Well, I don’t guess I’ll be going to see Inception. It looks kind of good, especially when the dude pulls out the 40mm revolving gernade launcher (I don’t recall the model; they aren’t issued to the military yet) and says “Dream bigger”. I am, in a sense, sad for these people; they have decided to construct a complete fantasyland for themselves with the Xes, Kwanzaa, the “Shabazz” name, the “mad scientist Yakub,” etc., because they feel they do not have a history.
Yet, every American black descended from slaves has a history in this country that goes back at least to 1808, when importation from Africa stopped, if not long before. That means that the meanest among them has two hundred and two years of history as Americans, longer than that of many other more recent arrivals. It is a history of stunning achievement, in some cases; in others, mere survival and perseverance in the face of adversity, which is also a noble achievement. Yet they refuse to own this genuine history, well worthy of pride, in favor of diving into fantasyland.

There real history doesn’t tell them that they are Superior Beings being held down by the Man™. These people are mostly a bunch of losers. It is much easier to accept failuer when it is someone else’s fault. Accepting their true history, honorable though it is, would mean that they would have to accept responsibility for their own failures. Slavery ended in 1865, legal discrimination ended about 100 years later. Most of these people are also under 45, so they can’t really blame any of their failures on others. Thus, they retreat into fantasy as a way of salvaging their ego. Much as Barack Hussein Obama hides from his ancestry through fantasies about his superiority.
