Lawmakers Call for U.S. to Cut Off Aid to Palestinians After Hamas-Fatah Announcement

by huckfunn ( 115 Comments › )

Well, gee… it’s about time. Take note that the call to cut off aid isn’t coming from the U.S. Snake Department. Lawmakers Call for U.S. to Cut Off Aid to Palestinians.

Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle are calling for the U.S. government to cut off aid to the Palestinians after the government in the West Bank reached a tentative unity agreement with Hamas, a U.S.-designated terror group.

The calls from top-ranking members of Congress were laced with warnings that the U.S. risks financing terrorist operatives if aid continues. Significantly, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairwoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, R-Fla., noted that a 2006 law conditions U.S. aid on the requirement that its Palestinian recipients renounce violence and recognize Israel’s right to exist.

Those requirements were fulfilled when aid was going to the Palestinian Authority, controlled by the West Bank-based Fatah. But rocket-firing Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip, does not abide by those conditions.

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

    April 28, 2011
    Contact: Angela Sachitano
    Communications Director
    (202) 731-1778

Congressman West statement on Unity Government between the Palestinian Authority and Hamas

(Washington)— Congressman Allen West (FL-22) released this statement today:

“Yesterday’s announcement by the Palestinian Authority of the formation of a unity government comprised of Fatah and Hamas is deeply troubling. This united front only adds to the overall unrest and instability in the Middle East and is a first step in the unilateral declaration of a Palestinian state.

Any government in which Hamas – a terrorist organization whose charter calls for the destruction of Israel – plays a role, should not receive one dollar from the United States.

This announcement signals that President Abbas has chosen Hamas over peace with Israel, America’s strongest ally in the Middle East. Make no mistake, Israel is under attack from an enemy that will stop at nothing until the State of Israel is destroyed, the same enemy that also wants nothing more than to see the United States defeated and diminished.

The United States must remain firm in our commitment to the peace and security of the Jewish State and cease all funding to the Palestinian Authority immediately.”

Obama may have no choice in this because it’s illegal in America to fund Hamas. If Fatah and Hamas truly join forces, Obama can’t really ask Israel to make concessions to the “Palestinians” anymore either.

The Oslo Accords are dead (as well they should be) and it sounds like this death may be on the way to becoming official.

I think you’ll be surprised about what Obama will do. Little matters like court orders and the law are beneath him. The only thing that counts is his Will to Power. Scary, ain’t it?

SAN ANTONIO (AP) — A federal judge sentenced a Somali man to 10 years in prison for failing to acknowledge ties to two global terrorist groups after he was arrested near the Texas-Mexico border in 2008, the U.S. Justice Department said Thursday night.

Ahmed Muhammed Dhakane, 25, prompted the Department of Homeland Security to issue an alert in May 2010 asking Houston-area authorities to be on the lookout for a suspected member of al-Shabaabp, an al-Qaida ally based in Somalia. That warning came when two new charges of lying on a U.S. asylum application were filed against Dhakane, who had been arrested on immigration charges in Brownsville, across the Rio Grande from Matamoros, Mexico, in March 2008.

Dhakane pleaded guilty on Nov. 2 to two counts of lying on his asylum application, and the Justice Department said in a statement that he failed to acknowledge he had been a member of, or associated with, al-Barakat and Al-Ittihad Al-Islami, from prior to Sept. 11, 2001, until January 2003.

Al-Barakat is a financial transfer network; Al-Ittihad al-Islami, or the Islamic Union, wants to impose Islamic law in Somalia. Both are on the U.S. Treasury Department’s list of global terrorist groups with links to al-Qaida, according to the indictment against Dhakane

    .

Dhakane also lied about his traveling partner, a minor he claimed was his wife. The Justice Department said she was actually a smuggling client, that the pair were never married, and that Dhakane repeatedly raped and eventually impregnated her prior to traveling to the U.S. He also threatened to have her killed if she told authorities he had raped her, and that they were never married, according to the statement.

Citing a Justice Department memo and other documents it obtained, the San Antonio News-Express reported in March that federal officials believed Dhakane helped “violent jihadists” from East Africa sneak through Mexico and into Texas.

Nothing to see here, move along folks.

Yeah, but if I were a betting man, that is what I’d bet on. The reason we get the Senate is that the Democrats up for election in Republican States will be replaced, but whomever our nominee is won’t take enough states to win. We need another Reagan, but I don’t see him or her. The GOP establishment has killed (or mostly killed) Sarah Palin, and I think she was the only person who could realistically have beaten Obama. You need someone with a compelling story, someone with Star power. Palin could have been that if the Establishment hadn’t decided they’d rather have four more years of Obama than eight of Sarah.

I think those disruptions are orchestrated, however the good thing is that it allows West to shine.

Make Obama play defense this time. his inherent nastiness comes out when he is on the defensive and that only helps us.

Hmm…looks like the project I was working on at my mom’s house is done.

I was working on getting an eBook she wrote into Kindle format for her so Amazon could sell it.

It’s actually a surprisingly easy process.

The keynote speaker Saturday night is Mike Huckabee.

If you want to see the exhibit hall, you can. You can buy an “associate membership” that’s good for the weekend at the door for something like $10.

It’s pretty interesting. Biggest trade show I’ve ever seen.

I consider it a serious possibility. We are going to become insolvent, and when that happens, the Federal Government will cease to operate. All those millions of drones who suck off the public tit will not “work”‘ for free. Nor will the military function, nor the interstates be repaired, or any of the other legitimate functions of the Federal Government be executed. It will be interesting, that is for sure.

It’s the combination of the two that gets you the Muslim Brotherhood.

There is nothing wrong with democracy. People usually get what they deserve. Free choice, allows for bad choices also

I was not saying that democracy (or, more properly, a republic) was bad, but rather, that Islam causes democracy to disappear.

Problem is, shari’a law effectively forbids democracy. Adherents to shari’a law feel compelled by their backward 7th century mentality to use the popular sovereignty that they enjoy under the democracy to vote away their own liberties and to transform the democracy into a theocratic dictatorship under shari’a law.

Yes, democracy allows people to make bad choices. Adherence to Islam makes those bad choices inevitable.
