Does anybody know where this photo came from?

Where did the rescue take place? Who is the firefighter? What type of cat is this?

If the cat is, in fact, a Persian cat, most of them are pretty docile around humans. They were bred to be that way because their long hair needs regular brushing. AFAIK, Persian cats were also bred to be good rat-catchers, and their long hair protects them against rat bites.

That would depend on where the cat was in the building.

From personal experience, it would be extremely difficult to photoshop something with a “fuzzy” (literally) irregular border like this cat, in any sort of a convincing manner. I think the photo is most likely real. I also think that the cat is frightened and gasping for breath on account of the smoke, rather than angry.

Exactly. The integrated computer stuff that makes it awesome, is also an intentionally designed vulnerability.

Semi-related (Tomcat is germane to Caturday yes?)

Think back to the F-14′s we sold to Iran – they’re not much use without the spare parts to run ‘em.

And, from earlier last year…seems Iran thinks we still owe it an F-14.

Hardware runs on software. They may have the hardware, but we control the software…mostly.

Actually, this is relevant to my interests. Mrs. Brick was Dx Type 2 after some surgery this past November. The 200+ fasting and 400+ post prandials were the tip-offs. Duh.

Fast fwd to today – 80s-90s fasting and 120-130 post prandials. Actos and metformin levels already cut back once by the Endo, and ckup last week revealed excellent cholesterol and trigs. Said whatever you’re doing keep it up.

Changes were – no white diet (actually a lifestyle change so can’t really call it a diet) and c. 8oz red wine every evening before bed for the polyphenols. She got cleared this week to go back to the gym so we expect the trend to continue – hopefully next endo visit – will further reduce or eliminate meds.

It’s easy to spot. For one, if you look at the fur on the cat of it’s right side (left side in the pic) it’s much too long and fluffy and un-wet when considering the rest of the fur.
If you google images – fireman rescues cat russia – it’s the second image listed. The DU track puts this pic online fall of 2009. The russia track puts it online prior to Jan of 2006.

The original picture link on the Russian Livejournal site no longer works. If, indeed, the rescue took place in Russia, then the cat probably is a Siberian cat.

It appears from all indications that Iran will get what they want. Nukes. Forget the reports, they are full steam ahead. These Baal loving wackos are intent on bringing Islam/Iran into the ‘fraternity’ of nuke bearing states. When they have them and know they are able and ready, hell breaking loose will be only some term we used in the past.

Bad form to reply to myself, but there is another way. March into Mecca, and occupy it. Forever. Evict all the residents, and turn it into a ghost town, other than barracks for the occupying troops. Surround it with a minefield a mile deep, and make it so the only way in is via helicopter. Dig a tunnel under the kaaba, and plant a 15 megaton nuclear device there that can be fired at the push of a button in the Oval Office.

Then allow the muzzies to make their hajj there…for a price. “Yes, Achmed, you can make your hajj. $1000, cash on the barrel head, and you get your hour in the sacred precincts of the kaaba, our kaaba. It’s U.S. territory, Achmed, and we own it, and we own your ass, Achmed, and never forget it! Because if you forget it, you know whose finger is on the button, Achmed, and it ain’t yours, is it?”

The main reason we are leaning toward diabetes is because her paw will not heal. It has been getting this crusty infection for two years now. I take her in to get it cleaned, they give her antibiotics…they have even lasered a layer of tissue off of it. It still won’t heal. She is pushing 17 and I don’t really want her put under again. They have considered cutting the paw off, but I am not comfortable with that, especially at her age.

Wrath of G-d had a fine post about Mecca back when. It had to do with the ‘plight’ of the pallies and if everyone was really concerned about a right of return, then maybe those who want it should look at the history of Mecca.

    Thanks, Macker!

I’m a proud Canadian, but I know Canada simply isn’t capable of doing that sort of thing with the present state of our military, and our political culture.

Taking Mecca probably would not be tough, but holding it against all attempts to retake it would be.

Only the U.S.A. has the wherewithal to do such an audacious feat, and under the present Administration, they sure don’t have the political will for it.

No white diet? Does that mean no white sugar?
My wife is type 2 and thus my interest.

I’m not a doc so this is strictly anecdotal….

Yes. No white sugar, or sucrose derivatives. No white breads, or anything containing enriched white flour including PASTAS! :( Also, no potatoes, or potato derivatives. :(

I call it the caveman diet. If it wasn’t accessible to a cave-man to eat, it doesn’t go in the mouth. Thus..no ding-dongs, ho-hos, Hershey bars, Big Macs, KFC Double-Stackers, etc.

And, Splenda in place of sugar.

We also eat lots of fresh/cooked veggies – lots of meat :) chicken, turkey, 85/15 beef. sugar free puddings, nuts, and jellos for snacks.

Our food bill has gone up a bit, and I hate to admit it, I do feel better eating the same stuff Mrs. Brick eats – and it’s good moral support.

Our biggest help is regularly using her meter and keeping a record of what she ate. I did a quick Calc sheet on Open Office we input her scores into and can correlate scores with food ate that day, and when.

The glass of red wine each day seems to be supported here. And there were two articles I found both released before Thanksgiving this past year. Try googling red wine diabetes.

Seems to be working for us, although YMMV. Either way good luck and stay on top of it!
