Sunday Reflections…

For thoughts, prayers, and general reflections…

If children have the ability to ignore all odds and percentages, then maybe we can all learn from them. When you think about it, what other choice is there but to hope? We have two options, medically and emotionally: give up, or fight like hell.

~Lance Armstrong

Please take a moment to say a prayer for Dorian’s mom. Thank you.

    Hebrews 4:16

    New International Version (NIV)

16 Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need

Hey kids, I talked to Momcat last night. She would like us all to say a prayer for Rain of Lead who lost a friend recently. They had known this friend since high school. She wanted me to pass this on to yinz. Please pray for Mom, RoL and the friend’s family. Thanks.

Hi Dorian. How is your Mom doing? I have been out of the loop.

    @ NoThreat2U:

Well, off & on. I actually had to go back to the ER on Fri night- wheezing & extreme shortness of breath. They found about 2 liters of fluid around (not in) my lungs that had to be drained out. Got home last night, took pain meds & went to bed, then woke up around 3 or so nearly screaming in pain. I’m hoping this is mainly from the lung re-inflating itself, but I’m not sure.

Will NOT be going back to that hospital. It bills itself as a ‘heart hospital’, but they had everything in the book coming in Fri night. Took nearly 5 hours from the time we walked in until they had me in my room.

    @ mfhorn:
WOW…five hours???? That is why I hate going to the ER. I will make sure to keep praying for a speedy painless recovery for you. Just take it as easy as you can. Follow doctors orders. I wish you well.

Yeah, I’m back on track with the breathing thing. I now have 3 of those things scattered around the house!

She went from a very minor heart attack to our finding out she has breast cancer. We go to see her new doctor on Wed. I can’t really tell what is going on in her head or heart, but she seems to be dealing with it very well. The term “unflappable” comes to mind.

    @ mfhorn:
Well that’s good. May I ask how old you are?

    @ doriangrey:
Breast cancer treatment has come a long way. If she is as….intense?…as you are, I see a full recovery in her future. Good luck Dorian and give your Mom my best.

Yes, way way way to young for this. It’s scary isn’t it? I know my own health problems have me wondering…Am I THAT old????? Well, you still have youth on your side. It might be a hard battle, but you can do this.

    @ NoThreat2U:

From what the surgeon said, most of this is genetic, too. My BP is too high, & I need to lose some weight, but at the same time, my ‘bad’ cholesterol is still under 90, total chol. is under 150 & triglycerides are right around 150. Parent’s are both in better shape than I am.

Serious question….are you Italian? I know an Italian family where everyone has high blood pressure….even the one sister who weighs no more than 120 pounds. Certain conditions are prevalent with certain ethnicities.

No Italian in me. Mostly German w/ a little French, Dutch & English. Plus Irish, if I’ve been drinking. :D
