‘Is someone REALLY saying nasty things about you?’ It’s a Twitter scam

By Robb Hicken/ chief storyteller

Got a email in my personal account the other day. It read: “Someone is saying nasty things about you on Twitter.”

Come on! I’m not going to fall for that. And, neither should you. Does it really mean that much that someone is saying something nasty about you?

This is a classic phishing scam!

Clicking on the bit.ly link took me to a fake twitter login. It said that my current session had expired. (I don’t remember ever being knocked off Twitter).

I typed in my login and password, and BBB’s virus scammer stopped me there. “YOU’RE NOT PERMITTED TO ENTER THIS PAGE.”

This week I read further about the scam. It explains this was a phishing scam, and installs malware that would send out direct mail from my Twitter account with similar statements. If anyone received these, my apologies. Our IT department said the virus protector we use should have stopped any items from going out .

A similar Twitter attack was launched in August, October, and December of last year.

If you did click though, take the following steps:

  • Change your Twitter password.
  • Verify the email address for your Twitter account was not changed.
  • If you’ve used the same e-mail address and password on other web sites, then immediately check them out and change their passwords.
  • If your Twitter account is sending out phishing messages, you should also visit the Applications tab in “Account Settings”, and Revoke Access for any third-party application that you don’t recognize.

Remember, you should always be suspicious of links that you are sent in an email, tweet or social networking site. If you are ever in doubt, DON’T CLICK!

    well here we are
    from the last thread

Wow. Rev. Dr. Emmett Burns, a prominent black pastor at the Rising Sun Baptist Church in Baltimore, spoke out publicly against Obama’s decision to support same-sex marriage. In an interview with CNN, he stated that his congregation not only does not support Obama, but they will stay home on November 6th. And, Reverend Burns is not the only one. Many other pastors across the country are, also, speaking out against the president during their Sunday sermons. Even Obama’s own pastor is disappointed, saying his decision to support gay marriage “may hurt the African American community’s support of the president”.

Obama’s controversial decision may have garnered him favor with the gay community, but at the expense of his support from the black community, an important part of his base. In his interview, Rev. Burns predicted this would cost Obama the election.

    then I find this
    from CBS of all places

Poll: One in four less likely to back Obama over same-sex marriage

CBS News) One in four registered voters say they are less likely to vote for President Obama in November because he expressed support same-sex marriage, according to a new CBS News/New York Times poll.

While 25 percent say the president’s support for same-sex marriage makes them less likely to support his reelection, 16 percent say his position makes them more likely to support him. Fifty-eight percent say the announcement will not affect how they vote.

Poll: Romney Winning the Women’s Vote

I expect the media to be in a surly mood tonight. After months of manufactured “GOP War on Women” silliness, a new CBS/NYT poll (!) finds Romney leading Obama 46-44% among woman voters. Mind you, that isn’t GOP woman or even independent women, but ALL women voters.

New Obama Book Shocker: Kennedys and Obamas at War — Caroline Considers Obama a ‘Liar’

•Despite endorsing Obama in 2008, JFK’s daughter Caroline now considers Obama a “liar,” according to a family source in Edward Klein’s new book on Obama called “The Amateur.”
•Caroline’s past support for Obama, which was mirrored by the late Sen. Ted Kennedy, caused a riff in the family. In fact, Klein writes of an incident where Bobby Kennedy Jr. got in his uncle Ted‘s face over Ted’s support for the president.
•Some of the Kennedy’s diminishing support for the president is due to the Obamas snubbing several members of the Kennedy family on multiple occasions — one that sent Ethel Kennedy on a furniture-turning rant.
•But despite the tension, both families know the Kennedys have no one else to support, and that “really pisses [Caroline] off.”

    I don’t Twitter.

But I have been getting hacker attacks from “3xp1r3 Cyber Army” that have been messing with hundreds of WordPress sites on the net.

What they do is replace the index.php on the current theme with one of theirs. They also change the main administrator login name and PW (if it’s the default Admin)

The Admin name was changed to Adm!in in one of my sites.

    Using phpAdmin I fixed everything.

One of the things I usually do is reject the default Admin name and choose something else but on this one I got lazy and didn’t.

The software they are using to invade these WordPress sites are from the Middle East (naturally!). SQLinjection.

My iZZiZZnOT site was hacked a few months ago by using the same approach. I caught that one and traced it to some Jihad Palestinian group.

Merkel To Greece: Shape Up Or Ship Out Of The EU…Greek Minister Warns of Civil War

An outgoing Greek minister warned that the country could descend into “civil war” amid the chaos of a euro exit. “If Greece cannot meet its obligations and serve its debt the pain will be great,” Michalis Chrysohoidis was quoted as telling a local radio station. “What will prevail are armed gangs with Kalashnikovs and which one has the greatest number of Kalashnikovs will count … we will end up in civil war.”

New elections may be held next month and Greek voters are likely to be warned by European leaders that their country may be ejected from the euro if they do not support parties backing austerity measures.

Germany and the European Central Bank are thought to have drawn up detailed plans for a Greek exit for the euro. They are designed to stop it provoking panic in other vulnerable countries, particularly Spain and Ireland. However, this is fraught with difficulties, particularly if Greece refuses to take part in a “negotiated exit”.

The EU finances are a total clusterfrak. Europeans are running to the pound sterling and the U.S. dollar as safe havens. What does that say about anyone negotiating in an organized manner?

Definitely getting real. Take 3 months expenses out of the bank if you can, just in case the banking system develops a few hiccups this year.

I believe the EU as a whole, is the third largest trading consortium in the world. It’s not that easy to back out of it. Also, a lot of nations hold the debts of other nations, so they are interconnected that way. It’s a bad marriage but nobody can afford a divorce.

From Jim Rickards, advisor to governments and the author of “Currency Wars” speaking about the U.S. Fed and banks. (same for every country with a Central Banking system afaik)

“The Fed has engineered a massive wealth transfer from everyday Americans to large banks. They do this by holding interest rates near zero. Savers get nothing for their hard earned savings. However, banks get free money because they pay almost no interest. Banks then invest the money in Treasury notes and earn the difference. The Fed permits this to rebuild the capital of the banks. The Fed doesn’t mind hurting everyday Americans if they can prop up bank capital.”

Victory: Federal judge strikes down NLRB’s rule approving “ambush” union elections

Big win, but it’ll probably take electing President Romney to make sure they don’t make it stick on the second try.

“According to Woody Allen, eighty percent of life is just showing up,” Boasberg wrote in an opinion issued today. “When it comes to satisfying a quorum requirement, though, showing up is even more important than that.”

The rule change, challenged in court by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, simplified and shortened balloting at a time when the unionized share of the workforce is falling, according to labor relations consultant Phillip Wilson. The compressed schedule could have cut the time permitted for voting in half to as few as 15 days, Wilson said.

Unions win 87 percent of elections held 15 days or less after a request, a rate that falls to 58 percent when the vote takes place after 36 to 40 days, according to a February report by Bloomberg Government.

Stealth Ceremony for Rush Limbaugh — and His Bust

    (and the dems are PISSED!)

It’s official and it’s a done deal: Conservative talk-show host Rush Limbaugh is now officially inducted into the Hall of Famous Missourians. People might have wondered why he wasn’t doing his radio show today — it’s because he was in Jefferson City.

The Democratic minority in Jefferson City is fuming. In a statement released to the media, House Minority Leader Mike Talboy said “House Speaker Steve Tilley today purported to induct misogynistic talk show host Rush Limbaugh III into the Hall of Famous Missourians. Instead of being open to the public as is tradition, the ceremony was conducted in secret in a locked House chamber with only Republican officials and other select people allowed in.

KMOX Capitol Bureau Chief Phil Brooks says Democrats are upset the Highway Patrol was used for the occasion, and they are reportedly pressing Governor Jay Nixon not to allow Limbaugh’s bust to be displayed in the capitol rotunda.

As a member of the Hall of Famous Missourians, Limbaugh will have a bronze bust displayed in the Capitol alongside the likes of President Harry Truman, Mark Twain, Walt Disney, George Washington Carver and Stan Musial
