The GOP’s short leash with voters

by Rodan ( 91 Comments › )
Filed under Elections 2012, Republican Party at February 8th, 2012 - 7:00 pm

When the GOP won Congress in 2010, they were given a short leash. Now nearly a year after they took office, the results have been disappointed. They laid down and let Obama engage in an illegal war to install Islamists in Libya. They backed down during the debt ceiling debate. John Boehner has been nothing more than a political Eunuch to Obama. The GOP Establishment is pushing the most Progressive Republican since the 1800′s down Conservative voters throats. In short, the GOP has proven to be a bunch of frauds yet again. This cartoon illustrates how many  Conservatives feel about the Republican Party.

Keep it up GOP, you will go the way of the Whigs. We don’t need an appendage to the Democratic Party. We want a clear Alternative, not Progressive Republicanism.

Whoever said Elephants were smart?

Every place else, the ABR numbers were higher than his.

    @ Brick:

I love how the GOP Political Ruling Class told us it was “over” after Nevada. Uh, not quite. Of course, the MSM is saying how this is a “big victory for Obama” with Santorum sweeping last night. I call bullshit. That whole OWS movement is designed for them to run against Romney as a Wall Street insider. Instead, frankly, Santorum can point and say “hey, I wasn’t the one attending four $37,000 a plate dinners in New York in one night, Mr. President.”

Exactly. Running Mittens as the GOP candidate is a distinction without a difference vs. Obama.

It’s becoming apparent to even the most thickly skulled Republicans that their beloved party is really just a different side of the same coin.

Santorum for better or worse, is the last candidate that offers the clearest sane departure away from the mostly interchangeable professional ruling class.

I don’t like him but I’d feel better voting for him against Obama, than skipping the November presidential line altogether, if Mittens gets the nod.

I don’t see how santorum can win. He took a 20 point loss in his last election on his home turf. What is different about him now? Or the electorate? Maybe anybody but Obama? But gingrich would be a stronger choice then. Santorum is going to be portrayed as anti woman.

The GoP isnt revving up the scandal a day obama slot as far as I can tell. Until they do that and cut the media to the chase Obama has a good change of winning the next election on a sympathy vote.

Spell check here say SAntorum is Santana and Gingrich is Heinrich or gingerly. Gingerly wasn’t she the porn star who made waffles for Weiner?

He’s definitely not a perfect pick – in fact I’d characterize him as a mediocre pick at best. Everyone who’s left is an insider regardless of how they, their detractors, or the professional media may portray them now, or anytime right up to the swearing-in.

On a related note…the professional media did a helluva job this election cycle taking out any real threats to the status quo. Notice also – not a peep from Nader this cycle yet either. What gives?

OK, a quick update: I just got home from the hospital, Mom has an irregular heartbeat after the surgery, so they kept her overnight for observation.

Her irregular heartbeat was pretty much what started this whole thing off, then they found the cancer. The surgery went perfect and the lymph biopsy was negative, so everything is good on that front. If everything goes well I should be able to bring her home tomorrow morning.

Then another doctor’s appointment and as I understand it 5 weeks of radiation treatment to make sure they got all of the cancer with the surgery.

I would like to express my most sincere thanks and appreciation to everyone who prayed for my Mom today, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

welllll…..his 18 point loss in pa was a multi-variate ass beating.

first, bush was not real popular here in 2006. santorum was elected in the 94 takeover and was voted out in the 2006 ass beating of the republicans. the dems ran a brilliant candidate against him, the son of a beloved governor. bob casey junior negated the pro-life pedigree of santorum AND he unabashed backed bush (who was in the mid 30′s at that point, and then endorsed arlen specter whose days were numbered in the gop her in pa. the fact that santorum decided not to bother to live in pa anymore also sunk him.

so he was unpopular because he went all DC on us, backed a wildly unpopular bush without a problem, then backed arlen THEN the dems ran the son of a popular governor…santrum won the T bust lost the phillie and pgh suburbs, oddly, the pgh suburbs were the very place where he grew up and USED to live. he lost those because of his pushing intelligent design and involvement in the terry schiavo thing, neither issues were important to his suburban voters. he was not listening to his fiscon suburban people and treated everyone like shit, frankly. i hope he learned to be nicer and more receptive to his constituents because he was a real asshole.

in the gop primary, the gop governor got 22k more votes than santorum, we walked away from him and didnt vote for him in the primary even though he was running unopposed.

It was my understanding that Weldon did all the heavy lifting on Able Danger – and his efforts were rewarded by the administration with a raid and innuendos of impropriety about his family and threats of jamming them up.

As for Rick on the ME – I agree. He really does get it.

I would prefer Newt over Santorum, but against Romney – no contest I take Santorum.

He’s not as FisCon as I would like, and has a tendency towards more intervention than necessary IMHO. Also he’s very preachy.

But his pluses far outweigh his negatives, in that I know I’m going to get a candidate that’s strong on defense, acknowledges the gravity of our fiscal situation, understands Islam, and has a “my way or the highway” temperament that I respect even though I sometimes disagree with it.

Keep in mind that I personally believe that not having Romney as a nominee is just the tiniest bit less important than getting rid of the Marxist. Not much at all.

Everybody hated him. He treated his own constituents like shit. He was self-righteous and arrogant. Did he get leadership positions? Yes he did. That’s not a popularity contest, that’s a party politics contest. Why do you think he supported Spector? Party politics.

The concern is not that he’s not conservative – he is – the concern is that he would focus on social issues instead of the economy and govern with bile.

Honestly? I think he’s going to be a tough sell in Pa. If he gets the GOP nod, I’d wager 1/2 of the votes he gets are anti-Obama votes, not pro-Santorum votes but in the end, he carries the state. Kind of a distinction without a difference, but a distinction nonetheless. Disclaimer: My opinion is worth exactly what you paid for it.

OK, I’m back, had to sit down have a beer and watch a little TV and try to unwind, I can’t believe how exhausted I am, all I was doing was sitting around…

Ir’s worse than you know. I have an All-stars 1955 baseball with (among others) Smokey Burgess’ signature.

AND an original Roberto Clemente baseball card.

Did you talk to your nutritionist about nuts (remember the cashew nut butter recipe?)

    Do you like fish?

you do realize that myron cope is the first football announcer inducted into the hall of fame?

he taught a class at pitt every spring, it was impossible to get singed up for unless you were a journalism major and then you had to bribe someone.

Most nuts are ok. Fish is fine with me, but my better half won’t touch any seafood. And pork is kind of limited for her, too. Parents were here from Sat-last night, so we ended up eating out most of the time. Need to hit the store for the rest of the week’s meals. Stir fry chicken tomorrow, maybe turkey chili for Fri.

My husband is 12 years older than I and a Yankees fan in his DNA. From the time I could listen to the radio, I was a Pirates fan. When the Pirates won the World Series against the Yankees, he was 20 yrs old listening to the game in biology lab at Cornell.

I was in third grade in a 6 room school house where the entire school was listening on all the transistor radios we had brought from home.

Hubby gave me a baseball signed by Bill Mazeroski.

Romney took a mighty big drubbing himself last time around. Yet everybody keeps telling him he’s “electable” and Santorum isn’t. Go figure.

  90. 91 | February 8, 2012 11:38 pm

    @ 1389AD:
Romney is ONLY in the race to hand Obama 4 more years! All of the other 3 are more electable.
