Herman Cain’s Speech Stumping For Newt Gingrich.

It is truly a shame that this man was destroyed the way he was, by unsubstantiated, untrue, and completely fabricated allegations. It is a deeper shame that even those of us on the political right allowed ourselves to be duped by this. Many of us on the right wrote impassioned articles defending Herman Cain, but our voices were not nearly strong enough to stem the tide. While I ultimately threw my weight, such as it is, behind Newt Gingrich, Cain and Perry were a close second and third. Cain absolutely nails it here with his assessment of the budget proposed by our little boy President and his assertions that we are all citizens of Fantasy Land now. The three important numbers to remember are 35, 50, and 80.

It is refreshing to see someone who based his decision on whom to endorse on his ideology and not on some other, “what’s in it for me in terms of political gain later,” reason. Our economy will cease to exist in 2027 completely, unless people quickly start standing up and putting the nation first, above their own specific interests. Both Herman Cain, and Rick Perry have endorsed Newt Gingrich. This, to me anyhow, makes sense from a ideological stand point, since the three of them were very close on most issues.

The good thing about that date of 2027 is this, our budgets will be balanced from that date forward. What we will learn as a nation is this. The problem is not our revenue, what we collect from taxation, but our spending. Our economy is capable of producing $2.1 Trillion in tax revenue per year, which in itself is a somewhat amazing fact. The problem is, we are mandated by statute to spend more than that amount on entitlements alone. Add to that the everything else, which includes education, energy, labor, infrastructure, defense, etc., and it all equals $3.8 Trillion. Our political leaders get elected by telling us that the impossible is possible if we merely send the bill to future generations, kicking that can down the road until that sad day when the note comes due. 13 years is now the date that the bill comes due permanently. It is no longer possible to put this off to some later date that no one could possibly imagine. We need to stop adjusting our expenditures to match what we wish to have on hand to spend, but rather start living in the land of reality.

As a youth, while in high school, I took 4 trips to Washington D.C. with various groups of other youths. On a few occasions, we sat in the gallery of one of the Chambers of Congress and watched the people’s business being attended to by slick people giving speeches. One Representative after another stood up and told the other members that we were in deep financial trouble due to our profligate spending habits, and that the only way to solve this crisis was to spend an increased amount of money on his district or pet project. I view the fault as being partly ours, since that is how these dolts got elected in the first place, by promising to bring home bacon, while not allowing anyone else to have any. Fantasy Land sucks, and it is high time we all left. Herman Cain gets this, as any outsider does, and Newt Gingrich gets it also, because contrary to what you may have heard, he is an outsider as well.

Hmm. Well, I supported Mr. Cain well before he announced his entry last year. I’ll have to keep his endorsement of Newt in mind when our caucus comes up 3/10. It’s certainly NOT a guarantee I’ll support him, but it’s a factor.

Cain is a great guy to run interference for Newt. I think that Cain was unfairly ganged up on with the proggie Clarence Thomas playbook, but by that time I did not think he was the guy to go the distance anyway.

With Cain helping, Newt might make it. He might not be my Great Dream Choice, but looking at the other available options—the Extruded Plastic Android in the Checked Shirt, Mr. Pocket Protector, and the Wizened Apple Sculpture—I’m going for Poppin’ Fresh in the Grey Beatle Wig.

    @ buzzsawmonkey:

Your descriptions are so heartening. With candidates like this, we cannot lose!

    (we’re so fucked, aren’t we?)

    But are they inaccurate?

    @ buzzsawmonkey:

No, not really. That is why they are so depressing. I don’t think Newt can pull it out, though. And I really don’t think Romney can beat Obama. He can’t even convince Republicans to vote for him. We are well and truly fucked. Our back bench is great, but our starters all suck. We are left picking the one that sucks least.

I’m going to take a brief moment to switch into Pollyanna mode: Gingrich can kick Obama’s ass. Ron Paul can’t—and shouldn’t. Romney won’t—and shouldn’t. Santorum can’t—and shouldn’t.

Gingrich can. He could do it a lot more easily if the sanctimonious Santorum-bums got behind him, and if the Romnesiacs, once their candidate is well and truly rejected, united behind Gingrich (they won’t—they’d rather lose than support someone who wasn’t their guy, even though they all expected their guy to get other candidates’ support as a matter of right). The Ron Paul cultists will be too busy picking fleas off each other, so forget about them.

There are only 3 reasons why Gingrich couldn’t kick Obama’s ass, and none of them hold up:

    1) “Newt has baggage.” Really? Worse than Fast & Furious, Solyndra et. al.’s crony capitalism, the pissing away of a trillion-dollar stimulus package, Obama’s destruction of stability in the Middle East, the job levels, the tamping down of domestic energy production and the ramping up of regulations (to start with)? Newt has “baggage?” Obama’s got a fucking baggage car, and it’s overloaded.

    2) Newt has a checkered personal history. So big fat fucking what? Do we really care about this? It doesn’t affect his ability to govern, and accusations about it from the same-sex marriage party really don’t mean shit.

    3) The Priss Patrol (Santorum’s crowd) and the Country Club Coprophagics (the Romney supporters who would rather eat Democrats’ shit than take the reins of government) won’t support him. This is the make-or-break issue; will the sanctimonious assholes get behind a candidate who actually has the intelligence and the rhetorical skill to reduce Obama to a blubbering infant on camera, or not?

    @ buzzsawmonkey:

You don’t have to sell me. I’d vote for him in the general election. I almost voted for him in the primary, but for what my vote is worth I didn’t want to tip Tennessee towards Romney. Romney is the worst of the three (and Paul doesn’t merit thinking about). You are right, though, the Country Club RINOs won’t vote for Newt. I doubt they’ll turn out for Santorum, either. They’d rather have another four years of Obama. Which is what Romney is almost guaranteed to do if he wins the nomination. That may actually be the intent.

Tell me again what were Cain’s qualifications to be president?
