Rebuild St. Nicholas CHURCH at Ground Zero, Not a Mosque

Rebuilding has been blocked for nearly nine years. Where’s the outrage?

Amid all the brouhaha about the intentions of our Muslim enemies to build a monument to terrorism at Ground Zero in New York City, we seem to have forgotten about rebuilding the little Orthodox Christian church that was destroyed in the same attack.

George Demos: REBUILD THE CHURCH AT GROUND ZERO, NOT A MOSQUE

H/T: Sparta

St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church silhouetted against the Twin Towers

Brookhaven, NY- George Demos, the Conservative Republican Candidate for Congress in New York’s First Congressional District issued the following statement on the proposed mosque amid the sacred ruins of Ground Zero and expressed outrage at our own government’s refusal to rebuild the only house of worship that was actually destroyed on September 11th- the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church.

George Demos said:

“On September 11, 2001, over 3,000 Americans, including 168 residents of our community in Suffolk County, were taken from us by the evil acts of Islamic extremists bent on destroying our freedoms. Amid the thick smoke and choking ashes of that fateful day, the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church was reduced to dust.

Since 1922, St. Nicholas Church had stood as a quiet sanctuary of prayer and reflection amidst the tumultuous and bustling crossroads of commerce. For nine years the Port Authority of New York/New Jersey has used bureaucratic obstacles and false promises to hinder the rebuilding of the St. Nicholas Church. This must end and it must end now.

What an outrage that our government has put roadblocks in the path of its own citizens trying rebuild their beloved Church destroyed by Islamic extremists, while Saudi Arabia, a nation that prohibits people from even wearing a Cross or the Star of David, now provokes the families of those who lost loved ones by apparently funneling money to build a mosque at the same location.

As our Congressman, I will always remember that our Constitutional freedom of religion starts with respecting our own sacred Judeo-Christian heritage. Now is the time for the Port Authority to stop hiding behind its bureaucracy and to facilitate the rebuilding of the St. Nicholas Church that was taken from us on that quiet September morning nearly a decade ago.”

Local bureaucrats block rebuilding the church, but smooth the way for a mosque

I suppose that’s what passes for “freedom of religion” these days! How sadly ironic, considering that there is no greater enemy of freedom of religion than Islam. Islam unjustly avails itself of Constitutional protections by calling itself a religion, but it is not a religion in any recognizable sense of the word. Islam is instead an expansionist, totalitarian political ideology that, much like Nazism and Communism, seeks to rid the world of everything but itself.

Evidently, that’s just fine with the tranzi-progressive/jihadist alliance that is currently running the show in New York City. The New York/New Jersey Port Authority bureaucrats are refusing to budge, and, with few exceptions, the local politicians are doing nothing to get justice for the St. Nicholas congregation and other Orthodox Christians who have the right to worship and to commemmorate the dead in a church on this site.

This story ran in the New York Times over a year ago, and still nothing has been done.

NYT: Church’s Troubles Typify Ground Zero Delays

By CHARLES V. BAGLI
Published: July 3, 2008

The story of the tiny St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and its efforts to rebuild after the collapse of the World Trade Center is one of well-intentioned promises that led to endless negotiations, design disputes, delays and mounting costs.

It is, in other words, a microcosm of the seven-year, $16 billion, problem-plagued effort to reconstruct the entire trade center site.

Within a month of the attack on the trade center, Archbishop Demetrios, primate of the Greek Orthodox Church in America, pledged that the four-story church would rise “on the same sacred spot as a symbol of determined faith.” Gov. George E. Pataki agreed.

But today, the church exists only on blueprints. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the agency overseeing reconstruction, has not finalized the exchange of land needed to provide the congregation with a new home near ground zero. Until that deal is completed, the authority cannot proceed with building the southern foundation wall for the entire site, and cannot draw up designs for a bomb screening center for buses and trucks that would go under the new church.

It is much more important that they build the Mosque. Don’t you understand? The Mosque is to teach us a lesson. And that is why the Left are so lock-step in their support of it.

    AP) – 4 hours ago

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama on Friday will speak up for religious freedom at a dinner celebrating the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, emphasizing that point just as New York City is immersed in a deeply sensitive debate about whether a mosque should be built near ground zero.

Obama has not yet spoken about the mosque controversy. The White House has been calling the matter solely a local one.

White House spokesman Robert Gibbs would not directly say whether Obama would address the mosque when he hosts the iftar dinner that breaks the holiday’s daily fast. But Gibbs quickly added that Obama believes strongly in the tenet of religious freedom and would be speaking out on that.

The planned mosque’s location near the site of the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center has touched off a huge debate in New York

YIKES!! Here’s their website: Democratic Socialist of America.

    The Capitalist Marketplace
As democratic socialists we are committed to ensuring that any market is the servant of the public good and not its master. Liberty, equality, and solidarity will require not only democratic control over economic life, but also a progressively financed, decentralized, and quality public sector. Free markets or private charity cannot provide adequate public goods and services.
    Social Redistribution
Social redistribution–the shift of wealth and resources from the rich to the rest of society–will require:
massive redistribution of income from corporations and the wealthy to wage earners and the poor and the public sector, in order to provide the main source of new funds for social programs, income maintenance and infrastructure rehabilitation, and
a massive shift of public resources from the military (the main user of existing discretionary funds) to civilian uses.

Socialism my ass! This crap is ure communism!

Man Scrawls World’s Biggest Message With GPS ‘Pen’

One man drove 12,238 miles across 30 states to scrawl a message that can only be viewed using Google Earth. His big shoutout: “Read Ayn Rand.”

Nick Newcomen did a road trip over 30 days that covered stretches from the Pacific to the Atlantic Ocean. First, he identified on a map the route he would need to drive to spell out the message. He put a GPS device in his car to trace the route he would follow. Then, he hit the road

From the article (admittedly the following could be considered tech-babble):

Newcomen, unlike previous GPS artists, actually traveled the lines he traced on the map. He used a GPS logger (Qstarz BT-Q1000X) to “ink” the message. Starting his trip in Marshall, Texas, he turned on the device when he wanted to write a letter and turned off the device between letters. The recorded GPS data was loaded into Google Earth to produce the image above.

    well shit
    here we go again

Obama joins EU in loading the dice against Israel to start peace talks

In the last 24 hours, Secretary of State Clinton has telephoned Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and brought up some issues that need to be resolved to start direct peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians, according to the State Department.

The European Union at the same time announced that Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas would be ready to abandon his year-long refusal to engage in such talks, based on three conditions:

–A permanent suspension by Israel of settlement construction.

–An agreement by Israel that creation of a Palestinian state would be based on the 1967 borders.

–An Israeli commitment that a peace deal would be achieved within two years.

Connect the dots: This two-pronged pressure campaign to get Netanyahu to abandon his insistence on direct talks without any pre-conditions simply means that the so-called Quartet (the U.S., the EU, Russia and the UN) are set on enticing Abbas to come to the negotiating table on the basis of the Palestinian leader’s own pre-conditions and against Israeli insistence that there be no pre-conditions.

The EU’s announcement, in a letter obtained by Reuters, is based on a month-old Quartet “road map” toward negotiations which Obama and Clinton co-sponsored. Now, it’s being trotted out to reward Abbas for his stubborn refusal to come to the table for more than a year.

Abbas would prove once more that, with Obama and Clinton, he doesn’t have to negotiate seriously with Israel — just wait for Washington to do the negotiating for him.

With the chips now down, will Netanyahu bow to this pressure campaign by Washington and Brussels?

    ….yes, what will Bibbi do?

You Know You’ve Made It When You’ve Evoked Obama-wrath

These days, I’m not so sure that it’s a BAD thing to be a target of the White House – just take a look at Barack Obama’s approval ratings if you’re in any doubt.

So when it hit the news that the most recent butt of attacks by the President was none other than Americans for Prosperity, all I could think was that I couldn’t wait to congratulate them – you couldn’t pay for better positive publicity.

Basically, Barak Obama is saying 1) that AFP is challenging Democrat candidates (at which point AFP should thank him for the shout-out), and 2) that he hasn’t done ANY homework on AFP to actually learn about who they are, but since they are fighting Democrats, he’s decided to make his typical biased, uninformed judgment against the conservative organization – and then take childish jabs at them during presidential speeches. At least we know he’s classy.

I have a feeling that AFP’s donations are up this week.

As can only be expected, AFP leaders like Tim Phillips and New Jersey’s very own Steve Lonegan are taking advantage of this free publicity.

“The Obama cronies are seeking the names and addresses of Americans for Prosperity donors for one reason: Revenge.

“All Americans should be threatened by this carefully planned maneuver. They could come after you next.”
Steve’s conclusion is chillingly accurate. Our president has done nothing to hide his petty vindictiveness against any and all who oppose him. Liberty-loving Americans should be wary – but let us not be intimidated.

In fact, it’s the Obama Administration who are intimidated, and justifiably so. Americans For Prosperity has organized a national effort to elect conservatives this November, November is Coming. It’s obviously caught Obama’s attention.

It’s like Tim Phillips, president of AFP, says:

Take heart — the President is attacking us by name. He knows, and the Left knows, we are making a crucial difference.
So congratulations to Tim, Steve Lonegan, and all of Americans for Prosperity. You’ve earned your place on Obama’s blacklist; wear th badge proudly.

yeah, this would be a good time to…..”READ THE WHOLE THING!”

That is not going to work for Americans. It may work in 3rd world locations like Bangladesh, Pockeeeston and Affganeeston where people are poor, hungry and armed with sticks.

wonder how this story is working out?

Get ready for plenty of stories like Michael Merlina’s. He can’t afford to buy health insurance as mandated by the state and he can’t afford the $2,000 fine levied on him for not buying a plan. So he’s suing.

Michael Merlina was fed up, frustrated and seemingly out of options when he walked into Middlesex Superior Court last week and plunked down $275 for court fees.

With help from a few clerks, Merlina became his own lawyer and filed a lawsuit against the Massachusetts Health Insurance Connector Authority.

The 29-year-old North Reading glazier is fighting the $2,000 state fine for not having health insurance. In 2009, the first year penalties were in place, Merlina paid a $400 fine for him and his wife.

    This time, he balked

It makes no sense to me,” Merlina told The Pulse. “I’m a hard-working, tax-paying guy who can’t afford $800 a month for health insurance, or the $2,000 penalty for not having it, and nobody seems to get this

The Lockerbie bomber has secretly resumed hospital chemotherapy sessions in an attempt to beat his cancer, the Daily Mail can reveal.

A year after Abdelbaset Al Megrahi was sent home to Libya to die with just three months to live, he is now making regular trips to a top medical centre for the ‘very best care that money can buy’.

Earlier this year his family claimed all conventional treatment had stopped and that he was solely relying on alternative medicine and positive thinking to ease his pain.

But the Mail has learned he is once again receiving help from cancer specialists, which his family hope will provide a ‘miracle cure’ and extend his life still further – possibly by more than 18 months.

    Pamela Geller says Obama Ramadanadingdong

Barack Obama this week extended his “best wishes to Muslims in America and around the world” and wished them a “Ramadan Kareem.” And he wrote, as he did in last year’s Ramadan message also, about “the principles that we hold in common, and Islam’s role in advancing justice, progress, tolerance, and the dignity of all human beings.”

Which principles do we hold in common? Death for apostates? The legitimacy of honor killing? I don’t begin to know what Obama is talking about here. Other religions are not tolerated in Muslim countries. Churches and synagogues do not exist in some Islamic countries, notably our “ally” Saudi Arabia, and where they do exist, they are constantly targeted and in myriad instances attacked. Churches in Nigeria and Indonesia have been attacked just recently.

Where is the dignity of women living under Sharia? Women’s rights under Islam are practically non-existent. Oppression, subjugation and gender apartheid define the treatment of women in Islam. Islamic anti-semitism defines the faith. Islamic aggression and intolerance of the Jews and the Jewish state have become the rallying cry of the ummah and the OIC-driven UN – abetted by Obama.

Obama also says that “Ramadan is a celebration of a faith known for great diversity and racial equality.” Diversity? Where is the diversity? Non-Muslims are anging on in Muslim countries only as tiny, persecuted minorities. Maybe Obama doesn’t know, or doesn’t care, that the word abd in Arabic means both “black” and “slave,” and that throughout Islamic history Arabs have exalted themselves above non-Arab Muslims. Even today in Darfur, Arab Muslims are terrorizing and killing non-Arab Muslims.

    Read the whole thing.

    boy!
this really will make you go hmmmmmm!!

Video: “I’m willing to take a chance on something different”

“In 2008,” Michelle Rena Jones says with a laugh, “we cheered, hollered, partied, celebrated.” The party’s over in 2010, though, and she knows it. Jones says promises haven’t been fulfilled, and now she feels as though she made a mistake — and she’s not the only one. The Wall Street Journal tells a story that George Stephanpoulos notes Democrats “don’t want to hear” in this midterm cycle, a story of hype and disillusion that has voters looking for change in 2010 — real change:

Now, the 40-year-old is rethinking her lifelong support for the party. She has been without steady work for two years, lost her home and car and began receiving cash assistance from the state for the first time. This year, she says, “I’m willing to take a chance on something different.” Another possibility, she says, is that she won’t vote at all.

Incumbent House Democrats in dozens of districts face a daunting task: to explain why they wasted almost a year on ObamaCare while unemployment skyrocketed for their constituents, in most cases above the national average. Jones and many others like her who feel betrayed by Barack Obama and Democrats on economic issues may find it difficult to bother voting for a Democrat again, even if they don’t vote for a Republican — at least now. The GOP has a generational opportunity to show its relevance on economics and limited government to a broad, formerly hostile audience that finally discovered that Obamanomics is nothing more than smoke and mirrors … very expensive smoke and mirrors.

To grow mentally and morally as well as physically,
To be kind and helpful to our classmates and teachers,
To be honest with ourselves as well as with others,
Help us to be good sports and smile when we lose as well as when we win,
Teach us the value of true friendship,
Help us always to conduct ourselves so as to bring credit to Cranston High School West.
    Amen.”

“[Blocking porn websites] will have begin before Ramadan. If some of [the websites] remain accessible, we can at least say we tried,” Communications and Information Technology Ministry spokesman Gatot S. Dewabroto said Thursday.

He was quick to add that the government would be “very careful” not to stoke public fears of web censorship similar to China or Iran.

“We have the human rights law and the press law. We are very democratic, and there is no intention of carrying out censorship under the name of pornography,” Gatot said via telephone. [emphasis added]

An intoxicating piece of music it is – and now that we are nearly the last vestiges of freedom will we able to also be the last stronghold? I don’t know. We have too many unwilling on our side because they are uneducated on the doctrines and traditions of Islam, as well as the historical evidence of the goal of world dominion (through their emulation of Muhammad).

The architecture on the introductory frame of this video is one of many examples of European heritage – which they (and we since many of our are descended from Europe & the United Kingdom) stand to lose. Things that cannot be replaced that have been built by those combined civilizations like the baroque, the gothic, the roman, the greek are all at risk of being either destroyed or transplanted into Islam. It is very sad – any opera house means music and music is not appreciated in Islam as it is in the West. The museums (esp. art museums) when raided will lose everything that means anything to our Judeo-Christian and democratic values and heritage. The libraries…. none if has been allowed to remain in history. What makes anyone think that Europe and the USA will be any different once sufficiently weakened.
