Everyone ought to take a look at ALL the photos I took down in Venice CA last Thursday. Every picture tells a story, and it’s quite a story.

Every picture in this series I have includes commentary.

Comments and respectful debate are both welcome and encouraged.

Comments are the sole opinion of the comment writer, just as each thread posted is the sole opinion or post idea of the administrator that posted it or of the readers that have written guest posts for the Blogmocracy.

Obscene, abusive, or annoying remarks may be deleted or moved to spam for admin review, but the fact that particular comments remain on the site in no way constitutes an endorsement of their content by any other commenter or the admins of this Blogmocracy.

We're not easily offended and don't want people to think they have to walk on eggshells around here (like at another place that shall remain nameless) but of course, there is a limit to everything.

Play nice!

    Hey great work!!

    Locally,

Several hundred protesters, gathered behind a giant banner that reads OCCUPYPITTSBURGH.ORG, with the silhouette of a Pittsburgh skyline behind it, are marching down Centre Avenue.

The marchers are chanting “One, two, three, four, we declare a class war!”

Protesters are gathered in the center of the muddy park cheering and clapping.

Police just borrowed the protesters’ megaphone to tell them that BNY Mellon executives said they may remain on the Mellon Green property as long as they are peaceful and respectful.

It is not clear how many people plan to spend the night. Some gathered have said organizers plan to hold a meeting for everyone who plans to encamp at the park to establish ground rules.

“Hmmm. The eeevil bankers are allowing us to stay here. And being nice about it. Now, what do we do about that…?”

No need to apologize. I was raised a military brat, first Air Force and then Navy. I was raised in military housing during the Vietnam War. That is a part of my life that shaped who I am today, and a very brutal part of that time in my life was seeing my neighbor, and friends, fathers and mothers and brothers and sister come home in coffin’s because some worthless douche bag had them fighting a war with both hands tied behind their backs.

Even now with the Marxist;s doing their damnedest to destroy America so they can rebuild it as a Marxist Utopia America is still the best country on earth.

an old article but a great one

Fitzgerald: Building That Bridge Over The River Kwai, Or, Why Are We In Afghanistan?

We have spent that money, and have received, and will receive, no gratitude in return. When Iraq dissolves inevitably into the warring tribes and groups, who will be blamed? America. Americans. And so much of what we spend there, by the way, is on goods (such as oil shipments from Kuwait) and services (contractors, from ditto), that enrich Kuwaitis and Qataris and Bahrainis (when our ships are in), so that we are propping up all of these statelets and peoples who are not and cannot ever be our friends, but who in the end will use and abuse us every which way. And they will do this while we spend time trying to figure out what makes them tick, when what makes them tick are the texts, the tenets, the attitudes, the atmospherics, of Islam

(Reuters) – The world’s leading economies pressed Europe on Saturday to act decisively within eight days to resolve the euro zone’s sovereign debt crisis which is endangering the world economy.

In unusually direct language, finance ministers and central bankers of the Group of 20 major economies said they expected an October 23 European Union summit to “decisively address the current challenges through a comprehensive plan”.

this is unusual because there is a set amount of days in the warning. this tells me that the inside baseball does not look good

D.C. marchers rally for jobs and justice

Valerie Green-Thomas sees them every day in her classes at the Bronx middle school where she is a special education teacher. Kids hungry, anxious, living in the dark because the electricity in their homes has been turned off.

“I really wanted to come to this country, but I am so disappointed,” she said in her Jamaican accent. “To realize that the dream is not the dream.”

Green-Thomas was one of several thousand who rallied and marched Saturday as a prelude to Sunday’s belated dedication of the Martin Luther King Jr. National Memorial. The message of the “Jobs and Justice” event, organized by the Rev. Al Sharpton’s National Action Network along with labor and civil rights groups, was that today’s poor, unemployed and homeless embody King’s unfinished business.

Go the f*ck back to your shanty-town then you ignorant waste of DNA.

    On topic perhaps:

    Crisis of Decadence

Great powers gradually being shunted off the world stage have increasing difficulties getting their way: Itsy-bitsy colonial policing operations in dusty ramshackle outposts drag on for years and putter out to no obvious conclusion. If that sounds vaguely familiar, well, the State Department reported last month that the last Christian church in Afghanistan was razed to the ground in 2010. This intriguing factoid came deep within their “International Religious Freedom Report.” It is not, in any meaningful sense of that word, “international”: For the last decade, Afghanistan has been a U.S. client state; its repulsive and corrupt leader is kept alive only by NATO arms; according to the World Bank, the Western military/aid presence accounts for 97 percent of the country’s economy. American taxpayers have spent the best part of half a trillion dollars and lost many brave warriors in that benighted land, and all we have to show for it is a regime openly contemptuous of the global sugar daddy that created and sustained it. In another American client state, the Iraqi government is publicly supporting the murderous goon in Syria and supplying him with essential aid as he attempts to maintain his dictatorship. Your tax dollars at work.

One thing I would like to say here. I am on the budget plan for Duquesne Light. When I pay my bill every month…actually about 80 percent of the total monthly charge, I get a small credit that deducts from my overall balance. I just got a letter from them this week saying that there is a limit to the deduction. Once I reach that amount, I have to pay the bill in full every month. This may not seem like a big deal to some people, but it is to me.

But as to kids going hungry…nah. There are numerous programs out there to help feel people.

    @ Buckeye Abroad:

    From that piece:

But the real bubble is the 1950 “American moment,” and our failure to understand that moments are not permanent. The United States emerged from the Second World War as the only industrial power with its factories intact and its cities not reduced to rubble, and assumed that that unprecedented preeminence would last forever: We would always be so far ahead and so flush with cash that we could do anything and spend anything and we would still be Number One. That was the thinking of Detroit’s automakers when they figured they could afford to buy off the unions. The industrial powerhouse of 1950 is now a crime-ridden wasteland with a functioning literacy rate equivalent to West African basket-cases. And yes, Detroit is an outlier, but look at the assumptions its rulers made, and then wonder whether it will seem quite such an outlier in the future.

    Truth to power.

Gawker is attacking the guy who infiltrated the OWS organization and forwarded an email cache to Breitbart and the FBI. This comment is brilliant:

“I had some Libertarian idiot telling me last week on Gawker that the hundreds of thousands of dollars in life savings that I’ve lost was totally my own fault. Yes, how foolish I was to invest in the stock market and a home when I knew Republicans were running the country. I should have remembered how Ronald Reagan’s eight years in office ended (prolonged recession, Saving and Loans collapsing, stock market plummeting, real estate becoming worthless). If you’re young and want to make a ton of money, I have a piece of advice for you: the next time there is a republican president you should short the stock market in the seventh year of the president’s term. You will become extremely rich.”

    K. Her home value dropped, and she had flaky investments.

WASHINGTON: According to a government report, Afghan heroin’s share of the market in this country doubled from 7 percent in 2001 to 14 percent in 2004, the latest year studied. Meanwhile, heroin-related deaths are also on the rise, along with more seizures and more overdoses.

The amount of high-quality heroin throughout America is surging because of an increasing supply from Afghanistan — and with it the fear that record-breaking poppy harvests after the U.S. invasion are fueling more addictions and overdose deaths back home.

Heroin-related deaths in Los Angeles County soared from 137 in 2002 to 282 in 2004 before dropping to 239 in 2005, still a jump of nearly 75 percent in three years, a period when other factors contributing to overdose deaths remained unchanged, experts said.

That’s the order from the Obama Administration to the 4,000 Marines presently engaged in Operation Khanjar or “Strike of the Sword,” an invasion of the Taliban infested Helmand Province in southern Afghanistan.

Afghanistan grew 93 percent of the world’s poppy crop last year, with Helmand alone responsible for more than half of the opium production in the country, according to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.

welllll….coke and mdma dont make physical changes at the neural level like meth does. meth is THE PERFECT drug for the human neural system.

yes, there is a dump of dopamine and some serotonin with coke and mdma, but the brain does not change by their use.

now with meth, the brain does change and the dopamine feedback loop is blocked. the DA (dopamine) transporter is reversed. so not only is dopamine not taken back up into the nerve cell but it also forces the dopamine out.

this depletes the dopamine stores and the neural network responds by making more receptors and producing more dopamine until there is real damage.

    From Wiki:

The street name in Russia for home-made Desomorphine made in this way is “krokodil” (crocodile), reportedly due to the scale-like appearance of skin of its users, and it is used as a cheaper alternative to heroin, as codeine tablets are available without a prescription.[10] Since this mix is routinely injected immediately with little or no further purification, “Krokodil” has become notorious for producing severe tissue damage, phlebitis and gangrene, sometimes requiring limb amputation in long-term users. The amount of tissue damage is so high that addicts’ life expectancies are said to be as low as two to three years

Oh, definitely. There’s nowhere near the necessary numbers of support to entirely smash the existing framework, which is the ONLY way a “revolution” that transitions to a power seizure can work here.

Their inability to destroy all of the framework at once, means that outbreaks of violence regardless of their coordination, will be a geographic game of Lefty whack-a-mole.
