Graffiti is illegal because it’s vandalism of private property. Reverse graffiti is selective cleaning, and everyone who ever wrote “WASH ME” on a dirty car has done it. Some folks have taken it a step further.

Alexandre Orion – Skulls in Sao Paolo
Hailing from Brazil, Alexandre sees his art work as a way of getting an environmental message across to those who ordinarily wouldn’t listen.

From the Utoobage description:

“Eventually, the authorities showed up and tried to determine what course of action they should take. They realized that they couldnt charge Orion with a crime, since he technically wasnt doing anything illegal. They subsequently made the decision to erase his masterpiece of a mural and clean that side of the tunnel. When Orion continued on the opposing side, city officials cleaned the entire tunnel, and every other tunnel in São Paulo. I think Orion got his point across.”

Sure, he’s got an environmentalist mindset, but you gotta admire the way he does something about it. He creates non-permanent public art that stands on its own until the city maintenance department does the job they’re paid to do.

And now it’s time for some washable internest graffiti on
The Overnight Open Thread.

Just who do they think is going to work for a ‘guaranteed living wage’ if they can make the same ‘living wage’ by sitting around on their asses? I know which one I’d rather do, all things being equal. Especially with what I think of my current & former occupations.

God, I can’t even imagine the devastation this would cause to the global economy.

I haven’t made $20/hr even when I was at my highest paid job! I’m at $10/hr now & spend all day listening to people complain about how much they’re paying for service.

If I could double that under a ‘living wage, regardless of employment status’ and spend my time reading, curled up with the cats, listening to Rush, posting on Blogmocracy & poking fun at Chuckles, it’s a no brainer.

Or maybe I’d start my own business (pet sitting, or maybe a used bookstore) and not have to worry about failing at it because I’m still guaranteed an income.

You know, it’s funny. I had two people suggested the pet sitting business idea within just a couple days of each other- someone from church & I think it was my mom. I’m pretty sure I’d love it, but we need to be a little more financially stable before I take a risk like that.

Cats, dogs, fish, hamsters/gerbils, ferrets and other critters wouldn’t be a problem. Snakes, spiders & some of the other creepy/crawly things I can take a pas on.

My pet sitter gets $24 per visit (she usually sits with my pets for an hour per visit), at 2 visits a day, $48 for 2 hours of hanging out with someone’s cats and feeding their tortoise and fish -- easy money… and she was the most reasonably priced pet sitter I could find… the others charged more…

If ya got 3 big ole dogs and two kittehs and you go out of town, who feeds them?

You could board them for about 25 bucks a day each and leave them in a kennel, or hire a pet sitter to come feed them and give them some attention for 1/3 the price.

It’s a no brainer for me.

And, when you board the critters, they have to have their vaccine papers in order. Since I give my pets their own yearly shots, most kennels shy away from my paperwork.

    @ Runner:

Well, when you go on vacation. Quite frankly, it costs me more to board my cats at the vet than to hire a pet sitter. I am single, so when I go on vacation, I need someone to come in twice a day to take care of my pets. I have 2 cats, a tortoise and three tanks of fish. the lights of the tanks for tortoise and fish have to be turned on in the morning, everybody gets fed, the cats need to get fed, and one of my cats has diabetes and asthma, so she needs an insulin shot in the morning and she gets her pills (put into little edible treats called pill pockets) in the evening before dinner. At night, I need someone to come over, turn off the lights on all the tanks. Cat box gets scooped twice a day. She brings in my mail, waters my plants, hangs out with my cats. My vet charges $45-$55 a day to board each cat, and they get all freaked out and stuff. This way, they can stay home, all my pets get taken care of, and when I get back from being out of town, the cats are calm and not freaked out. They’ve gotten to stay home in their own environment and that’s less stress for everyone involved (including me). It’s worth it. The lady who pet sits for me has been doing it for years. My cats like her. I like her. It works.

    @ savages_girl:

I’ve had the fantastic good luck to get to go to Europe twice in the last 3 years (England and Rome) and each time we hired a dog sitter to come in 3 times a day to walk the dogs and sit with them for 20 minutes.

In the past when we’d go on vacation and just have a relative or someone come in twice a day to let them out they seemed more stressed out when we got back. But I noticed this last trip they could tell we were going but they seemed cool with it. I know the dog sitter keeps a rigid schedule and spoils the crap out of them LOL! I swear by ‘em though. It’s a noble profession and a needed service.

Since the pet sitters are PAID and rely on word of mouth to put food on the table, you get a better bang for your buck than asking relatives for favors to watch your critters.

  31. savages_girl
    31 | October 5, 2011 11:55 pm

    @ dwells38:
It’s true! I used to have neighbors take care of my pets and bring in my mail when I was gone. But that was before my girl cat was diagnosed with diabetes. So, since then, no one was really comfortable having to give her shots and all the neighbors I knew well enough have all moved away. the pet sitter actually used to work at my vet’s years ago, so she has no problem giving Little Girl her insulin shot. It’s a real relief. You do have to plan the extra expense to pay for a pet sitter while you travel, but I think it is worth it. My pet sitter even calls me and leaves me messages to tell me how the cats are doing.

    will just go away.
Clearly Holder doesn’t want to appoint a Special
Prosecutor & I have not heard of any way to compel him.

    There isn’t one.

That’s the problem with the setup they have now, since the Independent Counsel statute was allowed to expire.

Ahhh, entertainment is taken care of then. Overseas postings can be trying at times. We used to have a bin of movies that was changed once a week when I was overseas. If we were lucky we even got t.v. shows as well. And at least a couple of porn tapes.
    GO ARMY!!!

When I was stationed in Italy, we got 3/4 inch videotapes of TV shows in the mail after they’d aired on AFN.

And AAFES sent us 16mm films from the theater.

You didn’t happen to be stationed in Napoli, were you?

About as far from it as possible while still being in the country.

I was in the German-speaking area just south of the Austrian border.

I wonder though if it will have legs during the campaign.
My guess is that it boils down to how badly the MSM wants
to help the Administration cover up.
The reporter at CBS that is covering Fast & Furious had the
riot act read to her by the DOJ.

Good Morning Blogmocracy! Today is another glorious inglorious Day in the Reign of Emperor Barack Hussein I, Pasha of the United States and Defender of the Faith Ummah! There are 397 Days until the 2012 Presidential Election! Time is ticking down on the One! Steve Jobs dies, and Sarah Palin isn’t running! It has been a bad 24 hours. Our prayers are with Jobs’ family. This isn’t unexpected, but it is still sad. Jobs created, well, jobs. Wealth and innovation, something the Left doesn’t seem to understand. I don’t know his politics. In the end, they don’t matter so much as what he did spearheadding the innovation this country needs to grow and thrive.

    Possible, these people are ruthless.
I can at least see her being defamed & her carrer & personal
    life detroyed.
I wonder if the rest of the MSM will have an attack of
    conscience & rally to her.

It depends. From what I heard though, her own corporation tried to get her to back off as well.

    From Marines to Givati Brigade
He survived roadside bomb in Iraq as part of four-year service in American Marine Corps, but Yehuda Medwin decided to contribute to his new homeland as well. Two months after arriving in Israel, young Jewish immigrant dons IDF uniform

He volunteered for the Givati Brigade, underwent basic training and other courses, and is currently stationed on the northern border.

“In the Marines it was much tougher and demands are very high,” Medwin admits, smiling.

I doubt it. Actually he was a sympathetic soul. We voted 2-1 ( I was with the 2) he was guilty. The we voted 2-1 to retain him ( I voted to separate him- I mean rules are rules).

One of my biggest regrets is that I didn’t go into the Marines straight out of High School. It would have been far better for me to have done four years and then gone on to college.

the Marines are a breed apart. Always have fun being with them. They always take good care of me, feed me well, and forgive my occasional lapses in Military Bearing since I think they view “Navy Docs” with amusement.

Well not sure about that. I mean that is one hard and fast rule and everyone is aware of it. If you break that rule, what else are you cheating on? And would you want that guy next to you in Battle?

  101. 101 | October 6, 2011 9:28 am

    @ Nevergiveup:

I guess I don’t think of drugs as the Big Bad Wolf anymore. Coke isn’t really that big a deal. If it were Crack, well, that is a different thing. Or, say, LSD. I wouldn’t wnat someone on acid next to me in a foxhole, but, OTOH, I don’t really care if they tripped on their down time away from the battlefield. Part of that is cultural. During World War I the French supplied their front-line troops with wine. Personally, if the bul;lets are flying I don’t think I’d want my reflexes dulled with alcohol, but the French apparently felt differently….

    @ Iron Fist:
Drug use has always been a crash landing for the Canadian military. Possesion that is. A little bit in your system of softer stuff is forgivable. Not unpunishable, but forgivable….
