The Ugly Truth About Jack Murtha

Well now that he is pushing up the daisies we can all say what we all really feel.  Murtha was corrupt, slanderous, arrogant and a liar -and those were probably his better qualities. He called his own constituents bigots – and they still voted him back in proving that every whore has her price.

by Michelle Malkin

We are not supposed to speak ill of the dead. But those whom the deceased viciously smeared and humiliated deserve to be defended. Entrenched Rep. John Murtha passed away on Feb. 8 after a botched gallbladder surgery. He has been hailed as a “military advocate” (Associated Press) and “one of the greatest patriots ever to serve in Congress” (former Rep. Harold Ford Jr.).

These obsequious obituaries leave out inconvenient truths: John “Jack” Murtha was an unrepentant smear merchant and corruptocrat to the bitter end.

In May 2006, during an MSNBC appearance that Marines and their families will never forget or forgive, Murtha accused US troops of wantonly killing some two dozen civilians, including children, in the terrorist stronghold of Haditha, Iraq. Bellowed Murtha: “Our troops overreacted because of the pressure on them, and they killed innocent civilians in cold blood.”

He publicly indicted the Marines before military investigations had been completed. His remarks opened military-bashing floodgates around the world.

In the wake of Murtha’s reckless blabbing, MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann accused the Haditha Marines of “willful targeted brutality.” The Nation magazine claimed that “members of the 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment perpetrated a massacre.” The New York Times dubbed Haditha the “defining atrocity” of the Iraq war. International papers piled on with Vietnam-era “My Lai” allusions. Murtha cold-bloodedly sat back and enjoyed the ride while the Marines were left twisting in the wind.

By 2008, seven of the Marines charged in the incident had been exonerated or had charges against them dropped. One still awaits a long, dragged-out trial this year.

Murtha, the so-called “military advocate,” went to his deathbed refusing to apologize or retract the attacks on the Haditha Marines (several of whom unsuccessfully sued him for libel to restore their honor). Decent people would call this intransigent treachery.

——————————

[...] In 1980, Murtha was an unindicted co-conspirator in a massive bribery probe — in which undercover FBI agents videotaped Murtha entertaining a $50,000 bribe from agents posing as emissaries for Arab sheiks trying to enter our country illegally. From transcripts of those conversations published by the late newspaper columnist Jack Anderson, Murtha’s true colors shined:

I want to deal with you guys awhile be fore I make any transactions at all, period. . . . After we’ve done some business, well, then I might change my mind. . . .”

I’m going to tell you this. If anybody can do it — I’m not B.S.-ing you fellows — I can get it done my way,” he boasted. “There’s no question about it.”

Murtha worried not about his integrity or how his constituents might be harmed, but about getting ratted out

The Haditha bit is why I call Murtha a traitor. You can’t tell me that his bullshit didn’t substantively help the Jihadis, both in terms of recruitment and morale, as well as hurting our own morale both military and civillian. The most charitable you can take it is that he did this with wanton disregard for the consequences. The SOB should have died in jail for his crimes.

As much as I disliked Murtha, another villan in this story is Tim McGirk of Time magazine, and the editors who put the story on the magazines front page. Rats, all of them.

His hatred for George Bush made him use these poor brave Marines as pawns in his political war against Bush. This man cared so little for our troops and their families that he lied about them. He trashed them in public, and then when it bacame obvious they were innocent, he refused any form of apology.

and I say piss on this man’s grave!

  13. 13 | February 13, 2010 3:52 pm

Even just after he died, it was hard not to say anything ill about John Murtha. What he did to the Haditha Marines was despicable, and his record as the king of earmarks says volumes.

With the 2010 Census forms coming, we need to give as little info not related to the number of people in a house as possible.

Gaza’s sole power plant will cease functioning within hours, the Palestinian Ma’an news agency said on Saturday, quoting the Strip’s Energy Authority.

The Gaza Energy Authority wrote in a statement that while of the power plant’s generators has been shut down, the remaining amount of fuel will only suffice to to continue the plant’s electricity output for a few hours longer.

Alabama Murders Prof. Shot Brother In Braintree

    THE BRAINTREE SHOOTING

Amy Bishop was 20 at the time of the shooting. Her brother Seth was 18.

Officer Ronald Solimini recalled the incident Saturday.

Here is his description, according to Frazier:

“He said he remembers that Ms. Bishop fired a round from a pump action shotgun into the wall of her bedroom. She had a fight with her brother and shot him, which caused his death.

She fired a third round from the shotgun into the ceiling as she exited the home. She fled down the street with the shotgun in her hand.

At one point she allegedly pointed the shotgun at a motor vehicle in an attempt to get the driver to stop. Officer Solimini found her behind a business on Washington Street.

Officer Timothy Murphy was able to take control of the suspect at gunpoint and seized the shotgun. Ms. Bishop was subsequently handcuffed and transported to the police station under arrest.”

Before Bishop could be booked, the police chief back then, John Polio, told officers to release her to her mother, Frazier said.

    ‘THE REPORT’S GONE’

The shooting was logged as an accident, but detailed records of the incident have disappeared, he said.

“The report’s gone, removed from the files,” Frazier said, adding that all he had was the police log from that day.

Read: Dec. 6, 1986 Police Log (.pdf)

He planned to meet with the district attorney over the possibility of launching a criminal investigation into the report’s disappearance.

    Bishop was never charged.

“The release of Ms. Bishop did not sit well with the police officers and I can assure you that this would not happen in this day and age,” Frazier said.

    FORMER CHIEF’S REPONSE

Polio said at the time it was an accidental shooting.

Reached at his home Saturday, he told WBZ he remembers the incident, but he did not recall ordering Bishop’s release and denied any allegation of a cover-up.

    Watch: John Polio’s Response

“Nobody was trying to cover anything up. Nobody was trying to take care of anybody. We had a job to do, we did it,” Polio said.

As for calling for Bishop’s release?

“I really don’t recall that at all,” he said.

“In fact, if I had to put my money on it, I didn’t.”

Polio said he turned the information over to the Norfolk District Attorney in December 1986, who was current U.S. Rep. William Delahunt.

WBZ has a call out to Delahunt’s office for comment.

The Norfolk District Attorney’s Office released its 1987 report of the incident Saturday night.

Read: DA’s report page 1 (.pdf)
    DA’s report page 2 (.pdf)
    DA’s report page 3 (.pdf)
    DA’s report page 4 (.pdf)
    DA’s report page 5 (.pdf)
    DA’s report page 6 (.pdf)

The official cause of death was listed as “the accidental discharge of a firearm.”

Bishop’s mother was on the Braintree Personnel Board at the time of the shooting.

Very interesting links in the article:

Comments from Chief Paul Frazier Regarding Amy Bishop

    Snip

“The suspect in the Huntsville shooting, Amy Bishop had been involved in a shooting incident in Braintree, Massachusetts in December of 1986. I located the Day Log from December of 1986 and found that the incident had occurred on December 6th. After finding the report number I looked in our archived files for the report. I was unable to locate the report.”

“Officer Ronald Solimini informed me that he wrote the report and said that I wouldn’t find it as it has been missing from the files for over 20 years. He said that former Police Chief Edward Flynn had looked for the report and that it was missing. He believes this was in 1988.”

Officer Solimini recalled the incident as follows: He said he remembers that Ms.

“Officer Solimini informed me that before the booking process was completed Ms. Bishop was released from custody without being charged.”

“I (Chief Frazier) spoke with the retired Deputy Chief who was then a Lieutenant and was responsible for booking Ms. Bishop. He said he had started the process when he received a phone call he believes was from then Police Chief John Polio or possibly from a captain on Chief Polio’s behalf. He was instructed to stop the booking process. At some point Ms. Bishop was turned over to her mother and they left the building via a rear exit.”

Braintree Police Lieutenant Karen MacAleese was a high school classmate and confirmed from photographs that the suspect is the same Amy Bishop who lived in Braintree.

“I was not on duty at the time of the incident, but I recall how frustrated the members of the department were over the release of Ms. Bishop. It was a difficult time for the department as there had been three (3) shooting incidents within a short timeframe. The release of Ms. Bishop did not sit well with the police officers and I can assure you that this would not happen in this day and age.”

“It is troubling that this incident has come to light. I can assure you that the members of the Braintree Police Department maintain the highest of integrity. Since it was discovered this morning that the report is missing, I have been in contact with Mayor Joseph Sullivan. Mayor Sullivan and I have spoken with District Attorney William Keating and we will be meeting with him next week to discuss this situation. The Mayor supports a full review of this matter and agrees that we want to know where the records are.”

It seems Delahunt was accused of being soft on crime during a run for Congress back in 1996. This new issue could prove even more troubling for Delahunt, assuming he intends to run for re-election this year.

In a testy final debate last night where both candidates displayed their growing distaste for each other, Democratic Norfolk County District Attorney William D. Delahunt described as “despicable” efforts by Republican Edward B. Teague to link him with a man who killed while out on a prison furlough in 1979. “You took advantage of a grieving man,” Delahunt said, referring to a letter by Joseph Gilmore of Canton that Teague has publicized. In it, Gilmore writes that Delahunt failed to follow through with a promise to notify the family that his daughter’s killer was out…

I’m not usually one to copy/paste (like youknowwho) but I thought this pretty funny:

HOW TO PLAY AND SING THE BLUES

    1. Most Blues begin with: “Woke up this morning…”

    2. “I got a good woman” is a bad way to begin the Blues unless you stick
something nasty in the next line like “I got a good woman with the
    meanest face in town.”

    3. The Blues is simple. After you get the first line right, repeat it.
Then find something that rhymes, sort of: “Got a good woman with the meanest
face in town. Yes, I got a good woman with the meanest face in town. Got
teeth like Margaret Thatcher, and she weigh 500 pound.”

    4. The Blues is not about choice. You stuck in a ditch, you stuck in a
ditch. There ain’t no way out.

    5. Blues cars: Chevys, Fords, Cadillacs and broken-down trucks. Blues
don’t travel in Volvos, BMWs, or SUVs. Most Blues transportation is a
Greyhound bus or a southbound train. Jet aircraft and state-sponsored motor
pools ain’t even in the running. Walkin’ plays a major part in the blues
lifestyle. So does fixin’ to die.

    6. Teenagers can’t sing the Blues. They ain’t fixin’ to die yet. Adults
sing the Blues. In Blues, “adulthood” means being old enough to get the
electric chair if you shoot a man in Memphis.

    7. Blues can take place in New York City but not in Hawaii or anyplace
in Canada. Hard times in Minneapolis or Seattle is probably just clinical
depression. Chicago, St. Louis, and Kansas City are still great places
to have the Blues. You cannot have the blues anyplace that don’t get rain.

    8. A man with male pattern baldness ain’t the Blues. A woman with male
pattern baldness is. Breaking your leg ’cause you were skiing is not the
blues. Breaking your leg ’cause a alligator be chomping on it is.

    9. You can’t have no Blues in a office or a shopping mall. The lighting
is wrong. Go out to the parking lot or sit by the dumpster.

    10. Good places for the Blues:
    a. highway
    b. jailhouse
    c. empty bed
    d. bottom of a whiskey glass

    Bad places for the Blues:
    a. Nordstrom’s
    b. gallery openings
    c. Ivy League colleges
    d. golf courses

    11. No one will believe it’s the Blues if you wear a suit, ‘less you
happen to be an old ethnic person, and you slept in it.

    12. Do you have the right to sing the Blues?

    Yes, if:
    a. you older than dirt
    b. you blind
    c. you shot a man in Memphis
    d. you can’t be satisfied

    No, if:
    a. you have all your teeth
    b. you were once blind but now can see
    c. the man in Memphis lived
    d. you have a 401K or trust fund

    13. Blues is not a matter of color. It’s a matter of bad luck. Tiger Woods
cannot sing the blues. Sonny Liston could. Ugly white people also got a
    leg up on the blues.

    14. If you ask for water and your darlin’ give you gasoline, it’s the Blues.
    Other acceptable Blues beverages are:
    a. cheap wine
    b. whiskey or bourbon
    c. muddy water
    d. nasty black coffee

The following are NOT Blues beverages:
    a. Perrier
    b. Chardonnay
    c. Snapple
    d. Slim Fast

    15. If death occurs in a cheap motel or a shotgun shack, it’s a Blues
death. Stabbed in the back by a jealous lover is another Blues way to die.
    So
are the electric chair, substance abuse and dying lonely on a broken-down
cot. You can’t have a Blues death if you die during a tennis match or while
    getting liposuction.

    16. Some Blues names for women:
    a. Sadie
    b. Big Mama
    c. Bessie
    d. Fat River Dumpling

    17. Some Blues names for men:
    a. Joe
    b. Willie
    c. Little Willie
    d. Big Willie

    18. Persons with names like Amber, Jennifer, Tiffany, Debbie, and
Heather can’t sing the Blues no matter how many men they shoot in Memphis.

    19. Make your own Blues name Starter Kit:
    a. name of physical infirmity (Blind, Cripple, Lame, etc.)
    b. first name (see above) plus name of fruit (Lemon, Lime, etc..)
    c. last name of President (Jefferson, Johnson, Fillmore, etc.)
Examples: Blind Lime Jefferson, Jackleg Lemon Johnson.

    20. No matter how tragic your life, if you own a computer you cannot sing
    the blues.

Ya know guys tomorrow is Valintines Day & you would like a special
song for your special gal. I hear ya, perhaps there is nothing that says I love you more than this number by Mr. Burt Reynolds.

Though your hair is all in tangles
And your makeup is a mess
    Most of what you’re drinking
    Is spilling down your dress

And to keep from falling off
    Your barstool’s ’bout
    All that you can do
    I’ll make my proposition
‘Cause I’m just as drunk as you

    [CHORUS]
Let’s do something cheap and superficial
Let’s do something that we might regret
Let’s do something shabby and insensitive
This might be the only chance we get

You got lipstick showing on your teeth
And a run down your hose
Where you got that cheap perfume
    God only knows

Now I’ll be glad to have you home
    Long before daylight
The sun is your worst enemy
    Thank God it’s dark tonight

    [Repeat CHORUS]

This might be the only chance we get

I will do all I can, but I don’t live in her district and will be honestly surprised if she runs and doesn’t win.

Sad but true. Hopefully we can nationalize the election a bit, and that it occurs soon so as not to get lumped in with all of the Nov. campaigns.
