Randolph WI (Strutts News Services) - All orbits decay over time, which means that satellites can fall, and France’s Maison de L’orbite Space Station is no exception. The experimental prototype, built in the early 1970′s and launched last April, officially brought France into the Space Age with little fanfare. Presently orbiting at 500 feet, its orbit is decaying at the rate of 2.7 inches per day, and is expected to return to earth sometime in 2018.
The Wicked Witch of the East should be very concerned and seriously consider moving to Kansas – maybe even hide out on The Overnight Open Thread.

Hey, Bonk… you’ve got dueling OOTs.
A local ‘Wine Dive’ is having a fund raiser for the leukemia/lymphoma society. An Irish Whiskey/beer tasting.
Beers: Smithwicks; Harp; Guinness Black Lager; Guinness Stout
Whiskey: Bushmills; Black Bush; Bushmills Honey; Bushmills 10 yr Malt; Bushmills Rare 16 yr Malt.
I’m going, I just kinda wish it was Friday instead of Thursday.
Yep, by the time I got to this thread last night, it wasn’t there anymore.
Looks like the French build space stations like they build automobiles.
Cough cough Bullshit…….. Nothing Orbits at 500 feet… Silly Strutt’s New Services, got conned by the French…. AGAIN…

Danged Tea Partiers. Haven’t they learned anything about civil discourse?

@ MrPaulRevere:
And he’s not going to jail? Pity, that. He’d look so fetching in pink underwear. Maybe supervised custody c/o the sage of Culver City?
@ mfhorn:
The Bushmill’s 16 year is really good stuff.
@ doriangrey:
The Villa Straylight it’s not…
Humpf. I have a bottle of that Bushmills 16, and it ain’t all that. With all due apologies to The Auld Sod and my Irish ancestors, my Scottish ancestors make a better whiskey.
Of course, the Scots are Irish, in large part, and even the Picts were Celts, so it’s all in the family, if you will.

Damn Mike C. we are ALL Celts. The modern Scots-Irish are those who went through The Ulster Plantation which is a “Rite of Passage” thing these days.
If you get right down to it we are ALL Celts of varying Breeds. Them English Bastards call us all names so get over it. On St. Paddys Day the proper toast is “Fuck them all not Celtic Born”!
@ AZOlddog:
I’m not of Scots-Irish ancestry. I’m of Catholic Irish and Catholic Scottish ancestry. The Irish from County Leitrim and the Scottish from the northeast lowlands.
The wife, OTOH, is Anglo-Norman up every line.
Good morning. Nothing like going wide awake in a hotel
room at 3:30am.
I do not suggest that you try it.
@ Mike C.:
The Scots & early Britons were all of Irish ancestry.
Padrick (St. Patrick) was actually a Romanised
Celt from Briton.
Well, the Scots per se immigrated from Ireland, hence the name. The Picts were Celts, but whether they came via Ireland or straight from the European mainland is open to question, to say the least.
@ Mike C.:
Scotland is of course named after Scotia the Galic
Queen after their ddefeat at the hands of Rome.
From everything that I have read they first occupoied
Ireland & then went to Scotland & Briton.
I don’t guess that it can be proven either way.
In any case try Jamesons, I think that it is superior
to Bushmills.
@ Mike C.:
Isn’t it believed that the Picts where there prior
to the time that the Irish Celts got to Scotland.
Also some people believe that a race of peopl,e the
Firbogs where in Ireland before the Gael arrived
and spawned the idea of the mythical little People.
Scotia was the Latin name for the island of Ireland. That’s why the recent immigrants from Ireland were termed “Scots” or “Scottish.” The Picts were in Scotland before the “Scots” arrived, yes.
I agree with most of what Lt Col Allen West is saying. He mentions Karzai as a problem so continuing to prop him up with the best of mission plans is a no go as well
@ Mike C.:
I wonder if there is relly anything to the Firbog
legend in Ireland.
Morgan Lleyelyn wrote a great book from the perspective
of the Gael in “Druids”, about the Roman Gaelic War.
It’s hard to seperate fact from fiction, but a much
different account than Caesars Commentaries.

Unless we cut Afghanistan into territories namely American mineral mining region separated from cave dwelling types and focused on the mineral resources Afghanistan is a lose-lose wrt to stay or go
Concerning most conservatives they’re not even beginning to grasp Romney’s thought patterns. He doesn’t have the same Western Thinking and mental development.

Yeah, it’s a no win situation.
The whole idea was to rout Al Queda & punish the

Nation building should not be part of the deal.

@ RIX:
There was a book out years ago. I think it was called “Secrets of the Druids”. It was a very resonable look at the druids, Irish culture, and celtic culture. A lot of it is speculation, drawn upon Roman propaganda, and typical Irish culture going back to St. Patrick and so forth. I found it extremely thought provoking.
And no, it’s not a glorification of paganism or Gaia worship either.
@ mfhorn:
Iyt sounds like great reearch.
@ PaladinPhil:
I am going to pick that up. The subject is facinating.
@ RIX:
Yeah, I love stuff like that. Very interesting.
Good morning all!
Good Mornin All….make it a great day

yep all we can do is try to make
our little bit of the world a
better place. I’ve been working
my gardens since it’s looking
like we will have an early spring.
trying a “Back to Eden Garden”
BACK TO EDEN shares the story of one man’s lifelong journey, walking with God and learning how to get back to the simple, productive methods of sustainable provision that were given to man in the garden of Eden. The organic growing system that has resulted from Paul Gautschi’s incredible experiences has garnered the interest of visitors from around the world. However, never until now have Paul’s methods been documented and shared like this!
