Ok, just how drunk were they?

Cops mistaken for male strippers at bachelorette party

For real? That cop? Wow.

After the Northern Territory police had finished inspecting the tavern, they moved on next door to the Humpty Doo Hotel, where they were met by the women celebrating a “hen’s night,” an Australian term for a bachelorette party.

“They were most excited about the police presence,” said Northern Watch Commander Louise Jorgenson. “There were various shouts about how the strippers had arrived.”

“They nearly had their shirts torn off, but they managed to escape with their dignity intact,” Jorgenson added.

Oh really?

Ok.

Just contemplate that for a moment… while you enjoy the Friday Night OOT!

it wont work like that anymore, we have endless info at our fingertips and residents and attending just a few steps or a simple phone call away. the latitude given within defined parameters is quite remarkable so i always ask on med decisions and new procedures.

then i would like a cbc with serum albumin to establish what i have in the vascular space, can i get a white count for infection?

then i would like a chest xray, yeah, i know obvious, i want to image the lungs to see what is shakin’ in there

then i would like…cardiac markers, an MRI or head CT, if its a female i want a UTI.

that is HUGE. speech is very very complicated and involves several centers of the brain and multiple cranial nerves. this means that they are *mostly* intact and those centers of the brain involved in speech are intact.

I’m not medical expert, but I’m pretty sure that when an individual. especially an elderly individual, goes down and is on the ground for an extended period, whereever they are physically in contact with the ground, their blood pools, it leave both bruises and clots.

It that a permanent muscular deterioration?
the cells explode and send debris down the line which can take out the kidneys and liver…very tricky to manage. dialysis would help there.
So, do the muscles in question suffer permanent atrophy?

the cells are permanently destroyed. it isnt atrophy, it is a mechanical destruction of the cell iteself.

Wow, on what kind of scale are we talking? Entire major muscle groups?

Vicks is the best smell invented ever.

“But I’ve never heard of this. And don’t laugh, it works 100% of the time although the scientists at the Canada Research council (who discovered it) aren’t sure why. To stop night time coughing in a child (or adult as we found out personally), put Vicks Vaporub generously on the bottom of the feet at bedtime, then cover with socks. Even persistent, heavy, deep coughing will stop in about 5 minutes and stay stopped for many, many hours of relief. Works 100% of the time and is more effective in children than even very strong prescription cough medicines. In addition it is extremely soothing and comforting and they will sleep soundly. I heard the head of the Canada Research Council describe these findings on the part of their scientists when they were investigating the effectiveness and usage of prescription cough medicines in children as compared to alternative therapies like acupressure.”

It’s just that I don’t see it that way. Atheists are basically no different that any other segment of society, 99% of them will not voice a complaint about something that bothers them just like the rest of society. The guy who complained wasn’t the only one offended, he’s just the one who spoke up.

LOL I wouldn’t have such a negative opinion except that my brother gave me his book one year for Christmas. I didn’t make it past the first couple chapters. The man’s story telling on the radio is charming. When you read his words in his book, you realize that he is not trying to be funny, he is mocking those of faith. He holds a vehemently anti-Christian viewpoint and, in his book, took that to extremes in terms of really expressing contempt for those who don’t hold his views.

    Quite disillusioning.

    @ Da_Beerfreak:
Kelly knew that some of his strips would be squelched, so he told his friends that if they saw two bunnies in a strip they’d know he’d been censored. The bunny strips were offered to the newspapers as backup/alternates. They made the same vicious points except with vicious subtlety.

Do you know about Kelly’s “Bunny Strips?”

Sure don’t. First time I’ve heard of it.

had to go and look it up…
    “Backlash, censorship and “bunny strips”
Kelly’s use of satire and politics often drew fire from those he was criticizing and their supporters. Due to complaints, a number of papers censored or dropped the strip altogether, while others moved it to the editorial page.
When he started a controversial storyline, Kelly would usually create alternate, deliberately innocuous daily strips that papers could opt to run instead of the political ones for a given week. They are sometimes labeled “Special,” or with a letter after the date, to denote that they were alternate offerings. Kelly referred to these strips as “bunny strips,” because more often than not he would populate the alternate strips with the least offensive material he could imagine—fluffy little bunnies telling safe, insipid jokes. (Nevertheless, many of the bunny strips are subtle reworkings of the theme of the replaced strip.) As if to drive home Kelly’s point, some papers published both versions. Kelly would tell fans that if all they saw in Pogo were fluffy little bunnies, then their newspaper didn’t believe they were capable of thinking for themselves—or didn’t want them to. The bunny strips were usually not reproduced when Pogo strips were collected into book form. However, a few alternate strips were reprinted in Equal Time for Pogo and the 1982 collection, The Best of Pogo.

Yep. Kelly despised communism, yet he also skewered the right when he saw fit. “The Pogo Poop Book -- Walt Kelly Unmasked” is a rarity, but if you’re a fan, grab it if you find it. I have a copy. Maybe I’ll scan some of it.

    Nothing has changed:

The French writer Edmond About noted the following about the Greek situation, back in 1858:

“Greece is the only know example of a country that is insolvent since it came into existence. If France or England would find themselves in a comparable situation for only one year, they would face catastrophy. But Greece … Greece is at peace with its insolvency since 20 years [Modern Greece was established in 1830]. All Greek budgets, from the first through the last, show a deficit.

If a civilized county fails to cover its expenditures by receipts, it proceeds to borrow money internally, from its own people. The Greek government never tried to do that, and for a good reason — it would have failed. The protecting powers of Greece [Great Britain, among others] had to guarantee the solvency of Greece so that it could borrow in the international markets.

Subsequently, the money raised is squandered by the government without any benefit for the country, and the protecting powers have to cover the interest payments themselves. Greece cannot pay.”

@ Bunk X:The only review from Amazon is pretty much on the mark.

This is one of the later Pogo collections, copyright 1966. As such, most of it is pointed political satire, more targeted towards whole attitudes and movements than individuals. Some of the old dragons, like the Klan, have very nearly been slain today, so Kelly’s crusade against them may look like tilting at windmills to today’s reader. In the early 60s, though, they were real threats worthy of all the worst that could be thrown at them. And Kelly did his very worst.

Maybe it won’t look like much to current, media-jaded readers: Kelly’s attacks foretold the “velvet revolution” of Eastern Europe. His most biting weapon against the Klan, for example, was a simple cold shoulder. “If you do that, go away to do it. Just go away.” It’s touching, and an encouraging reminder that you don’t have to be a front-page hero to fight injustice. Simply standing firm against it works too, and maybe more effectively.

No problema. All the hydrocarbon biz is centered out of Santa Cruz, since all the oil and gas is in the east of the country. Santa Cruz de la Sierra is the largest city in Bolivia, and at a much lower (approx. 600 m) altitude than La Paz.
