Three  guys were sitting around bragging about the best bar they’d ever been to.

Gus: “The best bar? I know a place that for every beer you buy, the bartender gives you a free shot.”

Walter: “That’s nothing. In my neighborhood there’s a bar that does the same, and they have a free all-you-can-eat buffet, too.”

Killgore: “Heh. I know of a better place. Free dinner and all you can drink, and at 10PM they take you into the back room and you get laid.”

The other guys’ eyes got wide in disbelief. “No way. You’ve been there?”
Killgore: “No, but my sister has.”

Badump-Quiche. And with that we’re off and running on The Overnight Open Thread.

Now that the Arab countries are falling with Iran being the likely beneficiary of what will end up in these places, it’s a good time to put plans in place to bomb Iran.

Who said anything about Obama attacking Iran?

Obama doesn’t have the final say in this matter.

Everyone says no to Obama these days anyway and there isn’t a single thing he can do about it (especially after having lost the rest of the Middle East).

well this is a good bit of news

MotherJones reports that their sources have said that riot police have been ordered to clear protesters from the Wisconsin Capitol building at 2 AM. Protesters have been surrounding the Capital Building in recent days because of a budget battle and issues with workers unions. Wisconsin’s Democratic Senators have even fled the state to avoid the budget votes and protesting in the state.

Many of the Senators are suspected of hiding out in Chicago hotels, outside the reach of Wisconsin State Police.

I think you are right there. With the bunch that we have leading us now, Israel is on its own and will need to find the optimal strategic approach to preserving itself. Hopefully in a couple of years this will change, but right now the people in charge of foreign policy are alienating our allies and making us appear weak to our enemies. What a great combination [if you are trying to destroy a country from within].

    Exactly.

Obama has lost almost every trace of American influence in the Middle East, which means that Israel is alone with hundreds of nuclear weapons (and other kinds of weapons) aimed at the bad guys.

What’s Obama going to say that will stop Israel from doing what Israel feels the need to do to survive? He can’t say a word.

  38. Eliana
    39 | February 20, 2011 11:33 pm

All this time, Obama has been cranking up the Middle East for the worst war in world history.

    It’s getting very close now.

  39. 40 | February 20, 2011 11:37 pm

    @ Eliana:

How will Israel pull it off? The distance is far and Iran’s plants are inside mountains. It would take a sustain campaign to do this. Only the US, Russia or China have the means to do an air campaign of this magnitude.

If Israel strikes Iran, the pilots could be on a suicide mission. Hizballah and Syria will attack asap.

I want Iran hit, but Israel doesn’t have the means for a sustained 1 month campaign.

Israel is better off launching a pre-emptive war on Hizballah and Syria. Destroying them would hurt Iran.

Obama is a lodestone around Israel’s neck. He isn’t doing the rest of us any good either. Fool & she-wolf are only concerned about going to the cool parties and making money. Israel is stepping up all plans, I’m sure. The speed of these ‘protests’ and counter-protests makes me suspicious, but it’s all beyond my understanding. Easily controlled populations of poor countries are the norm in the Middle East. Any imam can work them up regularly.

Israel doesn’t have to attack the nuclear facilities at all (or at least not until later when they are completely defenseless).

If Israel attacks Iran, I believe Israel will aim for the leadership and Iran’s military capability. Why hit nuclear facilities and then wait to see what they do? Israel should hit the response first.

Hizballah and Syria will attack asap.

Syria’s Assad would probably die on the first day. He knows it. His palaces have been buzzed by Israeli fighter jets to let him know that Israel knows where he sleeps (no matter which palace he’s in).

Hezbollah also knows that they would go from controlling a country to controlling rubble while mostly dead (Hezbollah).

Israel is better off launching a pre-emptive war on Hizballah and Syria. Destroying them would hurt Iran.

    Iran is the biggest problem.

We don’t know what Israel has planned but they do know the difficulties. Israel fights like Israel fights, not like America would fight if they were the ones doing the fighting instead.

Mubarak said in an interview in 2002 that war with Israel is a trap.

When Iran is under pressure, they get Hezbollah to start a conflict with Israel to distract everyone.

It’s being speculated in Israel that Hezbollah will do the same thing soon.

Hezbollah needs to be demolished, but internal unrest won’t be enough to bring Iran down. They have other proxies that can start wars with Israel for Iran’s benefit, too.

By the way, Saudi Arabia is now saying that they will help Bahrain if necessary. Bahrain has a Shiite majority and this worries Saudi Arabia a lot.

MANAMA, Bahrain – Saudi Arabia on Sunday said it stands ready “with all its capabilities” to shore up Bahrain’s ruling royal family if a standoff with the Shiite-led opposition is not resolved soon, underscoring the kingdom’s deep concern about its neighbor’s ongoing political crisis.

Sunni-led Saudi Arabia props up Bahrain’s al-Khalifa family with cash and has long sought to prevent the tiny Persian Gulf state – with its majority Shiite population – from falling into Iran’s orbit. With dwindling oil resources, Bahrain relies heavily on Saudi Arabia for money and security.

Yes, I’m thinking Israel will end up doing something like this, too.

There’s no point in going after the nuke facilities and then seeing how Iran would respond. The Iranian responders should be eliminated first (and taking out Hezbollah at the same time would be a good idea, IMO).

What exactly is in the supply ship accompanying the warship? Is the warship to protect the supply ship? Or is the supply ship to aid the warship?

    Both are escalations and provocations.

    Yes, I know!

Israel didn’t do what people expected at the time and caught Egypt in particular with their pants down.

Egypt, of course, lied to Jordan about being victorious against Israel so Jordan jumped in to join the fun (despite Israel’s warning to stay out of it).

The Yankees win a disproportionate amount of games and series because they have the deepest pockets and hire the best talent.

The talent has always been a very powerful force in Israel’s military defense.

The stories from Israel’s War of Independence make me laugh and cry at how Israel was able to do things that a tiny newborn country shouldn’t have been able to do with so little in the way of military equipment.

    @ Bunk X:

If Israel doesn’t need the money, I doubt the U.S. would be sending any.

It would be bad diplomacy (a very wrong message) if the U.S. gave Egypt and Jordan military aid without giving Israel military aid.

So it makes sense to keep it all going for the sake of keeping it all going, so to speak.

    @ Rodan:

So we are actually repaying Israel for lending us money.

Actually, Israel gets most of the aid money in the form of vouchers that are spent on goods from U.S. Defense contractors.

So the military aid to Israel stays in the U.S. economy.

Israel gets supplies, though, which are extremely helpful.

No doubt the US assistance is of tremendous value. I would argue it is a two way street and via Israel the US was able to develop and prove supremacy over front line Soviet weaponry. This is ongoing with front line Russian weaponry as well. Best value for money the military gets in my opinion. But that doesn’t diminish the value to Israel. It is a partnership.

    @ Rodan:

Some of the reason that the U.S. military aid has kept going to Israel is because it’s going to Egypt and Jordan.

It wouldn’t be the proper message if Israel stopped getting it while these other countries were getting it for making peace with Israel.

    Absolutely!

    It’s extremely helpful to Israel!

It’s a partnership and it’s an emotional support issue for a lot of people in the U.S. Congress to be giving Israel military aid.

Israel is very appreciative, but obviously, it becomes a more complicated issue when Obama is President because Obama thinks it makes him the boss of Israel and Egypt (also Jordan).

Bond transactions are also a two way street. The buyer gets a rate of return in what is considered the most risk free investment. The US benefits from the dollar being the reserve currency of choice.

The problems are the size of the debt and the trade imbalances.

    @ Eliana:

Rand Paul recently proposed cutting everyone off from foreign aid. I didn’t agree with his idea, but the Left tried a divide and conquer thing by claiming he wanted to cut off Israel. He wanted to cut off everyone because in his mind The US is broke. Then people were attacking him for being anti-Semitic. I didn’t like that attack since it lessons the meaning of the word and there are real anti-Semites out there. Talking about cutting off foreign aid is not in this category. Since when does the Washington Post care about Israel? It was so disingenuous that Flyover country did a post on it.

I’m going to do a Rodan doctrine post and the corner stone is having welled armed allies like Israel and others putting America’s enemies in their place.

Stay turned it will be very controversial!

    Controversial? Makes solid sense.

  174. 177 | February 21, 2011 3:13 am

Israel does own $32 Billion of our debt and that number is climbing. Most of the so called “Aid” to Israel is payment on the Interest and has been pointed out here is normally paid in vouchers that only spend in the US. Win/Win we duck the interest and they get the supply chain they need.

India and Israel are tighter than many people realize. Due to political squirming India cannot send troops to Israel for schooling. So they send them to the US (notably Ft Huachuca just seven miles from my front door) to UAV and Intelligence courses taught by Israeli Instructors! Three countries stay happy and India’s Diplomatic Corps has no questions to answer!

Of course the Treaty’s that make this happened were signed under Bush and Odubasses people would love to kill them but, will not try because they know that 67 votes ain’t gonna happen!

The Treaty life is long enough that Odumbass will not be able to touch them even if he gets four more years!

Good Morning Blogmocracy! Today is another glorious day in the Reign of Emperor Barack Hussein I, Pasha of the United States and Defender of the Faith Ummah! There are 624 Days Until the 2012 Presidential Election! Well, the world is certainly an interesting place today! Libya is in Chaos, and that couldn’t have happened to a more deserving dictator. Unlike Egypt,Libya really is a place where whatever replaces Kaddaffy Duck likely won’t be worse. We all forge tit, by Kaddaffy was well on his way to an atomic bomb when we captured Saddam Hussein in his spider hole. There are some fifty thousand tons of WMD related material he surrendered that is now over at Y-12. When people say the Iraq War accomplished nothing, remind them of that. Closer to home, the battle rages on in Wisconsin. The governor has called out the Danti-democratic Democrats who have fled the state rather than lose a vote as the cowards that they are. He can’t fire them, but I wish he’d fire the teachers that “sick out” and shut down the schools. They have shown that they are unfit to be educators. Are they setting an example for the Children™ that society finds acceptible? I guess that depends on whether you are a Prog or not. Finally, in Arts and Entertainment, I may have to dust off my joystick (:P) and get the latest First Person Shooter game to come along the pike. Bulletstorm looks to be extremely ientertaining. I just want to find out if it is skinnable. Then we could have a custom skin that skins the zombies as various Democrat thugs. Ah, the art value is high, and the entertainment priceless!

BEIJING – Jittery Chinese authorities staged a show of force to squelch a mysterious online call for a “Jasmine Revolution,” with hundreds of onlookers but only a handful of people actively joining protests inspired by pro-democracy demonstrations sweeping the Middle East.

Authorities detained activists Sunday, increased the number of police on the streets, disconnected some cell phone text messaging services and censored Internet postings about the call to stage protests in Beijing, Shanghai and 11 other major cities.

Police took at least three people away in Beijing, one of whom tried to place white jasmine flowers on a planter while hundreds of people milled about the protest gathering spot, outside a McDonald’s on the capital’s busiest shopping street. In Shanghai, police led away three people near the planned protest spot after they scuffled in an apparent bid to grab the attention of passers-by.

Many activists said they didn’t know who was behind the campaign and weren’t sure what to make of the call to protest

    Democracy, I squished it

As the crowd swelled and police urged people to move on, 25-year-old Liu Xiaobai placed a white jasmine flower on a planter in front of the McDonald’s and took some photos with his cell phone.

“I’m quite scared because they took away my phone. I just put down some white flowers, what’s wrong with that?” Liu said afterward. “I’m just a normal citizen and I just want peace.”
