Today I reflect on 40 years of marriage. Prezzies have been exchanged and tonight I’m taking my bride out for a genuine world-class dinner.

Congratulations! Our 30th anniversary is in May and, while He has blessed me repeatedly, my wife and my marriage are His greatest gifts.

Enjoy your anniversary, and I wish you many more.

    @ Mike C.:
and as my daughter just got married I can only pray
that her mom and mines commitment of 27 years is an example to
them. the storms will come and they will pass only true love
    steadies the ship.

I have to give a talk this week on commitments
in realationships to younger addicts and alcoholics.

the concept seems foreign to them

Thank you. It is unfortunate that if you tell someone these days that you’ve been married that long, they look at you like you just stepped out of a flying saucer.

First girl I ever dated, BTW. Sometimes you get lucky.

    @ mawskrat:

Some people think I should be committed.

    Does that count?

    @ coldwarrior:

Heh, I oft think that she could have done a lot better, then I realize she just took the long way around -- she made me better.

Hey CW, I saw there was a discussion of the NRO editorial on Newt. If you haven’t read it, here’s Jonah Goldberg’s take. Sorry for the OT and I don’t want to derail the thread (cause I’m outta here) but I did want you to see it.

Have a good day, all and again, Happy 40th Mike C

Also please pray for the Pope. According to Drudge, he’s getting frailer.

Strong relationships can heal a lot of the world. When we reach a point of conflict and neither wants to back down or grow, take the first step towards a lighter view of the problem. And the relationship usually gets stronger if it is going to last.
