Cat’s amazingly cute encounter with dolphins becomes Internet sensation

(h/t savages_girl)

By: Pete Thomas, GrindTV.com

Recently-posted video footage showing a cat’s incredibly cute encounter with dolphins at a marine park in Islamorada, Fla., is touching the hearts of viewers from around the world. The playful bonding between a cat named Arthur and dolphins named Thunder and Shiloh occurred in the late 1990s at Theater of the Sea, during the facility’s swim-with-dolphins program. The footage, showing Arthur rubbing his head against and lovingly pawing the slender snouts of the sleek mammals, has gone viral since being uploaded to the Internet last month.

Beverley Osborne, then a dolphin trainer and now curator at Theater of the Sea, said Arthur was one of the facility’s many house cats and used to look forward to the swim programs and the arrival of dolphins and guests at the shoreline floats. “That was his area and he was there for every program,” Osborne recalled. “He’d walk toward the dolphins when they’d arrive but the dolphins would come over to him, too. But he was very friendly with Thunder and Shiloh during that particular session.”

These cat/dolphin encounters took place in the late 1990s and evidently Arthur is no longer living. It would’ve been great to see this in person.

That drew this response from New York Congressman Charles Schumer, “When people from Paris, Beijing, Tokyo and Amsterdam start saying they want to go to Houston, maybe then they’ll get a shuttle. I’d say to Texas, don’t mess with New York.”

    Kitties and dolphins!

    Very sweet together!

There’s a video out there about a deer who is guarding a goose nest because the mother goose’s partner died (and geese mate for life). The deer protects the nest and the mother isn’t chasing him off.

    @ Rodan:

When I was a kid, one of my cousins liked animals so much that he would absolutely scream in excitement when he got close to one -- and he was only 7 months old at the time. He would go absolutely wild. :-)

At 7 months old, he didn’t even have teeth yet. He couldn’t quite crawl (he scooted on the floor and rolled) -- yet he knew that animals were different from people and he would go insane with happiness when he saw one.

I’m not sure that the animals enjoyed his ear-piercing happiness screams, but they knew his intentions were good so they didn’t flee from him.

    It was very cute!

It is important to have kids around animals. It teaches them compassion. If they are mean to critters, they usually grow up to be heathens and brats.

Yes -- it’s a good sign when a child totally loves animals and treats them well.

I think that many or most serial killers get their starts with the torture and killing of animals at some point.

Once, I was babysitting for an hour while a friend of mine went to a quick appointment. I had the one year old baby drinking a bottle on my couch.

My kitten sat above the baby on top of the back rest -- she couldn’t take her eyes off him (and not simply because he was drinking milk). She watched every move he made.

It was kind of a baby-watching-baby thing. She was fascinated with him for the entire hour that he was with us.

When it comes to the “Palestinians” in particular, the Arab world tends not to donate to the “Palestinian Authority” because they know that the money is stolen.

The other day, the “PA” asked western countries for another $5 billion so that they can unilaterally declare a state. They didn’t ask the Arab world for it because the Arab world knows better.

The “Palestinians” themselves feel the same way.

This whole unilateral statehood thing is a ruse to get concessions from Israel that would make it impossible for Israel to survive as a Jewish state.

Last season the stadium was generic and the players were generic but now the stadium shown in the background is a rendering of the actual stadium where the game is being played. And the batter is wearing the uniform of the offensive team. And the renderings are a bit more life-like. It looks pretty good.

Very interesting. I have not made up my mind, am still researching and reading.

I think that if it was you that I read on an earlier comment that you were disappointed that Perry wasn’t running -- don’t -- from someone that has had him as a governor, he is a RINO. I think TFK shares that opinion.

I know that I don’t want the re-run of all the names we have had in the past 20 years. I need a fresh, new face (politically speaking, age doesn’t really matter). I think that is what appealed to ALL Americans with the “Hope and Change” campaign. I like Herman Cane and Allen West. Two reason -- 1st, they speak what I believe. 2nd, I think that the argument that the BIG -0- will get all the minority votes, putting a black (or any minority) into the mix will just confuse the D’s base. Not being racist anymore than they are, but I would rather have Cain or West than the big -0- for another four years. Hell, I would rather have either one of them than a lot of the “R’s” currently declared running. JMHO

I don’t think it is time for a female US President. Not now (but not never). I like Bauchman (sp) and Palin, but just don’t think it is the right time.

I like the Trump attraction, but not sure with his foreign policy. I think he does have leadership abilities, but so did Perot. I think that, we as conservative, in the belief that we want to preserve the US of our forefathers -- the upcoming elections are very, very important and we should consider a lot before making up our minds.

Sorry so long and not preaching, just a tad bit scared and on the cautious side.

I am also talking out loud to myself. To me it is a very scary time in the US/World right now and just think that a lot of thought and pray needs to go into the decisions that are made in the near future.

    @ Dolphin:

but not sure with his foreign policy.

That’s one of the reasons I back him. He is tired of us being played for fools. He fells our rich allies should pay us to defend them. That we should not let China take advantage of us. Trump wants to put the Arabs in their place and called Islam violent. He says if we go to war, it should be total war and we should seize resources to pay ourselves back.

He wants America to be feared and respected again.
