Luscious, Tempting and Appealing.

“Guys! Check it out! Babs just showed up with a Tootsie Roll and she’s chewing it! Dump your skanky dates, you’re missing the best part! Man oh man, look at her go!”

True Fact: Tootsie Roll, see, is the life of every party… for wherever Young America gathers… Its popularity is acclaimed by all.

Acclaimed by all 13 dweebs in the advert, that is. The next best thing, besides watching Babs seductively remove her fillings with a chewy brown phallus-shaped wad of sugar, corn syrup, partially hydrogenated soybean oil, condensed milk, cocoa, whey, soy lecithin, orange extract, and artificial and condensed flavors, is an Overnight Open Thread.

    Has anyone heard about this?

Complaint Filed Against Kagan at Supreme Court

WASHINGTON, July 30 /Christian Newswire/ — Larry Klayman, the founder of corruption watchdog Judicial Watch and now Freedom Watch public interest law groups, has filed a complaint before the U.S. Supreme Court at the behest of pro-life organization Declaration Alliance, asking that the high court disbar Elena Kagan.

Kagan, while she was an Associate White House Counsel in the Clinton administration, falsified an expert medical report, prepared by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG). In this report, ACOG had originally found that partial birth abortion was in fact not medically necessary to save the life of a woman, but Kagan changed the report’s finding to say that it was an appropriate procedure under some circumstances. This altered report was then relied upon by the U.S. Supreme Court in striking down legislation banning partial birth abortion.
In filing the complaint, Klayman issued the following statement:

“Elena Kagan, a nominee to the U.S. Supreme Court, has defrauded the U.S. Supreme Court. As a result, her membership to practice before the Court should be revoked and the matter referred to the Criminal Division of the Justice Department. How, then can Ms. Kagan be confirmed by the U.S. Senate for a seat on the high court, when in reality she should not even be allowed to practice in front of it?
“The rules of legal ethics require her disbarment and I intend to pursue it, to set an example that prospective and sitting judges, or anyone in the legal profession or otherwise, are not above the law.”

I made home-made ice cream sandwiches!

It was a recipe in my latest cooking magazine -

    Chocolate Cherry Ice Cream Sandwiches

I made the chocolate chocolate chip cookie from scratch and then used Tillamook’s Oregon Black Cherry Ice Cream for the filling. Then I rolled them in mini chocolate chips (semi-sweet) and they are in the freezer as we speak.

I had an extra one so I used Ben & Jerry’s Cherry Garcia in that one… that one’s mine…

That is really sad. That people lose their mooring so easily out of a desperate need to belong. They obediently follow any whim of their cult leader. If cluckie decided to go conservative again, these pathetic sheeple would prance along down that path, bleating and mewing approval.

Actually, Possum, you muffed the Bible quote. It’s the Golden Rule, BTW. It’s generally rendered as: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

Not that I mind a little tit-for-tat with respect to the outings, but you simply cannot justify it with that particular Bible cite.

    @ Alberta Oil Peon:

Actually, Possum, you muffed the Bible quote. It’s the Golden Rule, BTW. It’s generally rendered as: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

Not that I mind a little tit-for-tat with respect to the outings, but you simply cannot justify it with that particular Bible cite.

Well… as months ago I declared myself as a non-believer in those type of things and got ripped a new asshole in here and was told I was right up there with Hitler and Mao and Stalin and some other famous people I got pretty close with the quote didn’t I!

    (BenZack ripped me that one.)

Yes it did. The disaster is a disaster but it is not what people have been told. The panic and the hatred aimed at BP has cost more money and jobs than the oil spill ever did.

Notice the new gusher is getting no media attention. A spill from a 4 inch pipe that is shooting oil 100ft into the air is minor. 33 barrels a day. Not 32, not 34 but 33.

    BP did good.

The oil spill cleanup thing of $1.3 billion is bullshit too.

There was in theory a plan. Funds, procedures. and when it happened then there was nothing.

To document this disaster there is much to discuss. It can be narrowed down to a few harsh facts.

The Dutch skimmers. The delay in deploying them due to the fact the American crews had to be trained.

Now, I am all for protecting American jobs but… the Dutch crews were not taking away American jobs. If there were American boats that could do the job then let them do it. There were none.

    OK… http://globalwarming.house.gov/mediacenter/pressreleases_2008?id=0245

    You got that “Globalwarming”

Markey to Get Live Feed of BP Oil Spill on Website

BP Acquiesces to Markey’s Request, Will Release Video Stream Tonight to Chairman
May 19, 2010 – Following a demand from Rep. Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.) for a live feed of the BP oil spill to be made publicly available on the web, BP said they would release the feed and it will be shown on Rep. Markey’s committee website at http://www.globalwarming.house.gov. The release of the live link to Rep. Markey is expected tonight.

“This may be BP’s footage, but it’s America’s ocean. Now anyone will be able to see the real-time effects the BP spill is having on our ocean,” said Rep. Markey, who conducted a briefing today with independent scientists where he reiterated the call for a video feed. “This footage will aid analysis by independent scientists blocked by BP from coming to see the spill.”

Markey sent letters earlier today to BP America’s CEO Lamar McKay asking for the footage to be made public on BP’s website. If BP could not host the footage, Rep. Markey offered to host it on his website free of charge.

“BP is going to have to pay for the cleanup of this spill and the long-term damage. Hosting this video on our website is the only freebie they’re going to get,” Rep. Markey said.

The letter sent to McKay today can be found here.

Rep. Markey has frequently queried BP for more information on the exact size of the spill and on their refusal to engage with outside scientists. Independent scientists have examined video, satellite photos and other aspects of the spill and determined that it may be much bigger than estimated. Today at a briefing Rep. Markey held in his Energy and Environment Subcommittee, independent scientists from Purdue University and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution said that the estimate of a 5,000 barrel per day leak was an underestimation of the flow. The scientists said with more data, they could better calculate the flow of oil from the sea floor.

“This is 4th grade math. We know the numerator here—the couple thousand barrels a day BP is siphoning out of the sunken pipe. But we still don’t know the denominator,” said Rep. Markey. “BP is capturing a fraction of the oil, but they don’t know what that fraction is. By releasing this video, we’ve taken the first step towards allowing better access to the information BP has about this spill.”

Several days later BP streamed all the ROV cams and created a cult following… :)

Western prosperity and way of life is based upon oil and natural gas. There is almost nothing widely produced and consumed which can not be measured in the amount of oil required to produce, transport and store it.
The whole idea of the $75 million statutory limit to liability is to encourage large companies to conduct oil and gas exploration in the US. They naturally fear this litigious society, but they have the security of knowing there is the rule of law. The chance to be heard in court and plead one’s case.
With the unprecedented spectacle of a US President making direct attacks on a multi-national corporation, and the bizarre occurrence of an executive action to waive due process, set aside a statutory limit, and essentially nationalise a company by demanding a ransom of $20 billion; any corporation seeking to do business in the USA will know that America is only one election away from a Banana Republic.

    That’s threadworthy…
