Grab some Ethiopian Yrgacheffe and the bagels are fresh right over there —>

This morning we are again in Prof Eugen Weber’s lecture room at UCLA for part 32. Absolutism and the Social Contract

Enjoy!

I’m still on the weird bagels, and having the debate between lox and cream cheese.

I’m holding out for season 2 of the new show about the Obama administration that’s on AMC tomorrow: The Walking Dead.

Why don’t they just call it the ‘Fizzle’?

GM to produce all-electric Chevy Spark

(Reuters) – General Motors Co confirmed it will make its first all-electric vehicle, a version of the Chevrolet Spark minicar that will debut in 2013 and take aim at Nissan Motor Co Ltd’s Leaf.

“Chevrolet will produce an all-electric version of the Spark minicar for selected U.S. and global markets, including California,” Jim Federico, Chevy’s global vehicle chief engineer for electric vehicles, said at the company’s Detroit headquarters on Wednesday.
    ————————————-
GM, like other major automakers, also needs more fuel-efficient cars as the industry pushes toward more stringent U.S. requirements that will be in place by 2025.

    Ah. Now I get it.

Everything else will be illegal, and there will be all of these things sitting around unsold.

Unless they change the way the CAFE averages are calculated, it doesn’t matter if anyone buys any of them or not. They’ll still count toward the manufacturer’s “fleet” average.

They just add up the mileage ratings of one of each vehicle a company makes and divide by the total number of models. There’s no weighting for sales volume or anything, so it’s all BS anyway.

    @ Bumr50:

Chevy’s gonna need to update Seger’s song for the new millennium:

    Like a toaster…..

    @ Bumr50:

The mileage ratings they use for electric vehicles are BS, as well. They give plug-in electrics a rating of 99 mpg, based on the idea that they don’t use fuel.

Unless the electricity used to charge them came from a windmill or something, that’s nonsense.

Speaking of which, I saw a Tesla roadster the other day. Doesn’t look all that for roughly $ 120 K. I can buy 4 Mini Countryman S All4s for that price. With extra goodies (I’ve priced one out.)

Regardless of how many MPG it gets, it’s still primarily a coal burning, carbonista death machine.

It must really stink bad in Zucotti Park if Rage Against the Machine hasn’t showed up to put on a free concert yet.

But if you buy them in Colorado you get a $50,0000.00 dollar rebate form the state of Colorado for doing so… and people think us Californian’s are crazy…

    Net $ 70 K, then. 2 Mini Countryman S All4s and $ 10 K in my pocket. I only need 1 Mini…

‘Course, in CO they have winter. Batteries and winter don’t get along, so one might need that extra money for tows and taxis.

Some of the craziest Leftist California greenies have moved to Colorado after destroying their home state.

They’ve overrun the Denver metro area and of course, Boulder, the Berkeley of the Rockies.

    Crunchy Grooves!
