days per island visited.

And speaking of disingenuousness, I resent the way the abortion enthusiasts have hijacked the word “choice”. It’s a dishonest euphemism. If I want to legalize pot, and I say I’m “pro-choice”, that’s not the understood message. It’s cowardly and dishonest to hide behind the word “choice”. If the hempsters are brave about to use the word “hemp” or “marijuana”, then the abortion enthusiasts can jolly well spit the word that describes what they actually want legal. They’re not very proud of it if they refuse to even say it.

  219. 219 | February 7, 2010 5:12 pm

    @ huckfunn:

I’ll add to that 3) Why is this “right”, which is not explicitly in the Bill of Rights, more protected than any right that is enumerated in the Bill of Rights? If they protected the Second Amendment as drastically (dare I say extremely?) as they do abortion, 12 year olds would have the right to buy nukes without informing their parents. Seems extreme to me.
