We're not easily offended and don't want people to think they have to walk on eggshells around here (like at another place that shall remain nameless) but of course, there is a limit to everything.
Play nice!

Amazing that someone can look at a baby like this and see nothing but a “fetus”.
Sick!
dunno about the thread wrath, looks like you just killed the blog. lol.

@ goddessoftheclassroom:
Howdy, wonderful to see you!
The worst argument against babies are the facts!
I have heard that the new 3d imaging software that GE developed for sonograms caused abortion rates to drop. It was hard to say this is just a “fetus” when you can see it move, its heart beat, it sucks its thumb, sleeps, etc…
But hey, its all about choice. and if you choose to have the baby, planned parenthood will scream.
You don’t understand, Wrath. We are being invaded by the alien Fetusians, and we must fight to preserve our way of life.
More absurdity from the “pro choice” crowd. Stooopid X 100.
http://www.lifenews.com/nat5975.html
@ MikeA:
See, if you “choose” to have the baby, its a “baby” from the time of conception. If you “choose” to abort it is a “fetus” up until delivery.
The life of the yet to be born begins at conception. The selfish and uncaring look for a reason to be irresponsible and that is the basis of the abortionists argument.
the guy that shot that doctor is a hero, i would like to buy him a beer.
WrathofG-d wrote:
Or, “It’s not a baby – it’s just a “blob” of cells!” Progs are such liars. If people could see what a baby looks like – even before most women realize they are pregnant – then abortion would be a thing of the past. As it should be!
FWIW, I remember how devastated I felt when it was suspected that I had an ectopic pregnancy, and I naively assumed that the embryo could be transplanted into my uterus. I’ll never forget the compassionate sadness of the nurse who explained that that was impossible.
It turned out that I didn’t have an ectopic pregnancy, but I know I would have felt as though I’d lost a baby.

Plus the fact that my mom (5′ 2″ and 78 years old now) would kick the living crap out of me if I ever thought of doing anything like that plus my dad would also kick the crap out of what was left…. And due to fact that I was brought up respecting women, I would never even THINK of hurting my mom.
That and the fact that she is a great cook. Love those Puerto Rican dishes…

I wonder whether Russian women, who use abortion as birth control and have multiple abortions, see the waste as ‘fetus’ or ‘baby’ in Russian?
John Murtha has passed away.
@ S the Elder:
Frankly, I get annoyed when the word “girl” and all its variationw are used as an insult for men. Although the “Betty White” commercial was funny, I bristled a little when the man was told “you’re playing like Betty White.” The appearance of Abe Vigado was a softening touch, though.

I hope this event can be mentioned without exhortations not to speak ill of the dead. I recall the sanctimony of the BVoAF when “The Lion of the Senate” died. Commenters came in with self-congratulations on how respectful the blog was being. I commented – ironically- that this show of respect was a silver lining in the dark clouds of the tragic day – and was promptly deleted.

But that doesn’t mean we should pretend that he was doing much good with his life or ’service’. Likewise Ted Kennedy.
Apparently, John Murtha passed away after complications from gall bladder surgery.
Two of my relatives (one in his 30s and one in his 40s) had serious complications from bad gall bladders and the accompanying surgery. They were both lucky to live through it.
It has the reputation of being a simple problem with a simple surgery, but things can go horribly wrong even if someone is fairly young and strong.

I’m not going to miss him. He was an embarrassment to the Corps and our country.

Usually the governor appoints a replacement until the next election (some states may be different). If the governor is a Republican, I’d bet he appoints a replacement of the same party as the former rep; if it is a Dem, he’ll appoint a Dem. Different rules and all.
@ RIX:
yeah and that was before the ad even RAN!
and now, all the so-called feminists are saying the (FAKE) tackle was violence against women. they are pathetic.
@ Nikis Knight:
some states have laws (or rules) which force the governor to replace the individual with a person from the same party.
John Murtha,
He served in Korea and received a Bronze Star and Two Purple Hearts for his service in Vietnam.
The FBI named Murtha an “unindicted co-conspirator” in its ABSCAM sting operation in the late 1970s and early ‘80s.

Yep. I had to have some stones removed. The pain that preceded the operation was the most intense I’ve ever felt before. And I’ve been in some real bad pain many times from mountain biking accidents.
Man! Over the pat couple of days I’m noticing a large amount of dissent among the conservative punditry ranks.
PJM’s got it in for WaTimes and Beck today.

As kind of a fan of Ayn Rand, I was also a bit dismayed to see this in PJM a couple of days ago from Roger Kimball. Talk about your snobbery!

We are, presumably, grown-ups, but this is not the graveside. Nor need we be concerned with the laws of slander. I do not myself propose to gloat at the death of someone I did not know personally. But I do not wish to see finger-wagging at those who have something to say about Murtha’s corruption during his life.
His epitaph: Death cannot corrupt him.
Murtha, called our troops murderers right off the bat, saying they had killed in cold blood because they couldn’t take the pressure. Of course, they were later exonerated and Murtha did not issue an apology.
@ vagabond trader:
It’s brutal if the person has any kind of complication (even if they end up surviving them). My younger relative almost lost his liver due to infections from gallstones that had exited from the gall bladder before it was removed. There were no symptoms of anything being wrong with his gall bladder at all until his liver stopped functioning normally.
Having a liver stop functioning when the person is young and doesn’t even drink is a pretty scary business. He was lucky to survive.
@ vagabond trader:
That would be nice actually. lol Oh… but in his case that would be head to toe black bag. lol

The first death I encountered after graduating nursing school was a poor fella who had a perforated gall bladder. He was misdiagnosed as being an alcoholic in DTs when in fact he was going into shock. It was horrible and left quite an impression.

Some I’d rather not remember, but you can imagine not too much shocks me.
When you look at how sympathetically people like Susan Smith and that woman in Texas who drowned her kids (can’t recall her name off the top of my head) have been treated, as well as opposition to “infants born alive” laws (cf. Obama), it becomes obvious that a lot of pro-”choice” people don’t think that personhood even begins at birth. Peter Singer (I refuse to call that motherfucker “doctor”) thinks it should be 3 or 4. Up until then if you snuff ‘em, no harm done.

Look to the shameless Dems to use Murtha’s death to promote their health care agenda, I will predict right now the tag line “Rep. Murtha had the best health care plan there was and yet he died of complications. Think of the millions of people WITHOUT health care who will die because they couldn’t get this surgery.”
It was so cute last night when Drew Brees celebrated the Saints’ win by holding his one year old son to share the moment with him!
What a cute baby!!
This little boy was born on his father’s 30th birthday last year.
When Murtha thought it would serve his purposes, he would insult his constituents with vulgar name calling and then to stay in office he would buy them off with pork.
There is something so dysfunctional abt. that arrangement. Battered voter syndrome.

#23 @ WrathofG-d:
It’s even more messed up when you consider that some of the babies being aborted are female.
This has been a big problem in nations like China, where due to cultural practices, male babies are favored. China has (or did have) a one child policy, and a lot of pregnant women would get an abortion is they found out the gender of the unborn baby was a female.
I don’t see how an adult female permitting the killing of an unborn female growing inside her is “feminist.”
@ Iron Fist:
And just to reiterate, Murtha was a traitor. When Abu bin Blowinshitup blew his balls off tying to down an airliner they read him his rights and called him an alledged terrorist. The Haditha Marines were all a bunch of murderers to Murtha. No alledged, no benefit of the doubt, just exactly what al Qaeda wanted to hear from him.
Traitor. He’s down on the ninth level with Judas now.

We had a bit of that here in the thread about some journalist who died (Walter Cronkite, I think it was).

@ RIX:
Roe v. Wade specifically allowed for third trimester abortion to be banned by law, so infants born alive aren’t any threat to Roe. I don’t recall specifically about second trimester abortion. Roe was very narrowly taylored. It is subsequent decisions that has turned abortion into the most protected, unlimited and unlimitable right that we have.
