Do not mock the Cheeto.

The furnishings and inhabitants of this room were constructed entirely out of Cheetos. I bet the the Cheeto babe on the lower right has a three-foot high fluorescent orange bathtub ring of fingerprints in every room of her house.

I know you will …

That really is the cold harsh reality and I commend you for being honest with her. it gets us all in the end. When my Dad was sick, I was the only one living around him. I had to constantly LIE to my brother in Iraq about his health. It is hard, but knowing they find peace eventually makes it easier. Thank you for being honest with her. NoThreat … yes, it can be hard … but you know it just makes us stronger women and I know that TW and her family will do the best they can … we would all like to think things will always be calm and happy … but it is just what it is … so sorry about your father.. I bet he would have thought you would do just exactly what you did … we will all see each other down the road .. and I know that something my aunt said to me after my mother passed helped me so much … she said that my mother and father are with me always now and I get great comfort in that … I know that my mother was a very strong woman and I got most of my ability to go through life when things were hard from her … I loved her so much and I cherish the thought of her always being on my shoulder … she loved this song … I loved her and we are all strong women from our mothers .. God she was the salt of the earth …

So when they pass over to the other side and when we do … I don’t fear and I have never one day feared for them … I know … I believe … so TW … embrace that they will be with you forever … over Jordan and then … the comfort … a refuge …

Dad was pissed because, unlike most men, he did go to the doctor and tried to take care of himself. It was six months from diagnosis to the end. I was at the hospital alone with him until my brother’s friend and his Dad showed up. They said it wasn’t right that I was there alone. Sweet people they are…like family to me. Things got worse and worse and I told my Dad to let go and move on. Don’t wait for the others to come…they will be here when you wake up. He passed seconds after that. I think I needed to tell him it was ok to go. It was hard, but it was the right thing for me to do at the time. Guy says, “No, Doc, I can’t afford to take exotic vacations like that.”

Doctor says, “Well, occupational exposure to certain chemicals has been known to cause such effects. Where do you work?”

Guy says, “Hell, Doc, I’ve been unemployed for eight months, before that, I worked on a road crew.”

Man! Some really good driving music there, Bunk. That movie was a true gem. So many great blues and R&B performers took part. I loved the “argument” between Matt Murphy and Aretha Franklin.

I remember one time Matt Murphy was playing the King Eddie hotel in Calgary, and had gotten into a long jazzy sort of jam. Some drunken lout up by the stage hollered, “Play some blues, that’s what we paid for!” (a whole five dollars back then, too)

Matt replied, “That is the blues, man! Blues and jazz both come from the same roots, but you just don’t understand that.” The crowd gave him a standing ovation.

Speaking of the Blues Brothers, here is the band that inspired Dan Ayckroyd to make the movie:

Brothers Don Walsh (guitar) and Hock Walsh (vocals) were the original members of Downchild, and Dan Ayckroyd was both a fan and a friend to them.

The band, with Don, is still going strong, but Hock is no longer with us.

    Bunk X wrote:

Zappa rejected him because he really wasnt all that good. In fact, it was his not being all that damned good that got him recorded as often as he was. Stanley Clarke, Al Jarreau, Jaco Pastorius and the other people Charles recorded for wanted him specifically because his playing would never ever overshadow theirs.

Like I said, their is a reason he never recorded his own records or cd’s, if he actually had any damned talent he would have used it. He didnt and while he recorded on 29 records/CD’s none of them were his own, nobody in the entire music industry would risk their money recording him as the feature artist.

Matt is still alive and well, AFAIK. I got to meet him briefly on a couple of his King Eddie gigs, and all I can say is that he is a real gentleman.
From the early ’80s to the late ’90s, Calgary’s King Edward hotel was a big part of the blues circuit, and I was there for a large part of it.

Why wouldn’t he be? Friend of mine spotted George Thorogood leaning against a wall at an Angels’ game, same deal. No one else seemed to know who he was.

Funny. Blogger buddy Planetross advised that I put up a Justin Bieber .gif to accelerate my blog stats. So I did.

Well that didnt work the way you planned it did it… (pretty much crashed your blog)

Yep. So now I’ve got a contest scheduled for tomorrow to make up for it. Ditto here (hint hint).

    @ Bunk X:
No reason that he wouldn’t be, except that some people in the music biz get an ego so vast that they can’t bear to mingle with the plebes. Blues musicians, as a group, are thankfully free of this vice, although I can think of one or two exceptions.

Here’s another real gentleman of the blues, playing an instrument that isn’t often heard in that context:

I crash anywhere I need to. Actually, I didn’t crash my blog at all, and added a cool little widget linky today. Puts little red dots on a map. I’ve always wanted to put little red dots on a map.

Well, have a good night, all of you. I had a good day doing yard work, with a warm south wind and 70 degree temperatures to make it pleasant. But I have a sore back to show for it, so it’s off to the rack for me.

OK, chances are Rod Stewart probably made the record companies a little bit more money than Jeff Beck did and might have had a little bit more name recognition worldwide than Jeff Beck.

Jeff Beck was Roger Waters’ original choice to replace Syd Barrett in Pink Floyd, and rumor has it that Beck was interested.

David Gilmour’s ties to the band made him more accessible.

    I’m a huge Gilmour fan(duh), but musically it’s a pretty interesting “What if…”

I doubt Beck would’ve put up with Waters as long as Gilmour did, despite the admiration that he gives him in the article.

    LOL!!

More motivation for me to get up and take care of the little vermin.

Taking a cue from stink bugs, a Congress infested with Democrats, for the first time since 1960, is considering suspending session three weeks early. Like halyomorpha halys Congress, “wants to find a place to chill out for the winter.”

Entomologists claim stink bugs don’t gravitate indoors for “warmth…[but]… for refuge.” House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA) verifies stink bug-similarity by contending Democrats fleeing Washington DC seek refuge only because “they haven’t a clue when it comes to creating jobs and getting Americans back to work.”

Similar to the present Washington DC pentatomidae family insect plague, Democrats also feed off a host and tunnel into private premises uninvited. Together with an insect infestation, political pests are simultaneously “flooding houses,” burrowing into finances, health care decisions and even food choices.” Enough with simply swatting away the culprits, its time to take radical steps and “close off the small spaces” where entry is gained and prevent unwanted political policies from infiltrating freedom and lives.

    Best. Compensated. Slave. Ever.

Haynesworth protested by staying away from the team’s offseason conditioning program and practices. He also skipped a mandatory minicamp and was unable to pass the team’s conditioning test until the 10th day of training camp — all despite receiving a $21 million bonus on April 1.

“I guess in this world we don’t have a lot of people with, like, backbones,” Haynesworth said. “Just because somebody pay you money don’t mean they’ll make you do whatever they want or whatever. I mean, does that mean everything is for sale?

“I mean, I’m not for sale. Yeah, I signed the contract and got paid a lot of money, but … that don’t mean I’m for sale or a slave or whatever.”

    That’s debatable.

Stewart did become more famous however nobody but nobody plays the guitar as well as Jeff Beck!
