Canada’s Moral Clarity

by Eliana ( 106 Comments › )

The Canadian government has announced that Canada will boycott Durban III in September 2011.

Carl in Jerusalem is spot on in his remarks about what is going on in Canada:

Once upon a time, the United States could be counted on for moral clarity and to act as the World’s conscience. With President Obama’s attack on American exceptionalism, those days are now gone, and the burden of acting as the World’s moral compass has fallen to other countries. Take Canada, for instance.

On Thursday, the government of Prime Minister Stephen Harper did what any morally sensitive country ought to have done, but which no other country did: The Canadian government announced that it will not participate in Durban III, the 10th anniversary commemoration of the violently anti-Semitic Durban conference, to be held alongside the UN General Assembly meeting in September 2011 in New York.

Canada’s reason for boycotting Durban III is moral clarity at its best:

“Canada is clearly committed to the fight against racism, but the Durban process commemorates an agenda that actually promotes racism rather than combats it.”

While President Obama strives to isolate Israel around the world, Canada is fighting back -- for Israel!

Here is Canada’s Prime Minister Stephen Harper supporting Israel in the way that America can’t while Barack Obama is president:

Canadian PM: I Will Defend Israel ‘whatever the cost’

In October, Canada was voted down for a seat on the United Nations Security Council due to Canada’s bold and unique support for Israel in today’s world.

America didn’t help Canada win the UNSC seat and it appears that “Lazy Susan” Rice didn’t even vote.

Only a few years ago, the American ambassador here would have made a public issue in defense of Canada. But in the maneuvering leading to today’s vote, American diplomats were all but absent.

Support for Israel Costs Canada Seat on U.N. Security Council

Thank you and G-d bless you, Canada.

I hope you all had a happy Thanksgiving. It looks like the US will protest holding the conference in New York in the same month we commemorate the 10th anniversary of 9/11. They intend to stick it in America’s eye. Obama’s denigration of and apologies for America have the opposite affect he intended, our enemies sense weakness and become bolder. (Unless that was his intention, as many here believe.)

  6. 6 | November 26, 2010 1:42 pm

Actually, we were a voice of condemnation for Durban I, did not participate in Durban II, and continue to call out the UN on the anti-semitism in its ranks. Still makes me proud to be Canadian to here stuff like this though.

‘An attack on Israel would be considered an attack on Canada’

February 16, 2010 – Junior Foreign Affairs minister Peter Kent is suggesting Canada stands ready to throw its full military weight behind Israel, telling a Toronto publication that “an attack on Israel would be considered an attack on Canada.”

His office says Mr. Kent, the minister of state for Foreign Affairs of the Americas, was merely “paraphrasing” what Stephen Harper has said in the past regarding Israel.

“It’s not too far from what the [Prime Minister] has said,” Norm McIntosh, Mr. Kent’s chief of staff, told The Globe.

But the junior minister’s statement would appear to be evidence that the Harper government is shifting to an ever more solidly pro-Israel stance.

Mr. McIntosh declined to confirm whether this means that Canada would automatically declare war on an aggressor that attacked Israel.

In an interview published in Shalom Life, dated Feb. 12, Mr. Kent said: “Prime Minister Harper has made it quite clear for some time now and has regularly stated that an attack on Israel would be considered an attack on Canada.”

Mr. McIntosh pointed to Mr. Harper’s statements from May, 2008, marking the 60th anniversary of Israel, where the Prime Minister said: “Our government believes that those who threaten Israel also threaten Canada, because, as the last world war showed, hate-fuelled bigotry against some is ultimately a threat to us all, and must be resisted wherever it may lurk.”

“In this ongoing battle, Canada stands side-by-side with the State of Israel, our friend and ally in the democratic family of nations,” Mr. Harper said. “We have stood with Israel even when it has not been popular to do so, and we will continue to stand with Israel, just as I have always said we would.”

    @ NoThreat2U:

Yes the world is evil. Evil is inherent in human nature. One reason they jump on Israel is because they are perceived as weak. My biggest gripe with Israel is that they are too nice and want acceptance from the world. If Israel decided to be bad fight wars without mercy and assassinate its overseas critics, they would be feared and respected.

America is another nation no one respects.

The world respects brutality and strength. That’s why Russia and China are respected and no one messes with them.

At the rate we’re going we aren’t going to have allies. From the link in the article:

Canada’s increasing ties with Israel and its defense of Jerusalem have cost it a seat on the United Nations Security Council, diplomats here are saying after days of maneuvering by Arab countries, Brazil, and Cuba in which the United States had nearly disappeared.

Canada’s failure to capture a seat on next year’s Security Council will break a tradition in which America’s northern neighbor has been elected to the most prestigious United Nations body in every decade since 1948.

Palestinian propaganda is readily accepted by the MSM. Do a google search on “settler runs over Palestinian kid” and try and find the truth amongst all the lies. Here is the truth. They stage these situations where they hope someone gets hurt or killed and then the lies fly all around the world. Even when proven a hoax the lies still outnumber the truth 100 to 1. On the tenth anniversary of the al Dura hoax Charles Enderlin, the Israel bureau chief of the France 2 television network that first ran with that lie, just published a book about it; Un Enfant est Mort (A Child is Dead) that has become a bestseller in France and the winner of the Prix Gondecourt literary prize.

Israel has several allies, the main ones include USA, UK, Germany, Italy and India. Amongst others are CANADA, China and Czech Republic. While, USA is the biggest ally, India is fast emerging as the second biggest strategic partner. Do the math..We have 195 Countries on our globe. Only 8 are strong allies of Israel. That is about 4%. But, on the flipside of the coin. The allies that Israel does have can kick some ass.

    Rodan wrote:

I agree, the PR war is one they can’t win so they shouldn’t even try. However you forget that when you say “Israel” you have to include the Israeli left. It seems to me that they are trying to destroy Israel more than our left is trying to destroy America. Caroline Glick has an article on “The Rise of the Suicide Protests” that discusses how Israeli leftist are promoting protests in the hopes of someone getting hurt or killed.

But in the past few months, beginning around the time the Obama administration began pressuring Israel to curb its sovereignty in Jerusalem, things have begun to change. Leftist groups including Peace Now, Ir Amim, B’Tselem, the Association for Civil Rights in Israel, Rabbis for Human Rights, and Emek Shaveh have begun organizing frequent protests.

According to Udi Ragones, the spokesman for Ir David, the various leftist groups collaborate openly with two Arab groups that have been formed over the past year: Silwannet and the Wadi Hilweh Information Center. Peace Now’s Hagit Ofran is often seen working with Jawad Sayam from the information center. One of the information center’s employees also works for Emek Shaveh, an organization of anti-Zionist archaeologists.

It was the Wadi Hilweh Information Center that organized the stone throwing ambush of David Be’eri and his son. Then they sold the story to the MSM of the evil settler who ran over two Palestinian kids on their way home from the Mosque. Israeli’s themselves are helping the Palestinian propagandists.

It is also seeking to take an ever more dominant role in border control issues, leaving its member states powerless to control migrant flows not only from other EU countries but from Asia and Africa too. (from your link)

See, that’s what happens when you give your power up to a so-called higher authority.

I want to see free countries leave the UN,then send them packing from NYC to some muzz sh*thole. We’d all be much happier.

The famous and symbolic Crusader who adorns our masthead will become the figurehead of the struggle to repatriate British sovereignty from a political project that has comprehensively failed.

Not the whole world, just the progressive left.

Muslim Genocide of Christians Throughout Middle East

    by Khaled Abu Toameh
    November 26, 2010
It is obvious by now that the Christians in the Middle East are an “endangered species.”

Christians in Arab countries are no longer being persecuted; they are now being slaughtered and driven out of their homes and lands.

Those who for many years turned a blind eye to complaints about the persecution of Christians in the Middle East now owe the victims an apology. Now it is clear to all that these complaints were not “Jewish propaganda.”

The war of genocide against Christians in the Middle East can no longer be treated as an “internal affair” of Iraq or Egypt or the Palestinians. What the West needs to understand is that radical Islam has declared jihad not only against Jews, but also against Christians….

The OBama debacles. Weak , naive, inexperienced. The let them eat cake president.

If you are a small time despot now it the time to entrench yourself. OBama will waltz away.

That dumb ass Shepard Smith needs to start chipping away at the Obama frailties.

If Barack Obama is in search of a fitting monument for his legacy, we Canadians, generous devils that we are, could sell him this. Apparently, it’s no longer being used for its intended purpose.
