With the exception of Ronald Reagan and Sonny Bono, celebrities and politics don’t mix. Alec Baldwin had for years been considering a run for New York City Mayor. He recently said he was not interested. Well that has changed again.
Billy Baldwin is saying that his brother Alec is really seriously considering a run for NYC Mayor. People should not laugh at this. Baldwin could mount a serious run. He has name recognition and money. NYC politically fits well for him. Mayor Baldwin could be a reality.
Alec Baldwin’s flirtation with a possible run for New York mayor may not be just for show.
That’s according to his little brother Billy, who said in an interview with CNN’s Piers Morgan on Tuesday night that the “30 Rock” star’s on-and-off political aspirations could actually be “very real.”
“I think on one level it’s very real. I think he’s very committed and extremely bright and knowledgeable and I think he could do it and he could run,” Billy Baldwin said

He still looks like a Pussy.
The scary thing is that thousands of New Yorkers would actually vote for him.
As far as I’m concerned, New Yorkers deserve whatever they get.
These are the same people who voted for Bloomberg 3 times, after all.
I know his name, but I can’t remember seeing him in anything.
@ Mike C.:
His most recent role was as the owner of a Hollywood bar in the movie version of Rock of Ages.
Aging ’80s rocker isn’t a good look for him…
@ Speranza:
The scary thing is that tens of thousands of NY kers would vote for him. But it would be entertaining to watch a Mayor of NY city go bat shi* crazy at news conferences.
@ lobo91:
Bloomberg was the lesser of evils. His opponent was a Marxist. Rudy Giuliani’s are a rarity in NY politics.

Thanks! I know it was something rock.

He’s a nasty guy.

Maybe you should familiarize yourself with NYC politics. Bloomberg’s opponents were City Council President Mark Green (2001), Bronx Borough President Fernando Ferrer (2005), and City Comptroller Bill Thompson (2009) -- all three made Bloomberg seem like Ronald Reagan -- and Bloomberg actually was not a bad mayor for his first six years.
@ Speranza:
Like I said, Bloomberg’s opponent where Marxists. Its just like the Presidential election, we are stuck with a Liberal like Romney and the only reason anyone is voting for him is because his opponent is Obama. Its the same dynamic as NYC. Bloomberg is better than the Marxists.
Rodan wrote:
Bloomberg was the best of a bad choice. In 2001 I actually was a Herman Badillo (a former Democratic Bronx Borough President who switched parties to the GOP) supporter.
@ Speranza:
Badillo would have been heads and shoulders above Bloomberg.
@ Rodan:
The past few years Bloomberg has become increasingly bizarre in his pronouncements but like I said the only other choices instead of him were three shit sandwiches.
@ Speranza:
I’m well aware of what sort of insane asylum NYC is when it comes to politics.
Not sure how that changes what I said, though. They get the candidates they deserve, just like California.
Rodan wrote:
I liked Herman Badillo a lot. Fernando Ferrer was a complete union stooge and Mark Green not much better. Bill Thompson was just merely incompetent, another David Dinkins.

The “1%” that people should actually be rising up against are out-of-control actors and professional athletes; they regularly flout laws in ways that would land anyone else in prison.
lobo91 wrote:
What about nationally? We have a Liberal like Romney vs. the Marxist Obama. You have the same dynamic.
The only Conservative elected the in recent times was Ronald Reagan. What you say about NYC applies to the whole country.
@ Speranza:
Badillo was a Giuliani Conservative. He would have been a good follow up.
lobo91 wrote:
My point is that if the choice is between a very flawed Bloomberg and a completely unacceptable Fernando Ferrer (who wanted pretty much to destroy Wall Street), I know where I am going to vote. If you want to say that the political culture in NY and California is warped I will not disagree.

Yeah the Hollywood 1% are exempt from that hate. How convenient!

Be glad I am not begging for someone to behead them for smearing Catholicism.

I’m cool and never called the person a name.
@ Lily:
That is true. Keep arguing your point while maintaining your composure….drives them nuts all the time.

Good point! i’ve yet to hear a first hand story of abuse, instead I hear a lot of retread accusations and smears.
@ MacDuff:
Bingo! And many millions of dollars were paid out to these people.
I’m not saying there was no abuse. But on the scale anti-Catholic’s say it is ….they are wrong.
@ NoThreat2U:
Did I behave like a true Southern Belle?
@ Lily:
Yes dear, your behavior was appropriate
@ NoThreat2U:
Why thank-you {NT2U}. I just get tired of the Catholic hate. I will no longer tolerate it. It is ALWAYS the Catholic Church never the selcur schools or other Churches…just the Catholic’s. I have seen more news of teachers in public schools abusing children than anywhere else.
And no I will not defend a wicked priest…but they are the exception.

Thats who cares. just as I live in fly over country, any channel with him on is skip over bandwidth for me. Heck, Its getting to where I look on the military channel as too liberal.

My brothers were both altar boys, my son was an altar boy. I never had any qualms about my son and the other children hanging out at the church with Father. It did them all more good than harm. We all had some very cool CCD teachers, myself and other students would hang with Father at the religious gift shop our church had. I would be a lesser person had I missed out on those times.
@ NoThreat2U:
Indeed. When I was a teenager…CCD dances and advents are where you would find me. Not doing drugs and hanging with losers and no priest EVER even touched me other than to give me a blessing.
@ heysoos:
You do know that it can be very profitable to “discover” that one was a victim of a pedophile several decades ago.
In Canada, Indians who were sent to residential schools decades ago, and of whom some tiny fraction were undeniably abused, have been milking the system for all it is worth.
@ NoThreat2U:
My brothers were altar boys too. Never ever were abused. One is now agnostic…but it wasn’t because of the Church. He wants PROOF. Not to mention he doesn’t even diss the Catholic Church although agnostic.
Says something there.
@ Lily:
Yep! We had dances at my church and the Methodist church. lol That was the place to be on the weekends. And I firmly believe that what was taught to me in church and CCD has certainly guided my decisions in life. I, like anyone else, am imperfect, but I try to live by a decent moral code. I KNOW what is right and what is wrong and I know when I have crossed that line.
@ Lily:
That really says alot. I get where he is coming from and I am fine with that. You can choose not to worship as I do, but don’t put me down for my beliefs. He sounds like a very well rounded person.
@ NoThreat2U:
I spelled events wrong. But those events at the Catholic Church for teenagers kept a lot of teenagers from drinking, doing drugs and hanging with losers.
We also helped with charity events too which was so fun! I had a blast and never got in trouble.
@ NoThreat2U:
Well he can be annoying at times!!!
/he has to right on everything!!!!
@ Lily:
PIMF *to be right*
@ Lily:
I have a brother who is ultra religious so I understand annoying. lol He likes to tell people that since he is more pious and religious, there is a mansion waiting for him in heaven while the rest of us will merely be given cottages. Oh, did I mention he just got married for the fifth time??????????
sorry Lily and friendly debaters….ABQ just got slammed by a mammoth thunderstorm… temps dropped about 35 deg in a few minutes…my bunkhouse is flooded and there are trees down around the hood…doesn’t rain for 10 months, then this shit, it’s like a hurricane…my whole 2 acres is underwater, most ferocious storm by far in my 7 years here…wow…BBL
Lily, we had one parish priest who did NOT take the vow of poverty. His family was loaded and he used that money to make improvements to the parish. He bought these wonderful big statues to use for the Nativity scene on the church front lawn. He used his money to buy the things needed for a church bazaar he started. The whole town enjoyed the bazaar. It brought funds into the church and into the community. THAT is what a parish is all about IMO..serving everyone, not just those who share your faith.
@ heysoos:
Stay safe!
@ heysoos:
Hope everything is okay today heysoos. Didn’t see this til this afternoon.
