The Panic Room, Beware of the Jihadi Art Critic!

Submitted 11MAR2010

With all of the coverage of Jihad Jane, I went looking for the ‘offending art’ that caused this murder plot and fatwas and rewards for the murder of Lars Vilks. Vilks did some drawings of dogs with ‘the Prophet’ Mohamed’s head on them. Apparently, in Sweden they put metal art dogs in the grassy bit in the middle of the roundabout to spruce the joint up, here is wiki’s entry for ’roundabout dogs’ . The Roundabout Dogs even have their own website! Here are some of Lars Vilks’ drawings of his roundabout dogs, for your artistic enjoyment:

Well, these drawings got the Jihadi art world, yet again, all in a tizzie of loud barking of fatwas, death threats, and SEETHING! The seething has become so intense that a new trend among the European Aritists has started.  This trend can be traced all the way back to Mr Rushdie. The Artists who are critiqued and followed by the Jihadi art crowd are building Panic Rooms. I guess those Jihadi art critics just love to track down and hound their artists all hours of the day and night! And it looks like some of the editors and reporters in Swedish papers want to get in on this latest art world trend trend as well. This editorial will fetch a lot of attention from the Jihadi art crowd.

Following alleged plot to murder artist who drew cartoon depicting Prophet Muhammad with body of a dog, Swedish newspapers publish it to take stance for freedom of speech. ‘A threat against him is, in the long term, also a threat against all Swedes,’ one paper says

Look for ‘Panic Room Monthly’ magazine in a shop near you! I would recommend some  furnishings from the Kalashnikov Line and Colt Collection guys. They work with any decor, even Ikea!

Of course there are other works that the Jihadi art crowd has strained at the leash over, Salman Rushdie and Kurt Westergaard come to mind immediately. Artists in America don’t have such friendly and loyal followers or the opportunity to have their very own Panic Room; all that  Andres Serrano got for his ‘Piss Christ’ was a debate over funding by the National Endowment of the Arts, some art reviews, and a few angry protesters. Perhaps if Serrano tries a little harder and does some edgy Mo art, he too can have his very own pack of Jihadi art critics pawing at his door to see his brand new Panic Room!

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s wife and daughter were being treated in a hospital Thursday for serious injuries they sustained when their vehicle was rear-ended by a truck, a spokesman said.

Reid’s wife, Landra, 69, broke her back and neck in the accident, Reid spokesman Jim Manley said.

She and the couple’s adult daughter, Lana, were being treated at Inova Fairfax Hospital in suburban Virginia. Neither woman’s injuries appeared to be life-threatening, Manley said.

“While driving on a Washington, D.C., highway, their vehicle was rear-ended by a semi-truck,” Manley said in a statement.

“Mrs. Reid has a broken nose, broken back and broken neck. Lana has a neck injury and facial lacerations. Both Mrs. Reid and Lana are conscious, can feel their extremities, and according to doctors their injuries are non-life threatening,” Manley said. “Sen. Reid has been to the hospital and appreciates the support he and his family are receiving from Nevadans and his colleagues in the Senate.”

Reid later returned to Capitol Hill, where he was meeting with White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel on efforts to pass health care legislation.

Reid, 70, met Landra while they both were attending Basic High School in Henderson, Nev. They were married in 1959. Lana was born two years later, followed by four boys: Rory, Leif, Josh and Key

    Hope their alright

His wife’s 69. Probably doesn’t even have a job. Is it really cost-effective to do all those expensive surgeries on her? I’m sure some pain-killers would be cheaper, as Obama suggested once.

    This is good news:

    House passes Firearms Freedom Act

The House overwhelmingly passed legislation Tuesday asserting that firearms made, sold and kept in Wyoming are exempt from federal gun control regulations.

House Bill 95, the Firearms Freedom Act, passed 53-5. The legislation now goes to the Senate, where Senate Majority Leader Jim Anderson, R-Glenrock, said the bill stands a good chance of passing.

Gov. Dave Freudenthal told reporters last week that he is “not uncomfortable” with the legislation.

Similar legislation has also been introduced in 14 other states during the past year and enacted into law in Tennessee and Montana. Gun advocates in Montana have filed suit against the federal government to test the law.

Wyoming’s Firearms Freedom Act, though, would be harsher than those bills, as it states that any state or federal official who attempts to enforce any federal gun law on a firearm made and sold in Wyoming could face a $2,000 fine and up to a year in prison.

Wow! That’ll be something if it passes the Senate, too. At least on the gun control front things are going fairly well. I’d still like to see part or all of the NFA repealed or declared unconstitutional and the ’68 GCA, but I’ll take every bit of progress we can get.

  41. 42 | March 11, 2010 16:53

    @ Iron Fist:

You know, I don’t really understand what the Anti-gun crowd is so afraid of. Their claims are all based on “what ifs” and “this coulds”, but even those arguments don’t make sense because those things aren’t happening today.

They can claim that if everyone were allowed fully automatic rifles there would be military grade shoot outs all over the place, but the fact is that many people already own these weapons and the shoot outs aren’t happening.

It doesn’t surprise me that the big government Democrats are the ones mostly pushing to remove this Constitutional right as only they would be threatened by it because only they have this desire to control everything the citizen does and thus would be threatened by a citizenry that could actually fight back.

Speaking of which, I’m going shooting this weekend.

  42. 43 | March 11, 2010 17:01

    @ WrathofG-d:

You are right. On the flip side, you can look at what abattoirs the cities around the country with the strictest gun laws are, Chicago and DC right there at the top. That doesn’t mean gun control causes murder, but it is pretty good evidence that it doesn’t stop murder. If it doesn’t reduce crime, why have it? Lots of law enforcement people agree with me on that, at least around here. In 1994 I helped organize a rally in Nashville against the “Assault Rifle” ban, and fully half of our speakers were law enforcement officers.

Have fun shooting. That is another side of it that Liberals just don’t get. Shooting is fun!

After being shunned by scores of colleges across the country for more than 40 years, the U.S. Army’s ROTC program is making a comeback.

Roughly 32,000 cadets are currently enrolled in the Reserve Officer Training Corps on the university level — a modest, yet notable, increase from previous years, says Lt. Col. Michael Indovina, chief public affairs officer with the U.S. Army Cadet Command. He said the program had 30,721 cadets a year ago and 28,489 the year before.

The Muslim Jesus they call Isa never was on a cross nor crucified so the piss Christ actually pleases them. The Muslims are in the “in crowd” who believe[ or choose to believe] that the piss Christ was actually an Isa look-a-like. allah out-schemed the disciples* who were ‘evil’ men against allah for believing their teacher, Jesus, was the Son of the G-d of Abraham. The scheme has allah sneaking Jesus away and putting an imposter in his place. The Muslims hold up the disciples* as prime examples of what infidels are.

Matthew 10:2-4 2 These are the names of the twelve apostles: first, Simon (who is called Peter) and his brother Andrew; James son of Zebedee, and his brother John; 3 Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; 4 Simon the Zealot and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.

As a Christian I do it out of respect of Judaism being the trunk and root of G-d’s olive tree and the revelations from Y-H-W-H (Torah) to the Jews first. It also is a gentle reminder to myself to remember and be careful with the translations to our own vernacular. G-d’s name is immutable and language is mutable. I’m one who believes all of G-d’s Covenants are active and steadfast till the temporal end of the universe.

Some people might think it’s a good thing to take stands based on principle even if it’s unpopular, instead of prostituting oneself to pump up traffic. But those would be the people we call “normal.”

I’ve never done anything at LGF just to increase my traffic. The opinions I express are the opinions I believe. I could not possibly care less whether my traffic goes up or down by a few points as a result, and the fact is that LGF is still pulling in better traffic than most blogs.

Boing Boing linked to the Dangerous Minds interview, and guess what happened in their thread? Yep. More stalkers.

Guess who’s stalking the BoingBoing thread?

    @ snork:

No shit. It’s set to allow 5 links. Those have one or two. Even with the anchor to reply it should have allowed them.

He is probably demanding Boingboing hand over IP numbers on all the commenters. He can compare them against his master list or tool or whatever, then make a post on how they send him threatening emails. LOL he is very predictable.

There are a couple items of importance about “Piss Christ”, imploder, that I’d like to note here:

#1. Nobody really knows what Jesus actually looked like (unlike Mohammad). For Jesus, it wasn’t important to Him that the world record what His facial features were as much as what His moral features were. Such is the Spirit of Christ: spiritual substance over self-serving ego (an example to us all, really!).

#2. Jesus really *IS* God: He is a big boy and He can fight His own battles. If Jesus really is offended by this ‘art’, so much so that He feels it merits punishment…well, then…as God, He is powerful enough to administer that punishment. Those who follow Him don’t have to do a thing to defend His ‘honor’. His honor is something He defends.

#3. Jesus ALREADY said/showed and demonstrated how He deals with enemies and those who insult you: forgive them. I know, I know…it’s not very ‘attractive’ to the world in general, but it is His direct command (Matthew 5:44)

#4. When you kill people who have ‘insulted Christ’, you don’t leave a way for them to repent, and accept Jesus in the future. Kind of slams the door shut pretty hard. Counter-productive, too, when you consider Jesus’ mission and His stated goal.
His true followers let His words ring in their ears….

#5. Jesus’ Kingdom is not of this world. So why fight here for His honor? Jesus Himself said He had nothing in the world and the world has nothing in Him. Based upon His explicit statement, seems like a moot point and a waste of time to fight with people over this kind of supposed attack of Jesus’ honor.

Those are just a couple thoughts off the top of my head. I’m sure others could post more reasons why the true followers of Jesus would do nothing in response to this kind of ‘art’ and (ironically) why those who DON’T really know Him, would.

    @ jimash:
It is done as a sign of Honor, Respect and reverence, jimash. It is mostly done by the Jews, but some others have taken on the custom, as well. At one point in time, the Jews knew the actual name of God, but thought it too Holy of a thing to write or say, so they simply left out the vowels. Today, the actual pronunciation of His name is lost to time, but the consonants that it was made up of, remain. This same type of tradition is now employed by the Jews when they now write the word “God” in English: since God (The true and living God of the New & Old Testament) really *is* God, it is deemed a sign of respect, honor and love to exclude the vowel….

    @ mjazz:

IIRC, yes. About $15,000. It isn’t a lot of money (but I sure could use fifteen grand right about now), but why should we pay for offensive art? Guess what? NEA grants are peer reviewed, too. Just like the CRU data. Peer review is bunk. Do we let the Hell’s Angels “peer review” other bikers by sitting on their juries? It seems to me “peer review” is an “I scratch your back, you scratch mine” racket. Nothing more. Certainly not some “sacred trust” that the serfs should have faith in over more honest rackets like biker gangs or the Mafia.
