    *outsider question*

If Romney wins the SC primary its that pretty much the nail in the coffin as far as the nomination goes or could it drag on longer with him winning each primary. I’ve never really followed the presidential nomination process in the past.

Also, does it have anything to do with the size of Mitt Romney’s penis?

  21. 21 | January 16, 2012 9:40 pm

    @ tuco:

The first question, it depends upon his margin of hypothetical victory. If Santorum or Gingrich gain a close second, either of them could gain momentum for later states. With the proportional delegate rules that went into effect this year, that could easily translate into better funding and organization for later on down the road.

You are on your own for the second question.

    Paul is nuts.

  53. 53 | January 16, 2012 10:03 pm

    @ Flyovercountry:

    He’s against Individualism.

One of the criticisms I make is to what I refer to as more of a libertarianish right. You know, the left has gone so far left and the right in some respects has gone so far right that they touch each other. They come around in the circle. This whole idea of personal autonomy, well I don’t think most conservatives hold that point of view. Some do. They have this idea that people should be left alone, be able to do whatever they want to do, government should keep our taxes down and keep our regulations low, that we shouldn’t get involved in the bedroom, we shouldn’t get involved in cultural issues. You know, people should do whatever they want. Well, that is not how traditional conservatives view the world and I think most conservatives understand that individuals can’t go it alone. That there is no such society that I am aware of, where we’ve had radical individualism and that it succeeds as a culture.

This is not a Conservative attitude. Santorum is a Collectivist. No thanks.

Newt, for all of his warts, remains the only living politician who actually fought for and succeeded at cutting the scope, authority, and size of government. Where they’re screwing up is running the ‘next in line white guy in a suit’. Obama gets reelected when his campaign can call everybody who opposes him a racist. Not true, , , not right, , , but enough weak voters will be afraid of that. They gotta fight fire with fire. A minority VP candidate may neutralize some of that tactic but probably not enough.
Also, the Tea Parties have been relatively quiet but I think they’re just hanging back to see what’s gonna shake out. They will be a force in the election and none of the guys left say much about their issue. Money may be more powerful than race in this one.

    @ NoThreat2U:

This is not a Conservative attitude.

He wants the individual to be subservient to the collective. This is a Progressive idea.

I’m not speaking for rodan, but yeah – as long as it’s the choice of the indivdual. When imposed by gov’t – not so much

…of course as long as you don’t think we are all like that down here.

No, only most of us.

    @ Moe Katz:

That’s not the school of Conservatism I came from. I think I’m more of a classic Liberal/Libertarian than what’s called Conservatism today.

Well someone needs to teach Rick the power of controlling votes even if he is not going to win. Well maybe he will be Rahmney’s VP for the Southern vote.

    Sorry…

    More clearly…

What if it is the local mullah that has great influence on the individual sacrifice made for the collective?

I think the slippery slope is solved by declaring one law for the land.

I reread your commenet and — yes — individual choice is extremely important (liberty and free association) but everyone lives by the same national law with its attendant local laws.

Oh, I think I see what you mean, but I don’t think you understand what I meant.

All of us as individuals are influenced by external things – family, friends, religion, etc. But that is not BY ITS NATURE coercive. Gov’t is.
