The Toothpaste Bar is located somewhere in the NYC vicinity and I can only assume that the patrons and employees have nice smiles and fresh breath.

It’s located across the street from The Soap Bar, where everyone smells nice but there’s no cussing allowed… hell with that. As for me, I’d rather hang out in The Blogmocracy Rec Room, talking trash and pumping aluminum on The Overnight Open Thread.

Is that on the same block as the Douche Bar, where several LGF denizens hang out?

Speaking of The Cesspool, has anyone heard anything about this bomb that was discovered at an MLK day parade in Spokane, WA?
Chucky’s hyping it like it was the “most deadly bomb ever discovered in the US” or some sh** but I have not heard anything about the story elsewhere.

Google it. A number of websites have it covered, the FBI is still trying to track down the perp. The MLK Parade was rerouted at the last minute while they took care of a remote-controlled pipe bomb with shrapnel and t-shirts. It was placed on a concrete bus bench, with the apparent intention of directing the shrapnel at the paraders themselves. Lotta conjecture about white supremacist gangs.

    hey ya’ll

things that make you go hmmmmm ™
eerrrr no, this is a thing to make you go “OH S^#T!”

Was a crippling cruise ship “fire” and a mysterious “missile launch” late last year the work of a rogue Chinese Navy “sending a message” to President Barack Obama?

President Obama wrapped up his Asian junket with a trip to the G-20 summit in Seoul.

There, as Bloomberg reports, Obama “attacked China’s policy of undervaluing its currency.” Continuing its military metaphors, Bloomberg adds that the gathering was “marked by clashes.” Not without its own ammunition, China “took aim at the Federal Reserve’s monetary easing.”

Had the Chinese wanted to use more than words to show their ability to strip America of its creature comforts, they could not have chosen a more symbolic way than an EMP– electromagnetic pulse–attack on, say, a cruise ship like the Splendor.

As it happens, the Splendor lost its power early Monday, November 8, some 44 miles offshore and roughly 200 miles south of San Diego. No media report that I could find questioned the official “fire in the engine room” explanation. It may even be true.

Ya’ll remember that missle launch? I do
never thought there could be a connection to a cruise ship

    something to watch for…

We will have a better idea ofthepossible“China link” when the Carnival Splendor is examined closely and repaired in San Francisco next week. If the U.S. military keeps the undercarriage and repair work cloaked when the ship is raised to dry-dock, we will have our answer, won’t we?

One final nagging suspicion: While the narrative quoted above mentioned “noone was injured” in the cruise ship’s incident, I have found this article which says, in fact, one crew member died in the “fire incident.” This report quotes the Carnival company saying the ship’s damage is catastrophic and more than $11 million in cruise business has been lost.

Wouldn’t doubt Carnival’s statement. If they’re running on tight margins, a ship full of empty cabins out of commission indefinitely, and a big-ass repair bill…probably crushing their bottom line.

Never gave the EMP thing a thought…could be?

The Carnival Splendor cruise ship caught fire in its engine room near San Diego on Nov. 8 and lost its communication and propulsion abilities in the blaze.

would they not have some sort of battery backup?

I would say yes with the caveat..

Is it possible that a mission critical communications link could have been damaged by a fire that would also have disabled propulsion? I don’t know.

Definitely not an everyday occurrence and not out of the realm of possibility.

Will also add, just because you can’t or didn’t see it doesn’t mean it can’t or didn’t happen.

Right now there’s a spider crawling this thread searching for keywords and marking them for later inspection by a human being. Do I know this for sure? No. Is it likely? Maybe. Is it possible? Definitely.

A currently-active group that could be capable of such an act is the Black Bloc, the organized (heh) group of anarchists that makes a career of disrupting world trade confabs, like the G20 in Toronto last year, and the one a few years ago in Seattle.

I really wonder about the sanity of anyone living in the 21st century industrialized world who thinks anarchy is a good idea.

Many of them seem to think of themselves as more intelligent than the voting populace, and they want to disrupt The Machine. Anarchists are idealistic in that sense, but they are nothing more than lost children who desperately want to belong to a group. Gives them purpose, even though they’re not sure what’s gonna happen if they succeed.

I’ve had discussions with a couple of “techno-anarchists” recently.
    Are they intelligent? Yes.
    Are they mature? No.
Are they informed about history? No.
Are they informed about the likely results of anarchy? No.
Are they aware of probable repercussions of their actions? No.
Do they have alternative solutions? No.
    Do they want “change?” Yes.
Do they know what “change” they want? No.
Do they care about repercussions? No.

Shimon Peres’s wife, Sonya, dies at 87 in Tel Aviv
    By JPOST.COM STAFF
    01/20/2011 13:50

Born in the Ukraine in 1923, Sonya made aliyah four years later, married the future president in 1945; Peres making his way to his Tel Aviv home.

Sonya Peres passed away on Thursday, aged 87. She leaves behind her husband, President Shimon Peres, and three grown children, Tzvia, Yonatan and Nehemiah.

MDA was called to Peres’s Tel Aviv apartment to revive her, but were forced to pronounce her dead.

Sonya Peres, nee Gellman, was born in Poland in 1923, and made aliyah in 1927. Her parents worked and lived at the Ben Shemen Youth Village, where she met her future husband. He was in the grade above her.

In 1942, she enlisted in the British Army, where she served as nurse in an army hospital near Cairo. She was later made a truck driver for the British Army and drove across Europe several times.

Sonya and Shimon Peres were married in May, 1945, and were amongst the founders of Kibbutz Alumot.

Sonya Peres was known for being private, and did not go to many political events. She chose not to move to the Beit Hanassi in 2007, and the two have lived separately since then.

Donald Trump was on Fox and Friends. he spoke the truth, the reason Obama is becoming popular is becasue the GOP folded in the lame duck. They should NOT have agreed to the Tax Cut extension. What they should of done was let it expire, let taxes rise. Then when they take over Congress, propose real cuts and put Obama on the spot. Trump also says we should play hardball with China and stop being their sucker. He is speaking the truth unlike Palin, Romney, Gingrich and Huckabee who spout the same old GOP talking points.

Good MOrning, Blogmocracy! Today is nanother day in the Glorious Reign of Emperor Barack Hussein I, Pasha of the United States, and Defender of the Faith Ummah! To dy brings us not one but two Surrenders on the Presidentialfront. It seems that the Media lies about Sarah Palin being responsible for the Tucson shootings have done their job, and she is no longer a vialble candidate for President. This isn’t a surprise given the cowardly and supine way the Republican Establishment didn’t respond to these vile slanders. Well and good. We are going to allow the Democrats to choose our Presidential candidate again, and in the Dole/McCain format, he will lose graciously. The Republicans are complicit in this shit. They go along with the bullshit, like the proposed mixed seating during the State of the Union, while Democrats compare them to Nazis, slander them with blood libels accusing them of complicity in all manner of crimes, while the fucking GOP tries to be colliegial and *spit* bipartisan *spit*. Therer is no point. I am thoroughly disguested with the pussilanimous GOP. They have less balls that a steer. Sarah Palin is the only man in the fucking race for President. The emasculated eunuchs that are being presented as serious candidates for 2012 don’t have a collective testicle among them, and will not fight to win the Presidency. I am disgusted. One thing is sure. I have better things to do with my money that donate it to people who want to lose well. I’ll still hope tho hold the House, and even win the Senate, but if the Republicans aren’t even going to try to win the Presidency, I refuse to allow myself to try and do anything for them just so they can be nice to the motherfucking scum called Democrats. Politics is War. The Democrats know this. The Republicans think it is fucking tiddlywinks.

I believe that when he makes his positions know (if he does), then he will be shown to be a regional candidate with only appeal in New York and surrounding areas. You can’t win the Presidency with just New York. If you could, the Dems would have a lock on the Presidency, because no Republican, not even Trump, can win New York.

    @ Rodan:
Sorry; I just don’t think a thrice bankrupt, casino-owning game show host is the sort of person that I want for my president. He could be a valued economic adviser, but not the Chief.

    @ Iron Fist:

Did you not listen to this interview?

He was on Fox and freinds talking about issues.

Listen to that interview and get back to me.

Not quite the case there. A Republican can win in NY, but as I understand it, that Republican needs the backing of the Conservative Party in order to win.

Fine then enjoy a 2nd Obama term or Bush Republican who will preside over America’s decline.

Trump is the only one who can restore us becasue he lives in reality, not theories.

    @ Morgan:

I’m more concerned about the possible candidates going into 2012.

They all suck! They repeat the same crap.

Got to go to work, see you guys in a half!

Once again, Rodan, that’s bullshit. Have a good day at work.

    @ huckfunn:

    very true

    @ Rodan:
I could see Trump a better fit in the Treasury department rather then running as president. I believe he’s a great capitalist, but I don’t see him as presidential material at all.

    @ Morgan:

Even if true (Did even Reagan win New York? He must have his second term), you can’t win the Presidency by appealing to one state, or only one segment of the Country. I’ve seen nothing to convince me that Trump has the potential to appeal to anyone outside of a narrow Demographic from the Liberal Northeast.

    @ vagabond trader:
Think of it as a pyramid mostly. The sides look square due to the construction method I used. It was just something I threw together with a basic idea of what it should look like and do.

Actually, Reagan won NY in ’84 – he lost only MN, Mondale’s home state.

I think that if the Republicans even consider Trump we are screwed. He’s a novelty candidate and I seriously doubt that he could ever hope to pass the extensive proctol exam that will be administered to whoever runs against Obama. Every decimal point of every business deal he has ever made will be scrutinized; I won’t go so far as to say he’s crooked, but he could very likely be “spun” as such by the media.

If Tucson has taught us anything, it’s that the press doesn’t really need any proof, all they need to do is infer an allegation. Does anyone doubt that there are some potentially “grey areas” in Donald Trump’s business career that could be “darkened” by the press?

Just go back to that media battle Trump and O’Donnell had about 3 and half years ago. Where she insinuated that he had gone bankrupt. Sure he fought back, but the allegation was there.

Understood, but I was referring to non-Presidential elections in NY. I’ve heard nobody running as a Republican can win an election to say Governor or the Senate without the backing of the Conservative Party.
