Amazing that someone can look at a baby like this and see nothing but a “fetus”.

I have heard that the new 3d imaging software that GE developed for sonograms caused abortion rates to drop. It was hard to say this is just a “fetus” when you can see it move, its heart beat, it sucks its thumb, sleeps, etc…

But hey, its all about choice. and if you choose to have the baby, planned parenthood will scream.

    @ MikeA:

See, if you “choose” to have the baby, its a “baby” from the time of conception. If you “choose” to abort it is a “fetus” up until delivery.

  12. song_and_dance_man
    12 | February 8, 2010 11:01 am

The life of the yet to be born begins at conception. The selfish and uncaring look for a reason to be irresponsible and that is the basis of the abortionists argument.

Or, “It’s not a baby – it’s just a “blob” of cells!” Progs are such liars. If people could see what a baby looks like – even before most women realize they are pregnant – then abortion would be a thing of the past. As it should be!

  15. goddessoftheclassroom
    15 | February 8, 2010 11:06 am

FWIW, I remember how devastated I felt when it was suspected that I had an ectopic pregnancy, and I naively assumed that the embryo could be transplanted into my uterus. I’ll never forget the compassionate sadness of the nurse who explained that that was impossible.

It turned out that I didn’t have an ectopic pregnancy, but I know I would have felt as though I’d lost a baby.

Apparently, John Murtha passed away after complications from gall bladder surgery.

Two of my relatives (one in his 30s and one in his 40s) had serious complications from bad gall bladders and the accompanying surgery. They were both lucky to live through it.

It has the reputation of being a simple problem with a simple surgery, but things can go horribly wrong even if someone is fairly young and strong.

Man! Over the pat couple of days I’m noticing a large amount of dissent among the conservative punditry ranks.

PJM’s got it in for WaTimes and Beck today.

And the there’s this from a
piece in the AT, with no explanation at all:

On these foundational templates, Palin’s vision of the movement is consistent with Rush Limbaugh’s and Mark Levin’s — and not so much in line with Glenn Beck’s or Mike Huckabee’s.

As kind of a fan of Ayn Rand, I was also a bit dismayed to see this in PJM a couple of days ago from Roger Kimball. Talk about your snobbery!

I guess it’s just my opinion, but there seems to be a bit of a rejection of the grassroots brewing.

All of these columns seem to me to smack of the same pretentiousness and elitism that the tea party movement explicitly rejects.

    IMHO.

It’s brutal if the person has any kind of complication (even if they end up surviving them). My younger relative almost lost his liver due to infections from gallstones that had exited from the gall bladder before it was removed. There were no symptoms of anything being wrong with his gall bladder at all until his liver stopped functioning normally.

Having a liver stop functioning when the person is young and doesn’t even drink is a pretty scary business. He was lucky to survive.

maybe they should look to Margaret Sanger to understand who should be aborted….

    On blacks, immigrants and indigents:
“…human weeds,’ ‘reckless breeders,’ ’spawning… human beings who never should have been born.” Margaret Sanger, Pivot of Civilization, referring to immigrants and poor people

On the rights of the handicapped and mentally ill, and racial minorities:
“More children from the fit, less from the unfit — that is the chief aim of birth control.” Birth Control Review, May 1919, p. 12

    On sterilization & racial purification:
Sanger believed that, for the purpose of racial “purification,” couples should be rewarded who chose sterilization. Birth Control in America, The Career of Margaret Sanger, by David Kennedy, p. 117, quoting a 1923 Sanger speech.

Margaret Saenger…founder of planned parenthood…the quotes are too many to include them all.

When you look at how sympathetically people like Susan Smith and that woman in Texas who drowned her kids (can’t recall her name off the top of my head) have been treated, as well as opposition to “infants born alive” laws (cf. Obama), it becomes obvious that a lot of pro-”choice” people don’t think that personhood even begins at birth. Peter Singer (I refuse to call that motherfucker “doctor”) thinks it should be 3 or 4. Interesting poll:

75% Are Angry At Government’s Current Policies
    Monday, February 08, 2010

Voters are madder than ever at the current policies of the federal government.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey shows that 75% of likely voters now say they are at least somewhat angry at the government’s current policies, up four points from late November and up nine points since September. The overall figures include 45% who are Very Angry, also a nine-point increase since September.

Just 19% now say they’re not very or not at all angry at the government’s policies, down eight points from the previous survey and down 11 from September. That 19% includes only eight percent (8%) who say they’re not angry at all and 11% who are not very angry.

    And this is special:

The divide between the Political Class and Mainstream voters, however, is remarkable. Eighty-eight percent (88%) of Mainstream voters are angry, but 84% of the Political Class are not. Those numbers include 57% of Mainstream voters who are Very Angry and 51% of the Political Class who are not angry at all.

Another way of saying it is that the political class are DANGEROUSLY out of touch. Time for a national blanket party. Maybe if they are an unemployed political class they will get more in touch with the mainstream…

    Ok, I’m confused.

It’s even more messed up when you consider that some of the babies being aborted are female.

This has been a big problem in nations like China, where due to cultural practices, male babies are favored. China has (or did have) a one child policy, and a lot of pregnant women would get an abortion is they found out the gender of the unborn baby was a female.

I don’t see how an adult female permitting the killing of an unborn female growing inside her is “feminist.”

Roe v. Wade specifically allowed for third trimester abortion to be banned by law, so infants born alive aren’t any threat to Roe. I don’t recall specifically about second trimester abortion. Roe was very narrowly taylored. It is subsequent decisions that has turned abortion into the most protected, unlimited and unlimitable right that we have.
