Obama Boom leads to a loss of 131,000 jobs in July

The greatest economic comeback in all history of humanity continues full steam ahead. The much heralded Obama Economic Boom continues. This dynamic economic comeback has lead to a loss of 131,000 jobs in July. The losses are attributed to the census workers being laid off and local government layoffs.  Private sector jobs grew by an anemic 71,000, a number not enough to keep up with population growth. The unemployment rate stayed steady at 9.5, but that is because people stopped looking for work.

The Labor Department said Friday that nonfarm payrolls fell by a remarkable 131,000 last month, about double what economists were expecting. Private hiring was anemic; corporate America added 71,000 positions in July, about 20,000 fewer than anticipated and further evidence that, while profits are relatively robust, companies are reluctant to hire. That reluctance likely stems from the uncertain regulatory environment and concerns about higher taxes next year.  The government’s payroll fell by 202,000 as temporary Census workers were let go.

What’s more, last month’s weak report now looks even worse, with the Labor Department revising that figure to a loss of 221,000 jobs from the originally reported 125,000.

The unemployment rate held steady at 9.5%. Ironically, while economists had anticipated that number would rise to 9.6%, it’s not necessarily good news that it didn’t. As more would-be workers become discouraged about their bleak prospects for employment, they simply drop out of the hunt, and fewer people classified as looking for work has the effect of keeping a lid on the overall unemployment rate.

The report also showed that 45% of those without a job, 6.6 million people, have been out of work for more than six months.

The Obama Boom is a lie invented by Daniel Grossof Newsweek. The truth is the economy is anemic and there’s no sign of improvement. Until there is fundamental tax reform that will make America competitive in the Global economy there won’t be. Barack Hussein Obama and his Porkulus bill have only made things worse. The higher the debt and government involvement, the more it weighs down on our economy. Why would a businesses hire here with all these burdens? They will hire overseas.

The Progressive media can lie all they want but facts remain, the economy sucks! Unless we undertake massive transformation like Paul Ryan is advocating, we will be a 3rd World nation. Then again, that is the goal of the Neo-Feudalists Progressives.

Update: Here is your Tax Money at work!  It turns out we are training offshore IT workers, with our tax money!

Despite President Obama’s pledge to retain more hi-tech jobs in the U.S., a federal agency run by a hand-picked Obama appointee has launched a $36 million program to train workers, including 3,000 specialists in IT and related functions, in South Asia.

Following their training, the tech workers will be placed with outsourcing vendors in the region that provide offshore IT and business services to American companies looking to take advantage of the Asian subcontinent’s low labor costs.

[....]

USAID is also partnering with Sri Lankan companies in other industries, including construction and garment manufacturing, to help create 10,000 new jobs in the country, which is still recovering from a 30-year civil war that ended in 2009.

Read it all: U.S. To Train 3,000 Offshore IT Workers

There are plenty of out of work American IT workers. Why are we spending our tax money to help foreigners ? This shows you the Transnationalist attitude of our Bi-Partisan Progressive elites. This needs to stop and we have to create jobs here in America.

That is the Obama plan for lowering the unemployment rate. If people are out of work long enough, and there is enough of a dole out there to get them on, then the unemployment rate can go down, maybe dramatically, although it won’t be as low as during the awful Bush years.

I heard someone earlier this week commenting on the numbers and they qualified a statement by prefacing that, “even though we are not technically in a reccesion……”.

They must be under the illusion that GDP growth the last few months has actually produced a product besides the recycling waste from the stimulus money’s new government program’s office dumpsters.

I understand now. When an (R) is in office, 500K new jobs is a slow recovery… When The One is in office, he has saved 500K jobs and we are still stunned when we lose 131K jobs. The narrative is going to get old if the Dems keep trying to blame this on Bush and keep touting this wonder recovery they spent $1 Trillion on…

Following their training, the tech workers will be placed with outsourcing vendors in the region that provide offshore IT and business services to American companies looking to take advantage of the Asian subcontinent’s low labor costs.
Under director Rajiv Shah, the United States Agency for International Development will partner with private outsourcers in Sri Lanka to teach workers there advanced IT skills like Enterprise Java (Java EE) programming, as well as skills in business process outsourcing and call center support. USAID will also help the trainees brush up on their English language proficiency.

USAID is contributing about $10 million to the effort, while its private partners are investing roughly $26 million.

Because the unemployment problem in Sri Lanka is a real problem. Unemployment in America is simply social policy in action…

That’s what Bob Beckel said and Daniel Gross declared it the greatest comeback ever!

  21. 21 | August 6, 2010 11:52 am

Actually, the “discouraged workers” who have supposedly given up on looking for work probably are still looking for work. They are not being recorded as such because they have dropped off the unemployment rolls. Some others are unlikely to be counted in the stats because they don’t qualify for unemployment in the first place (such as youths trying to enter the labor market for their first jobs, or mothers trying to re-enter the labor market as their children reach school age).

Some older workers have taken early retirement as a de facto layoff, even though they would have preferred to continue working longer. And then there are people with disabilities who had previously been working in jobs where they had some accommodation for their disabilities, but then were laid off, couldn’t find any other employment opportunities, and went on Social Security disability for lack of any alternative.

And then there’s widespread underemployment. Back in the 1930s, underemployment wasn’t a factor the way it is today. Too many people can get only part-time jobs at very low pay when they need full-time jobs to support themselves and their families, or they are working at jobs considerably below their actual qualifications and skill level just to put a little bread on the table.

If you put all of that together, my estimation is that the REAL unemployment rate is upwards of 20% and that the underemployment rate is another 25% on top of that.

    For a little perspective:

    Fifty Years From Now
    -
–Harry McClintock (author of “The Big Rock Candy Mountain”), 1931

Now over there in Europe, they’re having lots of fun

Their taxes and their big war debts have got them on the run

We have to lend them money to keep them on their feet

While a million good Americans are sleeping in the street

Our international bankers are busy night and day

They’re figuring lots of ways and means to give our dough away

Our workingmen are unemployed, they’re raising quite a row

Prosperity’s around the corner, fifty years from now

Oh, fifty years from now, fifty years from now

Just tell the grocery man you’ll pay him fifty years from now

When the landlord and the taxman come with both hands full of bills

Just point ‘em towards the West, and say, “There’s gold in them thar hills!”

Fifty years from now, fifty years from now

We’ll find a way to pay your bills, fifty years from now

Oh, the situation’s funny, we’ve lent Europe all our money

And they won’t be able to pay it back ’til fifty years from now.

Our domestic situation is certainly hard to beat

We have to go ’round hungry ’cause we’ve raised too much to eat

We cannot ride our railroads, ’cause we haven’t got the fare

We’ve piled up stacks of clothing ’til we have nothing to wear

They’ll throw you in the hoosegow if you steal a loaf of bread

But the gangsters fill our cities full of powder, smoke and lead

We’d like to find the answer, but it seems we don’t know how

It probably will come out all right in fifty years from now

Fifty years from now, fifty years from now

Oh, everything will be lovely, in fifty years from now

In the meantime all you have to do is stand around and grin

And do your starving gracefully or the cops’ll run you in

It’s really quite the style to take it with a smile

It’s supposed to help a hungry man somehow

Though it’s hard on some beginners to do without their dinners

Just think of their nice trim waistlines, fifty years from now

Oh, fifty years from now, fifty years from now

We won’t remember a thing about it, fifty years from now

We’ll be out in the marble orchard where the tombstones are in bloom

Underneath the green grass, there’s always plenty of room

Yes, fifty years from now, fifty years from now

We’ll be down where they can’t reach us with a plow

And among the saints and sinners, and the losers and the winners

It won’t matter a heck of a lot, fifty years from now

I absolutely detest what Obama is doing to our country. But what’s worse are the press corps(e) that seemingly can’t pull their head out of their ass to see what’s actually going on. The press has moved from watchdog role to guardian of Obama role where one dare not say anything negative about Dear Leader.

I am so sick of him, yet we have two more years of this. At a certain point I had expected the press to turn on him because he would turn on them (under the bus just like our country) but they actually liked getting run over by the bus and probably begged him to come back over them.

It is truly sickening to see not just the the depths that Obama intends to sink this country, but that he is cheers on by the fourth estate whereas if it were George Bush, they’d have burned him at the stake twice by now. Absolutely sickening. Is there not one journalist that will call the president a liar when the president lies?

This won’t change until 2012 and may well get worse after the Lame Duck Congress gets through raising taxes. Raising taxes during a recession, you really can’t get dumber than that. It’s the same old story, progressives cannot get it through their thick skulls that tax cuts, especially to the rich who hire new workers, raise revenue. Take Paul Krugman who says Paul Ryan’s Roadmap for America’s Future is crap:

“The Congressional Budget Office has estimated that Rep. Paul Ryan’s plan would cut the budget deficit in half by 2020.”
But the budget office has done no such thing. At Mr. Ryan’s request, it produced an estimate of the budget effects of his proposed spending cuts — period. It didn’t address the revenue losses from his tax cuts.

When in the history of America has tax cuts resulted in less revenue? Leftist never answer this, they just point to higher deficits after tax cuts like Reagan’s as if we’re too stupid to see that Congress always seems to spend twice as much as the increases.

It is disheartening that so many of our neighbors rely on the MFM for their news, opinion, and everything else required to make a sound judgement when they enter the voting booth. That is bad for the country, but I don’t know how to change it. Posting on blogs is a help, but how great is our real reach?

I don’t remember complaining about the price back then when a dollar bought more. I haven’t done the math but It was probably less in actual dollars/consumer price index than the current China one.

The problem is, the people trying to bring us down see that. It is a feature (a much desired feature) of our fall, and not a bug at all to them. They want the vast population of the world living in abject penury without any hope of betterment. That fulfills them, shows them how special they are. Obama would eat it up, flying around the world in a Gulfstream, visiting all the Beautiful Places, meeting with all the Beautiful People™ while the average person in America couldn’t afford a horse to ride and didn’t have enough food to feed their children. That is his goal, his masterpiece.

These people are evil. I don’t know what it will take for the bulk of America to wake up to this.

We will also have to that which prevails into whatever new day is ahead or the world will loose the most benevolent institutional memory civilization has ever created, and not know the dawn for a long time. ad. if ever again from a secular view.

I still want to see my own personal idea for a “reality TV” show realized: A gang of Muslim terrorists grabs a bunch of moonbats—would-be “human shields,” or Rachel Corrie wannabees like those idiot Iran hikers—and each week, as we see them suffer through privations, humiliations and tortures, they get to vote on which of their number will have their head sawn off on a video, as their captors ululate in the background.

I think I saw that show on VlagTV.

I don’t where you’ve been but they’ve already woke up and have taken to the streets, townhalls – you name it! Only thing they are waiting on is how the elections turn out.

    Should that fail – I don’t know.

Yeah – He plans to throw all of this down. ALL of it! Then that 1000 years will actually be the new apex of man. I don’t think it’ll get better than that period of time. Then He’s going to toss that one as well. End of story while He plays with His new family for awhile. Then I imagine He’ll start all over again.

..eerr I should have read that a little better? Banning progs? Wow. Last time I was a regular at Digg was when I was a regular browsing LGF. Everytime an old school LGF link made Digg, there was a massive downvote surge. I remember one guy there who seemed to not have his head up his ass who went by the nick Admiral Adama … at least he could see past the end of his nose.

I’m actually shocked that conservatives got any kind of a foothold at Digg. I don’t even know how that could happen.

I think I am more pessimistic than you. I will believe they have woken up only when the election results in November tell me they have woken up. What will happen then, though, is anybody’s guess. I can remember how absolutely pumped we all were after the ’94 election. A guy I knew faxed a letter “We got you, you son of a bitch!” to Jim Sasser after we kicked his ass out of office over the “Assault Rifle” ban. Then the Republicans that took over refused to repeal that unconstitutional legislation. Yeah, they didn’t reauthorize the fuckin’ thing. Wow. I’m underwhelmed with enthusiasism about that. Hey! The Republicans didn’t assrape my Constitutional rights. WooHoo!

But they spent like Democrats. They porked-up like Democrats. They had ethics scandals like Democrats. Why should I expect this time to be significantly different? I’m changing out the gang-colors on the punks that are taking my wallet. It is hard to get too pumped up about that any more.

    @ Rodan:

Yeah, that is what they want. I keep saying that Americans don’t serf, but we’ve got two elections left to prove that in, maybe. We need to slam the Progs hard this election. Dem and Republican Progs both have to be sent a message. Then we need a Reagan Revolution 2012 edition. I’m not sure there’s anybody with that kind of ass-kicking ability out there to vote for, period. Palin, maybe, backed up by a Speaker Ryan and Majority Leader DeMint. If we could get that, maybe there’s a chance of pulling out of the nose-dive Obama has put us in. Maybe.

I wonder what happened to Admiral Adama. He was a solid counterjihadist. Wouldn’t mind seeing him blog here.

You’re absolutely right. I was banned THREE TIMES from Digg, before I finally decided it was no longer worth the time, energy, and aggravation and stopped visiting the site.

I covered the leftard censorship issue at Digg quite a long time ago.

Matter of fact, seeing all of the jihadi crap being posted there is much of what inspired me to start my own blog.
