Don’t Worry, Kid. Just Drink The Koolaid

This is an Open Thread with a Possible Topic Suggestion:“Who is the biggest paranoid boob that comes to mind first?” “What’s the biggest lie you bought into that was proven false?”

Okay, I’ll start.

The “rich” get rich by exploiting the poor, and government’s primary function is to help those who cannot help themselves by taking money from the wealthy to provide for those less fortunate in life.  I bought into this false premise (concealed under the popular mantra of  “Social Justice”) as a naive young tad growing up in the 1960s before I learned basic economics twenty years later.

    Hi.

I have been on this blog almost every single day since around 2002-2003. I have always been amazed at how to-the-point, direct and informative the posts on Islamic terrorism and the state-of-the-world were. Thank you for this, Charles.

I have however removed LGF from my newsfeed about a year ago, and I think, for the better. When I returned today, just to check it out – it was exactly where I left it – posts on creationism, intravert posts on anti-LGF controversy, stories on Christians-are-bad-too (which you can always find but doesn’t prove anything).

I am sorry to have lost a great anti-islam blog. The rest is just not quite as good, and I miss it. Islam is the one single largest threat to freedom and welfare on this planet – a cause well worth informing about instead of cookoos on Fox or Palins hospital visits.

I would still like to thank Charles for all the great work on sifting through news sources and finding some of the best and interesting stories just not mentioned anywhere else. I will be back in a year to check for improvements.

Also, thanks to a great crowd of interesting, intelligent and inspiring commenters.

    Paging Dr. Kirly…
[GreatDane's goodbye was reposted from the previous thread.]

That American leaders in Washington D.C. would back my unit and I up when we went into the “peoples woods” in Vietnam. That and I did belive they would not allow a known traitor (Lt. for life John F. Kerry) to serve in our U.S. Senate.

CZ, I am not sure how to contact Gordon so I will respond here. He noted I commented only 126 times, but he was not aware (understandably that I had religiously read LGF and “spread the word about what a great blog it was–because of the brillance of the members. I truly am an Old Guy with no computer savy (hell, it wasn’t to long ago I learned how to cut and paste).
In any case I was banned because I told LGF/Charles in that in one of his blogs his people were over-reacting and his sight lost it’s humor, compassion and thoughtfulness.
I in the last year I stayed away from the blog noticing it was getting out of hand.
I believe I first read LGF in late 04 or early 05–referred there by a great republican–Andrew Sullivan, of course that was before the marriage issue. When that came up Sullivan lost it.
In any case, one comment, one banning. I forget issue but I believed the ship had really drifted from the pier–and comments were just Lord of the Flies gang tackling.
If someone can, please refer this to Gordon.

P.S. I don’t comment much cause I don’t know much! Took a long time to learn this!!

Charles is engineering his own demise if he doesn’t take everyone’s advice and go get an MRI soon: for a person to have such an abrupt change in personality (displayed on Boing Boing as clearly paranoia and revenge fantasy mixed into one), it can only be caused by a growing tumor in his brain.

Well, here’s one bit of good news, from our friends at Gallup:

Americans’ Global Warming Concerns Continue to Drop

Multiple indicators show less concern, more feelings that global warming is exaggerated

PRINCETON, NJ — Gallup’s annual update on Americans’ attitudes toward the environment shows a public that over the last two years has become less worried about the threat of global warming, less convinced that its effects are already happening, and more likely to believe that scientists themselves are uncertain about its occurrence. In response to one key question, 48% of Americans now believe that the seriousness of global warming is generally exaggerated, up from 41% in 2009 and 31% in 1997, when Gallup first asked the question.

I am having a bit of a problem with Russian Standard quality… The batch I bought a few days ago has a very harsh annoying taste. Not sure I will buy it again. I will try the more pricey Kalashnikov, but to be honest, the mid-range Polish such as Luksusowa were better… I am mad at the Russians, anyway. A two-state solution is entirely plausible, as long as either both states agree or one of the states is unpopulated.

Aside from that, Wrath, I’ve got an honest question. Why is there such a large percentage of Jews in the U.S. who align themselves with the Democrat Party?

    @ Bunk X:

A two-state (really a three state as the “palestinians” already have a state where they are the majority, it is called Jordan) solution is not plausible becuase creating a “Palestinian” state would accomplish nothing. Saying it is plausable if this or that is like saying that human beings flying without assistance is plausible if…. Both require a complete suspension of reality.

As for the second question the real answer is that I couldn’t tell you. Another answer is that you should read Norman Podhoretz (has a complete book about this), or Dennis Prager (who has an article).

My take is pretty much two-fold (1) History. Jews have mostly been abused by what is perceived as Conservative Governments and “rightists” politcal movements. The Jews who came to America came here escaping these governments and found refuge in the Liberal parties (2) Judaism is in many ways a Liberal religion. We have a large amount of peace, love, brotherhood, social justice, and the like. Although there are an equal amount of Conservative values, most of the non-orthodox (and majority) “streams” of Judaism in America rehash Judaism in a Liberal politics form (ie: they take liberal politics and teach them as Judaism. they are there but they are only 1/2 of the story). If you look into it, you will actually find that the Liberalism in Judaism is in relative to religiosity. The closer you come to Orthodoxy (ie: the more religous you are) the less Liberal politically you are.

SAN FRANCISCO — A federal appeals court in San Francisco upheld the use of the words “under God” in the Pledge of Allegiance and “In God We Trust” on U.S. currency, rejecting arguments on Thursday that the phrases violate the separation of church and state.

The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals panel rejected two legal challenges by Sacramento atheist Michael Newdow, who claimed the references to God disrespect his religious beliefs.

“The Pledge is constitutional,” Judge Carlos Bea wrote for the majority in the 2-1 ruling. “The Pledge of Allegiance serves to unite our vast nation through the proud recitation of some of the ideals upon which our Republic was founded.”

Actually I am shocked the 9TH CIRCUT upheld it? Whoda thunk?

Not really, if the NJ plant has half the security of San Onofre there is a security check point every 300 yards or so, nuclear facilities are damned difficult places to get around in. The actual containment facilities are a M’f'er to get in and out of, sneeze three times in a row and the next thing you know you’re 50 feet underground being anally probed by a pissed off doctor who would rather be out playing golf.

The gov fucks up everything it touches. Way too many people still believe this is about free health care. Even now obama calls it like it is, health care insurance reform. Just because there is a RE in front of “form” doesn’t mean it will be cheaper or better or free. Its really sad how so many people rather believe what they want to believe, even when there is no evidence of their belief.

As it is, there are plenty of clinics for people who don’t have money. Not the best care, but its available for a reasonable price. Here in New Orleans we have a hospital and some clinics for people without insurance. Seattle has quite a few low cost clinics and hospitals, I can’t imagine that other cities don’t have that.

I don’t trust this government at all. I believe they will require putting info chips in us and monitor substances that the gov believes is not healthy like salt, sugar, drugs etc…. we will end up like cattle.

Dodd ditches Corker on financial regs
Dodd (D-Conn.) announced on Thursday morning that he will unveil a bill on Monday without GOP support and he intends to bring it to a vote the following week

Democrats, however, do not need Corker to pass the bill. Earlier this week, Sen. Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) told HuffPost that once the bill was out of committee she looked forward to playing a central role in negotiations. She already joined Sens. Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.) and Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) in sending a letter to Dodd, calling for tough regulation of derivatives. Dodd’s decision to move forward without Republican support in the committee opens the door for Snowe, who’s more moderate than Corker and Shelby, to step in

If I were in charge, dump this pile of manure and get a commission together, no pols lobbyists or hacks, I know good luck. Anyway, get these people together to brainstorm and problem solve, present recommendations to the states, where this belongs, if anywhere at all.

Indonesia is where Barry got down with the Koran, but for some reason they don’t particularly like him.

    Hi lopps!

    Hi there, VT!

I’d love it if it was cancelled completely. WTH are we going to gain from him visiting Indonesia? What happened to his laser-like focus on jobs?

It felt good. I was compensated nearly twice as much as my friends who could only muster up to the grill or service counter at McDonalds.

I’m half-tempted to vote for Altmire over Mary-Beth Bongcannon, slayer of folk hero Wecht, and the other guy (Rothrock?)

I catch heat for my opinion, but it gotta look at reality.

    @ Scott Madsen:

Not to one up you, but I played for two high school teams growing up. My summers began on a veggiefarm in Butler picking LOTS of strawberries After that we planted corn with me laying on the planter to make sure that the early corn was covered with plastic. Beans came in about then. Afters that I busied myself tying up and pruning a grape orchard. THEN potatoes were planted withan antique planters which afterwards we would have to go back and reburied to 50% of the potatoes that didn;t bury. (Did IMention how awful potato pesticiders smell) About this time the corn would ripen and we would go out in crews of four with an AGWAY 120 lb. grain sack tied at each end with a golf ball/walnut to strap to our shoulder ans dump the corn into pickups to take to stores/markets (not us, too much corn left to pull)
Once sweet corn was out we had rye growing in hte fields in place after being rotovated. The rye was then bailed an stacked. It ws now time to transplant tomatoes and peppers. At this point it became dry, and we only had one irrigatio pond with 4 inch transmission and three inch transmission. Changed every morning, before the sun. It wa also about this time the field corn pumpkins, gourds,a nd grapevines for wreaths were getting into season. Pumkins were actually great for the y helped with upper body strength right as hockey seasson began.

I started in 1989 at 2.75 an hour.

IT’S MY HOPE THAT SOMEONE READS THIS AND THANKS GOD WHERE THEY ARE!

Any law passed requiring mandatory seatbelt usage will NEVER be used as a reason by Police to pull you over simply to check whether you are wearing your seat belts!
