You’re a cat and you have to do the usual “cat things” to survive and get the female feline. Eat fish out of the fish bowl, catch mice, and steal milk from sleeping dogs are some of the things you have to do to survive in this surreal masterpiece from Bill Williams.

I hope so.

I do too on occasion, but I’ve been working on that flaw. If it’s true possum told Elaina to ‘get over’ the Holocaust as vagabond trader says, he’s a poor fit for this blog. And Speranza has been a real asset to Blogmocracy.

that was a discussion over three moths ago between the two of them that has been taken way out of context and brought back up as ammo against possum. posum and eliana are ok with each other and can discuss sensitive issues.
i am not defending possum, but that comment brought up out of a historic thread here and today as ammo agaist possum overall is way, way out of context.

I like possum but last night he was writing things that seemed a bit odd. And to top it off, he refused to answer my replies and I think the reason for it was that they were irrefutable.
I don’t mind a good argument as long as civility is in the mix. And for possum civility was there, at least with me last night. But I have seen some here antagonize others, and what could one expect except that emotions run high and things are said that would not be, had both sides kept the nastiness out.

We haven’t trusted our sailors with drink aboard ship since I think 1869 or thereabouts. The Brits used to serve rum and grog aboard their ships until 1972. Sad to see the RN give up that tradition.

Will Obama be a one term President? I think the answer is obvious to any serious student of politics. Successful political leaders have an instinctive feel for when to step on the gas, and for when to step on the brakes. In the modern era Reagan and Clinton and to a lesser extent G.W. Bush had it down cold. Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter and H.W. Bush were clueless in this regard. Barak Obama has no clue at all. He steps on the gas when he should be tapping the brake. I just watched today’s weekly White House web posting which is all about: Weekly Address: No Corporate Takeover of Our Democracy. Obama is clueless. a true moron, who bashes corporations at a time of massive unemployment.

Look Dorian,it was a blanket statement, which does not matter one bit.The meaning was very clear, take it from someone who has heard all the variations in my 57 years. If you want to read the context go to the archives 6.13.10.I do not wish to discuss it any further for fear of being called that whining Jew the statement implies. It is why I never said anything about it until now. So, in other words, no you weren’t, you weren’t involved in the conversation at all, you are offended by something that was said to someone else. Moreover the fact that the two individuals who were involved in the conversation have resolved the incident is clearly of no interest to you.
OK fair enough, it’s is your right to be as offended as you wish by any thing you wish to be offended by. It is equally your right to refuse to be gracious or forgiving, still not a problem.
Let’s just be honest and not pretend you are actually in any way involved other than that your personal sensitivities are offended, which as I have clearly said is your right.

There are people here for whom no apology by possum will ever suffice. Does he owe people here an apology, yes he does. Will those certain people ever accept an apology from him, no they will not.
Some of our friends here are of a echo chamber mindset, any opinion that does not agree with theirs is strictly verboten and any who hold or express such opinions must be vilified and banned.
Fortunately the majority of the fine people here completely reject that mentality and recognize it for what it is.

If nothing else it was, for me, an impetus to consider the somewhat-foreign-to-me idea of “the rights of nations” v. something like realpolitik. Jefferson here seems to come down on Possum’s side of things more often than not, though there’s always the exception:
