[Found here, via here.]

Some of you may have noticed an improvement in the rec room restrooms recently. Yep, that’s right, the old cracked wooden butt-pinchers have been replaced with Church Seats. We’re going green!

The best part is that Church Seats will stay stunning. And speaking of green, let’s all have a seat and pinch off another Overnight Open Thread.

Hmm…wonder what inspires the practitioners of the deen of peace to such sanguinary zealotry…

And to God prostrate whoever is in the heavens and the earth, willingly, such as believers, or unwillingly, such as hypocrites and those coerced by the sword, and their shadows also, prostrate, in the mornings and the evenings.

    Tafsir al-Jalalayn, “Surah ar-Ra’d [Q 13]”

The way of God, that is…engaging in a struggle against them, thereby slaying them and seizing their possessions. So for them there will be a humiliating chastisement. Satan has prevailed upon them, by their obedience of him, and so he has caused them to forget the remembrance of God. Those are Satan’s confederates, his followers. Yet it is indeed Satan’s confederates who are the losers! Indeed those who oppose God and His Messenger — they will be among the most abased, the vanquished…God has inscribed, in the Preserved Tablet, or [it means] He has decreed: ‘I shall assuredly prevail, I and My messengers’, by means of definitive proof or the sword. Truly God is Strong, Mighty.

    Tafsir al-Jalalayn “Surah al-Mujadilah [Q 58]”

For them there is chastisement in the life of this world, through being killed or taken captive.

    Tafsir al-Jalalayn, “Surah ar-Ra’d [Q 13]”

As for the disbelievers, I will chastise them with a terrible chastisement in this world, through being killed, taken captive and made to pay the jizya, and the Hereafter, in the Fire; they shall have no helpers, none to protect them from it.

    Tafsir al-Jalalayn “Surah al-Imran [Q 3]”

The disbeliever is ever a partisan against his Lord, an assistant to Satan through his obedience to him.

    Tafsir al-Jalalayn, “Surah al-Furqan [Q 25]”

Fight them till there is no sedition, no idolatry, and the religion, all worship, is for God, alone and none are worshipped apart from Him; then if they desist, from idolatry, do not aggress against them. This is indicated by the following words, there shall be no enmity, no aggression through slaying or otherwise, save against evildoers. Those that desist, however, are not evildoers and should not be shown any enmity.

    Tafsir al-Jalalayn “Surah al-Baqarah [Q 2]

And fight them until sedition, idolatry, is, exists, no more and religion is all for God, alone, none other being worshipped; then if they desist, from unbelief, surely God sees what they do, and will requite them for it.

    Tafsir al-Jalalayn “Surah al-Anfal [Q 8]“

He had close relations with them. He then killed him. At that time Huwayyisah (brother of Muhayyisah) had not embraced Islam. He was older than Muhayyisah. When he killed him, Huwayyisah beat him and said: O enemy of Allah, I swear by Allah, you have a good deal of fat in your belly from his property.

Afterwards, Muhayyisah tells Huwayyisah that if he were commanded by Allah and Rasul’Allah to behead him, he would. Huwayyisah is so impressed with his murderous zealotry that he “reverts” to Islam.

Stimulus Failure: 48 Out of 50 States Lost Jobs Since Democrats Trillion Dollar Stimulus Plan

The Department of Labor today released its latest state-by-state job report, showing state jobs and unemployment data for September 2010. This latest data, when compared with the level of jobs in February 2009, when President Obama signed Democrats’ trillion-dollar stimulus plan into law, reveals that 48 out of 50 States have lost jobs since then.

In total, over 2 million jobs have been eliminated, in contrast to the over 3 million more jobs Americans were promised if Democrats’ 2009 stimulus plan passed. The only place in America that has exceeded its projected job growth following Democrats’ stimulus is Washington, D.C.

Obama Admin Touts Jobs Created Under Bush

Fifty thousand jobs. That’s the number of wind farm jobs the Obama Administration says were created by stimulus funding in 2009. Only problem? They’re taking credit for jobs created during former President George W. Bush’s term.

The Investigative Reporting Workshop at American University found that, of the 70 major wind farms that received $4.4 billion in federal energy grants through the stimulus program, 11 stood up their wind towers during the Bush Administration. More than a quarter of the wind farms, a total of 19, were built before any stimulus money was distributed.

Their fact check, using government documents, cast doubt on claims made about job creation by Matt Rogers, tasked by Secretary Steven Chu to administer stimulus funding at the Department of Energy.

The only time this administration or its flunkies are NOT lying is when their lips are not moving.

Al Qaeda Troubled by Helen Thomas’s Firing…

A few weeks ago, al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula released the second edition of its online magazine, Inspire. As with the first edition, Inspire seeks to garner new recruits in the West who are willing to carry out acts of jihad. Much of the publication is devoted to wooing would-be terrorists willing to emulate the acts of Major Nidal Malik Hassan (aka the Fort Hood shooter) and Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab (who tried to blow up Flight 253 on Christmas Day 2009). Both Hassan and Abdulmutallab had significant ties to AQAP prior to their respective days of terror.

Hassan received, at a minimum, spiritual guidance via email from Anwar al Awlaki, who is a top AQAP cleric. Abdulmutallab was convinced to join AQAP’s jihad by listening to al Awlaki’s lectures and even traveled to Yemen to receive training at an AQAP-run camp. Abdulmutallab was even able to meet Awlaki in person. U.S. counterterrorism officials have directly implicated Awlaki in the Christmas Day plot.

So, Inspire’s message is deadly serious. It is also at times comical.

One page, for instance, lists “Questions We Should Be Asking.” The first one is this:

If a long time journalist and reporter like Helen Thomas was thrown out for truthful words on the Israeli occupation, doesn’t that hint to everyone who’s really in control of America?

The authors of Inspire are referring, of course, to the kerfuffle over Helen Thomas’s unhinged remarks concerning Israel and the Jews. AQAP’s question could be considered a throwaway line, but in reality it demonstrates two important aspects of al Qaeda’s propaganda.

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) – Google Inc admitted for the first time its “Street View” cars around the world accidentally collected more personal data than previously disclosed — including complete emails and passwords — potentially breathing new life into probes in various countries.

The disclosure comes just days after Canada’s privacy watchdog said Google had collected complete emails and accused Google of violating the rights of thousands of Canadians.

“If in fact laws were broken…then there’s some serious question of culpability and Google may need to face significant fines,” said Marc Rotenberg, the executive director of the Electronic Privacy Information Center, a Washington DC-based privacy advocacy group.

Regulators in France, Germany and Spain, among others, have opened investigations into the matter.

A coalition of more than 30 state attorneys general in the United States also have launched a joint probe.

It remains unclear how many people may have been affected by the privacy breach.

From the great Dr. Sanity (in the style of Tom Leher), The Islamist Rag:

So, here’s to Professor Lehrer and his extraordinary irreverance! My, it was liberating…and, since NPR can’t fire me, here’s my meager contribution to the cause:

    THE ISLAMIST RAG

First you get down on your knees
    Beg your captors “Pretty please?”
Bow your head in great respect
So they can cut it from your neck

They can kill you for blasphemin’
Stone you till you’re really screamin’
Every other moron is quoting from the Quran an’
    Doin’ the Islamist Rag!

If you want to use Islamic law
    You must have a deeply comic flaw;
But then some Iman gets to see ya
    And dispense some great sharia

    If you’re facing marital strife
The Quran says to beat your wife!
    One, three, five, seven
Virgins wait for you in heaven!

So get down upon your knees
    Beg your captors, “Pretty please?”
Bow your head with great respect
So they can cut if from your neck.

Allah, peace be on his name
Does not want you to feel shame
So start beheadin’ ain’t no use dreadin’
    Just doin’ the Islamist Rag!

AFSCME is really starting to piss me off.

They are laying out some absolutely brutal ad spots slandering Pat Toomey by completely misrepresenting his views on free trade.

Just now I heard a radio spot where they keep playing clips of Gordon Gecko saying “Greed Is Good” in a spoooky echo voice while linking Pat Toomey to Wall Street.

On TV they are showing clips of impoverished elderly folk looking miserable while blatantly stating that Pat Toomey doesn’t give a rat’s ass about old people, and will rob them of their medical benefits the minute he he’d get into office.

Don’t these folks have an unfunded pension problem?

    Oh, brother.

Jasmine, a teenager staying in Shuman Juvenile Detention Center, uttered the words with an air of resignation: “Life ain’t fair.”

Only she wasn’t referring to her own predicament or that of 13 other teens wearing Shuman-issued blue jumpsuits who sat with her one afternoon last week in a detention center classroom, pencils in hand.

Instead, she was answering a question that had been posed to those in the room: What lessons can be learned today from a novel about race, justice and reconciliation set in the 1940s South?

The youths detained in the Lincoln-Lemington facility were participants in an unusual exercise that, all month long, has linked starkly different audiences across Allegheny County through a single, provocative reading assignment.

Community College of Allegheny County — working with school districts, libraries, the August Wilson Center and other groups — created the “One College, One Community” program to promote literacy while encouraging public dialogue. To accomplish these goals, organizers have arranged nearly three dozen city and suburban gatherings at high schools, public libraries and even a state prison.

The talks are centered around Ernest Gaines’ acclaimed novel “A Lesson Before Dying.” Set in the days of the Jim Crow South, it explores a bond that develops between two African Americans — one an uneducated 21-year-old man wrongly sentenced to the electric chair for a murder he did not commit, and the other a teacher asked by the doomed man’s godmother to teach him how to die like a man.

Along with obvious questions of race and justice, the book and a movie it inspired explore themes ranging from personal transformation to community to religion.

“That’s the beauty of it,” said Barbara Evans, associate dean of academic affairs on CCAC’s South Campus, and the program’s overseer. “The book was set in the 1940s, but it deals with issues people are still dealing with today.”

    Front page, no less.
