Progressives use Gabby Giffords as a publicity stunt

Progressives love victim-hood. They thrive on it and manipulate people who have had tragic incidents in their life. Whether it is Carolyn McCarthy using her husband’s death on the LIRR back in 94 to win a House seat in Long Island, NY or Charles Johnson’s use of the Norway shooting as some form of vindication against the anti-Jihad, the left loves tragedy.

In the latest stunt, Progressives of both parties brought back Gabby Giffords (D-Arizona) to vote on the debt ceiling increase. She was shot in the head and was still in recovery.  However, the Progressive bi-partisan elite used her as a prop to shame other members into voting for this bill. They even let Gabby Gifford get the final vote as a symbol of bi-partisanship.

Democratic Rep. Gabrielle Giffords of Arizona made a surprise return to Washington Monday to vote in favor of an agreement to raise the debt limit.

”The #Capitol looks beautiful and I am honored to be at work tonight,” she said in a Tweet.

Lawmakers offered Giffords a standing ovation on the House floor when she showed up for the vote. After it was completed, House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi said Giffords’ name inspires the love and admiration of Americans and called the lawmaker the “personification of courage.”

“Thank you, Gabby,” Pelosi added. Giffords, her hair short, waved and thanked members as they applauded the sentiment.

This was a disgusting stunt. Speaker John Boehner, Nancy Pelosi and Barack Hussein Obama clearly coordinated this.  Gabby Giffords was used as a political prop to show some bi-partisan unity. Clearly she hasn’t fully recovered, but this doesn’t matter to our elites. They have no shame and will use any tragedy to their advantage.

That’s the Progressive way!

    They are shameless.

    @ Speranza:

Absolutely. The Democrats are a party without shame. With no principals except an overweening lust for power for the sake of power. That they are restrained (to the extent they are restrained) by the Constitution is the only thing that has spared us dictatorship before now.

we were supposed to tone down the rhetoric after her getting shot…

well, that really means just tone it down on the right because now, the tea party and fiscons are ‘terrorists’.

tea party terrorist is the new marching order on the left…the latest mantra. way to tone it down dems!

    They hauled out
a frail and fragile woman who wasn’t even able to speak. Just wave and barely stand up. She almost fell once. I’m not sure she even knows what exactly is going on.
Bringing her out is a reminder of how violent the Tea Party is, since the left and mfm attacked and blamed us for the horrible shooting spree.
She was shamefully used as a pawn.
The left will stop at nothing to achieve their goals.

I for one would like to know how Giffords’ doctors felt about this stunt. I mean, I could almost see it if it was like the Health Care (shudder) vote – where they needed every single vote. But this? Wasn’t this supposed to pass the house with a decent margin?

And this is for Nancy Pelosi, who I am sure hatched this idea. Yes, she has incredible courage, Madam Ex-Speaker. I’m surprised a cruel useless bitch like you can recognize it.

  37. 37 | August 2, 2011 1:01 pm

    @ Rodan:

I would imagine the heartless bastards of the commie left haven’t bothered to check with her medical professionals as to whether or not it’s even advisable for her to mount a campaign to keep her seat in the House, have they? Much less a campaign for statewide office.

Which probably means she’ll be groomed to take Kyl’s seat, since McCain doesn’t have to run again until 2014. Unless Kyl’s up in 2012, in which case they may have a problem. Sure, Ms. Giffords is to be given complete credit and “brava” for her fortitude, but there are serious problems in this country right now and Arizona should not waste one of its Senate seats so that they can have the warm and fuzzies for two days after the general election.

The majority of the left have no capacity for simple humanity. Every move is calculated, despite how low, with some expectation of gain.

Their depravity knows no bounds. There are no bounds with them if it fits their means to an end.

What do you say? What does it change? They are the scum of the earth, and are ready to exploit any situation, scenario, or individual for political points.

asshole punk boy mike doyle (d-pa) got hammered this morning on the local media.

angry folks were in his office today, his phones were clogged with calls. email was avalanched. so this is how punk-assed-bitch-boy apologizes:

If only he’d said “hostage-takers” instead of “terrorists.”

U.S. Rep. Mike Doyle, D-Forest Hills, said he wasn’t comparing Tea Party members with terrorists when he used the word during a closed-door caucus meeting Monday, but was expressing frustration at President Obama’s negotiating tactics, which he said gave in too quickly to GOP demands in the debt ceiling debate.

“Had I simply said hostage-taker, there wouldn’t be this reaction. I certainly wasn’t out to defame anybody,” said Doyle, who couldn’t recall the exact statement he made. “I wasn’t talking about the Tea Party. I was talking about the tactic (of) telling us if we don’t go along with this bad deal, they’re going to blow the economy up.”

  73. 74 | August 2, 2011 2:14 pm

    OT:

I appologize for going off topic, and discussing something we already probably know, but I found this very interesting. AOL/HuffPo has a slideshow of “International Recognition: Controversies Around The Globe

The first slide is of Nagorno-Karabkh.

Never heard of them? Me neither, until now. Now this silence is quite interesting actually. Here is why: The present conflict was heightened at the end of WW1, and worsened as recently as the 1980s and 1990s. But here is the unfortunate kicker: “During the fighting, …between 20,000 and 30,000 people are estimated to have lost their lives” while “one million fled their homes“. Holy moley! approx 30,000 people were killed, and 1 million displaced and the World & UN are silent about it?

For the record, and I bet you all knew where this was going, the total deaths on all sides of the Arab-Israel Conflict (and its endless resolutions from the UN, etc.) from 1948-2009, according to Wiki is 9,481. (the figures are from BTselem so…. they are probably high).

Now back to the Nagorno-Karabkh. Main religion seems to be Christian.

The next region on the list is “Republic of Abkhazia“.

This conflict is also the result of the ending of the Soviet Union in the 1980s. During the fighting ALL, “200,000–240,000″ ethnic Georgians were ethnically cleansed. Nope? Never heard of this one either? As far as I can tell, the Abkahzia people don’t have observer status at the UN.

    Religion? Christian.

The next is: Sahrabi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR)

They claim sovereignty over the entire territory of Western Sahara, a former Spanish colony. SADR was proclaimed by the Polisario Front on February 27, 1976, and is in conflict with Morocco. Thus, despite their being occupied by a foreign entity, and all that comes with it Moroccan territorial integrity, apparently meaning including Western Sahara, is explicitly recognized by the Arab League. Morocco is, of course, Muslim. The UN does not recognize the SADR. Approx: 22,000 killed in conflict with over 80,000 displaced. (help verifying?)

The SADR seem to be Muslim, and you just might recognize their flag.

The next is Taiwan. Religion: mostly Buddhist. Deaths due to conflict are hard to tie down (Help anyone?) but it seems to be approximately 3-6 million.

Also on the list are the Republic of Kosovo – nearly all Albanian’s were ethnically cleansed/ Muslim state created? Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, “Palestine” (see above), Republic of South Ossetia – approx: 11,012 dead, and 39,000 displaced.

Again, For the record, and I bet you all knew where this was going, the total deaths on all sides of the Arab-Israel Conflict (and its endless resolutions from the UN, etc.) from 1948-2009, according to Wiki is 9,481. (the figures are from BTselem so…. they are probably high).

The Dems won this round so the economy is going to be outrageously bad when Obama runs for president again next November?

This is going to be a brutal year.

Hopefully this will end Obama’s reign, though.

    @ Bumr50:

That would be the tax cheat known as Little Timmy Geithner.

The Dems are absolutely swearing to do those job-killing tax increases.

They say that everyone needs to share the pain while they bring on more pain for everyone.

    Aren’t they just so sweet.

    Puke!

News flash… The sky has already fallen and landed like Mount Everest on everyone who isn’t a federal employe or parasite.

Oh hell, Reid’s already advising that failing to raise taxes in December will trip the “trigger.” Oh, and no fiscal conservatives, apparently, will get to serve on the Super Committee.

Keep it comin’ Democrats. You want to fix the tax code? Here it is. Fair tax. 5% on non food consumer purchases. Period. That way, that 49% of the populace that is soooo eager to impose more taxes on the other 51% would finally get some “skin in the game” – which is SO important to Jerk the Wonder Prez.

Oh, and Gold hit a new high and the Franc is surging. Good job, asshats.

It’s madness. When Putin is corerct about our economy, that should be a hint!

    @ Eliana:

That’s my take. The Democrats might have a phrric victory in all of this.

High Gold price = weak obama = weak economy = lack of confidence.

The only path to a healthy country is to elect more smart wise tea party candidates.

Any goper or dem that considers themselves rich and elite should be unelected.

@ 53 Formercorpsman: My mom voted for Obama last time because she wanted the wars to end. They didn’t. She will vote for Obama again this time because the GoP is threatening her medicaid and Social Security.

She’s an actual person who worked hard all her life, has some health problems now and surives on about $600 a month in social security and medicaid. She still has to make tough choices. Like living with a relative and sometimes paying most of her 600 a month for drugs. Even though she is on medicaid. Any small cut in assistance to her puts a real hardship on her.

The Gop needs to reform instead of cut. And reform in a way that the message to my mom is that she will get more help not less. They should be targeting programs people don’t understand well. They should be extending Federal employee benefits to start later and be less in $$$.

And they need to Trump the media. He showed them how to do it. Put Obama reeling and keep him spinning.
