Atlantis Build discusses the “Truth”

It’s been a few months since we last saw the fountain of wisdom named Atlantis Build. This blog hasn’t been dropped any science and math, so its time for teacher to preach! Atlantis discusses the truth!

Wow, I feel enlightened now on the Truth. Atlantis Build always drops the Science and Mathematics.

“What can we do about the problem (of climate change)? Of course there are things that we can do, personally, in our lives to decrease our own carbon footprints, and we should all do those things as a matter of course. But that’s probably not going to be enough. If we are going to avert levels of greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere that we think are going to have dangerous impacts on us, our environment and our ecosystems, we’re going to have to take far more dramatic actions. We’re going to have to stabilize emissions and bring them down well below current levels by the middle of this century. That’s not going to be easy to do; there’s no magic bullet.”

    – Michael Mann

Pretty deep. He sounds pretty normal in that vid, Rodan. Not crazy about his metaphor about truth being a square, nor do I agree with his notion that all sides need to be considered to arrive at the truth.

I prefer the simpler circle Venn diagram. 2 intersecting circles. One circle is the truth circle – interior true, exterior not true. A second circle intersects the first circle. It is the belief circle. Interior that which is believed, exterior – not believed. Size and amount of coincidental real estate with the first circle, entirely adjustable for every user. :)

    Evening, all.

    Truth is verifiable and constant.
Stick your hand in a fire ten times, ten times burned.
Jump out of a window as many times as you like and you will always accelerate towards the earth’s center of mass.
Truth is a beautiful thing, and it is responsible for the technology that humans have developed to date.
If you cannot reproduce your results, it is not science.

Truth is not dependant on belief, if Tinkerbell exists, no one needs to believe in Tinkerbell for Tinkerbell to continue to exist.
Truth is true even if no one believes in it.
Truth is not more true if everyone believes it.

After 5 minutes, I couldn’t follow it either.

    He is Historic!

  50. 52 | February 9, 2012 9:15 pm

After 5 or 6 minutes, he got the sniffles and lost his train of thought.

I was with him that truth remains the truth, despite the reaction from those who don’t like it. But I would say that UNDERSTANDING of the truth does not always endure.

I think what must have made the most lasting impact on me was reading Ward-Perkins on the end of the Roman Empire. W-P made the point that under the Romans, people had middle-class pottery and brass coinage and could go about in the cities and live, well, normal lives. After the Romans, the West went back into the fucking Iron Age in a generation. And I need hardly remind Rodan et al. about how weakened Spain was.

Excuse my language, but I did take it personally. Ignorance is a menace. It kills. When you read about how France (say) worked under the Romans, like how Irenaeus came out of Lyons; and then, you pick up the history by Gregory of Tours on the Merovingian Franks… you *should* be sickened at how far the Western Empire fell. Plague, bandits, barbarian invasions and a general air of Lord Humongous of the Wastelands.

I don’t want any of that to befall me.

Well, I guess we’ll all meet up in the Asylum…

A study in the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry has concluded that distrust of the government is a treatable mental disorder. Known as “AGP” or “anti-government phobia,” the study claims: “…that unfounded fear of government is a recognizable mental illness, closely related to paranoid schizophrenia. Anti-Government Phobia (AGP) differs from most mental illnesses, however, in that it is highly infectious and has an acute onset. Symptoms include extreme suspiciousness, conspiracy-mongering, delusional thought patterns, staunch ‘us against them’ mentality, withdrawal from reality, and often religious fanaticism…”

On the plus side, this should qualify all of us for Social Security bennies…

So here we are…We so admire our founding fathers. But why? One simple reason…we admire a people who are willing to die for their beliefs, a romantic notion…perhaps! As it began they had barely a third of the population on their side, the rest, like today, content to be enslaved with a comfortable life while sucking from the Kings…shall we say, nourishment…aka Obama handouts! In hindsight was the system they implicated with all of it`s checks and balances, it`s safeguards and features to insure our freedom able to withstand the evil of man…NO! Did they warn us of such a fate…YES! A nation of ‘law’, corrupted by a consortium of ‘lawyers’ who use the ruse of ‘it`s the law’ as their first means of control as they themselves ‘write the laws’ we are to abide by. What a clever little deception masked as ‘honor’…by the most dishonorable lot in the history of man! A two party system quickly emerged that adopted a back room gentleman`s agreement of shared power to an extant, the winner controlling the purse strings of government largesse. Thus a game of musical chairs began with neither being able to venture to far from the center without fear of total loss of power…you see both knew neither was to be trusted, a concept us voters haven`t learned yet! Now we find ourselves with our ‘two parties of salvation’ locked in a titanic struggle of corruption to ‘outspend’ each other for votes as a doomed reality is beginning to appear on the horizon. The deficits continue to mount as the parasites ignore the slow death of their host, both willing to ignore the obvious, neither willing to give in. Let`s continue to invite destruction as we embrace one or the other as we seek a cure from the illness thay both have inflicted on this nation. Today we don`t have to be strong, we don`t have to put it all on the line like our forefathers as we slowly conform to their will, hell no, we can sit behind our computer screens in the comfort of our homes and cast our rebellion to the tyranny by turning off ‘american idol’, you damn right, that will show them. Better yet we can voice our displeasure on blogs and comment sections of webpages as the meaningless little trolls they allow us to be. A ‘third party’…dismissed, it will allow the ‘other’ to win they cry, when in actuality it is what they fear most, the only real threat to their stranglehold short of rebellion. No…your choice is Romney, or Santorium, or Gingrich you mindless little pissant, now get out there and vote for who we select for you to vote or… “Do you want Obama for another four years?”…that`s your choice pal…Obama or a soft tyranny of corruption masked with an (R), but hold on Keith, I think you have gone too far!…this Republican will be our salvation, you just watch and see, they mean it this time…not like the last twenty times they have screwed us like the little bitches we really are!…
