Rescued: The Lost Threads Of Wild Irish Rose

OK, I’m not here to beat a dead horse. But I thought that with the relative significance of this rather ironic departure, it might be a good idea to mention that, in addition to the “goodbye“, the gal in question had completely scrubbed every one of those classic CJ worship threads from her blog.  This is such a shame, given the hours obviously invested on her part, and the countless more from us spent laughing and pointing.  But could they be lost….forever?

Not to fear, the google remembers everything (in no particular order):

Charles Johnson is right: on parting ways with the right

Money quote:

To the surprise of absolutely no-one, the usual mob of venomous frothing Johnson haters are out in force tonight, trying to downplay the post and discredit Johnson’s character on every venue that will allow them the bandwidth to do so, and on every blog post where the writer displays even a modicum of support for Mr. Johnson.

Charles Johnson is right: Kejda Gjermani takes on white supremacist Robert Stacy McCain

Charles Johnson is right: when right-wing smear merchants attack

Charles Johnson is right: Bruce Bawer slams fascist anti-jihad bloggers

Charles Johnson is right: exposing the haters… another violent threat from a rabid hatemonger

Charles Johnson is right: Mary Madigan gets it

Charles Johnson is right: Render gets it

Charles Johnson is right: defending the defensible

Charles Johnson is right: blogging with integrity, post 9/11

..and the crown jewel; this got the ultimate reward of a LGF main page entry (twitter redirect)…

Charles Johnson is right: why I stand in support of Charles Johnson and Little Green Footballs

…and the “oh my” quote:

Mr. Johnsons material is extremely well written, and thoroughly researched for accuracy before it ever posts on his mainpage. And if after posting he finds that he is in error, he is quick to post an immediate retraction.

This is called “journalistic integrity”… something that bloggers like the absurd, bikini-blogging Pamela Geller and the irresponsibly opportunistic Glenn Beck, will never have.

I’ve also come to understand the character of this man through his public comments, his refusal to tolerate arguementative, bigoted and violent comments from others on his website and his extraordinary personal commitment to diligent (and time-consuming) website moderation… something that is an extreme rarity in the blogosphere, among lazy bloggers who for the most part tend to post a disclaimer and hide behind it to avoid having to go back in and clean up the messes that they create.

Finally, I’ve come to understand over time who Charles Johnson is as a human being, not just a website administrator… and I like what I see.

I see a confident and dignified gentleman, a man who has clearly proven that he will not be intimidated or bullied into silence by anything or anyone… and I respect and admire that. I admire Mr. Johnson for his moral courage as well, his common sense, his strength of character, and his willingness to speak the truth – even if its’ unpopular, and comes with a price tag.

His tendency toward personal and professional restraint – even in the face of some of the most vile and defamatory abuse imaginable on websites like Atlas Shrugs, Jihad Watch, Brussels Journal, Gates of Vienna and a handful of smaller websites that exist solely to slander the mans’ reputation – is equally admirable.

Charles Johnson is a rarity in the oftentimes whorishly self-promotional world of politiblogging: a man who actually cares about the comments that are made on his website, doesn’t hesitate to give public credit to his ideological opponents where credit is due, and never goes out into the public square to toot his own horn.

But then, he really doesn’t need to… the quality of his work more than speaks for itself.

One has to wonder about the mindset of someone who would take the time to put up all that stuff in the first place, and wonder further about what dramatic development would prompt the same person to obliterate it all less than a year later.  (Any psychology buffs, feel free to chime in) A real heartbreaker, in any case.

Oh, and for a few more study material, go ahead and check out Irish Rose’s moment of glory in the old comment thread at 1.0.

Comments

Comments and respectful debate are both welcome and encouraged.

Comments are the sole opinion of the comment writer, just as each thread posted is the sole opinion or post idea of the administrator that posted it or of the readers that have written guest posts for the Blogmocracy.

Obscene, abusive, or annoying remarks may be deleted or moved to spam for admin review, but the fact that particular comments remain on the site in no way constitutes an endorsement of their content by any other commenter or the admins of this Blogmocracy.

We're not easily offended and don't want people to think they have to walk on eggshells around here (like at another place that shall remain nameless) but of course, there is a limit to everything.

Play nice!

That’s one long essay. Not sure I have the time to read the whole thing tonight. But a quick scan reveals that she’s right — for all the right reasons.

In the headlong rush to moonbat dementia in the early 2000′s, Joe Lieberman was just about the only Democrat who kept his head and who proved he loved America more than any Marxist ideal.

But now after Obama’s election, in the headlong rush by once-sane Americans to unquestioning acceptance of any potentially kooky right-wing ideology, LGF is just about the only place to hold the line.

And as any Revolutionary War soldier could tell you, being the only person holding the line when all your fellow soldiers have broken ranks is a very lonely place to be indeed.

    huh.
file this under: things I did not know

The modus operandi of the 1939 “Gleiwitz incident” is a popular tactic of those legacy journalists who, like Frank Rich of the New York Times, distort the facts of an event to fit their pre-determined storyline. Now it’s happening again with regard to J. Patrick Bedell and the Pentagon shooting incident.

On August 31, 1939, German SS soldiers dressed in Polish uniforms and took over a radio station near the German border with Poland. From there they broadcast an anti-German rant in Polish.

To make the ruse convincing, the Germans dressed a dead civilian German named Franciszek Honiok, reputed to be sympathetic to Poland, in a Polish soldier’s uniform and shot up his body to make it look like he was killed in a gun fight. Along with Honiok, they littered the scene with several other bodies of dead prisoners from Dachau concentration camp, also dressed as Polish soldiers.
This was just one of about a score of such incidents meant to incite German sentiment against Poland leading up to a planned German invasion of Poland the next day, September 1, 1939.

Similarly, Rich used words to dress up the murder-suicide of Andrew Joseph Stack III, the Austin pilot who flew into an IRS office, into the act of a Tea Party supporter.

It’ll be harder for Rich to dress up J. Patrick Bedell, shot dead by Pentagon guards, as a rightwing fanatic, although Rich may well be tempted.

Two new-media websites, PajamasMedia and Patterico, have outed Bedell as an anti-Bush, “9/11 Truther.” So it will be a real squeeze for any legacy media journalist to stuff Bedell’s body into a Tea Party uniform. But, invariably, someone will try

One has to wonder about the mindset of someone who would take the time to put up all that stuff in the first place, and wonder further about what dramatic development would prompt the same person to obliterate it all less than a year later.

Why wonder? It is the blog equivalent of the teenage girl crush who then tears up all the pictures of the old boyfriend and burns all his letters. Only this us much more public.

I was a long time reader of Crazy Chuck, but never posted. I have been LMAO watching his twisted desperation to blame recent left wing terrorist attacks on the tea parties. The Pentagon shooter. The IRS plane bomber. He showed the same frantic desperation to blame the death of the census worker on the tea parties. Of course that wacko committed suicide. To date, there hasn’t been a single episode of violence that can be connected to the tea parties. The recent terrorists are clearly left wing nut jobs. All 3 of the above were registered Democrats.

Charles is so rabidly crazed he would love nothing more than a confirmed tea party member to blow up a school full of children. Then he could gleefully shout “See,I told ya!” while at the same time rejoicing in the fact there would be less children to contribute towards global warming, lol.

    Hello everyone!
I just peeked in and wow. I had no idea that WIR had gone walkabout. I have not had a minute to write anything–been in London–and between times–jet lag jet lag jet lag. I also peeked over at the blog which shall not be named–ewww. It is like one of those old fashioned mental wards where people are randomly arguing and yelling and name calling and probably peeing on themselves–or smearing feces on the walls–scrawling names and messages…. it’s so weird.

Anyway, keep up the good work! Hello Savage, Rodan, M! I’m so happy to be able to call in late at night and still feel like I may be welcome. Thanks Chen for the WIR threads–I looked at them, too. She really had quite the bump in the road, didn’t she? I don’t think she has a son in the Marines, frankly.

Good night, all. If I have time to read the threads tomorrow, I hope someone will just wave and say hi!

  269. 270 | March 5, 2010 10:18 pm

    {kiss} goodnight! Ciao!

Speaking of links and such, not only does The Other McCain have The Blogmocracy on his link list, he also has cheerful words now and then analyzing the Frogger’s mental excursions:

Speaking of “tools,” the unlinkable Charles Johnson seized on this murderous dopehead’s Mises reference to implicate libertarianism. Single-sentence refutation:

Ronald Reagan was likewise a “devotee” of Mises and F.A. Hayek, but was not a murderous dopehead.

Case closed. But two can play the Little Green Footballs game:

    J. Patrick Bedell was from Southern California, just like Charles Johnson, Charles Manson and O.J. Simpson.

It is strange what a difference a few weeks can make. One would have thought that if there was such a thing as “safe lizard”, it would have been Sharm and Irish Rose. Yet in the space of a couple of weeks both have walked away, one undoubtedly has been banned and blocked.

I will not be surprised if that site shuts down in the not too distant future. Nor will I be surprised if it limps along, however, there is a distinct fin de siecle air about it.

Maybe, as has been suggested on this forum, Schmucky Johnson sees his website as an extension of his old band where groupies like Sharmuta and Irish Rose are welcomed one day and unceromoniously dumped the next. And if they whine and show very hurt feelings — well… been there, done that.

I’ve been reading this piece in the Telegraph about the killers of little Jamie Bulger in England.

it is a story that horrified me then and the memory still horrifies me. I notice that many of the commentators have the attitude of “So what if the killers were only 10, the Jamie Bulger remains dead and his killers should therefore still be locked up”. That sounds awfully shariaish for me, but would I feel the same way if it were my son?

I hope I never have to hear of such a thing again.

  395. 398 | March 6, 2010 5:32 am

    @ African Moondog:

It depends on whether you stick to a rigid assumption that a 10 year-old doesn’t understand death or the consequences of their actions. They do, oh my god do they ever understand.

These two kids committed a particularly horrible murder and they need to be punished for it. Not “understood” or any of the buzzwords that float around our penal system these days, but corrected. I can’t think of quite how it would work off the top of my head but there needs to be some system of actual correction, some way of bringing them to the point of realising that they committed a horrendous crime and that they will bear the responsibility for that crime for the rest of their lives. And there needs to be some atonement for that crime.

Nothing will bring Jamie back, but that isn’t carte blanche to let his killers get away with pre-meditated murder.

I was going to do a thread on this, but it’s too much like work. A big problem with the issue is that there is a whole range of separate but related questions that people run together. Roughly:

    Is the earth warming?
Over what time period are you asking?
How much (not whether) are humans contributing?
How much of human contribution is CO2, how much is CH4, how much is soot, how much is land use, how much is other, and what haven’t we even identified?
I can’t even get started about this “feedback” hocus pocus.
How realistic are the economic scenarios that they use to project 2100 temperature increase?
If the temperature does rise 2, or 3, or 4 degrees, what are the consequences?
    And on and on.

And I just rattled that off the top of my head. It’s not a simple “yes/no” question like some simpletons want to make it into.

Over what time period are you asking?
How much (not whether) are humans contributing?

How much of human contribution is CO2, how much is CH4, how much is soot, how much is land use, how much is other, and what haven’t we even identified?
I can’t even get started about this “feedback” hocus pocus.

That’s right, the planet is doing something because it always does & it is worth honest research..
But the assertion by the AGW proponents that the debate is over & the Science is settled & you’re an idiot if you don’t totally buy in is
    an Alinsky tactic.

Here in Kansas City the temperature on this day in 1960 was 0. Today it will be 50. Therefore by 2060 the high will be near 100. I’m pretty sure we’re all going to die. Of course in 1978 it was 80, so that might fuck up my graph.

Erm… if my experience in Sweden is anything like Germany then he’s talking out of his patoot. English-language books are no more expensive than native language books in most european countries, especially the germanies. The demand is huge enough to justify bulk import and consequently prices are usually the same. That said, books are quite expensive in Germany regardless of their language.

Just thought I’d mention this. :)

Likewise, English language books in the Far East are the same price as they are at home. You can buy Penguin classics of War and Peace and Les Miserables for a few bucks each. Cato is, in the words of Gorilla Monsoon, a font of misinformation.

It is strange what a difference a few weeks can make. One would have thought that if there was such a thing as “safe lizard”, it would have been Sharm and Irish Rose. Yet in the space of a couple of weeks both have walked away, one undoubtedly has been banned and blocked.

I’ve said on more than one occasion at this blog that it doesn’t matter how close or favored a member is at LGF, Johnson will ban any one of them because he has zero loyalty.

That includes Sharmuta, WIR, Killgore, and whomever else is viewed as being a teacher’s pet.

And if they think that kissing Johnson’s behind and being loyal to him earns them immunity from being insulted, banned, or ridiculed by other Lizards or Johnson himself, they’re sadly mistaken about that, too.

Johnson would ban his own grandma from his blog if she posted something on it that he didn’t like.
