This is a tribute to the feline friends of the blogging community:

Here’s Tom, a cute kitten belonging to the parents of Natasha.

And speaking of Russian cats, the Siberian is a great cat that almost went extinct during the Stalin years. Pets of any kind were considered “bourgeoisie”, and they didn’t have any outside of Russia. They’re like the Maine Coon, and Norwegian Forest cat, except they’re hypoallergenic. Big, fluffy goofs.

    @ snork:

If I didn’t already have four cats (all rescue kitties), I’d want a Siberian. I used to be terribly allergic to cats, and will still react to dander if it gets in my eyes. I’d love a hypoallergenic kitty

Cats are great. I don’t currently have one, but I was taking care of a cat (bengal) for a long time for one of my friends who was travelling and came quite attached to it.

On a related topic, I also favor the death penalty for cat murder. That disgusting UK woman who threw a cat in a trash bin recently should be behind bars. Pets are worth more than certain humans, there’s no doubt about that.

Why Must Male Candidates Call Their Female Opponents Whores? And Why Does Palin Support Them?
    littlegreenfootballs.com (clicks: 11)
Oops! Here comes a deleted tweet…

Joe Miller has deleted this incredibly stupid tweet, most likely because it calls his female opponent a whore. It linked to a Daily Caller story about Murkowski possibly running as a Libertarian if/when she loses the close primary held three days ago, the results of which are still being counted.

As Jezebel asks, does Sarah Palin condone such language from her prize candidate?

As previously discussed, there’s a very obvious reason why misogynists delight in calling women ‘whores’: ‘whore’ and its cognates are intended to put women in our place by reminding us of our proper function.

None of this will bother Palin, of course, who picks up feminism and puts it down when it suits her. More to come on that.

    @ Rodan:

Hey, brother! Did you see Beck’s rally? WooHoo! That will turn some heads. Beck is taking his popularity and turning it into something. Limbaugh has never done anything like this. O’Reilly may be about to lose his spot at 8:00. IIRC, he said if Beck got 100,000 people there he deserved it. He well more than doubled that.

A message from the Sharpton rally I’m re-posting from last thread:

Jaime Contreras, local SEIU president added this:

“Shame on them. We still have a dream. We are here to let those folks on the Mall know that they don’t represent the dream. They sure as hell don’t represent me. They represent hate-mongering and angry white people. The happy white people are here today. We will not let them stand in the way of the change we voted for!“

Fidel Castro: Osama bin Laden is a U.S. agent…

Fidel Castro says al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden is a bought-and-paid-for CIA agent who always popped up when former President George W. Bush needed to scare the world, arguing that documents recently posted on the Internet prove it.

“Any time Bush would stir up fear and make a big speech, bin Laden would appear threatening people with a story about what he was going to do,” Castro told state media during a meeting with a Lithuanian-born writer known for advancing conspiracy theories about world domination. “Bush never lacked for bin Laden’s support. He was a subordinate.”

Castro said documents posted on WikiLeaks.org — a website that recently released thousands of pages of classified documents from the Afghan war — “effectively proved he was a CIA agent.” He did not elaborate.

  62. 64 | August 28, 2010 4:42 pm

Jillian noted earlier reports that the crowd was over 500,000. The “low estimate” Beck referred to was likely the national park service, who estimated the crowd within the last hour to be between 300,000-325,000.

    Super-Fail.

Does Islam or does it not, force people by the power of the sword to submit to its authority corporeally if not spiritually? Yes. There are only three choices in Islam; either willing submission; or payment of the jizya, through physical, though not spiritual, submission to the authority of Islam; or the sword – for it is not right to let the infidel live. The matter is summed up for every person alive: Either submit, or live under the suzerainty of Islam; or die…Furthermore, how can they [intellectuals] claim that we have no right to force a people to change its particular values, when they transgress the bounds of nature? Such are lies. In fact, Muslims are obligated to raid the lands of the infidels, occupy them and exchange their systems of governance for an Islamic system, barring any practice that contradicts the Sharia from being publicly voiced among the people.

A bit OT, and not sure if anyone’s brought this earlier:

EPA Surrenders on Lead Bullet Ban

    Paul Bedard reports:

In a swift and unexpected decision, the Environmental Protection Agency today rejected a petition from environmental groups to ban the use of lead in bullets and shotgun shells, claiming it doesn’t have jurisdiction to weigh on the controversial Second Amendment issue. The decision came just hours after the Drudge Report posted stories from Washington Whispers and the Weekly Standard about how gun groups were fighting the lead bullet ban.

    One for the good guys.

    72 | August 28, 2010 5:21 pm

Oh, and this little doozy has been added to our local AP report:

Beck had appealed to those attending not to bring signs with them. But Mike Cash, a 56-year-old Atlanta businessman, found a way around that. Over his polo shirt, he wore a T-shirt that read “Treat Obama like a used tea bag, toss him out now!”

“I wouldn’t have missed it (the rally) for anything,” said Cash, who drove up with his family. “We are here kind of protesting about our government, too. I’m a businessman and I’m worried about taxes going up.”

Many in the crowd watched the proceedings on large television screens. On the edges of the Mall, vendors sold “Don’t Tread on Me” flags, popular with tea party activists. Other activists distributed fliers urging voters “dump Obama.” The pamphlet included a picture of the president with a Hitler-style mustache.

    Stay classy, AP!

Hey, if Obama wants to call his opposition “teabaggers” he doesn’t have any dignity of office to hide behind. That they are trying to say that beck only got 100,000-300,000 people there says everything you need to know. This was big. People in this country are pissed, and the Progs are the target. I don’t expect them to hear the message, but I hope the Republicans are listening. They are going to be given another oppertunity to become the Majority Party in this country. I hop ethey understand and will follow through on what we expect of them.

So kittehs eh? Well, the old lady Angel is a Korat…medium gray shorthair with vibrant green eyes. EVERYONE notices her eyes. Lovely cats they are. Foodstamp is your typical black cat..as is my daughter’s cat Storm. Buffy is a big grey biotch. I think she was human in another life. The funny thing is, they all have different personalities. I love the kittehs <3

And it’s a not-well-concealed fact that those are the LaRouchies. Chunkles still lumps them together with all the “teabaggers”, but Lyndon LaRouche is no friend of mine.

    @ Iron Fist:

If the GOP gets in power and govern like Progressives again, it will be time for a new party or maybe two.

TC has always been my favorite because she is so stylish! And, my Willie (aka The Thug) likes her also. But he will not be allowed to be around her – his idea of play is to jump up in the air and dead drop on the other cat.

    LaRouche is a douche.

    From your link:
‘Alveda King, a niece of the civil rights leader, appealed to Beck rally participants to “focus not on elections or on political causes but on honor, on character … not the color of our skin.”‘

I don’t think it’s the Beck rally or the tea party that focuses on skin color, Ms. King. It’s people like Al Sharpton, the Obamessiah and UpChuck Johnson.

Despite Prince Charles’ Muslim sympathies, I don’t think anybody in that family is capable of doing any real damage. I suspect said Muslim sympathies are the result of inbreeding in his own ancestry.

Oh, but you didn’t get the memo.

Anything that does not promote the interests of the tranzi-progressive/jihadist convergence is automatically raaaaacist.

    @ Rodan:

I agree. The Republicans are (probably) going to be given the oppertunity to redeem themselves, but there are conditions on that oppertunity. We are already seeing that from Alaska to Florida to Arizona. McCain shouldn’t have had to spend $20 million to hold on to his seat from a primary challenger. That is almost unheard of., People are tired of the RINOs. It will be interesting to see how he behaves once he is back in Washington. David Broder had a piece in the WashPost today calling for McCain to “come home” to the Progs. He wasn’t quite that blunt about it, but that is what he meant. Everyone understands you had to placate the teabaggers, John. Just vote the right way and we’ll still invite you to our tea parties. It’ll be interesting to see what McCain does. I don’t expect much from him. But the rest of the Republicans had better keep in mind who’s servants they are, and that they are no one’s masters.
