Eeeew… Oh Wait. Nevermind.

Whoa. Full moon? That scared me the first time I saw it, but not to worry. Actually I wasn’t going to post it here, except Savage’s Girl brought up the topic in an odd but innocuous email –it had to do with goats and massages and guys with hairy backs, and I’ll not describe it further.  Y’all can pester her yourselves for the details on an Overnight Open Thread.

    Hello everyone.
I haven’t really posted here before although i have been a member since 2008. That was a pretty big deal for me…to catch the registration and get in.
I hope i don’t offend everyone but i am sort of curious as to what has happened here. LGF was my “go to” site back then but now i feel somewhat lost when i stop by. For example, it seems there is a fair amount of incompetence regarding the oil spill and yet i almost never see anything written about it. (apologies if i have missed it) Mostly the posts seem to be about the dreaded tea party folks or other right wingers. Did i miss something? I feel like a stranger here sometimes…again, it is not my intention to offend. I just really don’t understand the changes..I feel a little like i have whiplash sometimes… i really don’t understand.

I was watching some movie trailers this evening and saw one for this anti-nuke weapon movie. They want to strive for zero nuclear weapons. I was just wondering… How do you “un-invent” something?

I mean, the technology is already out there and everyone who has the materials and the right physics can build one. I know building a small one is the tough part but you can do just as much damage with the big one…

The guy from nowhere that we’ve never seen before who comes in and complains very earnestly about how we need to focus more on the left despite months and months of LGF blog posts detailing with excruciating clarity exactly how horrible and twisted the right wing has become, is pretty much a standard thing. There’s many many many who do exactly as you have done.

    And they never stick around.

Maybe the “GUY” from nowhere doesn’t stick around because some of you aren’t very welcoming. I really don’t come from nowhere. it is just that i have a very busy life and rarely have time to read comments. tonight i had time and thought i would give it a try. When I joined, a little over a year ago, it was during the “great changeover” in a manner of speaking. I joined precisely b/c of Charles’ speaking out against the wingnut right. But b/c I pretty early on was quite open about being Christian, and an evangelical at that, I think there was some hesitancy about whether I might flounce over the creationism threads or the gay issue. But since i accept evolutionary biology with no problem (always have really), and accept equality as an American ideal, no matter who you are, black/white, gay/straight, whatever, I’ve become a lizard in good standing.

Trust is earned, not given easily.

Charles has been burned by those who say they’re on his side, when in fact they’ve got an agenda that is more important to them than being a good lizard. Do I have views that diverge from other lizards? Of course I do. Do I have views that differ from Charles? Again, of course I do. The issue is one of not giving in to conspiracy theories or hatred of anything “other” than myself. This venue, Little Green Footballs, is one of the few that I’ve seen where I’ve felt like I can speak my mind freely, knowing I might be disagreed with, but also knowing that I’ll be listened to, as long as I listen too. That’s what makes this site so unique in my mind. Needless to say, I love it and am glad to be a part of this diverse conversation. And with that, I really am heading over the range. See y’all later.

To some of you who complained about my Pat Condell post on the previous thread: I know all about his hatred of religion, but that wasn’t a consideration for what I posted.
I’m Catholic, and I know he hates those in the church who allowed the abuse of young boys to go on, even when they were well aware of it. I despise them also.
But he is entitled to speak his mind. If you don’t like it, don’t listen. And when it comes to anything other than islam, I don’t give a rat’s ass what he thinks.
But he is spot-on correct about how islam is hoping that weakness and political correctness will allow their gutter religion to dominate the world.
But I can promise you this. It will NOT happen here, not for a long time.

I also see that CJ is posting Daily Show links without irony or criticism and, dare I say, approval. And then there is the Pamela Geller thread complete with an unflattering freeze frame of her face from a video. Some BP bashing threads, a couple of Onion parody threads, etc.

I was living on the lower east side of Manhattan on 9/11 and discovered LGF in the months that followed and the voices there (many of you are here now) gave me solace helped me to make sense of what happened. What the fuck happened to that place?

If you are using Windows XP with a DSL modem without a router, you can click on ‘start’ then ‘run’ and type in “cmd”. Type “ipconfig /release” hit enter, then type in “ipconfig /renew” to assign a new TCP/IP address. Type “exit” to close the cmd window.

That’s OK as long as it is not a wireless router, pushing the reset button on a wireless router resets passwords and security settings also. Most routers and modems use a special address that you type into a browser address link to access them. For instance, for a Motorola modem it usually is 192.168.1.254, for a Belkin router it usually is 192.168.2.1. From there you can reset the TCP/IP address with out losing all your settings. If you type “ipconfig” in the ‘cmd’ window the address for your ‘Default gateway’ is the address of your router. Once you access your router, the ‘default gateway’ for your ‘internet settings’ in the router is the address for your modem. Confused yet?

One more aside on LGF. I haven’t even looked at the site for months until tonight. I was shocked to see how many ads are being displayed.

If the left claw is not moving, what it is attached to is either not moving or being moved.

The camera is on the robot.

yeah, that dispersant thing has been important for weeks. They have at least one robot squirting dispersant into the oil flow all the time down there.

They used to have one robot providing a dedicated video feed like that asshole congressman demanded and one day bp got smart. Instead of dedicating a robot to just transmit pictures they streamed the feed from all of them down there. It freed up one robot that could now work.
