Manhattan Mini Storage Takes on Bloomberg’s Soda War

Saw this today on the subway.

Could it be that the Manhattan Mini Storage ads have taken up an issue that I actually agree with?

Meanwhile on the same subway car, the sodaphobic Nanny State Mayor Bloomie takes aim square at New Yorker’s freedoms.

    War on Soda!

Soda is really bad for you but I think the reason most people are pissed about this is because we know when enough is enough. There is no reason for government to regulate what we put in our bodies.

My soda’s haven’t hurt me. Thankfully…like people drink coffee in the morning I drink my de-caff Dr. Pepper…have all my life..guess what I’m 125 lbs and am not diabetic. I think sodas effect teeth more..but even on that for me..nope. So they can pry my soda from my cold dead hand. Period. ;)

I asked my brother once how I could lose some weight. He told me to cut out HFCS. The commercials about it are misleading. It may taste the same and “our bodies can’t tell the difference” but the truth is, our bodies can’t process it the way we do cane sugar. I prefer the cane sugar. I actully started feeling better when I cut out the HFCS.

Obesity a bigger problem than smoking, poll finds
Nearly four in 10 Americans say obesity is an ‘extremely serious’ problem to society.

Note the website, “Mother Nature Network”, the picture accompanying the piece, and the focus on it being a “problem for society”. The piece is remarkably cold and sterile, more concerned with the problems that smoking and obesity cause society than the health of individuals.

The debate about health care has let us with the “Borg-like” idea that an individual’s health, and how he/she maintain’s their heath is the direct concern of “society”.

It’s really the stuff of dystopian sci-fi and it’s creepy in the extreme.

Billy Jeff is cynical. He wants Hillary to be the nominee in 2016 and he figures that after eight years of Obama, the Democratic stock will be so low that even FDR could not get elected.

But I knew he was reacting to the negative reception here and was pot shotting my post.

People dislike the Catholic church. It’s no big deal in the US. They call them protestants. But the founders found a way to make it work. just wish they had written a muslim exclusion clause into the constitution.

@ 217 Lily: Water under the bridge. But why would he call people names here if he never visited before? I could only think then that would be Rodan or Savage who have had their reputation proceed them in a lot of places.

Anyway I don’t think he was made to feel welcome here because of mistaken interpretations on the blogs part and some stubborness on his part. Alcohol may or may not have been involved.

And further anyway, I never go out of my way to make people feel welcome on a blog unless i know them from somewhere else. It’s their job to find acceptance not mine.
