Al-Qaeda and Hamas: Ideological twins

Yesterday Hamas condemned the killing of Osama Bin Laden. While this may shock International Progressives, it doesn’t those of us who have studied Jihad. both Hamas founder, Sheikh Ahmed Yassin and Al-Qaeda’s Osama Bin Laden had the same mentor, Abdullah Azzam. In the 90′s Hamas was trained by Al-Qaeda in the Sudan and Afghanistan. Although they officially keep their distance from Al-Qaeda, behind the scenes they have ties. Both are offshoots of the Muslim Brotherhood and are Salafalist in doctrine. Their disagreement is who to fight. Al-Qaeda wants to fight a global Jihad, Hamas wants to focus on Israel first. But both want a Caliphate. They are Brothers and this fact needs to get out.

While most of the world celebrates the U.S. military operation that killed al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden in Pakistan, the sentiment is not unanimous. In the Gaza Strip, Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh has condemned the United States, accusing Washington of assassinating a “Muslim and Arabic warrior” and the “continuation of the American oppression and shedding of blood of Muslims and Arabs.”

Haniyeh’s reaction underscores the ideological roots Hamas and al Qaeda share: Hamas was founded by Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, a prominent Palestinian Muslim Brotherhood figure; al Qaeda was cofounded, along with bin Laden, by Abdullah Azzam, another prominent Palestinian Muslim Brotherhood figure.

[...]

The operational ties were confirmed a decade later, when bin Laden reportedly sent emissaries to Hamas on two separate occasions (September 2000 and January 2001). While most analysts believe Hamas rejected al Qaeda’s offer to coordinate violence against Israel, it appears Hamas never closed the door. In 2002, the Washington Post quoted official U.S. government sources as confirming a loose alliance “between al-Qaeda, Hamas, and Hizbullah.”

Read the rest: The Hamas-al Qaeda Alliance

Hizb’Allah and Al-Qaeda have fought side by side on several occasions. In Bosnia the two organizations were on the verge of defeat at the hand of Serb forces until rescued by NATO/Croatian forces in Operation Storm. In 1996 they both did a combined attack on the Khobar Towers in Saudi Arabia. Members of Hizb’Allah have been killed in Pakistan meeting with Al-Qaeda and Taliban agents. In 2006 members of Al-Qaeda fought in South Lebanon on the side of Hizb’Allah against Israel. So if a 12ther Shiite and Salafalist Sunni group can work together, so could two Muslim Brotherhood based organizations.

The Hamas and Al-Qaeda connection needs to be mentioned to those seeking to force Israel to create a peace treaty with the Palestinians. Would America negotiate with a government that had members of Al-Qaeda in it? Well, we are helping them in Libya so maybe the Hamas links with AQ will not matter. Hamas and Al-Qaeda are ideological brothers in arms and this fact needs to get out!

Note: We will have a special Radio show on the killing of Bin Laden at 9:00 PM EST.

    Absolutely!

Fatah’s Al-Aksa Martyrs Brigade (on Mahmoud Abbas’ payroll) are saying today that the killing of ObL is a “catastrophe.”

This is the same word they use for the founding of Israel. It’s called a “Naqba” and Fatah’s Al-Aksa Martyrs Brigade are ALSO calling it a “Naqba” that Bin Laden is dead.

They’re vowing to find new blood to keep the armed struggle going, of course.

They’re paid to do this by Mahmoud Abbas. They’re also one of the groups that fires rockets into Israel from Gaza.

A Senior US Official tells CNN 10 hard drives, 5 computers and more than 100 storage devices which includes discs, DVDs and thumb drives were taken from the compound.

The senior us official also says the White House received 3 sets of photos yesterday. The photos included:

    1. Photos of OBLs body at a hanger after he was brought back to Afghanistan. This is the most recognizable with a clear picture of his face. The picture is gruesome because he has a massive open head wound across both eyes. It’s very bloody and gory.

    2. Photos from the burial at sea on the USS Carl Vinson. Photos of OBL before the shroud was put on and then wrapped in the shroud.

    3. There are photos of the raid itself that include photos of the two dead brothers, one of OBLs dead son (adult adolescent, maybe approx 18 yrs old) and some of the inside scene of the compound.

The official says the challenge is that the picture that includes the most recognizable image of OBLs face – from the hangar in Afghanistan – is so gruesome and mangled its not appropriate for say the front page of the newspaper. On the other hand, this is the one that is most identifiable as him.

Hamas and al-Qaeda – blood brothers.

  12. 12 | May 3, 2011 2:29 pm

    @ Eliana:

Both organizations consider Abdulah Azzam a founder. Hamas has a wing called the Abdullah Azzam Brigade.

  13. 13 | May 3, 2011 2:30 pm

    @ Speranza:

Both come from the same root: The Muslim Brotherhood.

By the way, May 15th is the day that the various Facebook Intifada pages have asked the “Palestinians” to start the Third Intifada.

It’s “Naqba Day” (the anniversary on the Gregorian Calendar of Israel’s declaration of independence / statehood).

Israel itself goes by the Hebrew calendar to celebrate Israel’s Independence Day. This way, Muslims would have to follow the Hebrew calendar if they wish to observe “Naqba Day” on the same day that Israel celebrates independence each year.

The Hebrew calendar combines the lunar and solar year by using leap MONTHS instead of leap days. It all works perfectly, though, and it means that all Jewish holidays occur within a six week Gregorian calendar window in their proper time of year / seasons.

Right – after all, they only perpetrated around half of the 150+ suicide bombings in Israel.

They’ve been paid billions and billions for these suicide bombings. They’ve brought the world to them to press for peace because of their mass murders (which the world sees as morally equivalent to Jewish homes being built).

    It’s an abominable situation.

Not necessarily. She certainly would have been ticked if this occurred during the previous administration.

She’s also lying (or ignorant) about how we got the information:

Feinstein: Information That Led to Bin Laden Didn’t Come from Enhanced Interrogation

The debate over what role controversial war on terror techniques played in the killing of Osama bin Laden is fully joined now. Yesterday, House Homeland Security Chairman Peter King told Bill O’Reilly, with no real doubts.

You mentioned the fact that we obtained information several years ago, vital information about the courier for Osama. We obtained that information through waterboarding. So for those who say that waterboarding doesn’t work, who say it should be stopped and never used again, we got vital information which directly led us to bin Laden.

Today, in a wide-ranging press conference, the chairwoman of the Senate Intelligence Committee said this wasn’t true. Dianne Feinstein, who’d been briefed on exactly what happened on Sunday in Pakistan, said the breakthrough did not come from information gleaned at Gitmo or through enhanced interrogation — ie, waterboarding.

“To the best of our knowledge,” she said, “based on a look, none of it came as a result of harsh interrogation techniques.”

the longer that 0 extends the bin laden story (waiting to release the photos a few days, going on 60 minutes on sunday) the sooner this will blow up in his face.

a real prez would have released all of it at the same time, made a statement and then drive on to the next issue

eventually, someone on the rigth is going to say: ‘you did your job, so what?’

Popular NFL Running Back Defends bin Laden: ‘We’ve Only Heard One Side’

PITTSBURGH (The Blaze/AP) — Rashard Mendenhall has created a stir with comments made on his official Twitter page regarding Osama bin Laden’s death. The Pittsburgh Steelers running back on Monday tweeted: “What kind of person celebrates death? It’s amazing how people can HATE a man they have never even heard speak. We’ve only heard one side…”

Mendenhall didn’t hold back, even making a reference to the Sept. 11 attacks.

“We’ll never know what really happened. I just have a hard time believing a plane could take a skyscraper down demolition style.” That tweet, however, has since been deleted.
