Lone Jewish High School Student Faces Down Arab Mob in LA

A loud and angry mob of pro-Arab demonstrators outside the Israeli consulate in Los Angeles on Tuesday became even more enraged when one, lone Jewish high school student with a yarmulke and a large Israeli flag marched fearlessly alongside them.

The young man seemed to be unmoved by the angry curses hurled at him by the American-Arab crowd. Though protected by a line of policemen, it appeared he could be attacked at any moment.

Reporters asked him afterwards about his unusual presence, and he explained, “I came out because I want to defend Israel…They (the soldiers attempting to divert the flotilla ships) were attacked, and they had the right to defend [themselves]. These people [on the boats] were not humanitarians; their ship was armed with knives, batons, and all kinds of things to attack the Israelis with. There is a naval blockade on Gaza, and they [the soldiers] were just doing their job of enforcing it… Hamas is a terrorist organization trying to kill Israelis.”

Asked if he is affiliated with any group, he said, “Just Judaism and Israel, that’s it.”

Asked about the Bible and the Jewish presence in the Land of Israel since the times of King Solomon, he lowered his voice and said, “I don’t know about that.”

Oh that asshole knew alright, that’s why he lowered his voice, because he knew he was lying through his teeth…

Israel has attempted to deliver humanitarian aid from an international flotilla to Gaza, but Hamas — which controls the territory — has refused to accept the cargo, the Israel Defense Forces said Wednesday.
Palestinian sources confirmed that trucks that arrived from Israel at the Rafah terminal at the Israel-Gaza border were barred from delivering the aid.
Ra’ed Fatooh, in charge of the crossings, and Jamal Khudari, head of a committee against the Gaza blockade, said Israel must release all flotilla detainees and that it will be accepted in the territory only by the Free Gaza Movement people who organized the flotilla.
Israel said it had 20 trucks of aid found on the ships, such as expired medications, clothing, blankets, some medical equipment and toys.

Cameron told lawmakers in the House of Commons that the blockade “just strengthens Hamas’ grip on Gaza” and should be lifted. He criticized the raid on the Gaza-bound ships, which left nine people dead, saying: “What has happened is completely unacceptable.” (AP

Another Arab-speaking American explained, “The only reason Israel is doing this is because they got kicked out from, uh, the German whatever, whatever happened to them. So they’re trying to take out their anger to someone else.” Asked about the Bible and the Jewish presence in the Land of Israel since the times of King Solomon, he lowered his voice and said, “I don’t know about that.”

The debate over gays in the military has driven an extraordinary public wedge between the nation’s highest-ranking military officer and the four service chiefs who collectively make up the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Adm. Mike Mullen, Joint Chiefs chairman, in February first broke with the chiefs of the Navy, Air Force, Army and Marine Corps by endorsing President Obama’s campaign pledge to end the military’s ban on open homosexuals.

The gap widened last week. Adm. Mullen approved a White House deal for Congress to go ahead with a vote on repeal of the law barring openly gay members from the military, rather than waiting for completion in December of a Pentagon study that is seeking the views of troops. Adm. Mullen’s move brought an instant rebuttal from the four chiefs in the form of letters to Congress urging lawmakers not to hold the vote.

In fact, the service chiefs did not see the Pentagon-White House-congressional deal to rush a vote until after the administration announced it May 24, Pentagon officials said.

And it’s only like we are fighting a War guys????

The last time I had an encounter with jehovies was in about 1975. It was 9:00 Saturday morning after an all night poker game. I had just gone to bed and hadn’t shoveled out the empty beer cans. I answered the door in my drawers, a little bleery, and the JW’s introduced themselves. I replied that I was a devout Presbyterian and wasn’t interested. I guess my reputation has preceded me as I haven’t heard from them since.

  109. 111 | June 2, 2010 3:12 pm

There is an emerging smugness on the part of anti-Israel pundits based on the fact that no weapons were found in the “aid” containers. They think that this is evidence proving Israeli disproportionality of response both in boarding the ship and in continuing the blockade.

The Israelis -- and the world -- assumed there would be no weapons aboard. The organizers of the publicity stunt who prepared for and expected boarding by the Israelis would never have compromised their mission by actually smuggling weapons. The ship itself was a weapon: a PR weapon, and if it had succeeding in landing in Gaza, a rocket breaching the blockade.

The whole point of a blockade is to prevent all ships from running it, in the knowledge that some will carry arms. The blockade gives the power to Israel to interdict all ships.

Glad that Netanyahu will keep the blockade.

Waiting for him to tell Turkey that any Turkish navy ship escorting aid flotillas, or any ship under Turkish flag attempting to run the blockade will be taken as an Act of War by Turkey against Israel.

American administration reiterates disappointment over Israeli takeover of Gaza-bound ship. White House spokesman tells press US determined to get goods to civilians in Gaza

    Published: 06.02.10, 21:53 / Israel News
WASHINGTON -- International criticism over the deadly takeover of the Gaza-bound flotilla continues, as does the cold breeze from Washington. White House spokesman Bill Burton on Wednesday addressed the Israel Defense Forces’ raid on a ship containing activists headed for the Strip’s shores, and said the it is most important to President Obama that such incidents do not occur in the future.

Netanyahu defends raid on Gaza-bound flotilla in special speech, says if siege on Strip had been broken, hundreds more ships would arrive. ‘There is an Iranian port in Gaza, which threatens Europe, other countries’

At a press briefing on the presidential airplane, Burton emphasized that his country is in constant contact with Israel and that it is committed to the Jewish state’s security. However, he stressed that Washington is determined to transfer aid to the civilians in Gaza.

    And so it begins again

And given Barry’s apparent support for Islam it wouldn’t surprise me one whit if he does activate the mutual defense clauses of the NATO agreements if Turkey attacks Israel, at least with regards to US military support.

A flat-out lie; Israel offered in advance of the flotilla that it would deliver the goods—subject to inspection—and announced its intention to do this afterwards also.

    More From STRATFOR

    WEDNESDAY, JUNE 2, 2010 STRATFOR.COM Diary Archives
Turkey and Israel Fight for U.S. Support
    T
UESDAY WAS ALL ABOUT THE INTERNATIONAL FALLOUT from Israel’s move to raid the Turkish-led aid ship trying to circumvent the blockade of the Gaza Strip, which left 9 people dead (mostly Turkish nationals) and scores of others injured. In a speech before Turkey’s parliament, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan warned Israel not to test Turkey’s patience, adding that the state did not want his country as an enemy. Elsewhere, the head of Israeli intelligence said in a briefing to the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee that Israel’s strategic worth in the eyes of the United States was increasingly on the decline.

After deciding to forcibly bring an end to the Turkish flotilla saga, Israel finds itself in a major bind. They have much of the international community condemning them for the action, and there are growing calls that Israel end the blockade of the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip. At the same time, additional flotillas are being organized, which will only exacerbate matters, especially since Israel has said —international condemnation notwithstanding — it will not end the blockade.

“After deciding to forcibly bring an end to the Turkish flotilla saga, Israel finds itself in a major bind.”

From Israel’s point of view, ending the blockade directly undermines the state’s national security. A Gaza with free access to the outside world does not simply mean relatively improved economic conditions for its inhabitants. It also translates into Hamas and its Islamist militant allies gaining a freer hand to try to acquire weapons, which would be used against Israel.

From Turkey’s point of view, it is no longer content being Israel’s only Muslim ally. Indeed, Turkey has moved beyond being a pro-Western state to one on the path of becoming a great independent power. And its path to regional player status involves assuming an aggressive stance toward Israel, which can help it gain the leadership of the Arab Middle East and the wider Islamic world.

Ankara’s encouragement of the flotilla is very much in keeping with this objective. While the Turks have been successful at creating an international uproar against Israel, they have yet to demonstrate that they can force the Israeli hand. Not having a whole lot of options, Turkey is looking to align itself with the United States against Israel — something Washington has hesitated to do thus far.

While the United States will not even consider the Turkish proposition, it is not exactly endorsing Israel’s position. Even so, there is a strong possibility that the United States could prefer Turkey to Israel in the future since it needs Turkey’s help in extricating itself from the complexities of the region. Which brings us back to the warning from Mossad chief Meir Dagan, who said Israel “is gradually turning from an asset to the United States to a burden.” Currently, the United States needs Turkey more than it needs Israel.

While STRATFOR has been pointing out the emerging divergence in U.S. and Israeli interests for quite some time now, this is the first time Israel has acknowledged that its great power patron has a diminishing need for it. Though historically Israel has never faced a challenge from any of its neighboring states, the threat has come from powers outside its immediate region, which is where the great power patron has come in handy. That its traditional ally, the United States, has a need to align with Turkey, a rising regional power and potential adversary to Israel, would explain the statements of the Israeli intelligence chief, which underscore the massive national security debate currently under way in the country.

Next ship to run the blockade:-

Ensnare its propellers in rope and netting.Board it using non lethal munitions. Embark the crew into the lifeboats.
Open the seacocks and let the ship sink. Go home!

As it was an Ann Coulter t shirt instead of an Iraeli flag, I admit I was trying to be somewhat humorous; however, none of the group I was supposed to meet was able to meet with me (I could not locate them) and I was pretty pretty scared at some of the threats I got.
