Gun Control is an issue the Progressives keep under the radar. Feeling cocky about this year’s elections, they are starting to let the cat out the bag. NYC Mayor Mike Bloomberg is launching a nationwide push for gun control.Bloomberg is a Nany state Totalitarioan and feels the elite should control the masses. He wants citizens to be disarmed, so they can be controlled.
(Reuters) – Among the slick, million-dollar ads for the likes of Pepsi and Honda during the Super Bowl this Sunday, viewers in Washington will see a far more modest spot. New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Boston Mayor Thomas Menino will be sitting on a couch touting an issue most politicians avoid like the plague: gun control. The two mayors, whose local teams face off in the big game, are making the pitch for Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG), the organization they co-founded in 2006.
Bloomberg is a dangerous man. He’s an elitist who wants control.

‘Mayors Against Illegal Guns’. Certainly sounds innocent enough, and like a group worthy of support. Of course, when you realize their goal is to make any ownership of any firearm illegal, the danger of this group becomes apparent.
This guy is like the last segregationist. He is fighting a fight he has already lost. The Supreme Court has recognized that the Right to Keep and Bear Arms is a Right that is enforceable against both the Federal Government and the States. The time is long past to start aggressively enforcing that Right. Being pro-gun control is to be anti-Civil Rights, ever bit as much as though he were fighting for Segregation. And it is every bit as dispicable.
I partially caught his commercial. He has a web site stopillegalguns or something.
Shouldn’t he be championing something more like enfoceExistingGunLaws.com? That is if he were truly interested getting criminals off the street. However, that is not his true goal. He is attempting to criminalize the 2nd Amendment, and those who legally excessive rights the 2nd Amendment protects.
PIMF excessive should be exercise
@ citizen_q:
Gun laws, even the existing ones, do nothing substantial about criminals. Background checks are primarily there to inconvenience the law abiding. Your truly dangerous criminals aren’t buying their guns at gun shops, anyway. It is just like concealed carry laws do nothing to stop the illegal carrying of guns. Criminals, who intend to break the law anyway, simply break these laws as well. If the punbishment for real crimes, like armed and unarmed robbery, rape, and murder, were appropriate, we would not need to worry about nonesense like background checks whether at gun shops or gun shows.

Precisely, I make that same argument when trapped into conversation with a gun-control advocate. I especially despise the “common-sense” straw man.
@ citizen_q:
“Common sense” gun laws are that everyone is required to own a gun. We might make exceptions for people of so-called “conscenience”, but generally the more people that are armed, the less crime there is. It is kind of like requiring that people have immunizations. Sure, there are some adverse reactions, but on the whole it is a positive thing. And common sense tells you that criminals will break the laws, whatever they are, so there is no point inconveniencing the law abiding.
